The Olde Cobbler in Northampton

I ordered the slow cooked meet and it was delicious, it reminded me one of my favorite Italian dishes the brasato. For desserts I tried the pineapple pie with rum ice cream and this was also delicious. I recommend this restaurant.

Went for a Sunday Roast. Very overpriced for the quality of the food received. Meat was tender but had little to no flavour. Gravy was very watery and bland. Vegetables were dry and unseasoned, as were the roasties. Service wasn’t great (probably just because it was quite busy), we were waiting up to 10 minutes just to get our drink order (we received a dirty glass with lipstick all over it) and had to call a server over to order our food after waiting with no luck.

Very disappointed with the whole experience having to wait for eggs and bacon to be cooked and the other items on my plate going cold the plates were dirty were the utensils were and to top it of I can’t believe they charge for toast which in ever other buffet breakfast it’s free so avoid

We just popped in for a drink with our dog so obviously we sat in the dog area, although the drinks were good the room was really cold & the radiator wasn't on....

7 of us went for brunch. Prebooked a table but when we arrived it wasn't set up, no problem as it only took a couple of minutes for 2 tables to be pushed together but it was the start of dissapointing service. Waitress showed us to the table but then left as soon as she pointed it out to us with no explanation as to what, if any, options there were, no explanation as to how the brunch worked or where to go for the food & drinks. Hot drinks were on the bar in jugs, 2 of us separately had to let staff know that the flasks were empty. Another member of our party had to inform staff that the buffet was virtually empty. Took a while for them to restock it. Buffet food was nice but it was only on leaving did we see on another table that there were menus for other options other than the buffet that we could have chosen from.

We booked a table for Sunday lunch where the menu clearly says £13.75 and £13.50 when we arrived the menu is £17.00 we asked if they would honour price they said no and didn't seem to want to know. I always thought that they had to honour prices stated by law.

Went for a wake. Nice selection of buffet. Bar staff quick and friendly.

Very nice restaurant. An upgrade from buddies which used to be there. The foods delicious and it’s worth the money. A good variety of drinks too

Came for a Sunday roast, and I have to say it was one of the best roast dinners I've had. The dessert was tasty too. The service was great. Would highly recommend.

We went for our works Xmas lunch and I loved it. Really good quality food, prompt service and empty plates all round. If you want to book somewhere to eat you can't go wrong

The turkey was hard to cut and the sticky toffee pudding said it comes with vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce but it came with custard only. Said about what the menu said and the waitress went to talk to the manager - got ice cream to add to it but no toffee sauce .

Staff efficient and friendly. Main meal very good, plenty of meat and selection of vegetables. Good variety of desserts. Glad we didn't have starters otherwise couldn't have managed desserts!

Excellent all round..Staff were amazing. Couldn't do enough to help us accommodate a large party of 25. Food was lovely and hot and excellent that it all was brought out at the same time with such a large party to cater for :)

There is a good choice of dishes on the menu and the pie of the day was excellent. Also do a set menu on some days with a good variety of different choices. Staff always good and friendly.

Lovely food, cooked to perfection . Good service though the table we were given felt like we were in a walk way/corridor. Decent amount of parking and don't be put off by the outside it's better inside.

There's nothing I can say about this venue which is not excellent the staff are there for the customers. The service is great . I would recommend this venue to friends and family

Party of Four on a Friday night. Goid and service were great. However i was not impressed by drink prices . i purchased a pint of the IPA on offer at £3.50 and a large lemonade and limeCost for two drinks over £8!!!!!!!!!!! I of course questioned this and two bad staff pressed a few epos buttons and I was told that's the price!!! Joke or what Glass half filled with ice, lemonade out of a dispenser and a splash of lime. New name for this sink.....Extortion! Won't be back at these prices . Tony Wincott.

Yesterday we went to The Olde Cobbler for our mum's 90th birthday party. There were 47 of us eating. The food came out all in one go and it was hot (not sure how they managed that 😄). All perfectly cooked. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us. Thanks Megan, Lucy, Kev and all of the other staff, sorry I don't know all your names but you were first class. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. If you're looking for a venue please go, they are fantastic ❤️

Menu is pretty basic but what they do they do well. Very comfortable setting.

Another excellent visit to this family owned pub and restaurant. Really good food, very generous portions, freshly cooked, hot, and served with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble either. Well recommended. Sunday lunch today was first class.

This is a brilliant place to go as a family. One of our party is a chef and he was super impressed with everything. Will definately come again

I called yesterday morning 10 a.m. to book a table, as instructed I left my contact details on the answerphone. No confirmation was sent. I tried again this morning, again only the answerphone. Finally spoke to a real person around 11 a.m., no table was booked for us and the restaurant was fully booked. Only when I said twice this wasn't good enough I finally received an apology.

The old cobbler is a nice looking place and staff are friendly. The starter was perfect and so was the pudding. The main on the other hand wasn’t great. Very thin slices of beef, one parsnip, two roast potatoes and a burnt Yorkshire puddling. All six of us had to share a small bowl of vegetables for our dinner :( the burnt Yorkshire was displayed like the crown on the top of all of the meals, I don’t know why. They did refund us a puddling against the bill, as like I said the staff were really accommodating. They did take time to clear the table and for us to order pudding. It’s a shame the main let this place down for me as great potential:)

A great bistro pub, food is amazing from full english breakfasts to Sunday roasts. Definitely recommend going.

The vegan burger was missing the red onion marmalade sauce, I’d of asked but it was busy and no one came to ask how the food was. For the expensive price at this place I would have expected better.

Never been before but always go past, took my dad in for lunch and the food was lovely. Nice homemade food. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely meal - great veggie options. Overall, the service was good but it took a bit of time for them to notice we had finished and wanted the bill. They were preparing for a large party and this seemed to make them forget or ignore the other customers!

Walked in at 1145 on a Saturday to be told we aren't doing food until 1230, no offer to order a drink at the bar and take a seat, returned at 1220 to be told sorry we don't do tables for 5. I find this unfathomable, can't add a chair to a table of 4 or seat us at a table of 6, two of our party were young children, so I don't really think seating five would be a terrible inconvenience, unlike of course the level of service at this establishment, which was a terrible inconvenience and experience. Maybe the foods great, I don't know as we barely got through the door. Never again. Poor service.

First time dining here. The reviews are spot on. Food was excellent, our hostess was fabulous nothing was too much trouble. You have eat here. Lovely cozy room. Everywhere was immaculately clean. The main bar was very impressive. Will definitely be coming back.

Hi just returned from a beautiful Boxing Day meal at the olde cobbler, easily one of the best meals I’ve tasted this year!. The service from a young lady called Megan and her team ensured the we were looked after impeccably, all the courses were piping hot and tasted lovely. 10/10 for service and 10/10 food Thank you all

I haven't been in this pub for many years back in the day it was known as the North Star, then a fast food restaurant now it's a proper pub. Under new management it's a great pub it's been tastefully decorated in light grey and no music or games machines. It has a varied menu and sells local beers, we each had something different from the extensive menu we all enjoyed our food this pub should do well as there isn't another up that end of Kingsthorpe. Well worth a visit we will certainly be going back. 😀

Went out of way to meet my dietary requirements

We came at lunchtime for the Xmas menu, & after waiting a pretty long time (it was busy tbf...) our food arrived & I was surprised at how small the portions were! Now I'm going off visits to other establishments here, but imo the portions were tiny compared to other restaurants! No problem with the quality, just not enough...

Recently refurbished famous Northampton pub (The North Star as was). Lovely home made food and great service. Local Phipps beers on tap. Definitely coming back. Pictures are of a lovely lasagne with chips and salad and a home made chicken and bacon pie with mash etc.

Very friendly staff. The food is all home-cooked and piping hot when you get it. Been on many occasions to this pub and never once has our family ever had a complaint about the food. There’s usually 10 or 12 of us that go each time spending £250 and it is absolutely excellent.

Excellent choices of Sunday lunch here at very reasonable prices. Food was beautifully cooked, fresh and well presented. The service was friendly and unobtrusive. Booking ahead is advisable

We like the Sunday lunch here and staff are really friendly. Only disappointment was family facing us didn't know how to eat properly. Were using their fingers rather than cutlery...most off putting to be honest. There were other unruly children as well. Not sure what could be done..sign of the times I guess but certainly has put us off going on a Sunday again

The service is great, however the food isn't the best in my opinion. Went here for my Grandparents 50th wedding anniversary last year and it had a lovely atmosphere. The food was alright but in general it weren't to bad. 6/10

Mum's 81st. The service was excellent, very quick and the food was really nice,the staff were very friendly and the bar manager Sean(? )was great can't fault it at all.

It was a quiet restaurant for a Saturday afternoon however we really enjoyed our lunch here. It offers good quality food at reasonable prices and very friendly service. We were there to celebrate a special occasion and they did make us feel special with a little added touch to our yummy Eton Mess. Thank you :)

Just enjoyed the Wednesday pasta evening menu. Very good quality food with lots of taste for a very reasonable price. The guest beer was very good.they obviously know how to look after real ale. Definitely will enjoy many more meals here.

Been here loads with friends.today had eggs ham and supposed to be chips.as didn't like the pie of day I wanted it was lamb.i didn't like.so anyway the supposedly chips.were potatòe wedges .so I never ate them all.if chips are on menu.i expect chips.not wedges with skin on.will be going elsewhere foreseeable.unless you go back to chips.as stated on menu.and prices on website are still old rates.not on menu put in front of you.bit crafty really.please check prices.on website to prices on menu on tables.
