Recently enjoyed lunch with members of a book group. There was a good choice on the set menu and the food was tasty and portions generous. The chef catered very well for one member with vegetarian/dietary requirements. Very welcoming staff and good value and service. Will certainly come here again.

We had dinner pre theatre, and had never been to the Old Hatchet before. Everything was wonderful, from the fire burning, cosy atmosphere, welcome from staff. But the food was sublime! We had a roast chicken and steak and kidney pie. The pie was the best my partner had ever had, with so much meaty filling and chips that were astonishing good. And my chicken roast, with superb gravy, so flavoursome, dauphinous potatoes and roast carrot was absolutely delicious. A feast of flavour and beautifully presented. The staff were exceptional. You don't find food this wonderful and staff this good at what they do in many places. We can't wait to return.

Great for a set linch with friends who don’t eat like horses. Just right portions value for money , nice staff warm friendly atmosphere with heating

I hadn't been to the Old Hatchet for 40+ years as I'd moved away from the area but decided to go for Sunday Lunch with my family. We had a great lunch, excellent food and service. The staff were friendly, professional and very attentive. The bonus was that the pub was as good as I remembered it. We will definitely be going again.

Super pub. After a long road trip from Cornwall we found this place. Delicious fish and chips. Fabulous wine. Cosy pub, most definitely worth a visit. Really friendly.

Came back for Christmas Day Lunch, and for the second year running we were not disapointed, fantastic service although the staff had given up thier own Christmas Days. The food was wonderfull (not as many courses as last year), and very tasty and well presented. The atmosphere in the pub is delightful.

This is our third visit to this pub and restaurant over the last two months, 4 of us. The food is delicious and the lunch menu is a very good deal. We have tried many different meals and all plates cleared, so no waste. The staff are very helpful and welcoming.

We celebrated my Mother's 100th birthday here with a Sunday lunch for 19 family members. Excellent food, lovely ambience and good friendly service from the staff. We had the private area at the back, which was ideal for a family group. The owners were very helpful in setting up the event and were a pleasure to deal with. Everything went smoothly and we had a very enjoyable time. Would definitely recommend.

Went for Christmas Day Lunch, ordered from the set menu which was sent out a month in advance so they could gauge quantities. The overall lunch was brilliant everyone loved what they ordered. The staff were fantastic, happy and helpfull even though they were missing thier own Christmas day. All in all its the second year we have had Christmas Lunch here and will definitley return next year. Thank you for making it a great day.

Sunday Lunch on the last day of the year, food was good and plentiful. few people in today so it was all a bit quiet but still a good venue for food and a drink or two.

Staff are lovely. The Cex worker behind the bar it top g. The Girls are alright. Ones grumpy all the time. Do a good Guinness and Sunday Roast. Need to stay open past 9 on a Monday.

What a wonderful find! Cold day and a real fire..so inviting. Excellent service and delicious food. We had the £20 lunch menu, both of us having a starter and a main. Excellent value.

The restaurant was empty but we waited 45 minutes for our food to come out! We then ordered dessert which again took a very long time to come out. No one came up to us to check on us throughout the evening. We waited for a good 20 minutes for Someone to take our payment of our bill. As No one came so we gave the payment to a member of staff standing by the till and as we walked out, a member of the staff shouted across the pub that we hadn’t paid. He was actually very rude towards us. It would appear the staff were having a good chat with each other behind throughout the evening. It’s such a shame the pub use to be so lovely but this time the staff really ruined our experience and I don’t think we will be returning

Went for wings had the round the world plate and everyone was really good! Unfortunately no pineapple and soy ones left but enjoyed the others. Great service from all the young staff, it was a bit chilly but a fair amount of heat coming off the heaters. Nice atmosphere, will go again if in area.

This was our first visit to a bar following the easing of lockdown and we were so impressed by their covid protocols. Since then we have enjoyed a superb sunday lunch and dined several times under the bedouin style tent, complete with lighting and heating, in the large garden area.The food is excellent and beautifully presented served by a well trained and knowledgeable team. The emphasis is clearly on using top quality ingredients skillfully prepared. The menu offers a good choice with daily specials, "Wings Wednesday" has developed a strong following and on Friday there is a a fish special.The wine selection is well balanced and very reasonably priced. The Old Hatchet is a great addition to our local dining choices.Highly recommended give it a try.

One of my favourite places to eat but today had an awful roast lamb Sunday lunch. So much fat on the meat, I never ate any of it. Pointed it out to the waitress who didn’t do anything. Coupled with a flat Diet Coke that had to be replaced - very disappointing birthday lunch.That said the chocolate brownie was delicious so (brownie) points for that!

Last year, a road closure led us on a different route, saw the Hatchet & decided to pop in for lunch; so glad we did as we keep coming back!Great food especially whitebait, fish & chips and the burger (best I have ever had), plus a recent change of the amazing pie to my favourite of steak & kidney pudding!Post closure, they have done a great job managing the whole distancing, table service & track-trace, plus a great clean down post leaving. Best I have seen in the way they have approached it, staff all masked up & quick order to delivery time on drinks / extras. Have invested in bringing the inside outside with a huge awning / marque has allowed more people to eat in the current climate whilst undercover.It is now our No.1 place to go & wish it was our local within walking distance vs a 15 min drive, the best combo of ales and food I have had.Well done, keep up the great work

Went for the first time last week and although it wasn't a "Eat Out to Help Out" day it was still busy so we were pleased that we'd booked. Food and service were great and it was nice sitting out in the garden under cover with lights and heaters as a bonus. Now we've discovered the Old Hatchet we'll definitely return!

Four of us went for a Sunday roast including a 12 month old baby. The pub was very friendly and baby friebdltSince Covid they have a really lovely outside seating area and are following guidelines The roast dinner was really good and I would really recommend it.The only thing I would say is there were a few tables with dogs and they were walking there dogs around and getting close to the tables. When my daughter became restless in the high chair and we took her away from people to have a look around while we waited for the bill we were told to go back to our table due to Covid guidelines. However, those walking dogs around the tables and getting close to us were not told the same advice.

Just been for the first time and will definitely return. Great food, excellent and charming service. Social distancing of tables and standard of hygiene excellent. Clearly some where that takes safety as seriously as food. First place we have been where we would feel confident to go back and eat indoors. Great job done by all concerned.

A friend and I visited for the first time yesterday evening and were both driving so just ordered two glasses of wine. We weren’t offered a wine list or advised of any prices. When we looked at the bill after departing The Old Hatchet, we saw we’d been charged £20 for two glasses of wine. We were really shocked and felt ripped off. What a shame....

A group of friends were fortunate enough yesterday to be served by the landlady’s daughter. Wow! With 25 years of living in and out of hotels all over the world I don’t think I’ve ever received such impeccable customer service. What an asset! The food, as always, delicious. Beautiful presentation and despite the torrential rain, sitting outside under the fabulous canopy is pretty and inviting. So lucky to have such an amazing local pub.

I called up short notice to book a table after our trip to the Lexicon. I lucked out and got a table for 3. The food was excellent, atmosphere very pleasant with outdoor table service, the staff were very friendly on arrival and departure. I will be back for their Wednesday Wing Night. The Old Hatchet was operating their fantastic wings Wednesday and burger Saturday takeaway through out lockdown with excellent safety protocols. Just had our 1st visit and they excelled in all aspects, good safety protocols all staff wearing masks, table service, and of course amazing food and service. Thank you guys will be back soon.

Had a work dinner at the pub and the food was outstanding!! Beautifully presented and very, very tasty. Everyone in our group thought it was excellent. I had the avocado seafood cocktail to start - very fresh ingredients and totally yummy; my 'main' was two other starters - chorizo arancini (very tasty) and Crab & Mushroom Bisque (gorgeous but very rich and filling). Other meals on the table included lamb shank, prawn & chorizo linguine, steak & kidney pie, beef burger and frech onion soup. Everybody was highly complimentary of their meals. Staff were so very friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be going again.

We have been to this pub on numerous occasions and have always had a great time.The ambience is just about right and the food and bar choice is excellent.Many pub/restaurants are refurbished and have new owners, but they never seem to get it right for long. As long as The Old Hatchet stays like this we will always visit.

First time visit to this pub with hubby and daughter and it didn’t let us down. Cosy, friendly and warm environment. This has to be one of the best Sunday lunch meals I've eaten out for a very long time!Not able to book in advance but we were seated in just a few minutes.The two courses we had were almost perfect and the staff were very attentive throughout.I wouldn't deduct any points but I do prefer to leave a gratuity and would prefer it not be added to the bill beforehand!

Fab fresh food. Lovely lunch choices including soups and sandwiches. We stopped here after a walk round Windsor Great Park and Long Walk. We popped in on the off chance and received a very warm welcome. The food was freshly cooked and of a great quality.

Probably "Good" rather than "Very Good" but better than "Average" on Trip Advisor's scale. Great service from the young man on a Wednesday lunchtime and my bangers, mash and gravy accompanied by hot tea was just what I needed after a 40 mile cycle trip in the cold mist.

Went back the The Old Hatchet after a very very long time due to a terrible meal the last time we went, now new Management and Staff. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table, the menu was not the biggest in the world but for a Sunday lunchtime it had a good selection, the food arrived as ordered and was a good size portion and was good quality, maybe a little on the pricier side for the area but still nice. However, what i do strongly object to is eating my lunch with dogs wondering around some not on leads. One owner was sitting on the leather soft with his BIG dog sitting next to him ..... It was soaking outside so the dog must of been wet and dirty to, after he left i saw a couple wiping down the seat so they could sit on it.... The table next to us had a dog on a lead who kept jumping up and the bar area was full of dogs. I'm sorry but even as a dog lover I do not want to sit and have my lunch with dogs all around me, its a restaurant not a Dog Kennel. Leave your dogs at home they don't want to be there ! - What about people who have allergies to Dogs, I'm sure something would be said if someone had a peanut allergy as I was sitting eating a bag of nuts. - Maybe make the top bar area dog friendly and the restaurant dog free maybe ?

At short notice, my booking for 12 for a celebratory dinner was welcomed. The Old Hatchet Pub is a beautiful old fashioned pub. The food was excellent and served wonderfully hot to all. We were superbly looked after. All were very happy and impressed.

Ventured in for dinner after avoiding the place for years. What a great surprise. The place is still steeped in character, with a nice long bar and open fireplace, but the difference in the staff and food is amasing. Canadian waitress was a delight and the bar staff very attentive. The food prices might be nominally above the norm for the area, but it not expensive - starters, main courses and a bottle of wine was £60 for two. Keep it up guys, the area needs places like this.

Fantastic food with excellent service. I had the rack of lamb special which was delicious. However the prices were on the steep side. Most people would probably visit only for a special occasion. It would be good to see a few pub staples at a slightly cheaper price. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed all our food & will return for a special occasion. Perhaps a set menu would be an option to encourage locals to visit regularly.

Well for our trip this week we ventured into Berkshire and visited the Old Hatchet pub. It's been well over a year since we last visit,and even though now it's under new management we were not disappointed. We had a very warm welcome from the lady behind the bar,and after having a welcomed drink and ordering our meals we settled down to enjoy the warmth and ambiance of this quaint pub.

While doing a roadtrip through the UK I stopped at the Old Hatchet for a quick pint and lunch. This proved to be a nice surprise because they served an absolutely gorgeous lamb shank and the atmosphere was kind of precisely what I was hoping for. Very relaxing place (staff interaction was great during visit) and definitely coming back when I’m in the Windsor area.

Very cute pub, with tons of character and tasty food. There are wooden beams throughout, a fire place by the bar and lots of lovely rooms for dining. Portion sizes were good and the meals were presented nicely. We'll definitely be back!

Had dinner on Christmas Eve and an early lunch on New Years Eve. Every time we go to the Hatchet is consistently great food, welcoming and wonderful service. Don’t just think about going .... GO!

I was a frequent customer back in the early nineties, working close by in Winkfield. I have now revisited a number of times as my daughter goes to school nearby. Hat’s off to the current management, the food is great. I have greatly enjoyed crab, fish, pie burger and sandwhiches. This Friday, the Tommahawk pork chop from the specials was superb. I like the beer and the service in this pub is very friendly and efficient. The board outside saying “you have to eat here” is no understatement. Top marks !

Driven past this place loads of times but was taken to lunch on a Friday - we booked a table -greeting at the bar was very good and passed over to lady who served us (Jane) who was excellent both in service too us and conversation - main courses only but were excellent - tasty and plentiful - a good choice of beers and very pleasant ambience - I will be returning

We decided last minute to drop into this beautiful old pub for lunch yesterday, I am so glad we did. We had our 3 year old grandson with us, we were delighted with the delicious meals and the children’s menu was great, Will had homemade chicken nuggets and chips, the portion was huge but he ate it all! Jayne was our waitress; she was very friendly and attentive especially to Will. We would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

Went for a birthday celebration and the staff were so lovely! The burgers were delicious and the Skate Wing fish was really tasty! Brilliant dessert choices too and well priced for the whole experience and service. Excellent that they are dog friendly (but also have a no dog section in the restaurant if you’d prefer!) They also have a vegan menu and gluten free options on the main menu! Will definitely be returning.

Having not been to the Hatchet since it reopened I thought I’d take my sister and father there for dinner! Well overall delighted!!! The cozy pub area was so inviting and then thoroughly looked after from start to finish! Food was fabulous and our waiter was great! The only tiny thing would be that he bought the bill without asking or being asked... Apart from that I would highly Recomend The Hatchet... deserts were amazing too!

Highly recommend this beautiful old 16th century pub. Very welcoming for the winter months with fires & a great warm atmosphere. They cater for gluten free & vegetarians. Food is good, staff are friendly & it's reasonably priced.

Visited for Sunday lunch with my daughter. Service very good, not OTT but very friendly and efficient (Thanks Danielle!). Food also excellent, both had pâté to start followed by one roast beef & one roast pork. Good portion size, piping hot & great vegetables. Lovely fire in the bar, hope radiators will be on in restaurant area as it turns colder. Will be back soon..!!

Nice to see this place doing well. A great vegan selection! Our waitress Genna was really helpful and attentive. My vegan pasta was delicious and the pricing was decent.

Consistently fabulous ambience - happy staff make happy customers. The team set a relaxed and efficient base to create a lovely atmosphere to really enjoy our meals. We went for a late Sunday catchup lunch and were delighted to have Yorkshire’s on our duck and lamb shanks. Amazing Succulent food and so well presented that we cleared our plates even though our tummies were full. On such a cold damp day we were warm and satiated. Big thank you to all the team for making our time with you such a lovely experience.

Having used the bar frequently since the new ream took over around six months ago and listening to glowing recommendations 4 of us dined a couple of weeks ago. We were not disappointed. Starters of avocado and seafood and Cesar salad were delicious and beautifully presented. Mains of duck and rump of lamb also excellent. Again presentation was excellent. The wine list offers a good choice at sensible prices. Combine this with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic front of house team under the watchful eye of the new owners and you have a truly winning combination. We enjoyed the experience we booked to go back for Sunday lunch (served til late) and enjoyed the best Sunday roast we have had for a long time, the beef flavourful and tender and melt in the mouth lamb and vegetables served on the side. Excellent.

Three consecutive meals with friends and family have been brilliant here since it reopened. We’ve just had a Sunday roast, steak and kidney pie and the octopus special to start and absolutely beautiful. Very happy to recommend and lovely old pub with an unpretentious feel, great food and really lovely staff. Also REALLY nice wine glasses.

Decided to give this old favourite a trial under the new management. So so glad we did. A lovely meal was had by all enhanced by the wonderful ambience and attitude of staff— all of whom were superb.

We have not been to the pub for a drink or meal in the restaurant for quite a long time. We were impressed with the friendly service and general ambiance of the restaurant area. The food was very good two of us having the nights special tomahawk pork chop and one the pigeon. Everyone enjoyed their food very much, and even though the pigeon was a little difficult to eat after the plates had been cleared away the waitress came back to the table and said that meal would be taken off our bill. This was excellent service and handled extremely well by both kitchen and front of house staff. We shall all definitely be returning in the future.

I went with friends for dinner at the Old Hatchet. None of us has been there before and apparently there was a rumour that the chef had changed, which is not always good news. However, whether there had been a change or not it certainly didn't affect the meals we had. It was excellent and the service exemplary

Four of us dined at The Old Hatchet last Friday for the first time under the current ownership. It turned out to be a wonderful evening. Pre dinner drinks in the comfortable bar followed by a superb meal in the busy restaurant. To start, the avocado seafood cocktail was both delicious and beautifully presented, as was the ceaser salad. Of the main courses the duck and rump of lamb were outstanding. The wine list offers a good choice and is good value. Factor in attentive service from enthusiastic staff and this is a winning combination. As the sign outside says "You gotta eat here". A first class restaurant set in a lovely country pub.

I was very impressed with the quality of the food. I was also pleasantly surprised by the interesting dishes on offer. It isn't an extensive menu, however I often think that is a positive thing and in this case it is: what they do they do well! We went for a family lunch and there was something to please everyone, from young to old, meat lover to vegetarian. The staff were cheerful and helpful and the waiting staff clearly know the menu and were able to advise and recommend.

Sorry to say it was just a soggy mess. Thin over cooked beef, soggy potatoes and Yorkshire a with a mean serving of vegetables and watery, runny tasteless horseradish. The whole plate was saturated in a tasteless gravy resembling a plate of soup.

Lovely pub is quiet location. Visited on Sunday with my partner. Food was really nice and not to expensive. However menu was very small and so were the portions. It was good food but not enough of it in my opinion. Lots of other places to chose locally which offer better value for money.

We went for Sunday lunch yesterday. We hadn’t booked but were early so not a problem getting a table. We both had roast pork and it came with an enormous Yorkshire pudding which I love. Plenty of roast potatoes along with a dish of four different vegetables. We both had a dessert which was part of the two courses for £20.95. I had warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream along with some summer berries. It was delicious. Hubby had sticky toffee pudding. The service was brilliant even though the restaurant had started to get busy. Would definitely recommend a visit here. Will be back for sure.

Great staff, great food, service was friendly and efficient. Just what you hope and expect from your local. Risotto Monk Fish mmmmmmm and the dipping sauce with the sweet potatoe fries exotic and delicious. What’s great is the consistency every time Now. AND alcohol free gin! Thank you we will be back.

Went on Friday night with a group of 14 to celebrate 4 birthdays. From the moment we booked, communication was excellent (which is reassuring when you've suggested a venue) and Friday night didn't dissapoint.

We went for dinner last night and it was a really pleasant surprise. We were looked after by the owners daughter and she was great. All the staff were very attentive and helpful.

We visited the Old Hatchet on a recommendation by a friend and certainly had a wonderful meal here, the service and the food were impeccable, we absolutely will be returning here and will also definitely be recommending it to others.

A little out the way, but pretty as a picture, this is a pub I've always admired on my way to work each day. A friend and I visited for dinner and, although the staff were clearly busy, we couldn't fault the service nor the food. The salmon and risotto were of high restaurant standard and generously portioned. We started the night in the pretty garden and made our way inside the cosy pub for nightcaps as it got cooler. Not the cheapest place but worth every penny

Just visited after not having been here for a very long time for food had the roast chicken which are amazing there was actually too much food. Service was great would highly recommend for your Sunday roast!
