The Old Stocks Inn in Cotswold

We ate here 3 times during our 3 night stay in Stow - twice for breakfast and once for evening meal. Breakfast in particular was superb and great value. The staff were super friendly and helpful. They were happy to accept our dog. Beer lovers might appreciate the one handpump (Purity) when we visited and the wines were good. I would definitely eat here again and so should you.

We were a family of five for an early evening meal. Great food, great ambience, great service. A must if you’re in the Cotswolds.

What a great place to stay! Right in the heart of beautiful Stow. A really nice atmosphere, with a bright, modern decor. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Our rooms (the 3 garden rooms) were gorgeous. Warm, clean and comfortable. Beautifully styled and the bathrooms were spacious and stocked with nice shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. We didn’t eat here, simply because we wanted to sample other venues in the town. So, I can’t review the food, but the dining areas were gorgeous. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again or recommend 😊

Superb high quality food with excellent service. We called last minute and were delighted a table was available despite being busy on arrival. The menu choices are excellent and staff on hand to advise drinks to compliment. Lovely meal in pleasant atmosphere. Will return again soon.

The Old Stocks Inn was recommended to us by friends so we decided to visit during our Mini-moon. It did not disappoint. The food was outstanding and the service was professional but friendly. We took advantage of a midweek deal of 3 courses for the price of 2 which felt like an absolute steal when the food is this good! I also loved the pre-drink where you roll a dice that corresponds to a liqueur that gets added to a glass of Prosecco and you guess what it was. A lovely touch. I also really appreciated that they noticed my husband was drinking alcohol free beer and so offered a non-alcoholic alternative. A sign of a very attentive waiter. Overall a really special meal and we will definitely return! Maybe even to stay next time

This was my third time at the hotel; it was as lovely as I remembered. My partner and I treated my uncle and aunt to a weekend away and everything was perfect. We stayed in rooms 4 and 21; the rooms were very comfy, cosy and had huge beds. They had a separate shower and bathtub, as well as a small sofa to relax in. There was tea and coffee in the room, as well as biscuits and a small bottle of milk. The rooms were spotless and everything was tidy and not cluttered. We spoke to one of the owners ( I am soooo bad with names) and he explained how much work they put into maintaining the grade II listed inn. It is truly a labour of love as they have to follow so many rules and regulations just to be able to keep the historic inn functioning. We had dinner and breakfast there; omg, the eggs royale at breakfast were to die for and the bread we were given to start off our evening meal was incredible. I also highly recommend having the cheese plate; local cheeses with chutney and quince jelly. Yummy! Everyone we met during our stay were so friendly; from the owner, to the housekeeping staff and the restaurant waitresses. They especially were so attentive to us but not intrusive; just the right amount of keeping us feeling looked after but not hovering. We will definitely return for a fourth time!

The food was fancy. Not our usual fare but every mouthful was a delight. The lamb was perfectly cooked with an absolutely delicious sauce. The duck tasted wonderful as the flavours of the sauce matched perfectly with it. Fancy but not pretentious. We will remember this meal for a long time.

This is a great place to eat - we came back after a great visit last year, and it was even better! A couple of beers and a couple of Cotswolds gins in the garden whetted our appetites. We were not to be disappointed. First of all, a little drinking game - roll a dodecahedron dice to get your mystery Prosecco cocktail. Innovative, provided a talking point as we were invited to identify the liqueur that was with the Prosecco. Much amusement followed. Delicious crab tortellini and a wonderful watermelon and feta salad were very good starters. The mains were outstanding - beautifully cooked lamb, beef and duck dishes were all perfection on their plates. We also enjoyed a super bottle of Musar Jeune Cabernet Sauvignon (recommended by our knowledgeable waitress. This is a very fine restaurant, run by an excellent staff who really know their stuff. The cooking is outstanding, and we’ll definitely be back.

We were a party of 4 walk-ins for breakfast. We were seated with no trouble. The breakfast we had was the best we’d had in our travels to date, not expensive, the main included the continental breakfast. Justine was so friendly. Highly recommended

We loved everything about our stay from the moment we booked and you could choose which room you wanted to stay in. The room was decorated beautifully, the bed was really comfortable, and the shower was superb. We loved that not only did you get nice coffee pods and tea bags but that there was fresh milk in the fridge and the added treat of biscuits. The free cocktail during our stay was also a lovely touch. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and good quality food. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the square so near to all the shops and restaurants and there is also parking round the back of the property. We absolutely loved this hotel and would highly recommend it and if we were ever in the area again we would definitely come back!

This Inn has a lot to offer. The check in and out was easy. The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is well located on the square. Our room was clean and very very nice. Popped into the Stocks for a drink and to pass some time when wadndering around Stow. Nice place with a good range of cocktails at a reasonable price saw us staying rather longer than we had intended.

Dinner here on a Sunday evening. The a la carte menu was superb. We were sat with a drink while the host was organising our table, he had offered to make an off-menu cocktail which was incredible. We went for the three courses of which we could not fault any. The black pudding side of the pork main dish was sensational. Sat with a drink after in the lounge area.

Having booked a couple of nights in a hotel local to the Old Stocks and eating there one night, we decided to explore other options in town. We popped into the Old Stocks and met with Bogdan who talked about the menu and invited us to book for the evening, which we did. Delighted to say we were not disappointed, the food, the ambience and the service were impeccable. The pork cheeks, pan fried Cod, cheese board, were utterly delicious. Cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough, thanks Bogdan for a wonderful evening.

Had a most delicious Sunday lunch at the Old Stocks with excellent friendly service from all the staff. The restaurant is comfortable and the ambience is lovely. The food was amazing-so delicious and well-presented and the organic South African red wine was perfect (great that you could order a 500ml carafe to share). Totally recommend the salmon starter, roast beef and pear dessert. Will definitely return on our next visit to the Cotswolds.

Came for a Sunday roast with friends and it was a lovely experience. The staff were friendly and attentive and it’s really well decorated and fitted - a really comfortable yet elegant feel to it. The only part that lets it down is the lack of vegan/vegetarian dishes, for example I couldn’t have a Sunday roast adapted. The drinks list is vast with lots of cocktails to choose from. Have since been for drinks in the evening and sat in the cosy/bar area and had a lovely evening. Will be a regular spot.

5* from start to finish. A beautiful, boutique hotel with quirky decor, perfectly located in the centre of Stow. The staff are brilliantly warm and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and we were looked after brilliantly from the moment we arrived to when we left. Food is superb, from a top notch 3 course dinner to a faultless breakfast in the morning. Will definitely be back.

This was a really good birthday treat. Everything was great from the room (15) to the staff and the food was cooked and presented to a very high standard. This small boutique type hotel is located in Stow on the Wold which is a delightful place to walk round and explore. We sat in the bar for a predinner cocktail, the wood burning stove giving a great ambience. All three courses of dinner was perfection. The servers were friendly and chatty. Breakfast consisted of various choices which included fresh fruit and pastries. Again the food was excellent.

Excellent breakfast served in a cozy atmosphere. A cozy, stone-lined dining room with very comfortable seating made for a great atmosphere for a hearty full English breakfast with a choice of juices, cold yogurts and fruit, and excellent coffee and tea. The wait staff was extremely professional and stayed on top of things the entire time. We were not rushed, and it was an extremely enjoyable experience.

Stayed 3 nights pre Christmas in one of the amazing great rooms. Very comfortable room designed with a good eye, with a bath and shower for two (room 10). Staff here are so welcoming. Feels special but never stuffy, a really relaxed vibe. Cocktails are super - the 8 ball was our favourite. We ate dinner twice during our stay. Food was very good quality and good choice. 3 courses at £55 can work out quite pricey if not going for the meat/fish option. Stow itself is a nice place to spend some time with plenty of independent shops. Broadway definitely worth a trip this time of year with its festive lights.

Lovely Inn at the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold. Room 4 is super comfortable with a nice lounge area. Views over the village. Sounds of the church bell. Cosy and comfortable bar. Lovely popular restaurant. Knowledgable servers. Nice wine selection. Reception directed me to the car park at the rear. Space for several cars. Thanks to Richard, who is friendly and helpful.

The food was very good, and the waiter & waitress very helpful and friendly. Wine list was very poor, with a limited choice of cheap wine that certainly didn't match the level of food. A shame.

WE booked dinner at the Old Stocks Inn on horse-fair day. It was just about the only place open in Stow. We weren't sure what to expect. I have to say that this meal was excellent- easily in our top five all-time best meals. The food was beautifully presented and all three courses were delicious. The staff were friendly. An excellent meal in nice setting.

Wonderful, great food and wonderful service, good value for money too. My only slight negative was that my wife and I found the restaurant to be very warm - I had to nip outside a couple of times to cool down. One of the best two meals we had in our 4 week holiday around England

Amazing Sunday roast and the best service! We booked Sunday lunch as part of a weekend away for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were so friendly and the food spot on. The cauliflower cheese with crispy shallots was one of the best I’ve eaten along with an individual roast chicken breast on the bone cooked to perfection. The staff also brought us a lovely dessert for our anniversary! Thank you!

Stayed at the Old Stocks for short break with another couple. You have to book directly with them on their web-site which is slightly faffy but you get to choose your room. It's very popular and rightly so - the rooms are quirky, sometimes very small but always very well detailed and comfortable. The staff are great and the breakfast is very very good. We ate in the evening twice - the first time was very good the second not so good but we would all stay there again.

Such a friendly, cosy cafe, perfect coffee and cake, people watching in the window! All friendly, helpful smiley staff. Shame we don’t live nearby, we would definitely return. Thank you for making us so welcome.

This is a brilliant restaurant on all fronts. Staff - wonderful. Bogdan the restaurant manager is welcoming, charming and very knowledgeable. Sofia and Katie provide expert and attentive table assistance. The three of them make a formidably wonderful team. Drinks - great pint of Helles lager and a refreshing cranberry juice at the bar. Refilled water bottle (Brita no less) at the table. Delicious white Rioja at a great price. Note - all of the wines on a very reasonable list are sensibly priced. How many other establishments could learn from the Old Stocks’ pricing practice? Food - where to start? Great menu - not too long, not too short, something for everyone’s palate. The crab salad on a bed of tomatoes was delicately flavoured and brilliantly balanced. Careful and sensitive handling of just a few ingredients. Lamb - beautifully cooked pieces of lamb rump, delightful slow cooked belly scrumpet. All the accoutrements balanced the dish very well. Turbot - delicious Cornish crab butter sauce with samphire, cucumber and new potatoes. White chocolate and pistachio mousse with cherry, etc - amazing. The “smores” with ceramic and Dulce de leche and peanuts, etc were also top drawer. Overall - outstanding meal served by outstanding people. We’ll be back.

Booked table online, which was super simple a few hours before we went. The decor and ambiance was lovely throughout. The staff were great, knowledgeable and helpful, attentive but not overly so. We had the 2 course dinner menu and were really spoilt for choice. We actually said what a pleasure it was to read and choose from such a good menu. The cocktail and wine menu was great too. All in all we had a fab night and would certainly return. Thoroughly recommend!
