Went for Mother’s Day meal as treat from family. Service was good food was excellent . Really recommend this village pub .

Fab service and food! You get plenty for what you pay for and the staff are very attentive. We go regularly and love the family feel.

We took our daughter there for her birthday lunch yesterday 25-03-25, she told us the portions were generous and we’re glad we took her advice as we have to watch our weight. The prices are so low but the food is great. The staff are friendly and the place has a lovely atmosphere. We are definitely going to return there when we come to Northampton again.

Very good value for a family meal (two adults and two children). Portions very generous and kindly gave us leftovers in doggy bag! Nice small touches like sweets with kids ice cream Waitress was exceptional. Thanks all

My partner and I visited the pub for the first time on NYE, it was a nice pub atmosphere but shame about the staff. I purchased a bottle of Prosecco at the bar after midnight, paid there and then by card £22.95, to then be hunted down 20 minutes later outside and shouted at by the girl who served me and took the payment, that I never paid and took the bottle without paying. I was insulted in front of my friends and accused of being a thief. I actually thought she must be drunk to not have remembered taking my payment, and clearly she was. Shouting at me she said they can watch the CCTV, and to show her my bank to prove I paid. At that point my bank app had not updated due to the lack of signal. I willingly followed the land lady back into the pub, where the girl was back behind the bar again and she continued to be abusive and aggressive to me a paying customer. The Land Lady took the payment from me again, to then later on find out the original payment had been taken as I previously said it had, she therefore refunded me in cash £22.95 for the second payment taken. Terrible attitude by this girl who was beyond rude & unprofessional, to be treated in this manner was disgusting (there are ways of dealing with situations more appropriately). I would have appreciated a proper apology, (from the girl) and perhaps a good will gesture like a free drink to help compensate this incident would have been the right thing to do, considering how much myself and friends had spent that night at the bar, including the £10 each we paid for the NYE tickets. If the pub has technical issues with their card machine, perhaps this needs to looked into first, instead of accusing innocent paying customers of stealing! This whole experience and the treatment I received that night, has left a very bad taste.

Thank you to Charlie and to every other member of staff at the Elwes Arms. Our evening on the 12th of December was absolutely wonderful. The food was great and the beer was great too. Everybody had a lovely time, even Jack who was too tall for your ceiling. Your staff were absolutely fantastic. thank you so much for organising our little event. It was perfect in every way. Ted

I can not rate this place higher, i visited many many years ago and had a pleasant experience back then. I moved from wellingborough to little billing and decided to visit the Elwes for a meal with my partner for my birthday last autumn and from that moment i was blown away, the food was 10/10, the staff were all lovely, we returned shortly after for a few drinks, and then again for a sunday roast which again was amazing, and one of the best cauliflower cheeses ever. I visited again two weeks ago with my mum for an early evening weekday meal and drinks, the young lady at the bar was so so sweet! she remembered the wine my mum ordered first time around as we forgot, and she was super friendly and chatty, we both left saying how lovely she was, a credit to the elwes.- the food at the Elwes is the star of the show for me, unfortunately i cant review many dishes as other than a sunday roast i always order the chicken in the stilton and cider sauce, because it is hands down the best meal ive ever ordered from a pub so i keep ordering it! my partner has ordered a burger which was huge! loads of cheese and flavour, my mum ordered the chicken and prawns and also really enjoyed that . The decor is beautiful and super cosy, plus i love the fact they supply sanitary products for women in the bathroom, this is so thoughful and very appreciated by many im sure. If youre debating visiting, dont, just go, i understand the prices have been increased slightly due to the raise in costs and struggles at the moment, but personally, and as many others have said, im happy to pay whatever to visit here as its worth every penny. :) look forward to visiting you again tomorrow for some food and drinks.

Booked table 7pm Tuesday, small group of friends, nice pub and food when it came was lovely. Seemed very short staffed and food order only taken when we chased. It was nearly 8.30 pm when we finally ate, so didn't try to order puddings or coffee. Shame as lovely otherwise

We visited here for my birthday this week, this is such a lovely cute pub, service is good too, we had Lucy as our server who was so friendly! The food is good and cooked fresh, would definitely the burgers but overall would definitely recommend this pub, we have visited before and will be returning! Well done Elwes arms!👏😃

Lovely family meal with 6 in the group. The staff were excellent, we all had different meals and they double checked order, very efficient. Well timed with delivering food. All the meals delicious. Nice sized portions too. Good value for money. Highly recommended. Will certainly be back.

Lovely, friendly atmosphere, staff were pleasant and welcoming. Service was 1st class and attentive. Food was delicious, we had West Country chicken and sea bass which was freshly cooked. As we didn't have a starter we had a 30 minute wait but that was okay we had a chat which we enjoyed. We'll find a reason to go again soon!!

A great pub with wonderful staff and atmosphere. There was live music going on when I went which was excellent. There was also a BBQ going and the food from it was lovely.

Great place. We visited on a Monday night. It was fairly busy, but great staff ensured that the evening was enjoyable. The food was homely and hot. Would recommend the fish and chips also the vegetarian shepherds pie.

We had an absolutely wonderful evening here on Saturday! Four of us came for dinner. We had the Sharers starter, and then we each had a main course. The food was plentiful and amazing, everything cooked to perfection. Can't comment on the puds as we were all too full! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially the young man that was our waiter for the evening. We couldn't fault anything, and will definitely be coming back asap!

We found this pub year ago and it's now our favourite please to have paint of beer or have I dinner, strongly recommend

Went today for Sunday roast with my partner and my daughter. Nothing was to much trouble, very welcoming pub staff and the food was amazing. Massive portions, and also the NBC real ale was spot on, so well done to all at this pub, we will definitely be returning soon .

Absolutely love this pub. Friendly bar staff. Food is exceptional. The chef gives each dish 100%. Live entertainment in the summer & even over the Xmas period. The regulars are very entertaining & friendly. I would highly recommend a visit.

Last minute decision for a birthday lunchtime meal. Pub was quiet (soon after Christmas and New Year) but I didn’t decide when I was to be born! Despite it being quiet service was very welcoming and the food (off of the £6.50 lunchtime special menu) was excellent, obviously freshly prepared and not just kept hot until somebody ordered it. Very impressed and a lovely experience for my birthday 🎉

I played in a darts match here last night and loved it. I love the piano keyboard above the bar, the guitar on the ceiling etc. The pub felt friendly and welcoming 💖

Seems friendly enough. Good for older people who just want to chill out. Don't see many people under the age of 30 in there but very local. Shame they don't offer jobs there especially for teens who need them

The best vegetarian food in town, good atmosphere, friendly staff.

Called in today with family on our way to a lunchtime wedding at the local church. We had all travelled from various parts of the country and were unlikely to return but despite this the hospitality was second to none. We had drinks and food and very kindly was allowed to leave our cars in the car park. Just a big thank you for the welcome and contributing to a good day!

Sunday roast was very tasty and great value for money. Pudding was delicious. The atmosphere was quiet and quaint. Just been for a meal in the week and I wasn't disappointed - food and atmosphere spot on!

Very reasonably priced and appreciated a nice vegan menu. Vegan Shepard's pie was lovely.

Used to like it there until one day . Spend there 20 to 30 a day 60+ in a week. Everybody knew that I was charging my things while I was there, I asked and I got permission. One day waiter said you are aloud to charge just one item at a time. He said electric is expensive and than those items are not prof. tested. I believe that 50% of electronic devices in the pub there are not tested but he needed argument. They have lost paying customer for no reason because of few pennies more. Was it worthy?

Not as I remember it from 20+ years ago!

Always had nothing less than a fantastic time here, even before the restrictions, the staff are always extremely friendly and polite, plus they've managed to carry that over even though dealing with gov restrictions/limitations currently. *edit* Since the original review, now that all restrictions are gone, if anything it's only gotten better, the recent-ish update to the outside dining area is amazing, fully covered with heaters too means can dine outside in comfort whatever the weather. Plus the revamped garden/kids play area is a great addition too.

Just moved into the village and decided to come here for drinks and food beforehand to check out our new local. Food was amazing and the environment is lovely. Their beer garden is a lovely family friendly environment. The food portions were very generous and food was delicious. Staff are friendly and happy to have a laugh with. 10/10. So glad this is our new local! Update: we have now lived in the village nearly a year and come here a few times a week. Staff are brilliant, always friendly, know our drink order and food is always good. Never had any problems here and the weekly quiz on a Thursday is loads of fun. The locals are welcoming and always up for a chat.

We have been going to this pub for about a year. There are a few young lovely staff, who are trully amazing and make the experience magical every time! In early March 2022 (this year) we invited some elderly neighbours to join us to the pub, and they all (5 different households) were saying that they hate the pub due to old which working here. We have never seen any old woman there, only rather young ones, who made the experience amazing. Untill Easter Sunday... me and my other half walked up with the dog, and there she was, old and grupmy. This made the experience very toxic, unpleasant and really negative atmosphere. She took some glasses of the table we were sitting at. I siad thank you and she didn't even acknowledge it- how rude!! Hope she is getting fired soon- definitely time for retirement. The pub is so much better without her there!!

Not suitable for disabled as steps to different dining areas and very low ceilings! Food OK but nothing special. Car park full sparked in street. Friendly staff.

It really is a nice Sunday lunch venue

Stunning thatched public house, situated in picturesque village on the Eastern side of Northampton. I met with a friend for lunch here, the staff are welcoming and helpful. The meal I had was typical pub grub, scampi and chips, the chips were very good, the scampi a little over done, but better than underdone. No complaints, loved the whole ambiance and experience.
