Pretentious place. Staff don’t listen to requests, e.g. brought drink with ice when asked for no ice, brought dessert with clotted cream when asked for pouring cream. Food at best average.

Service from start to end was fantastic! Lovely friendly accommodating people just a shame the food was pretty poor in comparison. Sunday lunch.. meat was chewy and very over cooked, roast potatoes were rock hard likely from frozen. I definitely could have done with more than a spoonful of veg ( which was served in a small dish between 3 people) cauliflower cheese was lovely though but again between 3 people in a single serving dish was disappointing. £17 for a frozen re-heated meal. I can’t help but feel if the food was as good as the service I’d have definitely given 5 stars.

This is a really rare place..the staff are so genuinely cheerful and helpful that you wonder why other, more expensive places can’t do the same? Nothing is too much trouble and the rooms are lovely - Sunday lunch is great too! Don’t overlook this place, they deserve the business - this is how it should be done.

Beautiful setting, but not the most welcoming. Made a booking the day before but on arrival they had no record of our booking . felt a little uncomfortable, but then a gentleman came out and dealt with us very professionally and made us feel a welcome. It appeared they had lots of tables anyway and we were given the choice of a few tables outside. This pub is famous for its Pies, they were very nice and beautifully presented. we also ordred a side of seasonal veg. disappointing, broccoli and sauted potatoes. As the Pie came with mash more potato was not a great choice for a seasonal vegetable. We will return simply because the pies were good and the venue rather lovelly. Young man who served us was very pleasant and quite attentive.

Under covid rules got a table, but not the most friendly experience. Followed the one way system and asked to order drinks, pumps the other side of the bar and staff member seemed quite irritated we asked what was available and had to check. We ordered 2 pints - no food available as no chef - we ended up getting sandwiches from the local Londis and found a nice spot by the river to eat them.

Visited this establishment today drawn in by board outside promoting new chef, new menu. The lunch menu has some variation of snacks and sandwich choices, such as Brie and cranberry, crispy chicken and mango. Served on fresh granary bread with fresh salad, delicious homemade coleslaw and fries, there was nothing to fault and only praise for a very enjoyable lunch. It’s a very smart and comfortable place, with ceiling beams and a very old open fireplace retaining sone old style character for a relaxed setting.

After a delightful walk along the Thames path we went to The Old Swan Inn for lunch. It is situated in a beautiful spot and the take full advantage of this by providing plenty of seating outside. It’s perfect for lunch on a sunny day. We ordered lunch of a sharing seafood platter which consisted of smoked salmon, prawns, couple of small prawns in shells, crayfish tails and crab meat. HOWEVER there was no crab. Just crayfish tails chopped finely in order to make it look like crab. The platter included 6 bits of baguette, butter and mayonnaise. The cost was £20. Very poor value for money and a bit naughty not to admit to not having any crab and just pretending. It was all very watery as well so probably just defrosted. We ordered a side of chips and they were delicious. Would not recommend the seafood platter but will probably go back for the chips.

Arrived late but still in time for dinner. Receptionist wasn't at all welcoming and as another guest has already commented, she wasn't very forthcoming with basic information - so much so we decided there any then we'd go elsewhere to eat. There are only 4 rooms, two of which are beautiful - as seen in the pictures. We managed to sneak a peek as we were leaving. We had the standard rooms which were functional but unremarkable. We quickly discovered that a door next to the bed was hiding a boiler as it was pretty noisy when it fired up and I was woken nice and early in the morning when it did! Breakfast was similarly very unremarkable. I asked for poached eggs on toast. The eggs were over-cooked and the white was missing - looked like two big yellow eyeballs on the plate! The toast was similarly overcooked. My husband had full English and was disappointed to be served fried bread instead of toast (as stated on the menu). The woman serving breakfast was friendly and attentive to be fair. When we left there were no goodbyes and thank-yous. We just got the impression that their hearts just weren't in it. On the plus side - a very comfortable bed and good parking to the rear though some advance information of how to find the car park would have been useful.

Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in deluxe king room for two night. The room was just perfect. It was very clean with a very comfortable bed. I loved the bath! Our room had fire place, which looked amazing but its only there for decoration. As it was mentioned on booking.com there was towels, tv, kettle, tea, coffee, etc in the room. You can take your own hair drier if you like because the room doesn’t have one. They cleaned the room daily. First night the room was bit cold, second night we put the thick curtains down which stoped the cold air in from the window corners and kept the room warm. Breakfast and the food was fine. The hotel is very cute, decorated with musical instruments on the walls. They have two fire place downstairs, one at the lounge and the other one at the bar area. We really wanted to have our meal/drink next to the fire place. The bar area was bit crowded so we asked them if they could put the fire on at lounge area for us, but they refused to put it on. However, we did still enjoy our time there. The only negative thing was the walls are not sound proof, I could hear the music they were playing downstairs from the bar. But it’s still worth staying. I would go again because the room was amazing. The location is very quiet. No traffic noise. Perfect for those who wants a few days quiet break from the crowded city. I didn’t see any bus on streets while we were there. I think it’s best to go there with a car. I recommend you to visit Bibury village. It’s a very cute village worth seeing, only about 15 minutes away from the hotel by car.

We went to The Old Swan for Sunday Lunch with Friends. The had booked well in advance and had specifically asked if they do a Sunday Roast. We arrived at about 1.00pm with lunch advertised from 12.00 till 5.00. The place wasn't busy, and we were shown to our table. We asked the young waiter what the roast of the day was. He didn't know and went to ask the chef. On his return we were told beef or gammon. We asked to order drinks and were told to go to the bar. We got drinks, came back to the table and ordered 3 beef and 1 Gammon. We waited again till the waiter came back to tell us they only had 1 beef left!! I'm not sure who had eaten the rest, but for our party this did not constitute a reasonable Sunday Lunch offer. Www told them we would go elsewhere, and asked for the drinks bill. This was presented in a very unfriendly manor. We paid and left. Never to return!

Nice touches are complimentary toiletries, free Wifi, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer. The room was lovely and warm (but for those who have tropical moments!!) you can adjust the temperature of the two radiators and there is a ceiling fan with remote control so can be operated from the bed. When I asked if food was available from the normal menu I was told that service had finished. When I asked when that happened (on their website it clearly shows dinner till 9pm) I was told 'Two minutes ago' with some glow of satisfaction by the member of staff. I left somewhat disappointed by the lack of customer service not to mention the lack of food. I do understand that it would have been wise to book but it has not been necessary in the past. Furthermore it is a quiet time of year after the flurry of the festive season. It was a spontaneous decision to invite some friends who had not been there before – so it was embarrassing as well as disappointing.I e mailed the pub to tell them about my experience but after a week I have had no response...

Reading other peoples reviews, I think I went to a different pub for Sunday lunch.Four of us were squeezed around a rough wooden table, with very basic chairs. The starter is served with basic bagged salad.Roast beef was too raw for three of us, yorkshire puddings over cooked, and roast potatoes were like boulders. The cauliflower cheese was under cooked and sauce very watery. The menu had four desserts, one of which was a cheese plate, and out of the other three there were only two choices left, chocolate brownies or panacotta, neither had any appeal to the four of us.Perhaps I expect too much for a meal that costs £12/£16, but I feel that you should be asked if you eat beef partly raw, and that with desserts, the chef should know their popular choice and make extra percentage of that dessert.I feel people like this place as it is quantity not quality.

Thought we, a party of four would give the Friday steak night a go. We hadn't booked but luckily there was a pone table left. £22.50 per couple which includes a bottle of wine seemed very reasonable. What a wonderful meal we had. The steak was one of the most juicy steaks we have had. It was served with chips, mushrooms, tomato and a lovely salad. Also as a side dish, real onion rings which were also delicious. The meal was very well presented. The wine was good and any left in the bottles we could take away with us. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I would certainly go back again.

What a lovely old pub. We had an excellent meal there. The hosts were very welcoming. It has a comfortable bar with a large inglenook fire place, unfortunately not cold enough when we were there to be lit!

This has been a regular favourite good value pub with great food for myself, friends and family for sometime. However over recent months the quality of food has become poor.Sadly yesterday early evening was the last time I will be visiting due to being served poor quality food - again!

This pub used to be our go to pub if we were stuck for somewhere to go. Unfortunately in the last month or so its started to go down hill. Trying to pass off 2 slices of toast with some garlic butter on as garlic bread was the final straw for us. The food used to be a real selling point but not any longer. Hopefully things will improve and get back to the old high standards but until then we won't be returning.

It's a shame because the staff are friendly and the place looks nice; it has inviting settees around the fire, and it is well presented; nice coffee. But the food was really disappointing. Fish and chips should not be difficult but all bits of it were dry and overcooked, with much of the batter inedible. Sorry to give it only two out of five because I expected better.

I have nothing good to say about our dining experience here. We had booked for 7.30 p.m. Only three of our party ordered simple starters that took 45 minutes to arrive. By that time we needed another bottle of wine which once ordered, we had to remind the waitress to bring it. We were still waiting for our main courses at 9 p.m. When asked where it was we were told that they were very busy (there were only about 20 people in there) ! I had ordered a steak which in all fairness was good but it was accompanied by two measly mushrooms, an uncooked tomato cut in half and a pile of chips. I was underwhelmed, The rest of our party were of the same opinion and we will not be going there again,

Somewhat weird visit. The host seemed exceedingly awkward, so much so that we began to wonder if it was his first night on the job. He was pleasant enough but seemed uncertain of what to do and where to seat us, despite the room being completely empty. Eventually, however, we were seated and ordered. The food turned out to be quite good. The Posh Pigs were a sort of surprise with the bacon being especially tasty. My wife had the steak which she was quite enthusiastic over and I had the lamb shank which I enjoyed a great deal. Split a fine tiramisu for dessert. By the time we departed, the room had filled in nicely and the nice meal and largely overshadowed the odd start to the evening.

I ate here for one of the days of my week stay in lechlade. I cannot find anything to fault and only have praise for such a lovely little pub. I ordered the posh pig with red onion chutney for starter, which was well presented and flavoursome. I then followed that with the lamb shank with creamy mash, the lamb was so tender and delicious. I would more than recommend this pub to eat and would return again if in the nearby location.

We had a family dinner here the last night on holiday. We were a large group & our waitress was so very gracious to us. She pulled an extra table together & was able to explain menu items to us. It was a nice mix of traditional English fare - my husband had sausages & mash - I had the fish & chips - both were great. They also had more "foodie" dishes - My daughter had a pesto pasta dish that was great. My in-laws had the steak special - which was wonderful and a great value as a bottle of wine was included with the 2 steak dinners. We would love to come back some day - and would highly recommend it to all.

Looking for somewhere for lunch and found this on TA so thought we would check it out. Drinks were fine but the bar man was disorganised, the food was spread across 2 menus and 2 specials boards and to be honest it felt a bit like he didn't know what he was doing. We sat outside as it was a nice day in an alley surrounded by walks and looking at a house with a rotting roof. All in all I am sure the food is as good as the other reviewers have said but nothing about his place instilled any confidence so we left having just had a drink.

The hotel is old but solid with lots of character, comfortable room.(Radnor Room). The road outside is a little busy but that's not the hotels fault. The steak dinner for two for £22.50 (for both) including a bottle of wine is excellent value. The breakfast is very good with good local fresh produce. Hope the new manager makes a go of it, he certainly made us very welcome.

The most delicious burger, cooked to my preference, that I have ever eaten, and I've eaten a few. Would definitely recommend to others as reasonably priced and a lovely atmosphere with very polite staff.

I took my husband to The Old Swan on Friday the 20th February for his birthday, Friday is Steak night and we were treated to a lovely meal, the steak was cooked just as we liked it, there was plenty of well cooked tasty chips and some magnificent onion rings to accompany them. Service was friendly and timed just right, they even provided a slice of gorgeous chocolate cake and a candle to celebrate

Bar staff were really friendly and the three guest beers were very enjoyable, it was a shame we had to go as I'm sure we would've had a few more. The log fire was pumping out the heat on a chilly day. Look forward to returning.

A really good old fashioned pub. The menu is old school pub fair, "nowt poncy" just well made. The background music was proper vinyl on a turntable, with the whole album played. Our dog was given a treat before settling down to sleep in front of the fire 🔥😊.

Had a very nice meal here, celebrating a birthday. It was a blessing to find a restaurant that wasn't enforcing a Christmas menu and music. Not being local we had no knowledge of the area, so this was a pleasant surprise. We had a great time, the staff were friendly and helpful and we didn't feel rushed to vacate our table. The food was great and good value. Very happy with the overall experience and will be booking again.

Such a great find. Lovely, clean room in a quiet spot. Continental breakfast was perfect with some great little touches such as homemade jam. Well worth the money and I hope to come back again soon.
