We had such an amazing meal here! The service, food and wine were all outstanding. We went with friends after a recommendation and our experience certainly didn't disappoint. We will definitely be returning.

Frequent often. Food is outstanding. Too rushed. The waitress was waiting at the table and put the starter on the table before my bottom had touched seat. Asked if I had finished and removal of dishes. - Impossible to respond with food in your mouth still eating. This happens every time. You can be in and out 3 courses within 40 minutes. Many customers take-out dessert due too being rushed.

Wow. First time at The Old Plough today, it certainly lived up to expectations! It wasn’t like your usual visit to a pub for a roast, it was a whole experience. The staff were so attentive and friendly, you could tell they wanted to be there. The food tasted incredible with generous portion sizes! Tony and Gina are lovely! Thank you, we thoroughly enjoyed it and we will most definitely be back soon.

Our first time visiting this delightful restaurant and not Our last . Tony and his team were so welcoming and made us feel at home straight away . The food was outstanding, and the choice of the side dishes were unreal . You will not leave this resturant hungry . Steak was on point and the sauce was perfect . The desserts you must leave space for as they were just as good . Thank you we will see you soon.

Went for evening meal at the Old Plough with wife, son and his wife who now live in the village of Ashley. It was truly brilliant. Food and service could not have been better. Delicious food, my duck a l’orange moist and really tasty, as were all the main courses our group of friends had. The included wonderful selection of vegetables were a great touch. Good atmosphere, great service, and whilst not cheap as ever you get what you pay for - highly recommended.

We ate here a couple of nights ago and were very impressed. The menu was extensive and the food outstanding. Beware! the portions are huge and the selection of vegetables that accompany the main course just kept coming. The waitress was chatty and had extensive knowledge of our interest in horses. All in all a perfect meal.

We’ve been coming here for years, it just never disappoints, had the rump of lamb which was absolutely delicious, plenty of food and such good value for money. Staff are so consistent, so professional and friendly. This will always be a firm favourite and long may it continue…

This place was recommended to us. What a lovely pub it had charm. Loved all the pieces dotted around. The food was very good I had chicken with mushrooms in a sauce the veg was served separately and there was lots of choice. The staff was very pleasant and helpful except for the old guy behind the bar I found him rude.we would eat here again

We had lunch at the plough on Sunday. Some of us were re-visiting, 2 were newbies, what a surprise they had. The food was outstanding as usual, veggies as fresh as a daisy, meat just beautiful, we had turkey beef and pork between us, all splendid. All the staff are superb, everything is no problem at all. Tony, what can I say about him, charming, grumpy, humerous all at once, no change there, we love him. So glad you got through all the lockdown, and are able to keep going. A group of 12 of us (6 couples) came to Newmarket for a weekend of racing. My wife and I had visited The Old Plough a couple of years previously and really enjoyed our visit. So, I recommended it to the group this time for our Saturday evening meal/drinks. Despite COVID restrictions, the pub accommodated us with little if no inconvenience while still following guidelines. The food is EXCELLENT. Ample on every meal with the extra vegetables supplied with each dish. Everyone in the group thoroughly enjoyed the evening with ZERO issues concerns. I would HIGHLY recommend a visit to The Old Plough.....it's 4-5 minutes from Newmarket in a vehicle. Thank you Gina for looking after us all.....we will be back!

We just enjoyed a fantastic takeaway from the Old Plough to celebrate a birthday (no counting) while in COVID-19 lockdown- beautifully presented with an unusual level of care. Booked for a specific time and ready on the dot! Main courses- filet mignon, stroganoff and teriyaki salmon all absolutely delicious (steaks perfect as ordered ) with veggies as good as if straight out of the kitchen. Puddings were just as good. Amazing service and food. Thank you very much!!

We had a takeaway on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday as we didnt want to go to a restaurant on the first evening resyrictions lifted The food was excellent, i had beef stroganoff and my husband had ribs, the portions were large and were beautifully cooked. The precautions they have in place are excellent, i ordered was given a time to collect, didnt nhave to get out of the car the food was delivered to my boot by a member of staff. First class service and food Definitely recommend

Have used the Plough for many a Sunday Roast before the lockdown. The takeaway roast they are serving now during the lockdown is just as good. It really is worth the trip to collect it. Very professional the way the food is loaded into your car. When you get home the food is still piping hot, depending where you live.We have the Turkey and Beef with , roast potataoes, new potatoes and plenty of veg and Yorkshire. It really does save all that washing up and certainly tastes better than home made. The gravy is worth a mention. Well done Plough, always good to eat in but takeaway is a pretty good substitute.

I don't really want to review this place because it has limited seating and if I review it too well, I won't be able to get in next time. The food is probably the best bar food I have EVER had and its not expensive. I absolutely love the Beef Stroganoff. All mains served with 8 veg - not on your plate but silver service. Please do not book as I want to be able to get in next time !

Great meal and the only place we’ve ever been where the choice of vegetables keeps coming...we must have been offered at least 8 different...Chocolate steam pudding was to die for... can’t fault a thing would def return and highly recommend....

Fantastic country pub with extremely friendly landlord and landlady. Great ambience but more importantly the food is first class. Would highly recommend Fillet mignon. It was cooked to perfection and the deep fried Brie with gooseberry Jelly, best ever crime brûlée to finish. Will be back soon X

We have visited this quaint old pub and restaurant in Ashley three times before, and we will keep coming back. Excellent value for money, the food, quality, presentation, and service is of a very high standard. We have not come across any other pub/restaurant that comes any where near the high standard of The Old Plough.

The service is really nice. Everyone is helpfull. Interior of the place is amazing, highly recommend.

A went here for a family/work meal. The food was amazing one of the best meals I have ever had. The staff were friendly. I love the way the place looked inside. The toilets were clean and I love the animal theme in there. I would highly recommend the old plough if your passing. I shall be returning.

For friendly landlords, traditional well cooked food, and a nostalgic rural ambience you can't go wrong... and you'll never come away hungry - highly recommended!

Recently visited for dinner following a recommendation ..The Old Plough is a charming , friendly place. The food is superb and the portion sizes are huge . Excellent menu choice and a large dessert board! The service was excellent. I will definalty be returning 👌🍽🥂😿

My wife and I were staying nearby and didn't fancy travelling very far for our evening meal so booked a table. Glad we did. We both had the duck dish and I have to say it was great. Very well cooked and came with a large selection of vegetables. We were struggling towards the end but after a while we decided to have a dessert as well. The creme brulee was excellent. The service was second to none. Would definitely recommend.

What a wonderful evening we had in The Old Plough last night. First and foremost the food. The food is really good - hearty fare with a french twist, and my gosh the vegetables - the vegetables kept coming out and our plates were full! The desserts were also great and tasty. Service was quick and attentive. Absolutely a must if you are in the area - but this is a small pub so advise to book early!

Had the 3 course Sunday Lunch which was delicious. Prawn coctails to start were tasty, but the bowl they are served in are wobbly due to the small central bowl and very wide rim. The mains were Pork (with excellent crackling) and delicious lamb.... all served with the massive choice of wonderfully delicious veg. The Creme Brulee and the pofitrols were also very tasty and a tasty end of the meal, finshed off with a brew.One of the best Sunday lunches in the area and well recommend that you put the Old Plough as next on your list.

Lovely warm welcome from jovial Tony and Gina who do a great job. Delicious food and everything was just perfect. The salmon was cooked perfect and all served with proper vegetables.

SO MANY VEGETABLES!!!! 4 different roasted animals, every edible root, all bean types and even cauliflower cheese. Also complimentary mint chocolate gift baskets. A pillar of Newmarket's culinary scene - absolutely do not miss.

We had only just moved in and needed to celebrate my wife's birthday so booked Sunday lunch. What a surprise and a wonderful meal, service was amazing we had the choice of 15 vegetables, how brilliant is that. All in all fantastic.

Fantastic meal and good service as usual

We ate here twice this week, on both occasions the food was lovely. The staff were efficient and friendly, even though we had never been before we were treated as valued customers. The menu is very varied and does cater for most tastes. Tony, mine host, was also very welcoming. The restaurant is oldie worldie but very comfortable, with a good selection of wines spirits and beers.

I took my wife to the restaurant. The Old Plough for her birthday as I had read good things.. I thought it was rather expensive for the quality of food. I am happy to pay expensive but want the food to match up. The king prawn in garlic was a good starter and tastes good. I had steak au poivre for main. The steak was OK nothing special. The dissapointing thing was that some of the veg had been obviously thawed from frozen as they are out of season.. Brussels sprouts nearly in May?. For the price there should just be some nicely cooked seasonal veg with some seasoning to taste or even a bit of butter mixed in. These veg were not all that and we're only saved by a half decent Cauliflower cheese side addition.. Neither of us fancied a dessert so elected for an Irish Coffee which hit the spot.. Overall I would rate it Above Average but the price to quality I would rate as below average.. Its up to you! Take a chance and make your own mind up.

On a short holiday in the area and had a Saturday evening out in The Old Plough, it was really busy but thankfully we had booked a table for our party of four.

Well Tony and the team were fun, polite, and certainly professional. The Old Plough was very busy but somehow our table of 8 was served throughout the meal and the wine was also dispensed during our partaking in a very timely but comfortable manner. The food was really very good and we couldn't remember ever being offered such a large array of vegetables with our mains. The wine list was very versatile offering choices any connoisseur could want at a large range of prices for all pockets and tastes; some being excellent quality and great value too. Desserts, coffee and liqueurs were also superb.

Had the best meal last night we've had in a long time. The food was amazing the vegetables were the best I've had! Even my teenage kids were loving it. Great atmosphere and lovely, clean and quiet. 100% recommended.

We were able to book a table for seven at short notice, and were in the back room. This was an advantage, because it was quiet, and also relatively spacious. The landlord has an unusual sense of humour - just visit the loos to see why. The food was plentiful and well cooked. The vegetables never seemed to stop coming. I think I counted about eight different types of vegetable! I decided not to buy the parachute.

Amazing food as usual despite there being only a roast and I’m a vegetarian! The veggie selection was amazing so many and all equally delicious.

We had lunch here today on a recommendation and couldn't believe how good it was. It was the best Sunday lunch we have had for a very long time and we eat out at some very expensive restaurants. The price was £25 for three courses and coffee. We struggled to eat everything and there were actually 14, yes 14 vegetables on our plate (they just kept coming). Service was exceptional and very prompt and friendly. We all had different meats which were tender and plentiful with excellent accompaniments. The desserts were beautifully presented and very tasty. Chocolates came with the coffee, not just one each but a little bowl full!! We will certainly return.

Today we went to the Old Plough Ashley for the first time ever and had a table booked for 12 noon. On arrival there were already several people sitting at their tables looking at the menus.

From stepping through the door upon arrival to stepping out after our meal, the evening experience was first class.

Always a superb meal here - and what better on a hot summer evening than lobster salad washed down with a chilled New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc...

This pub/restaurant is amazing. Old, full of interesting character and decorous humour. Choose from the Pub type menu or Fine Dining and both are of the highest quality and freshness. Plenty of space and a private function room too. Superb ales to try and the owner is a wine Guru.
