Well prepared and generous fish and chips.

A fabulous fish and chip supper tonight, we had a takeaway that stayed crispy and hot till we arrived home, the fish was thick and delicious with a very tasty batter and the chips plentiful and cooked golden brown, not a thing left when we finished, very enjoyable and many thanks to Marcus and thd team for the prompt service. We'll be back soon.

The queue outside moved quickly. Service was friendly and efficient. The chips were excellent and the portions huge. Great value for money.

Can be hit and miss... But when good its very good

Would have been useful if your Christmas closure details were updated on Google to prevent a wasted journey from Hereford!

Best fish and chips in Herefordshire and luckily for me only a few minutes drive away.

Visited for fish and chips as staying nearby. Tasty cod, and generous portions. God selection on menu, friendly service. Will visit again if in area!

Drove from Hereford to try the food. If I remember rightly, Marcus ( I think his name is) he use to come around the village i lived in as a kid . Food was incredible on his mobile van then and I'm pretty sure he owns and runs this shop now . Absolutely incredible, better than all the fish and chip shops in Hereford . Amazing ! This is now our new takeaway favourite. Totally worth the drive . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Haven't been here in a while yet whilst out with friends last night at The Temple we came across to grab some food.... I cannot emphasise how beautiful the fish & chips were! Real friendly service & very reasonably priced - cheaper than town! I'll be visiting a lot more often,i live in the Golden Valley so not too far to travel.

Cooked to order , beautiful Fish & Chips , fresh tasty Cod , golden batter , proper thick cut chips , Ketchup , Salt & Vinegar in the paper ate on there picnic bench outside with a tin of Coke Cola hit the spot 10 out of 10 , great service will return without a doubt , just off the A465

Always used to enjoy the food served here, but, this latest visit which will be our last, we were served soggy chips, they forgot the salt & vinegar, and the fish was appalling with thick, undercooked batter! Not a pleasant experience at all!!

Battered sausage and chips were good. Staff were friendly.

Try the Beef Curry or the Chicken Keebab. They're not Indian or Middle Eastern... However, they are awesome.

Yet again another excellent experience. How can one fish and chip shop get it so right yet others are awful? As before the haddock and chips were excellent. I simply cannot fault it. It does get very busy but you can order by phone and collect. Good value and great portion size.

The fish and the chips were nice. The batter isn't the best though, and was too hard to cut on the battered sausage. The Chinese curry sauce included bits of chicken, which wasn't pointed out. Overall slightly disappointed.

The cod snax were amazing and great value. Great crispy batter. Chips were your usual fish and chip standard.

We were on holiday, the food from the Old Stables was amazing, Highly recommend. You can phone in your order or order at the counter ( bring an umbrella as you do not go inside), all freshly cooked but worth every minute of the wait. From Battered fish, steamed fish, steak pie, sausages and chips that were light fluffy and not too greasy..plus lovely staff a perfect experience.. Thank you.

What can I say? Excellent food. Cooked to perfection by Marcus and his team.

I'm not sure if some of the reviewers on here have actually tasted decent F&C. I used this place a few times but less and less now, I called recently expecting the quality to have changed but I was disappointed. The batter on the fish is either leathery or too much and unless you ask for cod you will be served anything. As for the chips, I can't explain the taste but it is definitely different, you get a few decent sized chips but mostly just small bits. It is unusual to get fresh chips as they are mostly warmed up. Don't be first in line for the evening fry as you will get the afternoons chips. The staff are friendly and serve large chip portions but this makes up for the small bits that are thrown away and the black chips. I think most people are just loyal in a small village and there is no other choice and no competition.

I have paused at The Stables Chip Shop whenever I pass,- and sometimes drive out from Hereford specially, since discovering it in 2010. Consistently the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. Great folk too.
