Friendly, clean, quiet pub for a pint if you have time to kill before going to Piccadilly train station.

Bar man was not very happy, stunted atmosphere, we put empty glasses on the bar as we left and a man at the bar asked us what we were playing at which I found very odd.

Traditional pub, well kept Holts, friendly staff, good vibe and nicely busy for an afternoon meet up.

Came across this by chance. And what a decent find. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Thank you

Quick pint upstairs. We sheltered from the naff Mcr weather so quick drink n away. Unlikely to see posh people with white false teeth accompanied by plastic bits n lips here, more like down to earth folk.

Didn't have food, so can't rate it. But, everything else was great.

When we were inside a person we didn't know came in and started scolding all the people in the bar. The owner did nothing about it. Many people left because of this fact.

Horrible. Expensive pints, the waiter looks like he don’t want to work but trully he es bored. Full of strange people and annoying drunk people.

It's in a great location and has a great atmosphere! There is a bar on the ground floor and a smaller one up on the first floor. You can book the top room for events etc. Last time I visited. There was a dog. Nice.

Over £26 for 4 glasses of wine, not feeling it!

Very good Manchester pub about 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly Station. Six cask ales on handpump when I visited including a mild. Fairly quiet after the Spurs game at the Etihad. The pub was Manchester brewer Joseph Holt's first ever new-build house in the city. Built on the site of the Queens Arms beer house, it opened in 1993.

Nice little pub good service and a nice atmosphere

It's an ok pub for the city centre but the prices for a pint are steep. £5.60 for a pint of strongbow doesn't make it a night out venue.

When visiting Mcr don't forget to search 'Holt's Brewery' pubs for value for money and authentic Manchester hospitality and characters... the Old Monkey is one of the best (inc the Ape and Apple, and the Crown and Anchor).

Absolutely amazing comedy night with Trap Door here! Love that they can draw in top notch comedians for a show that is six quid a ticket! It’s phenomenal! Shame about the surly bar staff that refuse to give a full glass of sodding Coke!

Loud and full of rough people. Very loud. My left ear started ringing. The strangers talk to you and want to shake your hand. He got so offended when I did not.

100% recommend for the staff alone. Bar staff were exceedingly friendly and imparted a load of local knowledge to me, a first time solo visitor to Manchester. The second day I visited, I was in a bad situation and the owner helped me out tremendously (without me asking). I can't possibly thank her enough. Will defo be back next time I visit.

Small but sweet place at the ground floor and more on the first floor

If you are looking for a good meal then this is the place to go. Good portions and not too expensive. They also have a range of craft beers to choose from.

Great Holts Pub where you cab still get Holt's dark mild .

We recently hired the upstairs function room for a birthday party. The room is a good size for around 60 people. The landlady was friendly and helpful as were all the staff. The buffet was fantastic, a good mix of hot and cold food. Plenty for everyone. Would recommend to anyone wanting a small pub venue in a central part of Manchester.

Un pub tradicional de Manchester, tal vez nosotros llegamos muy temprano (alrededor de las 7 PM) pero no había nada de buen ambiente, ya había gente, pero no había musica, todo eso se sentía muy fúnebre. Solo nos tomamos una media pinta y nos fuimos a otro pub.

Not the best boozer that Manchester has to offer but it is still a very decent boozer with a good pint of holts.

Darren behind the bar (short,chubby, wee fella) charged me four times for a two dashes, I asked Darren why, I was told; “that’s just what we do”. My friend paid double for his dash aswell. I thought this was odd so I stood at the bar, another customer ordered a spirit and dash, who only paid for one, when I asked why, Darren said “because he’s only drinking soda”… I thought I heard him asking for a spirit, could be my mistake. However, when my other friend was served by the older gentleman behind the bar, he was not charged double for a dash. Very confusing

Cracking pint of bitter, no knobheads, proper pub.

A Holt's pub serving a good selection of real ales and IPA. They also serve Mild which is something you don't see often nowadays! A good traditional city pub, nice.

Shutting early is OK if it's done in a professional manner. This wasn't and the barman just couldn't wait to get the away. Avoid on a Sunday night.

Decent place with a reasonable range of drinks, meals are good value for money with the curry being very nice.

Ho trovato questo pub mentre girovagavo per Manchester e il nome mi ha attratto fin da subito. Ho pranzato con una pie ripiena di carne e una birra: tutto era squisito e soprattutto, visti gli standard dei prezzi inglesi, anche economico. Lo consiglio anche solo per una pausa, si respira proprio l'aria da tipico pub inglese.

Etwas eingestaubtes Klientel aber es ist ein Pub. Zum Bier trinken völlig akzeptabel. Falls man von den Toiletten nicht mehr hoch in die Bar kommt weiß man das man genug hat.

Decent wee pub. Over a fiver for a pint - which is a bit cheeky - that's maybe why there were seats available.

Won't be going in here again. Barmaid shocking. Refused to serve a friend saying he was to drunk. So we left & went in a few other bars to have no problem getting drinks for the rest of the evening. She was very judgemental. Personally I think it was because there was a 12 of us both female & male & she was expecting a quiet night

What a great pub, we loved it, a proper old fashioned boozer with a great atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and ensured quick service. The prices for drinks was great and the food delicious. We would highly recommend calling in for a drink.
