Fascinating unique place, visit quite a few times for a cuppa and nose....but wish the restaurant staff could smile, interact, to make the experience more enjoyable. Feel like inconvenience to place an order.

Sunday breakfast this time. Have also had lunch here, which was good. The service set up doesn’t work efficiently - can’t see menu until you’re trying to order. The order and drinks are completed by same member of staff, which does seem a bit slower than other comparable places to eat. However, decent portions and value for money.

Popped in for a quick bite to eat to break our journey. I have to admit it's not the fastest service but the staff are friendly and the food was freshly prepared. Lovely soup and the cakes are really reasonably priced. The shop itself is really well laid out with something for everyone. Will happily go again.

I’ve had to to give a 1 star rating (which certainly isn’t deserved) in order to review and hopefully warn others against trying. Very expensive and extremely poor quality, it was a drop by visit during a trip that passed by the location. We’d have preferred in hindsight (having learnt that they have a total inability to understand what defines adequate meal quality) to have saved the money and remained hungry. I am convinced that our dead Labrador could have rustled us up a more appetising meal at a fairer price. I’m also certain that the prisoners held at HM prisons have better quality food. Avoid, and visit somewhere else.

After waiting at the counter to order for sometime we were eventually served by a young person who was trying to serve both food and drinks on his own. We ordered a Christmas Special and a sweet. The meal arrived but was only luke warm, the parsnips were not cooked and hard, stuffing cold and also not cooked properly. Generally not what we had expected. We informed a member of the staff you did not show any interest or concern.Sweet was ok.Generall if your thinking of paying a visit save your money and go else where.

Meals are prompt, reasonably priced and with a varied menu. Lots of people use this day café and as such there is a good turnover of food which equates to freshness. The tables and chairs are spotless no sticky bits here. The staff all pull the same way each prepared to clear tables when not on other duties. We will be there next week maybe for a cake and coffee or for an excellent hot meal.

Called in for a snack and to look round the shop. Around 11.45 so not over busy but tables hadn’t been wiped. Ordered hot beef rolls which arrived in good time. Seriously disappointed with these as they were filled with old, dry looking beef slices and the rolls were certainly not fresh. The whole lot had been microwaved which resulted in one of us badly burning our mouths as the outside was cool but inside it was nuclear! On reflection, we should have brought this to the attention of the cafe manager. Hopefully they will read this and improve their offering in future - and give a warning about microwaved ingredients! Poor value for money, poor preparation, poor ingredients. Not recommended and we won’t be going back.

My husband spotted the fish finger sandwich on the board but decided the additional chips & coleslaw would be too much. We decided that it would be ideal for us to share so mentioned that on ordering that we would take 2 forks! 2 beautifully presented tea plates were bought out by the lady who had put them together, with our half portion set out on each. A simple gesture but little things like that mean a lot!

Visited for first time in October, great selection of outdoor wear. Good free car parking areas right outside. Fab use of an old building - with every corner utilised from clothes, ladies and gents to bedding to Christmas Decorations. Bought a few bits and big Sis took me upstairs for cream scone tea. Seating area good but service - you had to queue up and long queue ( unsure if always been like this or just since covid), which made it feel more like a self serve cafe rather than quaint tea shop. We shared a sandwich and had a fab clotted cream home made scone - all very delicious. Recommended and would think a great time to kill an hour on a wet day, if in the area.

Dropped in on way home for lunchtime snack, parking ok spaces in medium sized car park, greeted on entry by staff and explained one way shopping system and how to get to the cafe, lift was available to cafe upstairs for my disabled wife rather than climbing two flights of stairs with the assistance of a member of staff. Limited menu due to circumstances and the food and service was very good, cafe staff prompt and courteous and explained temporary seating areas. After our meal we browsed the shopping area upstairs and down, very good shopping from well known and smaller outlets with an excellent variety including clothes, gifts and household items, sale offers with very good discounts. Shop staff polite and professional with product knowledge and willing to help with any questions. An ideal place to go to for an afternoon shopping and bite to eat.

We popped in to The Old Station whilst having half an hour or so to kill and wish we had had a little longer to take a look around and perhaps use the cafe area. They have tried their best with a one way system for Covid and only allow a certain number of people in, although there were few in when we visited. We bought a few odds and ends and whilst the main toilets are closed, there is a disabled toilet a available. If we are back in the area in the future, we will certainly give ourselves more time to have a look around this delightful building. Staff all very nice and accommodating.

Went along today for an anniversary breakfast before travelling 23 Aug 20. You have to walk around the whole shop to get to the restaurant, why ? When there’s a entrance adj to the stairs. Lift was taped closed, toilets taped closed and when we got up to the restaurant it’s like entering a Bio Hazard area, chairs piled up in tables. Black and yellow tape everywhere and the breakfast was limited and poor.In the restaurant it needs a makeover, with its dusty walls, paper peeling from the ceiling and nearly all of the light fittings are dusty and have a lamp out It was never like this before.Recommendations: clean the place up, fix the items that are broken, stack the tables and chairs elsewhere and make it more inviting. You either need to adapt or go out of business, and at this rate you will ....soon and it will be a shame.Get some screens made that are in keeping with the property to go between the tables

I have been here 3 times in the last 6 months and have been very very disappointed each time. This used to be a lovely cafe, nice staff, good quality wholesome food. Now it's terrible service, poor quality food at its best and rude staff if you raise any concerns. In non busy times I have waited 35 minutes for a sandwich and on one occasion over 45 minutes for a pannini in a semi busy periods. On my latest visit with only 2 people waiting for food it took them over 30 minutes to bring 1 slice of toast to the table next to me and a further 5 minutes after that for mine to arrive which was the most over cooked fish and chips I have ever seen. I will never visit this cafe again until the management and chef/cook are fired for gross misconduct. Shame really as it used to be a lovely place to visit.

I arranged to meet my husband from the train and grabbed the chance to have a look round the old station for some Christmas gifts. My husband met me but he was extremely upset. He had lost £50 from his pocket between leaving the train and popping to the bank.Fortunately, an absolute angel had picked up the cash on the car park and brought it into the old station shop, she told the shop manager that she would hand it into the police station if no one in the shop had dropped it. The manager matched my sorrowful husband with the money finder and our day was saved... So a big thank you for your honesty to the lovely lady for declaring her find and another big thank you to the staff of the old station for your assistance. Great staff. Lovely restaurant. Perhaps the best - and best value breakfast/brunch I've ever had! Nice relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff, and the breakfast can be 'tailored' to your hunger(!) - 5 items for £3, 9 for £5 (there may be others) - but I've now made three visits and always gone for the 9 item full English - it is excellent, huge, and probably makes you not need to eat again that day. Very well presented, all freshly cooked, great quality food (not budget sausages or bacon, for instance). Highly recommended!

We came here on Good Friday with our son and two Grandaughters. It was an unplanned visit as our son and his daughter were due to travel back to the midlands by train. Their train was cancelled and their next one was 2hrs later. We called into the Old Station to have a meal. We have eaten here before but not a meal. We had a 45 minute wait for the food after ordering and paying. When the food came it was very poor quality. It was mid afternoon and we got the impression that the food (scampi in particular) which my son and I had must have been cooked earlier and reheated (perhaps on a microwave) and they were more like marbles. We will not be patronising this restaurant in future and would certainly not recommend it to anyone.

OK, I'm being a little unkind; it is a perfectly satisfactory shop. Actually some good bargains are available here. It is not for nothing that coaches stop here in the summer months - though admittedly that may also be because it is a convenient stop for tea and coffee. It is more a series of shops, though one franchise appears to have recently closed. There is an extensive selection of sweaters, sportswear, socks and skirts/dresses and also biscuits, conserves and beers and spirits. All the same, Welshpool station is dismal and gives a grim introduction to the town. It was displaced from this site when planners thought that they could wish the railway away, an example now of private affluence versus public squalour that Galbraith would have recognised.

The shops are very cramped due to the width of the building and each retailer cramming their shops to the rafters. Not an ideal location for the disabled or small children. The building is exactly what it says with a spacious free car park, a wide range of interesting and varied retail outlets throughout the ground floor and a great café on the first which is reached by a staircase. Open between 9am and 5.30pm, we placed our order at the entrance counter after reading the menu written on the wall above and surveying the mouth-watering selection of products behind the glass-protected counter. The staff were welcoming, happy and relaxed, offering help in making the decision on what to take from the wide choice of food. With plenty of room, service was efficient and the hot meals that we ordered delivered quickly. Food was excellent and prices very reasonable. One male teenage staff member was clearing the tables by collecting the used crockery and, then, sweeping any debris on to the floor … and there it stayed: one minor criticism in what is a very pleasing and enticing place to spend time.

Friends baked potato - cheese but no actual potato!! To add insult to injury when we asked for tomato & brown sauce we were told we had to pay 5p for a small sachet!!!!! Will not be returning.

This old railway building is fantastic ,there are a number of franchises here .The cafe upstairs offers excellent value for food and drink, the staff here are very helpful ,with memorabilia at each turn .Downstairs you can venture on to the old platform ,covered, which is a sales area.

We enjoy visiting regularly - mainly for a coffee and possibly a toasted teacake and a browse or shop for clothes. On our way for a few days away, we decided to have breakfast there. We were unlucky that a coach had arrived just before, so decided to browse the clothes. A bit later the queue had grown smaller, so breakfast it was. Very nice and tasty. A good choice and extremely good value. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Easy parking just outside.

Lift needs a service. It keeps stopping for a few minutes mid floor. The menus are on walls, blackboards all over the place, probably in about 6 locations.Staff are nice people but need training on accessibility.I explained I had sight loss yet she tried to send me all over to look at the various fridges of soft drink.Sight loss limits mobility in a small space. They couldn't care less about me or the queue or the gentleman in a wheel chair. DISCRIMINATORY.

I have visited this place quite a few times and have never been disappointed. The staff are extremely friendly and always willing to help. During my last visit I had one of the homemade cottage pies and my partner had the gammon. Both meals were lovely and the food was brought to us really quickly especially as they had a coach in at the time. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends.

The customer service in this place is the worse I have ever experienced and as for the food I am sure it was just ready meals !! This was the feeling me and my friends felt , we all said the same and will not be visiting this place again

Surrounded by lots of stuff to buy. Easily found a gift for a friend and some Welsh crackers with Laverbread and Caerphilly cheese.

We have visited here a few times but in the main we were a bit disappointed with the food. This time we were doing some shopping as my wife was looking for welsh themed presents to take to America when visiting friends. We decided to have a tea/coffee and a cake. I went for the apple pie which looked great but turned out to be tasteless and bland. My wife had carrot cake which was ok but not great. The service was good and the staff pleasant. The environment is pleasant and interesting. The food was not overly expensive and I am sure that some of it is very good. Just a bit disappointed this time. We will try again.

Simple lunch whilst down in Welshpool on business, paninis and cuppa. By the time the 'paninis' came, our teas were stone cold, It does not take 35 mins to do 2 simple paninis. I wouldn't mind but the fillings came in mini baguettes. The bacon filling looked like it had been done in a micro. The waitress apologised for the wait but entirely insincere.

Stumbled on the New Inn for lunch. This little pub turned out to be a bit of a gem - great, home cooked food and friendly staff. A good local crowd too to add some atmosphere!

We stopped here for a few drinks and sat in the pub which was lovely. Plenty of seats and warm cosy rooms. Also had a lovely fuss of Bailey the local dog :) The landlord was very friendly and very kind to give me a birthday drink :) also he gave us some beer and cider recommendations. Reasonable prices and a spotlessly clean pub and toilets. Especially the day after New Year’s Day!! Lots of bar snacks and the landlord told us they have a pizza oven which sounds lovely so shall we come back to have one. Very good atmosphere!!!! We are staying at a local lodge and have came in here a few times. Recommend if you're in the area.

We stayed here for bed and breakfast while enjoying walking in the National Park. Rooms are spacious and clean, if nt a little dated. Friendly service from staff and a fabulous breakfast. A nice chilled atmosphere to the hotel. All reasonably priced, and we look forward to returning again.

We stayed here a few months back and found the place to be excellent again! Last time the breakfast service was poor due to a member of staff, this time the complete opposite ! The pub is amazing and has a nice atmosphere, the restaurant is lovely and the food excellent ! The staff are all really eager to please, the breakfast as I mentioned was excellent with great service ! Room 12 is a challenge for a 6’2 person but comfortable ! The bath should be replaced with a shower cubicle really but can’t fault the place overall and will always come back even if in room 12 :-)
