30 degrees C? Pah, sometimes you have to have a roast dinner on a Sunday and thankfully The Kings Head offered a carvery today. I was able to have a piece of all three roasts in play on the day (lamb, turkey and gammon) and all three were melt-in-the-mouth moist and juicy. Granted, I had to munch my way through all the veg, roasties and a yorkshire to get to the meat, but there you go. (Special mention for the creamy leeks). The service at both the bar and the carvery counter was friendly, prices reasonable (so, by Yarmouth standards, excellent value) and the atmosphere was good.A 5-star pub carvery that I think you'd be very challenged to beat in the West Wight area.

We visited this pub recently at the end of a great day trip to the Isle of Wight. We had a much needed drink and I decided to change from my shorts to my jeans before boarding the ferry back. I managed to leave my shorts in the ladies loo and didn't realise till I got back to our hotel in Lymington. I rang the pub who said they would post them to my home in Liverpool. I thought i wouldn't see the shorts again but sure enough they turned up in the post last week. So I just want to say a big THANK YOU to the staff at the King's Head who went above and beyond. There are still some lovely people in the world!

We went as a group 7 pints of excellent real ale cost £32 which was the most expensive pub of the week. We then had food which was well priced compared to the beer. (10 to 15 for a main). The food was good solid pub grub, well cooked and large portions, good fuel basically. The pub is quite characterful geared up for the locals (the sea rowing club was meeting in the pub) as well as passing visitors. the landlord and staff were very friendly helpful and accommodating with good service, the locals were very chatty and made us feel welcome.Good pub with a good atmosphere and ok food. The beer was good but seemed pricey. Would go in again, but would also try somewhere else in the town just the same.

I’ve been here many times before but strangely never reviewed it! ... let’s fix that. My last visit was on World Cup semi final day. While they don’t normally have TVs on they had arranged 2, which was just what my customers wanted. We couldn’t get a table with a view, but the bar sufficed! Meanwhile the sensible ones amongst us retired out of sight of the tv! The food here is always reliable, and even on busy days like this it was the same and reasonable quick and the beer is good.I am certain I’ll be back many times this summer. If only they had a loyalty scheme I could use!

This pub is very close to the ferry to Lymington and therefore very handy for a drink and or a meal before catching the ferry. Having used the pub a number of times in the past a group of us booked again for an evening meal. On arrival we found that the pub had apparently changed hands. All the staff were different and the menu was very much reduced in content. There is a Specials Board which in past times listed a number of very good and appetising meals. It now lists aa few light bites. The main menu is small and the majority of our group settled for whitebait starter followed by sizzling steak. On ordering at the bar we had to queue to place an order and pay for each meal which proved to be a lengthy process.

Lovely setting for a drink in the garden, but extremely expensive and small portions for food. Excellent quality food, just pricey. Also check before you go. I almost had an argument about whether we were allowed to order food and especially in the garden, quite odd.

I have know the Kings Head in Yarmouth for many years, the old terrible toilets and questionably food never put me off as it felt like my local. But with the recent change of ownership everything has changed for the better. The bar staff are superb, couple of full time chaps who are kind and quietly spoken and efficient. The food has improved and is great, good choice and quality is good. Only request would be to add a Halloumi Burger on the menu! The new toilets have lifted the pub from a 1970's throwback to a lovely place to spend an evening, or lunchtime, or both! I go with my family and to have a pub where you can sit a play cards and drink good beer and eat good food is heaven.

A friend and I ate at The King's Head recently. There are quite a few foods that I am intolerant and allergic to and I worry that I will eat something I shouldn't when dining out. I spoke to Kayliegh when I booked a table and she reassured me that she would be able to serve me something completely vegan,. I had a good choice of meals, all of which sounded delicious, the one I chose was! Kayliegh and Darren went out of their way to make sure that we were looked after and we had a fantastic time and really great food. I strongly recommend this pub, which is now my favourite pub on the Island, not just for the delicious food, huge selection of gins and beer, but also for the warm and friendly atmosphere along with the most amazing service. Thank you King's Head!

We spent an afternoon here waiting for the bonfire night carnival. It was freezing outside, but we were greeted by an open fire and a cosy, old style bar. I had crab mac and cheese and my husband had a double bacon and cheese burger - it was huge! Both meals were fantastic, with quick friendly service too. Very reasonably priced for both food and drinks. Well worth a visit.

Had meals for four people on Sunday evening in late October. The pub was buzzing with a lot of locals and visitors which provided a pleasant atmosphere. The ales were good so we decided to eat there on the basis that we had heard that the owners were the same as for the Wheatsheaf, pub, the one just behind the Kings Head, and the food there was good. However, the meals eventually arrived after a very long wait and it was plainly obvious they had been sitting under heat for some time. All of the meals were dried out and somewhat overcooked. An omelette that could have been mistaken for a pancake, cheesy leek sauce that was setting fast and meat so dry that it was difficult to chew, let alone digest. It was such a shame because the Kings Head is in a prime position in Yarmouth and having eaten at all the other establishments over some years, it is definitely the worst food in Yarmouth that I've experienced.

Could tell the pub was still undergoing some changes as it's a bit bare and old looking but the staff were super nice and attentive, there was a great beer and food selection and it had a nice atmosphere. Some really drunk people came in and probably shouldn't have been served but the landlord quickly sorted that out without causing a scene. We enjoyed a few pints, some dinner and the opportunity to play some card games we brought on a rainy afternoon- very nice!

After having a look around, many of the other places to eat on the main street were packed so we headed into this hidden treasure tucked in on the side street leading to the main street from the quay.It was an excellent choice made by my girlfriend to eat here, we had a lunchtime snack and drink as a pit stop on our tour of the Isle of Wight. My girlfriend went for the roast chicken spring onion and mayo sandwich and I had some really tasty salt n pepper squid which was a starter but a perfect lunchtime snack with some chips. The food was an absolute delight and hit the spot for a snack and I went for a nice bitter, which i forget the name of it but i was a wonderful pint. What made this a great visit was the service was excellent and the pub has lots of character about it and I certainly feel this is a place well worth popping into for a bite to eat and a drink.

We go here every time we visit the Island, and have always been pleased with the standard of what we've been served. This time around one of us had the Plaice, two had fajitas (generous but not enough wraps) and one had a beef burger. We were all pleased with our food, and the service was good enough, considering the large tables of (quite rowdy) holiday makers there over the bank holiday. The pub has good character, and doesn't feel like it's trying too hard to look 'oldy-worldy', like some places. The bar was busy, but then, everywhere else was, so not their fault. We'll go back next time we visit.

We really liked this pub. Plenty of character, bar staff were friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, and I can safely say, the Mussels in Cider sauce were the best Mussels I have ever ever eaten! Great stuff. If I had one complaint, I would say that they shouldn’t serve Movenpick Ice Cream (it’s not that nice), and instead should serve local Ice Cream like the New Forest Ice Cream Co, as that is so much better! Apart from that, really enjoyed it.

We have always visited the kings head on our regular visits to Yarmouth, a beautiful harbour with excellent marina staff by the way. Sadly this weekend I ordered a venison burger. When it came the meat smelt and tasted rank. I quietly questioned this at the bar, not wanting to cause a big problem, the bar man went to speak to the kitchen. Their response was that they had served it all week without a problem, and I was left to get on with it. Obviously I left the burger and ate the rest, having regretted being so polite. When the waiter came to clear away he asked if it had been ok, when I repeated my complaint he said " oh dear" cleared and left! Needless to say we won't return and strongly advise others to think twice.

A group of 6 of us went over the weekend after a recommendation. on a personnel level i thought at best that the food was less than average and the service was lacking. i came away feeling underwhelmed. So underwhelmed in fact i cant remember what other people had.A couple of issues i feel are worth mentioning - My duck breast was over cooked. Asked for pink came out medium +.4 out of 6 guests had chips with their meal, so they all come out in a big bowl - whats that about?normally i would had said something on the night, but i was with friends i hadn't seen for a while so kept quiet and paid the bill.it was just OK, and just OK shouldn't be charging those prices, hence the low score.

One of those pubs which feel right the moment one crosses the threshold; must have been lovely before all the bars were opened into one as most pubs are nowadays. Old Rosie cider on draught always cheers me up but the best thing was Bob, who plays the piano Sunday afternoon 2.00 - 5.00pm. The man is a pianistic human jukebox, if you can imagine a jukebox which features "My pink half of the drainpipe" alongside "Three little maids from school" and Tom Lehrer's "Masochism Tango". An afternoon of top-notch entertainment!

We stayed in the B&B room on the first floor- comfy bed and a large nicely appointed room. Staff were very helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. Good value for money, although it is primarily a pub so you can hear a gentle 'hubbub' of voices from the bar until closing time (1130). The pub has real character, beams, flagstones and log fire. Beer very good and breakfast was super. We will probably stay again and can recommend it.

We booked a table for 6 for lunch as part of our two-day island cycling tour. We brought our bikes in to the small yard at which point a man appeared from the kitchen and ordered us to take them out again saying: "We're in and out of here all the time." So we started to do what he said and as we did so he said: "Don't put them there either," without indicating where 'there' actually was. Now they weren't that busy so the thing to do would have been to tell us where our bikes could be parked rather than barking at customers what they couldn't do. We would have moved on but one of us had already gone in to get drinks. We spent £110 in an otherwise empty pub in the end over two hours and not once did the traffic warden/kitchen person or anyone else try to access anywhere our bikes could have gone during that time. The experience was lifted by the lovely motorcycling waitress and the food wasn't too bad at all.

19th April -Treated ourselves to an evening meal of ham egg and chips at The Kings Head which was on the expensive side at about £8.95. They were busy, mostly because Yarmouth Harbour had a UNIQUE free offer of a night's mooring in celebration of the completion of the new marina. Cash and carry plastic ham served with stale egg (watery, all over the plate) and BAKED BEANS! On cold plates. Chips OK, nothing special. Used to like the place (nice red wine) but now will have to rethink. Did use their free WiFi ( they charge in the Harbour) so shouldn't grumble. However, have had good meals there before and don't like to see the standards drop.

The Solent was sunny and pleasantly warm but with little wind, so by 6 o/clock Yarmouth harbour was getting full. We decided to set off at 6:30 to avoid the rush but nearly missed eating as others, better organised, had booked up most of the pubs and restaurants. We spotted a table coming free in the Old Kings Head and grabbed it.It was a lucky choice as we enjoyed a good meal, good beer, reasonably priced. Three of us shared a starter of whitebait and two had the fish lasagne. Unusual, as the pasta was not in sheets and there seemed more haddock, prawns and cheese than pasta.Very pleasant service and ambiance, booking advisable when the yachties are in town.

Fantastic! Welcomed in with a friendly smile, the ladies were lovely at all times. Hot drinks all tasty, served with a cute little biscuit on the side.
