First time visiting, we opted for the Full English Breakfast which was excellent… great ingredients, well presented. Nice coffee. Great service. Nice surroundings by the canal. We’ll definitely return, possibly for lunch ££

Great place to stop for a coffee and a nibble while walking the dog. Lovely situation by the canal basin, great ambience.

Popped in for a quick drink whilst passing and had a scone to go with it. Both hit the spot and our table on the upper floor overlooking the canal basin was a nice finish to a Sunday afternoon. We have been before at a busier time and the experience was the same, a nice cosy venue with good service, food and drink.

Really nice place. Took the dog for a walk down the canal and then had hot chocolate and cake. Very nice with good service.

Went today, such a lovely place to eat, had the carrot cake and can't wait to try something else next time.

Good quality offerings, but not so good value for money. Over a number of visits the food and drink has been consistently good quality. I understand that rural businesses have higher costs, but the 75p extra charge for oat /soya milk in your drink are bordering on the extortionate. I would hope that this policy can be reconsidered, as does not seem justifiable in this current era of lost cost, widely available plant based alternatives. The outdoor covered area is enlightened addition and well used by patrons.

expensive yesterday , over £20 for two lattes and two baps. the latte was a tad weak and the baps were dry, no salad nor anything else on the side. I feel there may have been a MISTAKE on the charging, for such a nice place a little more presentation with a few bits of salad and less cheese would make things much better. Perhaps some mayonnaise would help?

Wonderful gem discovered on a bleak day after a damp, cold canal walk. Log burner roaring and warmed us through nicely. Quaint restored old building. Very Quirky and charmingly refurbished. Value for money food with excellent choices. We were advised all products are locally sourced wherever possible and the bread is collected daily (still warm) from a local independent family bakery. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Rarity these days! Certainly on our list to visit again with the family

Very very disappointed. It looked so promising. I ordered a latte and a scone. The coffee tasted burnt and the fruit scone was horrible. Brought in from Costco. Then brought a Victoria sponge and this was a Costco special. First and last experience here.

Beautiful place , great service. I had a bacon cob, a few weeks ago, and the cob was dry, only 2 slices of bacon, the bacon was over cooked, and I was charged £5.50 , I am really sorry but I was very disappointed. The same happened again today, the cob wasn't as dry, but it wasn't a fresh cob I think you are over charging, for what size the cob was.

Great tea room in a great location (despite the winter rain we're having!). Delicious lunch & an abundant choice of cake. The service by all the staff was amazing too. I'll be back in the spring/summer time to experience the outside space...& more cake! We popped in here for some late lunch before going onto Ragdale Hall spa

A beautifully scenic location to eat a magnificent breakfast. Watching the mallard and the swans gliding about on the lake adjacent to the restaurant on a sunny, late autumn morning is idyllic. The servers are very friendly, the food is first class and the service rapid. The icing on the cake is that breakfast is very reasonable.

Lovely little tearoom that we visited after a dog walk along the beautiful Grantham canal. Fresh cakes and pastries galore along with nice coffee in a great location.

It does state on their website that it closes at 4pm, so after travelling 20 miles and arriving at 3.46pm to be told last orders were at 3.45pm you can image we were not at all pleased. No sign that they were even a little bit remorseful. Clearly they have enough custom without ours. I wonder how they’ll feel when the days get colder and only a handful of people turn out in the winter months. Never mind we went across to The Plough and were greeted by a warm and friendly landlady who was more than happy to provide us with tea. It will be a long time before we choose to visit The Old Wharf again. There’s a lovely chocolate Tea Shop, Sarsfield's Chocolaterie just down the road that we’ll be visiting instead. P.S. I appreciate your reply but 3.46pm one minute late? Please!!! Have a heart 🤷‍♀️

The staff here are probably the most polite, attentive and friendly I have experienced anywhere. The coffee is good (but not the best), the cake is excellent (but not the cheapest) and the lunch is very tasty, all situated in a beautiful building by the wharf. I can thoroughly recommend the mixed box of traybake but only to share!

This place is usually great but things seem to be slipping. The flapjack I had just fell apart when trying to hold it...not sure if it's even been baked?! Sadly also the cappuccino was way too hot... think I may have scolded my tongue!! Please replace the milk in the jug to get the froth and don't penny pinch by boiling the life out of the milk just to try and get some froth!

They say it's the best carrot cake. I can't argue really. Great little cafe next to the canal for breakfast, lunch or cake. Not the cheapest around but the food is good. Friendly fast service and a great stop off if you're walking or cycling with plenty of outdoor seating. I highly recommend the stilton and caramelised onion scone.

Everything was good but there were a lot of bothersome wasps. Wasn't a problem at our previous visit.

Fantastic spot for amazing coffee and cake! This is highly controversial, but I have to agree with a previous reviewer that they are CORRECT that their carrot cake is indeed the World's Best! (And therefore it needs to be taste tested again, and again, and again...)

Great place to walk the canal with your dog. Cafe is very nice with a lovely sitting out area. The food is very reasonably priced and the staff very pleasant.

This is a great stop in a beautiful location with few alternatives. However, I do feel as though there is a discrepancy between the price point and the quality of the product. Whilst competition is limited, this may not be much of a concern, but should this change in the future, then it may become more of an issue.

A beautiful place to have lunch. The jacket potatoes are fantastic, all the cakes on offer amazing, the staff really welcoming and helpful...and just a tip, when they say "the world's greatest carrot cake"...they mean it!! Takeaway available as well and plenty of room upstairs to eat, or for a private event.

I was scarcely out of my car, when I was told to move it by a member of staff from the kitchen. It was a demand, not a request. Apparently I wasn't close enough to the car next to me. I was there for coffee and cake to celebrate my friend's birthday. Both were lovely. On my way I told the member of staff that he could be more polite, but he refused to apologise, and said that he was fed up with everyone parking badly. He was very rude and just wouldn't listen.

Loved my first visit to this establishment. Light lunches the order of the day. Enjoyed my Baked Potato but the star has to be the Cheesecake - lovely grub.

A mixed review. Food, service and setting all 5*. However, we sat outside between the doors to the inside seating and order point and the external door to the kitchen. We picked that spot because it also overlooks the water. I think it was table 11. Sadly, we could hear a young female employee swearing at a male, not an argument, just ordinary conversation. She also asked if she could "squeeze his spots", not the sort of thing that should perhaps be going on In a kitchen. Shame, because it spoiled it.

Lovely little cafe with a nice menu in a beautiful location. We had paninis for lunch which were nicely presented with crisps and salad and two lovely coffees. Just be prepared as its quite expensive, our lunch was £30!

I can thoroughly recommend the Chicken Caesar Salad and also the Classic Panini - both were delicious and the salads had some variety i.e. not the sad lettuce/token tomato type. The service is quick and the young waiters are friendly and efficient. Great setting by the canal basin too.

We came here mid morning group of 4 of us £5.50 for a very small roll with a small amount of bacon and an extra £1.50 for an egg so £7 in total. A small bowl of soup with a piece of bread £8!!! I know things have gone up but I haven’t paid that much ever! A shame as the food was tasty but has now priced itself out of my market.

First time visit for a quick family lunch trip - we had paninis, a sausage cob, and a Little Ducks Mini Picnic Box for our youngest. Tasty, fresh food. Friendly service. What a selection of cakes to choose from! Cosy spot and nice outdoor seating in the spring sunshine next to the canal basin. Loved it - we’ll be back!

We came here for the second time and it was mad busy!!! Luckily found a table upstairs had some good sandwiches along with good service. Coffee and cake to follow which all tasted super but was disappointed with my £5 carrot cake which came as a tasy but quite small pile of mostly crumbs, so alas cannot confirm the best carrot cake I have had! Or give 5 stars .

Regularly visit this tearoom. The canalside views are wonderful and the village itself is in the middle of the countryside. The food, drinks and service are very good and would rate 5☆ if the tariff had not risen so much recently (though this is understandable). Will continue to recommend and to go but maybe slightly less frequently.

I have visited many times with friends and family. Superb location by the Grantham canal. Staff are always friendly and courteous and there is a great selection of cakes! Light savoury meals also offered and excellent breakfast options. Staff went above & beyond to arrange for Jaffa Cake brownies to be available at my visit today! Thank you 😊

This charming tea room is nestled alongside the Hickling Basin on the Grantham Canal. Plenty of seating outside (dog friendly) & inside (including upstairs with great views). FINAL THOUGHT: Tasty food with a great, mixed selection to choose from 😃 ☕

Staff attitude appalling. Especially the so called “Manager” who acted like he would rather be doing anything else other than having to interact with paying customers. Looking at some of the other reviews seems my experience is not unique.

Lovely little cafe by the canal. We walked from Kinoulton and back and it was nice to sit down here. They have 2-3 typed of vegan cakes and plant based milks too.. The building is nice too and I will definitely will spend more time here during summer and spring.
