Ate here Friday evening three of us had wood fired pizzas which were delicious, pleasant staff as always. On the Saturday two of us visited for lunch. We had crab sandwiches with a mixed leaf salad, they were tasty enough but £11 seems too much...

Very welcoming, even when we arrived on a very wet day, with our very wet dog! Lovely cakes and pastries, and whilst we did not have a meal, the food looked appetising and a good selection.

As usual we were made welcome, the staff are always lovely. We arrived for a late breakfast, they serve it till 11.45, and we so enjoyed it. My husband can't eat eggs so they supplemented it at his request with more bacon, 6 slices of...

We went there specifically for the wood-fired oven pizza and were not disappointed. This is very much a café setting with seats both outside on the shingle beach and inside in what is basically a marquee. As the oven is in the same place it...

Popped in here after cliff rambling. The service was good, the staff very friendly. The food didn't all arrive at the same time, but we had been advised this was the case by the staff so not to bothered by it. The food was okay...

Would recommend to anyone seeking a meeting place for good coffee and excellent fresh menu but most importantly fantastic seaside location. Relaxed environment for families (and dogs) with a good selection of food and drink. Great fun any time of year.

Was a bit disappointed with the cafe this visit... very poor dozy disinterested service.. almost as if they were doing you a favour. Food was OK, nothing specialand they just did not go that extra step... half hearted apology for unavailable items...full of wasps .......

This West Bay cafe used to be a normal 'fry up'' cafe and was a lot cheaper then! The food is good, as is its sister place, Hive beach Cafe which overlooks the sea in nearby village of Burton Bradstock. But it is quite pricey...

Fab food in a great setting. It has a shabby chic feel to it, there is lots of seating both in and outdoors. Ideal for suny days at the beach or windy wet days to hide inside. Food tastes really good and locally sourced where...

We had lunch which was excellent. There was a choice of fish and other dishes, a reasonable wine list and the staff were excellent.

On a sunny day sitting outside with the sea and cliffs in view wow what's not to like. Lovely staff changing menu and a proper wood fired pizza oven. They even do a lunchtime pizza menu for us oldies which includes a delicious piece of cake for a reasonable cost, so suitable for all ages!

We had a very fine fishermans breakfast here. Thr food was excellent and good value for money. The place was full so it was diffi ult to get a table inside. Many people eat outside even on a cold day. Proof that the food is worth it.

We ate here twice and plan to do it again. We had wine, drinks and mezze and also coffee and freshly baked scones. The wine was nicely warmed and the service was friendly. The scones were genuinely the best I have tasted (and i have tasted many). Can't wait to go back and try our evening meal. Coffee perfect.

Loved this place so much, we ate here twice. Fabulous for fresh local seafood, served by friendly, enthusiastic young staff. Open Saturday night, but full when we were there. Booking essential! Great for families, singles, couples, friends, everyone! Dislikes: practically none, but families with young children can be a bit noisy, so don't go there in search of a quiet corner!

Sister restaurant of The Hive at Burton Bradstock.Ideally situated on the beach at Bridport, but due to huge shingle bank, sea views only available on raised outdoor seating area.We used it regularly during the day for excellent tea and coffee, with a wide choice available.Menu mainly fish based, we ate there once in the evening.Very acceptable meal, but quite expensive for what it is. Starters £7.50, mains £17.50.Staff excellent.Booking recommended for evening meals

Could easily be mistaken for the usual beachside cafe serving chips, chips, and more chips. But the food is really good, with an excellent selection of seafood and meat dishes with nicely presented salads, and if you must, chips. Excellent cakes too.

We were camping just down the road this past weekend and decided to have a browse - I'm glad we did as there was much more to this farm shop than I was expecting. Lots of different produce and gifts type things all quite nicely set out. Some things were sensibly priced considering you do expect to pay a slight premium at a farm shop (postcards 50p, fresh scones £1, clotted cream £1.99), but some of the prices were a little shocking - there were loaves of fresh bread at £4.50 and I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the price of ice cream being served at the side of the car park! Overall a worthwhile trip - the scones were delicious, good selection of ciders and got some lovely warm slipper socks. I'd recommend popping in if you're passing (the views are fantastic too) just don't expect any bargains.

We had a great dinner at the Arts Club. The food was wonderful, the staff were excellent and, being a lovely summer evening, we dined outside in the pretty and surprisingly quiet courtyard.

Interesting pub - THE GEORGE HOTEL IS MENTIONED IN THE ROYAL COMMISSION'S INVENTORY OF HISTORICAL MONUMENTS - WEST DORSET EDITION AS BEING CONTEMPORARY WITH CENTURY, AND ATTENTION IS BEING DRAWN TO THE ORIGINAL MOULDED CEILING BEAM AND PLATES, ALSO THE FOUR CENTERED FIREPLACE WITH THE BUILT IN SPICE CUPBOARD WITH VENTILATION HOLES. REFERENCE IS ALSO MADE TO THE GEORGE HOTEL IN J.FOWLERS BOOK "MEDIEVAL SHERBORNE" WHERE MENTION IS MADE OF A RECORD KEPT BY THE VENERABLE JOHN CHANDLER, DEAN OF SALISBURY BACK IN 1404, IN WHICH HE REFERS TO SIX LICENCES HELD BY THE RECTOR OF ST. THOMAS' CHAPEL ON THE GREEN, ONE BEING THE GEORGE INN. THE DEAN'S TOPOGRAPHICAL NOTE, ON THE RECTOR OF THE GREENS, GLEBE LANDS DESCRIBES THIS BUILDING AS THE RECTORS HOSPICE, IN THE COURT ROLLS FOR THE YEARS 1459-60, RICHARD COOT AND JOHN OSTELER, OF THE GEORGE INN SHERBORNE WERE FINED 1/4d EACH FOR SELLING HAY AND OATS AT AN EXTORTIONATE PRICE. THE DWELLING PLACE OF AVISA-HEROINE IN A POEM, ATTRIBUTED TO SIR WALTER RALEIGH WRITTEN IN 1593, "WILLOBIE HAS AVISTA" IS CLEARLY INDICATED AS THE GEORGE INN SHERBORNE, "WHERE HANGS THE BADGE OF ENGLAND'S SAINT" ON SUNDAY 26TH JULY 1616, THE MAIN PARTY THAT WAS CONDUCTING SIR WALTER RALEIGH AS PRISONER FROM PLYMOUTH TO LONDON STOPPED FOR THE NIGHT IN SHERBORNE AT THE SIGN OF THE GEORGE.

They opened late today. When I mentioned i didn't bang the door. One of the landlords said if u bang the door I will bang your head. Not a way to talk to a customer and I took it as a threat. And left as he was very aggressive I won't drink there again while he's running the pub. Luckily lots of other nice pubs in lyme regis to go to
