Things sometimes go wrong but when you have staff that take care of it immediately and make it right, that’s solid customer service. Lovely stay .. get the sea view room. It’s wonderful.

This wonderful hotel amazingly, accommodating to my dog, molly, and I. The breakfast was very tasty and the hotel is surprisingly spacious and has lots of nice places to read a book etc. Superb sea front location, very historic building with wonderful staff.

Nice old hotel. Clean everywhere but needs a refurbishment. Good range of breakfast food. Self service breakfast. We had a seafront view that was great, but a Saturday night can be very busy and noisy outside! Need to pay for parking overnight that ranges from £25-27. Not many spaces, so we had to park in a nearby 24 hour carpark that cost £28 and walk about 5-10 mins back. Staff were all very friendly. Great atmosphere to the place. You can imagine it in it's heyday. Quite a maze of rooms. Good budget hotel. Would definitely return.

Been going here for 4 years now it does need a bit of TLC I appreciate old hotel but needs freshening up. Do a good breakfast shame they stopped doing scrambled eggs not everyone likes fried eggs ! I did ask the waiter if I could have scrambled eggs or even poached he returned from kitchen saying they were too busy to do this. Most hotels accommodate this so you saying just ask isn't the case at all

Best holiday we have had staff were outstanding nothing was too much trouble . Food was amazing so healthy and tasty,David has worked there 40 years and was a wealth of knowledge and he had time to share with guests . Rooms cleaned everyday and everyone worked as a team . Lift was a little slow but then it was over 100years old and added to the quirkiness. Would defo return lots more to explore.

Located right on the sea front, evening entertainment and cocktail Bar, self service breakfast, full English & fruits, yogurt ect...very helpful staff. Pre booking at £15 However do not upgrade to a king room as it's just 2 beds pushed together. Parking is very limited and the city car park located right next to the hotel is £40 a night. The Bar ladies toilets were overrun with mini flies entering through the vents. It's one of the oldest Hotels in Brighton so expect to see the age of the building. The room itself is clean and acceptable, but don't expect to have a nice hot or even warm shower as it runs cold unfortunately. No hair dryer placed in the room Does have an iron and board No kettle or glasses for tap water. It's ok for a quick stay And the staff are friendly

Great location. Room was cleaned very well by the young staff (except for the dirty windows and dust in corners but that’s not their fault). Window didn’t open, no air conditioning, it was very hot. It was very noisy and we slept badly but we did choose a central hotel so it wasn’t a surprise. Breakfast was very disappointing. Bad quality and unfriendly staff. Delia was helpful on the front desk as were the two gentlemen dealing with the cars who were very clear and forthcoming about the parking situation. The young trainee receptionist has a terrible attitude and is only interested in getting people to have breakfast etc and has absolutely no sense of how to be pleasant with a client and very obviously makes comments about people. This is not a four star hotel receptionist. You need to be clearer about your policies. I wrote to you to say we were travelling with two small dogs but the information was not added to my room and the trainee seemed most unimpressed by this. It’s your job. Also the website mentioned parking and when I asked if we had a good chance of finding a space there was no encouragement. I decided to opt for a city car park. Upon arriving we found out you actually have a well guarded garage not just parking and are insured. Why not tell your clients? We were extremely disappointed to find out OURSELVES that as we were leaving on the Gay Pride Saturday we actually had to leave at seven am instead of eleven as we had planned because of road closures!!! I asked if we could move our car to your empty garage without charge tonight to make our early departure easier as the roads will close early Despite the garage being empty and given that we have already paid for outside parking you could have made a gesture to a client. A negative answer- absolutely no sense of helping in a one off situation. There are other hotels in Brighton! Ne choisissez pas cet hôtel si vous espérez un 4 étoiles

This hotel is a joke. £17.95 for the worst, most disgusting dry tasteless breakfast I’ve ever had. Honestly you should be embarrassed that that’s what you’re serving to guests at a 4 start hotel. The bacon has easily been sat there for least four hours (rock hard) there was not glasses for juice etc and the “continental” portion is none existent. No fruit. no yogurts. No cheese and ham. Just a toaster. Could easily have walked less than five mins from here and had a cheaper, easier breakfast. Save your money.

Didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, but charged me for it anyways!!! They told me they couldn’t verify whether or not I had breakfast on one of the days during my stay as they have a sheet that they tick off daily (if you go down for breakfast) but they don’t keep those sheets for more than 24hr and get a new sheet every day - I missed the point where that’s my problem?? What’s even the point of having a sheet then if you are not going to keep it long enough to log your customers breakfast?? Maybe a good idea would be to inform your customers at the beginning of their stay about that - instead of being sneaky about it. Charged me £30 for food that I did not eat. Such a scam. Absolutely disgusting - won’t be coming back again and won’t recommend it.

The Old Ship Hotel in Brighton offers a charming and welcoming stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready with a smile and helpful suggestions for local attractions. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, boasting a wide variety of fresh and delicious options to start the day right. While the rooms were simple in design, they were clean, functional, and surprisingly spacious. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring the city. The hotel's central location, just steps from the beach and pier, made it a convenient base for sightseeing and enjoying Brighton's vibrant atmosphere.

My room was nice and comfortable, but there were some bits that needed a refresh. Paint chipped off on the skirting and some marks on the walls that needed painting over. The bar & food service was good, although it can get quite busy at times. Also, if you're entitled to a discount on your food and drink, sometimes it doesn't get taken off! I think the menu at the bar could have been better & they would probably get more customers with a couple more dishes. Breakfast was buffet style and was really nice. It would be better if you had an option of scrambled eggs and not just fried, also bread rolls instead of just bread or toast. On my 1st morning, I was walking around trying to find the tea or coffee before seeing the restaurant staff doing this as table service. I did have a very nice stay.

This hotel was in the perfect location for my trip to Brighton. The staff at both the reception and the bar were always very friendly and attentive and the breakfast was delicious with a great selection. However, the hotel had lots of quirks due to its old architecture, such as a very slow lift from the 1920s which didn’t fit many people. We could also always hear traffic and people noise from outside the hotel during the night which they provided earplugs to minimise the impact of but this was not always enough.

Cheap but good room; though some DIY is needed - carpet frayed, wallpaper scuffed and a tap without a plug. Great location that takes you out on the seafront. Service was poor. Told we could call; but never got through to a person at the desk. When we went downstairs, they were standing around joking. Likewise, accessibility for wheelchair users and buggies (I'd assume) is awful. An old lift that can barely get a wheelchair in, but also, you have to ring a bell for the disabled entrance to be opened - again, noone turned up!

We really liked the aesthetics of the old school hotel, but unfortunately the room was so airless I had an awful sleep even though it was only first of April. Fan doesn’t make a difference, window doesn’t open fully (safety I know) and what made it even worse that the wind kept kinda shaking our door the noise was very disturbing, we kept thinking someone is shaking our door. (An alarm was going on exactly the time peoples need to check out, I HOPE it was just a safety fire alarm or something and they weren’t trying to signal us to leave, lol)

Stayed at the hotel for 1 night, arrived to find easy parking at the back of the hotel. £27 for one night of parking which feels a lot but is secure and connected to the hotel. Had afternoon tea in hotel, was lovey, nice food, could had done with a couple more choices of sandwiches but was still nice. Checked into our room, which was large, spacious and clean and tidy. They offered digital tv, kettle in the room with tea and coffee. In the evening we had the murder mystery meal, good was excellent, the actual event was done by “murder 57” who were amazing, interactive and brilliant” In the evening we had a couple drinks, played some pool and had an overall lovely experience. The following morning we had a buffet breakfast which included everything you could hope for, and all the food was fresh, well cooked and plenty of it. Overall experience was 5 stars and I would highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Easy to find right on seafront, hard to park nearby but for £25 per night you can book to have your car in the hotels garage down the side of building behind locked shutters. Looked up hotel prior and was excited to use the outdoor terrace, see live music but neither of these were available - must be a summer only thing? :( Still, Loved the general feel, spaces, bar etc Fantastic desk staff very attentive and efficient. Room wasn't like the photos which showed bigger room for the booking i made and paid for, so it was a little disappointing to find it was small but it was pleasant enough and spotless ! The bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately both myself and my partner burnt our shoulder/arm on the radiator in the bathroom as it's awkwardly placed I guess and narrow in there? Overall we were comfortable and happy, we only stayed one night so didn't get to Look around the building much but very happy with the ground floor facilities and location is fab

Room was so dirty that I had an asthma attack all night and couldn't sleep despite taking all my medicines double. First time in 15 years. The single glazing brings in a lot of cold wind and noise from outside. Windows are dirty and rotting. Knobs were missing on the tap, stains on carpet, broken lamps, molt in the bed room. Everything is outdated. The bed was old but clean. You could smell the dust in the whole hotel. I would recommend a new vacuum cleaner with hepa filter and a proper ventilation system in each bath room.

We ordered this food on a whim quite late in an evening after a long day. Every single dish we ordered was a 10/10. The food was piping hot when it arrived and only took around 20-30mins to arrive. We ordered Hong Kong sweet and sour chicken, beef in black bean sauce, lemon chicken, egg fried rice and spring rolls. The portions were super generous we had enough for lunch the next day. This will definitely be our go to takeaway from now on.

Unfortunately, even though there were many things right I'll be avoiding this place. The service was impeccable, good beer, perfect lighting and lovely music. So what was wrong? A coven of aggressive women believing they ran the place because they'd booked a table. At their request the music, that I'd been enjoying, was turned off so they could conduct their meeting whilst sipping peppermint tea. I'd suggest a pub isn't an ideal place for this sort of thing. Especially if you're hell-bent on spoiling the atmosphere for everyone else. Sadly, they're regulars.
