Amazing food, the vegan nut cutlet was the best I've ever had! Such good value. Good quality produce, took a little bit of time and a few corrections to order, but was worth it. Beautiful setting and clean facilities. Highly reccomend.

Service was good. Food was good. Unfortunately there appear to no rules about dogs fighting of barking excessively. The owners made no attempts to quell the three extremely noisy dogs. Ruined our breakfast and hurt our ears. We are dog owners ourselves!

We came here, as we often do, for lunch! The portions are generous and so inexpensive! There were no crisps on our plates this time, so my daughter asked the barista for some, and - hey presto - they arrived in two little dishes at no extra cost! We are always thrilled to come here, for the food, the ambience, the wonderful surroundings!

We had lunch as we often do and were stunned to see a new artist outside the tearoom, in one of the old buildings near the outside seating. Of course we went in and were thrilled to see artworks in progress. The artist Jack Hicks was charming. I took some pictures of his studio. Really worth seeing!

Attended a private 90th birthday party. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing, freshly home cooked scones, lemon drizzle cake and shortbread that was to die for. The setting was fascinating due to the walls being adorned by local artists work and warm and cozy because of the crackling log burners. Highly recommended for a lunch, tea stop or a private function. Well done and thank you to David and the team at the Rowan Tree Tea Rooms

We have moved close by & it is a perfect spot to combine with a walk in the woods with friends/family. The 'frappacinos' were terrible (we purchased 3). Milk (not cold enough), barely a taste of coffee, whipped cream on top & a glass of ice cubes to add to cool them down. We also purchased a black coffee with milk on the side & this too was terrible. It was cheap coffee & undrinkable. My daughter left it, even after working up a thirst with our walk. Other beverages are probably better & the cakes & food on offer looked tasty, but I would not purchase coffee again.

We ate here today on my birthday! Greek salad with olive bread followed by the best cup of tea in Weston! Service was quick and efficient. There is a "proper" toilet now inside the cafe which replaces the earth closet outside (which must have kept a lot of people away, in my opinion). This fabulous place is the best-kept secret and more people should be made aware of it. The quarry itself is steeped in history and actually my own house was built from the stones quarried there in the late 1800s.

Went there for lunch after being told by someone that it was a very nice setting. Yes, it was aery nice setting, good for taking the family for a wander after or before lunch. However, my husband's lunch the egg mayonnaise sandwiches were not what was expected - 3 rounds of very dry white bread sort of held together (not very well) no butter, not much egg mayonnaise. The tea was tepid. My lunch was okay - a ciabetta - ham cheese and pineapple (very little pineapple).

Been there twice - once early Spring warmed by log fire - Early Summer, Glorious Day. Not an easy place, Weston but this is it. In a small quarry where you just hear wind in the trees and you can sit in a flower meadow and watch the birds. The Cafe is a bit arty which might put some off but we had the best sandwich I have had for many walking days - proper bread, generous filling, super salad and fresh Cole slaw. Service was friendly without being pushy. Plenty of parking. I think good for wheels.Best thing is, all but the determined trippers will miss it!

Sadly I dont know what went wrong today but our lunch order was a shambles! The coffees were in mugs not cups, once of the sandwiches was on the wrong bread, the wholemeal bread is covered in seeds, seeds dont agree with all people, and also was found to be very dry. Then the baked potato never appeared, when I asked, it eventually came and the others had finished their lunch and I ate alone. It was also not very hot and evident it had been forgotten. When we went to pay the manager said he would deal with the bill, and reduced it by about £12, we said how we felt and he still did not turn round and apologize, but as he put money in the till muttered that "good customer service is important"!! It certainly is, and if someone had come straight over and apologized and said they would reflect the errors in our bill we would all have felt a lot happier. Wee all felt saddened as the Quarry is a lovely setting and the shops and galleries well worth a visit. ,

Bit cold today (13/04/17) for sitting outside but found a pleasant atmosphere indoors. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Good sized pot of excellent tea for two, enough water and milk for seconds or even thirds all round. Slightly disappointing Teacakes though - smaller than I would normally expect to see in a Tearoom. That cost them a couple of stars!Interesting little museum and informative signs around the site

I've often visited the quarry over the years but recently we've been spending more time at the beach with a relative's dog. However, heavy rain was forecast so we thought we'd find more shelter if we walked him in the woods. After seventy minutes of negotiating the muddy paths we were very thirsty so went into the quarry and ordered coffee, tea and elderberry presse. The dog lay down beside our table and ate chicken until we were ready to begin his second walk. I was delighted to see the quarry get busy with dog walkers as it used to be a very underused resource. I suspect that its newfound popularity stems partly from the fact that the outdoor compost toilet has been replaced by an indoor disabled WC. The staff here are friendly and it's ideal for dogs and walkers alike.

A group of us visited during the week and I was pleasantly surprised by the Old Town Quarry. I have seen reviews, generally good ones, and can see that the reviewers were right in their comments, a good choice of food on hand. I had jacket potato with cheese and salad, not iceberg lettuce I am pleased to say, all served very efficiently and with a smile. The place is also an art centre with exhibits on the walls that add to the atmosphere. All in all a very interesting cafe with a twist, we will be returning soon.

second time I have booked tickets for the film night on Halloween and as last year, was not disappointed. 28 days later was showing and the place was packed.Film enjoyable and weather was great, really mild night without rain. Only negative was 4 selfish females, celebrating a birthday and laughed, talked and generally acted like idiots throughout the whole film, the crowd were clearly all there to watch the film. Perhaps not the best place to celebrate a birthday watching an apocalyptic film !!There was some choice of alcoholic drinks available and food was plentiful, plus hot drinks from café before film started but you do need to take folding chair and blanket as it does get colder later on.Definitely book again next year.

We went there today, leaving our coats at home for the first time in months as the sun was shining in a beautiful blue sky! This place grows more beautiful each time we visit. There was an art exhibition in the main cafe. The jewellery lady's shop had moved into the small museum which we thought was a big improvement. We chose to have our delicious meal at one of the outside tables. It was quite busy this lunchtime, with a group of twitchers using their long-distance lenses to spot ravens, magpies and even a peregrine falcon, all nesting in the crevices of the quarry walls. We sat there quite a while jsut soaking in the lovely dreamy atmosphere, gazing at the gorgeous flowers and thinking of the history of this place. Most of the stone houses in Weston (including mine) are built from materials quarried here. Such a buzz this place has!

The Rowan Tree Tea Room is tucked away inside a large regenerated building in this old quarry. You'll need a car to get here as it is high up at the back of the town, but that stops Weston's less desirable's getting here! Inside there are ten tables which are decently spaced apart and the floor is of stone. Around the white walls is a healthy collection of good artwork of local scenes and classical music plays quietly via portable cassette/dvd/radio player. There is also a large piano close to the counter. There are table-clots on each table and a plain and easy-to-read, smartly designed menu which highlights well-priced fare. I diverted from my normal all-day breakfast and chose instead a baked potato with ham and cheese which was quickly served, piping hot and garnished (as they promised) with a lot of salad. The coffee was tasty too and the whole meal came to £6.20. The surroundings are a good example of re-generation, although it is a shame that it is only open from meals between noon-2.30pm.

We visit the Old Town Quarry fairly regularly, for its charm, its historical significance, the small museum, the wonderful atmosphere, and you can watch the blacksmith at work during the week. The floor of the quarry is 385 million years old, and all the stone-built houses in Weston are from this very quarry! Coffee and cake are nice, not too expensive. There is a lady making jewellery there who is very interesting to talk to. Some days you are allowed to enter the artists' studios at the back and watch them at work. We once had a writing seminar in the cafe part, and the ambience was wonderfully inspiring! Many people take picnics to eat outside on the grass, but there is a plentiful supply of tables and chairs for people who prefer a bit of comfort.

The gluten free apple and almond cake is recommended. Afterwards we walked back to the seafront via South Road and Prince Consort Gardens, there are some of the finest views in Weston to be had along here. I've positively reviewed this impressive landmark before but was lukewarm about the catering as, for a while, they downsized the menu and it was mainly soup or paninis. But we returned recently and were delighted to see that they were offering a wider selection of meals. I ordered the goats cheese puff with salad and the manager very honestly said he wasn't happy with the condition of it and would I change my order to the stilton puff instead? I briefly worked on a deli counter whilst writing my first novel and know how often we were told to pass stale food onto the customer so it's heartening that some caterers actually care! The stilton puff was delicious and my partner was equally pleased with the nut roast. At the time of writing (February 2013) the toilets in Grove Park are out of commission so you may have to use the Quarry's somewhat quirky facilities!

If you want to get fitter, a walk to the Old Town Quarry will set you on the right path! It's uphill all the way through Grove Park and up Queen Street so you will appreciate a coffee or cold drink when you reach your impressive destination. The Quarry has indoor and outdoor seating, the latter giving you a wonderful view of the towering rockface, home to owls and other birds of prey. The café serves a modest range of paninis, scones and cakes plus the day's special, a light lunch such as quiche. It hosts occasional events such as comedy and poetry gigs. A word of warning - you may want to use the toilets in Grove Park as the Quarry has a strange non-flushable contraption where you ladle what looks like sawdust into the loo after using it and let everything biodegrade! To add to the slightly `things that make you go mm' feeling, it's set in a wooden hut in the quarry grounds! Thought it was only fair to point this out but don't let it put you off visiting this unique property.

We had a snack lunch and then, after our walk, a savoury tea. Service was excellent and the food tasty and well presented, the tea especially appreciated after our hike. Back in the car park, my wife bought an ice cream from the Tea Rooms' kiosk and then left her walking poles leaning against the wall (!) when we drove off. We discovered this when we got home and phoned the Tea Rooms. Without hesitating, David offered to go and see if the poles were still there - which they were - and then have them ready when we were able to return to pick them up during the following week. Exceptional service from a kind and thoughtful proprietor. Many, many thanks for your kindness.
