Spent a lovely afternoon celebrating my birthday over a delicious Sunday roast. Food was plentiful and tasty. Special shout out to our server Ashleigh who provided excellent service and nothing was too much trouble. Look forward to returning again soon.

A fantastic roast, in a lovely setting. Ashleigh our waitress was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. There were six in our group, l had the beef which was lovely, others had lamb and belly pork. All were cooked perfectly, with a generous selection of vegetables, we also had cauliflower cheese as an extra. Some of our party shared a dessert but I was too full! Would definitely recommend, and we will be back

Lush roast dinner, only pub that serves late in the area, food came out hot (which for a roast is rare), plenty of veg, not stingy on the gravy and brought out a big jug when we asked for extra!! Homemade ice cream was delicious too!!

Had an excellent stay, very clean, staff could not be more helpful, an excellent breakfast. Sunday lunch to die for we will be back very soon

Wonderful hotel, spotless and friendly staff. Breakfast and Dinner were excellent . We had a dog friendly room. I believe it was fairly new and didn't want anything. All we needed was there

We stayed for two nights for a wedding and had a fantastic stay. Friends joined us on one night for dinner and the food was exceptional. Two individual Beef Wellingtons, a Venison and a pork dish were all beautifully presented and tased as good as they looked - if not better. The veggie breakfast was so good I ordered it both days. All the staff, from Caroline (housekeeping) to Ashley and Tyler in the pub, were friendly and genuine in their approach. If you don't have a reason to stay - find a reason to eat! The rooms are lovely, in a little block at the top of pub. These are accessed by steps but you can enter via the slope in the rear car park. Lovely modern bathrooms, and cool as the walls are quite thick. Highly recommended.

Visited on more than one occasion during June. New menu is excellent. Food is delicious, presentation great and service is first class. Staff are always so pleasant and ready to help .

Excellent buffet provided by the old house for my birthday. I said I don't want a beige buffet and I certainly didn't get that. I said i want colourful summer vibe, i certainly got that. All the food was made in house, bread baked that morning, beautiful tastes, colours, imagination was awesome, it wasnt your average by any means, presentation was second to none, it was truly magical, my guests said they had never seen a buffet like it. If your having a special occasion I would definitely recommend you ask at the Old House. I was blown away and so will your guests. I'll leave you to look at the photos!

Visited today for lunch and both of us were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and presented very nicely. Bit of a trek for us but it was worth it! Very friendly waitress.

We went for Sunday lunch which was impressive and enjoyable. Excellent food, good atmosphere - lovely old pub. Service was also top rate, very friendly and efficient. Would definitely return. Did find it a struggle to park but managed to get a space at the front once someone left (we always turn up too early)

Back to being Great, we have been coming here for years on and off. Through thick and thin , at long last the food now matches the quality of the setting . Very impressed with Sunday Dinners ( midday)

Following a long drive to and from London we were looking for somewhere with a nice quiet atmosphere and good food. We decided to stop off at The Old House At Home and we really weren’t disappointed. We arrived to a pleasant welcome, our table initially wasn’t ready so we were asked to wait at the bar and order some drinks, before we could even order drinks our table was promptly ready. We then ordered drinks and food, we opted to share a ham hock terrine for a starter and mains were pork loin wrapped in Parma ham and red snapper. It took a little while for the food to come but definitely worth the wait, the flavours were incredible in every single dish, as they say in Master Chef “it’s like an explosion of flavour in your mouth”. The chef is clearly very talented and as you can see by the photographs the food is also bright and vibrant in colour. For pudding we opted for deconstructed cheesecake and eton mess in a basket, again these dishes were incredible. We will 100% be returning to The Old House At Home and will also be recommending to family and friends.

Enjoyed a wonderful surprise birthday party organised by some friends. The food was delicious, the best steak I have had for ages, not to mention the scrumptious dessert with candle , and the staff were delightful Also a complimentary drink. Thanks to all concerned.

Excellent service, we stayed for one night with our well behaved 17 month lurcher who was welcome. Room was clean, great shower system, good heating system if you wanted to cook yourself. Hot water to the room excellent. Bed - duvet plush. Very few strange bits, easy to rectify. Chair in our room, unsuitable to actually sit at the counter - too high. Furniture seemed very modern, I would dial it back in time but that's just a personal liking old things. Now another plus point is the Summer, great area out out the back, I can see a pint of Pims slipping on to the tab. We also had a meal in the evening, food excellent and mid priced. Breakfast also perfect. Front of house staff, brilliant and happy. The evening lass and young lad on morning duty extremely helpful. Places like this have to do fell and even the room rate was fair. We will definitely return.

Sunday roast was delicious. Lovely place to eat , lots of quiet corners and areas for large parties. Staff could not have been better, polite and attentive . Very reasonable prices. I won’t hesitate to return.

Went with friends on a Travelzoo offer and thoroughly enjoyed everything. A great reception and service, comfortable and warm environment and delicious food. An interesting and varied menu that (unusually) I found that I could happily have chosen everything from. We will surely return.

Visited recently with a travelzoo voucher. Was not disappointed. Lovely little place tucked away in a sleepy village. Inside very tastefully decorated. Service was very good. The food was to die for. I also liked the fact you could see the chefs cooking. My hot salmon and horseradish starter was lovely and the rissotto the best I have ever had. My husband loved the burger and said how tasty and fresh it was. Would definitely recommend this place with flying colours

I booked a room for me and my wife to relax and have a nice meal. Ashamed to say this was the worst service I’ve had in a long time. The food was late and cold. The staff are totally disinterested . I ordered my main and 40 mins later I receive a cold plate and a hard boiled egg on top. This place used to be over and above good what’s happened.

we have been in here many times but the other night was SHAMEFULL, 2 of our meals on our table of four were haddock & chips , these were absolute CRAP & the cook and i say cook as any chef would NOT have sent this out !! it was so brown it was almost black & i said to the waitress it looked like it had been to cyprus for a month !! it was taken away but 5 mins later it made another appearance " YES YOU READ CORRECT THE SAME PIECES OF FISH WERE OUT FOR A SECOND TIME ! & this time the really dark brown batter was so hard i snapped it in half !!! i then said to the chap waiting the tables that if you hit someone with it theyde have concussion !! THESE 2 MEALS WERE £31 & WAS THE WORST FISH I HAVE EVER SEEN , WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS KITCHEN & WHAT IS OUT THERE COOKING ? GODKNOWS AS IT AINT GOOD, the meals were taken off the bill BUT BY THEN I WAS PISSED OFF . TO THE MANAGEMENT SORT YOUR KITCHEN OUT & CHANGE THE OIL MORE OFTEN !! SHAMEFULL FOR SENDING IT OUT !!!!! WONT BE SPENDING ANY MORE OF MY MONEY IN HERE THATS FOR SURE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We came for lunch last weekend to celebrate our friends getting engaged, we didn't realize that there was 30% off the menu as it was January which was a nice surpise. The starters were great, loved the frickles, burnt ends and pork belly bites! 2 of us had the burger which was huge, 1 fish and chips and 1 sausage and mash and for pub grub all was cooked well and tasty. Only thing i would say is we there were 3 staff 2 of which were stood cleaning glasses and our table was left uncleared until after we paid the bill approx 20 mins.

Sunday lunch was excellent only slightly tarnished by the place being cold. Food was excellent and my roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was superb. Food serving was timely and the staff were efficient and very warm and friendly. Unusually it was possible to order the beef how you wanted it and my medium rare was actually medium rare. There were three of us and we all agreed about it was but two out of three were cold.

We have eaten here many times over the years but tonight's experience was the best we've had. The restaurant has recently changed ownership and has a new chef. The menu was great, the food was absolutely delicious, the presentation was delightful and the service was outstanding. They have a great deal on food this January so treat yourself to a freshly cooked fantastic meal - you won't be disappointed.

Decided on an impromptu lunch at the OHH. New management, menu changing tonight. Excellent choice on menu and specials board. Great welcome, seen to table and immediately asked if we’d like a carafe of water. Menu and orders followed on. First course arrived, freshly cooked and was delicious. Subsequent courses ,the same, ended up having three. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Staff very attentive and friendly. All in all excellent meal, food and atmosphere.

Great birthday lunch. Attentive and friendly service even changes our table to a better one upon our arrival. Food was excellent and all four starters we had were fantastic. I booked a table for my husband and I for a late lunch requesting a snug area near an open fire. When we arrived at 3pm amazed to find car park’s full apart from one space. We ordered drinks and moved to our table which was what we requested. Very cosy and warm especially as we could hear the wind and rain beating on the windows. We ordered Thai fish cake and smoked salmon & cream cheese roulade for starters followed by pan fried calf’s liver with black pudding mash and haddock & chips. Quite a wait for the first course but no problem as we weren’t in a hurry. Starters good and my husband’s haddock too was good. Sadly my calf’s liver was mainly gristle and nice buttery mash but I couldn’t taste the black pudding. After a break we both chose sticky toffee pudding with coffee. Pudding presented well and yummy. We had to ask for coffee as didn’t arrive. Friendly staff and a leisurely lunch. We would return but try different dishes

Been many times over the years. In the 00s and early 2010s, the kitchen was superb. Lots of choice, really well cooked meals such as the woodland duck, liver and bacon, prawn linguine and the mars (can also use ‘heart’) attack. The kitchen has been steadily getting worse. The menu has been slowly losing interesting items, gaining ‘classics’ such as burgers, pizza. The current menu only has a single vegetarian main, and only two fish options, with the rest being meat. The worsening menu has only got more expensive, so the shift from restaurant to gastro pub has not been reflected in the prices. To our meal: the burger was overcooked and dry. Maybe because it was strangely formed, almost like a meatball in shape with a huge round center. The cod was served cold, lacked flavour, and the skin was soggy. The sausages were tough and bland. The tagliatelle was nice, but just a bit flavourless. The highlight was the small plates, which were quite nice. Pork bites were slightly overcooked but very tasty. It’s just sad to see what used to be a really ambitious restaurant with a really small, safe, menu. It’s worse that those ‘safe’ items aren’t even prepared well. The service was very friendly- no issues at all with any of the staff.

We went on a Travelzoo deal and it was just superb. The welcome was lovely - very personable and polite, striking just the right balance, and both members of staff who dealt with us were great - they clearly are very good at their job. Our starter (a sharing platter) was delicious - and the mains - we both had pork belly - were delightful, too, and so tasty. We finished with lovely coffees. All in all, this is a great place to go to eat - out first time. It is really cosy and comfortable inside. A tiny bit scruffy outside, near the car park, but a minor point. We hope to return to have the same quality of food and service - some of the best food (if not the best) we've had while eating out in 2023!

It was the first time at this pub with my family the food and service were brilliant. Lovely location and interior. Staff are kind and welcoming, I would 100% recommend.

Had an excellent lunch here with my wife and 4 friends. Food was of top quality and there was a good varied choice of starters and mains, (then too full for desert). Service was good and although it was a bit quiet we made our own atmosphere. The wine and beer were also top quality. We’ve been visiting this pub for a few years now, when we’re in the area seeing family. We enjoyed an early supper last night, it was superb. My 6yr old demolished his homemade burger, the vegetarian tagliatelle was delicious and the 1kg porterhouse steak was a nice surprise. I demolished that! The food and service here is 1st class, every time. This is a destination pub for sure. Puts our local pubs to shame! Highly recommend dining here, well worth the travel if you’re not local.

Since their "re-launch". seems to be fairly consistent. Been a few times, calves liver always good Pork Bon bones great starter, didn't rate quite so much but that's just me! 10% service is now added. Is this because folk have stopped tipping? We would always tip according to the service received, minimum of 10% but don't like to "faff" about asking to remove etc.

We visited for Dinner at 7pm ordered our food from a very limited menu food took a good 30 minutes to arrive the steak my husband ordered was not cooked enough had to be returned which was brought back in 5 minutes. My Venison sausages were very tough and chewy and the kale was very undercooked. All staff seemed to be running around. Will not visit again.

Stopped off on the way home from a Castle Combe race track day.(3pm). Had not pre booked a table as was a last minute decision. Had a very warm and friendly welcome from staff. Food was fantastic, very tasty and really good sized portions. Waiting staff very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend eating here and we will certainly be visiting again.

We stayed here for two nights an we were so very happy with our choice. The room was beautiful and quiet, the bed was comfy. We also had breakfast and dinner in the pub and it was really delicious. And most of all, we were overwhelmed by the kindness of the staff!☺️ We really loved the warm and welcoming atmosphere and highly recommend a visit here!

Our stay at The Old House at Home in Burton Chippenham was exceptional. The staff's friendliness added to the inviting ambience. Ample free parking was a plus, and the spacious rooms were comfortable. Special kudos to the cheerful and helpful cleaning lady who made our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Stayed for one night after an afternoon at the race track. Room was spacious and clean with a lovely bathroom. We had a two course evening meal in the pub which was excellent. The staff were attentive and friendly. Breakfast the next morning was well cooked and tasty. Wish we lived closer as would certainly go back for a drink/meal.

We came across this place while on holiday and decided to book for some pub grub, so pleased we did. From the minute we walked in Louisa made us feel so welcome, couldn’t have been more friendly & warm. She was the only one serving and doing the bar yet was very attentive to every table and really couldn’t have been more nicer! The food was lovely especially the burger but it was Louisa that really made the place! If we have time to go back I really hope she’s doing a shift 💛

We stayed here for a couple of nights and our bathroom smelled of urine and room wasn’t very clean. Hairs etc. from previous occupants, cobwebs and there was a draft. We ate there the first night and the food was pretty good.

We do not usually write negative reviews, but after giving previous feedback we thought its only fair to be truthful. This is a lovely village pub with excellent food. But beware, if you sit outside you will not get served and empty glasses will not be removed from the table. In fact they have been known to be still there the following morning! We live in the village and find this so disappointing, having been regulars since the reopening in May. Despite mentioning this many times, no one seems to care, in fact i have been told on many occasions, ‘we are busy’ when there are a few people inside the pub, and more outside!! Tonight, we have now been told ‘we have been told not to serve outside’ - I cannot believe in the current climate that any pub would take that attitude, especially when staff are not that busy and there are only 3 tables outside. Why have they replaced the tables and brollies if they don’t care about people outside. We have another two pubs not that far away where the service is excellent, inside or out, and whilst its a short drive, which means one of us cannot drink, we will now be favouring these pubs. . If you have a meal then you are looked after, if not, then you can wait forever to be served. Come on OHH - sort it out!

Fabulous break at The Old House at Home. Room kept clean and tidy by the lovely, friendly housekeeper. Breakfast good choice and was included in the price of our stay. Dinner a little on the expensive side and a limited menu, but enough to choose from and absolutely superb. All the staff were great. Would thoroughly recommend.

No fans despite being 5 AA diamonds. I had written when we booked that I was vegan but at breakfast there was no dairy free milk or spread. Really disappointing. Not worth the money we paid unfortunately.
