Remarkably good. Excellent coffee (made properly) taste of the coffee is different to anything you would find around. It actually tastes how you would want a coffee to taste if you were to go out and enjoy one. The breakfasts and cakes look insane and we will deffo be back.

My partner and I were recommended the tea rooms by a good Friend. We made our Sunday afternoon visit to Tranquil Tea Rooms, and it was an absolute delight. Nestled in peaceful surroundings, this charming spot is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The atmosphere is serene, with lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature all around. The tea and coffee are superb, brewed to perfection, and served with a smile. But the I had the fresh homemade soup. It was hearty, flavourful, and made with the finest ingredients. Each spoonful was like a warm hug on a cool day. The service was friendly and attentive, Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to relax or well earned refreshment from rambling the surroundingareas, Tea Rooms is a must-visit. it could so easily be missed as its tucked out of the wayI But definitely should not be missed. can't wait to return and with our little cockapoo. Muddy paws are welcome too with Fresh water and treats for them.

Visited with friends after a walk around Chatsworth. Expecting half decent coffee and cake. V impressed. Coffee first class and the Lemon and Blueberry cake (shaped like a cylinder) was also excellent. Service attentive but not imposing. Covid measures all in place and followed to the t. Even the mid life cyclists; lycra clad and perspirate didn't detract from a delicious and enjoyable hour of coffee and cake. Very good.

We went for opening at 9:30 on bank holiday Monday, (they don’t always open BH). They accommodated a table with an umbrella, bad rain was imminent. The ‘ builders tea’ was perfect as was the pot of peppermint. We both had toast, poached eggs, 1 with beans , 1 with Bacon, locally sourced from Bakewell. It was good quality, hot and tasty. Breakfast for 2 was £16. We walked there from Baslow, through Chatsworth Park, very achievable 1 hour walk. We’re returning on Saturday for lunch.Only 1 gripe toast is £2.50 and to have a portion of jam is another £2.50. £5 a lot for toast and jam in my opinion.

We managed to fit in a visit before Thursday’s lockdown begins. We’re so glad we did! The staff were friendly and helpful, the COVID measures had been carefully thought-through, and the breakfasts were delicious. Lots of lovely veggie options. We had the porridge and the veggie breakfast - both fresh, tasty, and generously portioned. I had my first cruffin to take away! There was space to sit outside (and watch the birds) or inside, which had been recently refurbished, with a lovely, cosy log fire.

Called here for a coffee. As we were from a Tier 3 area and this was a tier 2 area we were told we would have to sit outside. A bit annoying but I do not blame the premises just the rather irksome and illogical Government rules as we were allowed inside at the Devonshire Arms a few yards away! The waitress was extremely courteous and I was more than happy to abide by her rules. Fortunately the weather was OK. The coffee and service were very good and friendly. The inside looked really nice. If we had had a meal I might well have given it 5 stars but we weren't hungry.

We had a very enjoyable morning in Beeley, although car parking was surprisingly difficult in such a quiet day mid week. We went for a walk then treated ourselves to coffee and cake at the Smithy. Very pleasant outside space, ideal for owners of dogs and small children! We sat inside, which I think may have been refurbished recently, and everything was as it should be at the moment. Both tea and coffee were excellent, and there was a choice of traditional and more unusual cakes. Also an extensive lunch menu. Our waitress was new, but the service was still very good.

We had quite a long wait for our food and drinks, the last time we visited here the did some lovely hand cut chips so we ordered a side dish of chips only to have some grease filled anemic looking disgusting excuse for chips brought to the table. It wasn’t for the really good service of the staff serving the tables and the fact that the soup was nice, i would’ve scored this report lower. We went for lunch and had to wait almost 50 minutes for the food to arrive. Just before our food arrived we were told by the Waitress that they had ran out of soup. You would think they would have known this at time of ordering or as soon as our order reached the kitchen. The quiche I had ordered was goats cheese from the special board they shortly after changed it to cheddar on the special boards. When the food finely arrived it was clear I had been given the cheddar one and not the goats cheese quiche. The waitress assured me it was goats cheese but it clearly wasn’t and she was very stubborn. So I thought best just to have the cheddar one. Food was nothing special and certainly not worth a 50 minutes wait! Such a shame as the surroundings were lovely.

This is the latest tea room that Jenny and I have found that’s strategically placed as we work our way around the Peak District Boundary Walk - just perfect in this case for an excellent cappuccino on a chilly foggy morning before the sun burnt off the fog as we walked. It’s set in a fine old stone building, stylishly renovated and modernised, with a selection of cakes to die for and really friendly and efficient staff. We’d fuelled up earlier with a substantial breakfast but the millionaire’s shortbread was irresistible (and so so rich...). The place was busy already before 10 o’clock- cyclists, walkers and locals - and they’d already got reservation notices out on the tables for as early for 11.30 for lunches. The moral is get here early, or be prepared to wait, or come on a sunny day when you can sit outside in the gravelled and sheltered courtyard area.

Have used this café on a number of previous occasions, though admittedly not for a while. We came here on a miserable wintry day and there was a lovely log fire burning. The menu seems to have improved, with more choice of "something a bit different" - so good that I really was spoilt for choice. It's rustic charm is surprisingly comfortable and the staff went about their duty quietly and efficiently. No frills, but the quality of the food was excellent. Hard wooden chairs, but with cushions provided. It was quiet despite being full. You can have anything from coffee and cake to a three course meal, with an extensive drinks menu and a children's menu. It is used by a lot of walkers, many with dogs, so dogs were welcome, but for me personally that was a downside - I don't like dogs in public eating places, otherwise I would have given this place a full five points. Parking in the village is difficult, but again this wouldn't bother those walking.

Stopped here for lunch while taking my step mother out for the day. Although she lives in Curbar (about 6 miles away) and we had visited the pub at Beeley previously neither of us were aware the Old Smithy existed. What a pleasant surprise our visit was as the whole lunch experience was very enjoyable. As the weather was nice we decided to sit outside in the courtyard and the waitress was quick to bring us menu's and to take our drink order. Both the meals we ordered were very well presented, my step mother had the soup of the day, in this case was Carrot and Orange, and I had the Smashed Advocado & Smoked Salmon. Both meals were very enjoyable and the waitress was very attentive to our needs. We selected this cafe from reviews on Trip Adviser and it did not disappoint. Very pleasant staff and excellent food although the portion size of my vanilla pod pancakes with crispy bacon & maple syrup were larger than I could ever manage. My husband says the sausages were best he’s had. Children all enjoyed their food too. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited last week, always a pleasure. It's been a while since we last came and pleased to see that clean dogs are welcome inside. Unfortunately ours was filthy! Luckily the outside seating is good, with blankets provided to keep out the chilly weather. Coffee excellent as usual and the carrot cake was to die for! A great place to stop when walking from Chatsworth. We didn't eat a meal but the menu was varied with a daily specials board. The glass art in the gallery side is really good, house of ugly fish - we have several pieces in our home.

This is a great cafe with really lovely food, helpful staff and a nice atmosphere. We had mushroom soup and the staff happily acceded to our request to replace the accompanying bread with a walnut and cheese scone. Both were lovely. It’s really popular with all sorts of people - cyclists, walkers, locals and ladies who lunch. There’s a lovely outside sitting area too, with blankets for the cold weather. A great place to stop and eat cake, breakfast or lunch

Called in here for lunch with my Dad. Despite it being going for 15 years I never knew it was there as it’s tucked away from the main route through Chatsworth. The food was excellent, topped off with the most delicious cakes, the Service was very efficient and the staff friendly. Now we’ve found it I can see that we will become regular visitors, particularly as they allow dogs. All in all a great find.

After a wonderful walk through Beeley we stopped off for lovely hot drinks and the obligatory ice cream. The cafe was really warm heated by a log fire, the service was quick and extremely friendly. I would highly recommend this cafe to everyone.

We stopped off here for a drink and a little something whilst out on a walk. The cheese scone (stilton and walnut) was delicious and the rest of us enjoyed various cakes. Monster sized pieces and all very well made. Good selection of drinks and comfortable surroundings.

Popped in with friends mid dog walk we sat outside and it was great....we were waited on outside with a smile...I asked for cheese on toast which wasn't on the menu.....when it came out it looked well presented and the table at the side of me asked what I ordered and did the same......it may be on the menu permanent now.......haven't eaten at night but I think they do bistro evenings....

We were asked to book to ensure enough to provide an afternoon tea but were told once ordering only 3 scones left when we were a party of 16. Also only fruit & cheese scones on offer. Jam was delicious. Hot chocolate good. Rather rude waitress who rolled her eyes in front of paying customers. Won’t be returning.

I took a family party of fifteen to the cafe today as part of our celebration for my father's 80th birthday and also my daughters birthday. I pre-booked the table and rang to confirm our booking last week. As the plan was to be that the majority of our party would be ordering a cream tea, I was assured that enough scones would be baked today to satisfy us all. Sadly, this promise was not fulfilled and there were too few scones to supply demand. I felt responsible as I had made the booking. Very disappointed.

A quick pit stop for lunch of hearty leek and potato soup and pot of tea. The soup was garnished with crispy fried leeks and small diced potatoes which was a nice touch. The flavour was lovely, but the consistency was far too thick for me - this is subjective and was easily remedied by adding some hot water. A good supply of fresh granary bread made it a substantial lunch. The service was very friendly and efficient. The menu has a good choice and there are additional specials listed on the boards.

This is a copy of my email to the owner - sent todayDear SarahMy wife (Susan) and I had an anniversary lunch at the Old Smithy today. During the meal Susan was so impressed with the food and service that she suggested booking the venue for our next year's anniversary [a bit of a milestone as it is a 40th -Ruby wedding]. I wholeheartedly agree as the setting is so comfortable and the staff were tremendous.Having talked to your staff, they advised me to email you. The date we would be looking for would be the evening of Saturday 28th July 2018. I think we would be looking for set menu catering but would like to explore options before finally deciding. deciding.I would appreciate more detail of options available. As it is we would definitely like to make a firm booking, so please let me know what i need to do to secure the booking. Many thanks David KenyonPS Please pass my appreciation to your staff who were so friendly and helpful to us and also to your kitchen staff for the excellence of the catering and menu.Think that says it all. - don't you?

We stopped at this pretty tranquil café/restaurant recently during a walk in the area. We wanted a drink and a quick snack and ordered chips. They were indeed delicious but very few. They were presented in a tin mug, looked quite attractive.....8 chips at £3.50! an absolute rip off!

Whilst I cannot fault the quality of the food, the lack of toilet facilities causes me a major problem. Previously when we have visited here we were able to use the toilets belonging to the pub next door. Having mobility problems and on medication , I politely asked if it would be possible to use the staff WC. This was refused and I was told to use the public toilets which were a considerable distance away. It took me a very painful 25 minute walk to go there and back.I am 85 years old, leaning heavily on a walking stick . I feel very disappointed as i have visited this fish shop many times in the past.

Really lovely food, you wouldn't know it from the outside/inside - it's like any other pub but the food was really good. Had the best dessert - rice pudding with apple and nuts - to die for.

We went for Sunday lunch and it was probably the best I've had, the meat melted in your mouth and the veg was brilliant with meaty gravy

Arrived around 10:45 am on 10/11/24 only to be informed that there was no hot food being served until 11:15 due to a take away order. Others in front of us left and we reluctantly ordered two coffees, a flapjack and a Pork Pie instead of the full cooked breakfasts we’d hoped for. We were charged twice for the Pork Pie, which we pointed out and were subsequently refunded for. We sat at a table that had the previous occupants breakfast plate on it (which was never cleared, considering the waiting on staff weren’t serving any food at the time) and waited for our coffee which did not arrive. We fetched it ourselves from the counter, at which point around 11:05, they started taking breakfast orders again. The place seemed poorly managed and why you’d turn away valued customers for a take away order is beyond me.
