This remains a superb place to visit and eat. Especially love the paintings on the wall by supremely talented local artists. Bring culture to rural outposts.

We got recommended to come try this little cafe not so long back and today we did. The inside is rather small and cosy making it ideal for a quiet lunch and the food was spot on. We got the afternoon tea and we both came away rather full and did not feel like we had been robbed either. Well worth a visit!

We had lunch here. We loved everything about the place. The staff were so friendly. (Our waitress had such a lovely, smiley face)! The food was excellent and the tea and coffee. The place has a nice atmosphere and pleasant decor. The paintings are so interesting to look at. We would wholeheartedly recommend this cafe and hope to go back again soon.

Well, what a fabulous lunch we all had here! Fresh, locally sourced ingredients and an imaginative menu. Wonderfully cheerful and hard-working staff keeping the place spotlessly clean and covid-safe. I had the BBQ lentil and nut burger and it was the tastiest thing ever, the chips were spectacular and the cakes were moist and light. My friends were similarly thrilled with their choices. A massive 5 stars from us!

This is our favourite 'watering hole' in Barton, run by two delgihtful sisters, Ruth and Clare. Everything is prepared, cooked, etc. on-site and is fresh, tasty, good value and worth waiting for, whilst being prepared. Open Thu-Sun - 1000-1600, + Bank Holiday Mondays. A gem to have in Barton and always warmly welcomed.

As an old pupil of the church school the Old SChool Canteen was a step back in time for me. It was amazing to browse around the museum following our meal. We called in for breakfast which was good but a little expensive in my opinion. Lovely staff, beautiful building and interesting place to visit.

Great setting in the old victorian school museum. Staff are lovely, not a great deal of space though and gets very busy. Varied menu including gluten free and vegan. Love the gift shop and visited museum with a year 6 class of children a few years ago, very authentic and immersive. Great day out.

What a special little place this is! Dropped in for a quick light lunch with my wife, we both chose the fish finger sandwich. Came in beautifully soft fresh bread (not your usual sliced supermarket rubbish) - the fishfinger, more like solid fillet goujons, accmpanied by homemade tartare and a small portion hand cut chunky chips - delicious!! Great service, great prices, excellent!!!!

This is my absolute favourite place to eat lunch in Barton, the food is so yummy and the service is exceptional. Plenty of variety on the menu, lots of locally sourced ingredients and a specials board which changes regularly, the best home made cakes it is also licensed so you can have a beer or wine with your lunch if you like. As the cafe is situated within Wilderspin Old School museum some of the dishes use or are inspired by traditional techniques such as the hot water crust pies, as well as the (more familiar to some) yummy sandwiches and paninis.

This cafe is hidden among the history of Wilderspin school. This small cafe caters for everyone and the cakes are wonderful. It boasts that local produce is used. We popped in for a coffee and whilst viewing some memorabilia we then asked what was behind some doors we were advised by the friendly staff to take a look. My advice would be to have drink or bite to eat then have a look around the old school then pop back to the cafe to finish the visit whilst discussing childhood memories.

What a fantastic find this is off the beaten track , worth a visit to this town just for this cafe. Service is faultless where nothing is too much trouble, we went twice over our weekend away in the area. Fish finger sandwich to die for as well as the the Lincolnshire poacher sandwich with carrot chutney , Beef and horseradish and ham and cheese toastie . Only sad could not try the whole menu, will visit Barton again when up north just for the pleasure of this establishment

We were walking through Barton and an elderly lady smiled at us and asked if were looking for somewhere for lunch? When we replied in the affirmative she recommended the Old School canteen, down a side street in the old village school buildings. We would not have found it had it not been for her recommendation. But it was full when we got there so the locals obviously know all about it! Excellent home made soup and sandwiches - tasty, fresh, plentiful and inexpensive. The service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

The Old School Canteen within the Wilderspin School is a lovely little place. We have had coffee there before (very nice) but today was the first time we've eaten. Our meals were broccoli and cheese quiche, ham and cheese panini and pork pie with chicken and apple cider. All served with a lovely side salad and chips. We all agreed that the food was delicious and well presented. The room was tastefully decorated and peaceful and the staff very pleasant. We will look forward to our next visit.

You can also have a wine or beer with your food if you wish. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

I thoroughly enjoyed the sausage and egg bap which really was not only excellent value for money but also extremely tasty. I also very much approved of the very nice cappuccino which was in my view so much better than many others I have had in other cafes. The menu options were also really good compared to many others.

Great pub, lovely people and perfect food. Found The Sloop Inn whilst looking for somewhere serving gluten-free food. I had gluten-free fish and chips with mushy peas which were just perfect. The staff were great, superb service and good humour. All topped off with gluten-free desert (apple crumble and custard). 100% Thank you 👍
