We called in for a coffee and a look around the little shops on site. The coffee was lovely. We then booked a table to return for our lunch. There was a nice choice of sandwiches, panini's, soup, daily specials, homemade cakes & scones, tea, coffees, milkshakes & cold drinks. The staff were very friendly and efficient & the coffee shop had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We chose the ham cheese & red onion chutney panini which came with a side of crisps and dressed salad with a pot of tea with a cheese scone to follow. The tea was served in lovely vintage china crockery & the panini was very tasty indeed. It can take a little while for your food to come especially at busy times as it is all prepared and cooked to order, but it is well worth the wait. You won't be disappointed 10/10

What a lovely coffee shop. A great menu and a great outdoor seating area with a water feature. A nice place to just chill out and enjoy a nice meal/snack. The scones are delicious and the tea was served in china which was charming. Staff very friendly and helpful and parking for customers.

A hidden gem - we went to visit Nunnington Hall, however, we arrived 30 mins before it opened. The staff suggested we take a walk into the village and we found the Old Yard Coffee Shop. Lovely coffee and homemade cheese scones (freshly made that morning).

This is a delightful, slightly quirky coffee house in a pretty courtyard setting which also has a cosy indoor eating space for those chillier days. Visited as a walking group and Sally could not have been more accommodating. Thank you.

Beautiful little cafe serving afternoon tea and cakes in real (and slightly quaint) china in a lovely spot amongst artisan gift shops. Well worth dropping in after a visit to the local castle. or a walk in the surrounding Dales countryside.

My daughter and I had walked from Harome to Nunnington planning to have lunch at the National Trust Hall's cafe. Sadly, you can only access it if you pay the full £10 admission charge. But all was not lost as we'd passed this coffee shop in the village so knew exactly where to go instead. What a super spot. So peaceful and pleasant in the sunshine. We had first rate chorizo paninis and a brownie. The cafe is in a courtyard shared with artist's and photographer's galleries and a nursery. The sort of eaterie that every village would like to have. Both Nunnington and Harome are beautiful, unspoilt villages with lots of thatched properties. The walk back beside the River Rye and past/over its many bridges is also recommended.

A lovely little tea room that we visited having done a walk round the countryside surrounding Nunnington village post a trip to Nunnington Hall. Beautiful surroundings and a basic menu plus a specials board which sadly we arrived too late to take advantge of. proper tea and cake all served on gorgeous porcelain. We had a huge pot of tea - enough for about five cups each (we were very thirsty after five mile walk) and an excellent fresh scone plus a first class moist brownie with large lumps of chocolate in. Wonderful ambience and craft shops in the yard too. A quintessential old-fashioned English tearoom. Wonderful!!

Sally and her daughter were a delight, they served us efficiently and were so very friendly. The food prepared by Jane was delicious. I had the tuna melt panini which came with a lovely fresh side salad and a few crisps, my husband had the cheese, ham and red onion panini equally delicious. We were so full we had to share the coffee and walnut cake, all washed down with good ol’ Yorkshire tea. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend. We ate inside as it was still a little chilly, but next time hope to sit in the lovely yard outside and take in some rays.

We stumbled across The Old Yard Coffee Shop by accident whilst looking for a spot to let our dogs swim in the river in Nunnington. What a find. We sat in the courtyard in the sunshine. Excellent food which was freshly made and plentiful, lovely coffee, great service and all with a smile despite the extra measures in place for Covid. The staff were great and it felt very safe being here. It is very dog friendly. Of particular note is the owner Charlie, who is a delightful gentleman. Thanks so much Charlie for looking after us and especially our two Labradors so well! We will be back!

The owners have really made a (successful) effort to make visitors feel safe and welcome. The food (soup, sandwiches, toasties, cakes... and of course coffee and tea) is simple but fresh, homemade and tasty. In a handsome and interesting group of buildings in a beautiful village.

We stayed for bed and breakfast here. The house is in a beautiful peaceful setting overlooking meadows. Hosts very friendly. Comfortable bedroom. The TV reception is scrambled and there is no phone signal - so I would recommend enabling WiFi calling on your phone and bring a book 😃

Oh no!! No full English breakfast any more. I don't know the reason why you have stopped serving this but I think it's a big mistake. Shame really as we have always enjoyed our breakfasts here and now have to find somewhere else to go

We chose the Middleton arms after seeing pictures of the gammon steak on Facebook, unfortunately this was sold out on the evening we went along with a few other dishes on the menu. I ordered the potato skins starter which came as a large portion which I enjoyed followed by Whitby scampi, this was average with frozen scampi. My wife had garlic mushrooms for starter which was okay, for main she had steak pie which she said was very nice.

Having been to the Stapleton Arms at Wass on many occasions and even been shown the bedrooms, 4 of us booked B&B and evening meals. I booked online 2 rooms. The 'Superior' room £150 per night and the other £100. However, we were not aware the venue had changed hands but it almost immediately became apparent. The stairs leading to the bedrooms looked very tierd and unhoovered. The landing and our bedroom stank of burnt fat and the rooms were very basic and on opening the wardrobe I found empty drink bottles. The door to the shower had black rising up it and the shower just ran like a tap.. Our meal was fine and our friends ordered a bottle of champagne which cost £70 which we were happy to pay but when the bill for the meal arrived it was altogether £340. They had even charged extra for a blob of icecream on my pudding as they said icecream was an extra. Next morning we met at breakfast only to discover that our friend staying in the 'Superior' room, one of whom is very seriously ill and this was supposed to be a treat during a break from treatment, found the shower was not working and they couldn't find a shaving ;point. Just to add insult to injury one of our party ordered a poached egg and when it arrived the toast was burnt black on the underside and my bacon was floating in fat. Had it not been for the fact that one of our party was very ill and we didn't want to make a fuss we paid up the bill and left. Not once did the manager ask us if everything was o.k. He was totally uninterested. What a nightmare stay. Never again, The next morning I phoned to speak to the owner but she was not at work but would ring me on the Thursday of that week. She never rang. I rang back a week later and was told the owner had been given my complaint and she would ring me but another weerk later I have received no response. I suppose she is £600 better off and we will never grace their doors again.
