Not been in for years. What a shock, unkempt and in a poor state of decor, such a shame . 1 person working the bar, it felt like they had walked in off the street to pull pints. There are no words of encouragement to make this a positive review. Such a shame for what was a thriving pub.

The experience was bad. I was called for a meeting on 29.05.2023 in the morning to meet Vanessa the general manager. It was a no show, the place was not open and the interviewer was not available. This clearly shows the staff and the management is not serious with their work. If they can't manage an meeting, I highly doubt their attitude toward their customers.

Used to be around £5 for a pint of beer & a wine but has recentaly gone to £8.50 for the same. The entertainment on a friday night has gone from good bands to glorified karaoke solo artists. The large tvs are now smallish tvs for sport and when i attended on a saturday evening there was only pop music showing instead of all the football results in a bar where everbody was over 40. Gone downhill and want be returning.

Staying nearby overnight and called in for a pint and a bite to eat. The staff are very friendly and efficient, the food is fresh and served quickly and is not expensively. The beer is also good and not expensive. Well worth a visit if you want down to earth good value food

Second time we have visited and enjoyed our visit.staff were very friendly and the food was really nice.a very old pub in need of some tlc but i am sure they will do well given the obvious commitment from the staff.will definatly be returning for the food which is under priced for what you get.

Lovely local pub, nice place to stop and have a beer and a chat. There is a playground for children that needs a bit of work. But nice atmosphere

We’ve been coming to this lovely old pub for years and although this pub no longer do food it’s still a nice run out for us parking is a plenty and with a nice area for kids with swing and play frames dogs are welcome but won’t get served at bar hehe, on a sunny day there are seats outside looking over kids area the choice of beers are limited as it’s now an independent brewery but local beers and wines are on hand it really needs a good refurbished as it’s looking very tired but if your in the area give it a go you might like it 😀

The owners are missing a trick here. Such a stunning, old historic building but inside was so disappointing. They could have this place looking so oldy worldy inside with the original features on display but instead its like steeping into a typical local pub with the match on. Stayed for one drink then sadly left.

This seems to be a “drinkers pub”. The building is beautiful and old but doesn’t seem to be well looked after. Shame.

We were advised by some locals after a rather bad evening at the Duke of Rothesay in Heysham. Upon arrival we were greeted to a warm welcoming smile from the young lady behind the bar, we ordered a carlsberg and a cask ale , we were surprised at the amount of casks there was a available. .. the glass was nice and chilled and the carlsberg had plenty of life in it ! However we were quite baffled as we learnt this was a mitchells run pub as the Duke of Rothesay we previously visited was run down and desserted. I would highly recommend and would like to thank the staff on that day for a memorable experience

Went in here one night as an alternative to the Royal. Atmosphere zero, clientele rough. In fact left the place as 3 very drunk men at bar so vulgar and actually didn't feel safe - and bar staff doing nothing about it. Won't even give this place a second chance after that.

What an amazing building, absolutely fantastic BUT so run down. Please owners , please do it up, take down the rubbishy posters and up you game - it could be wonderful. Only serves food on certain days. I am so sorry to say that I wouldn't return whilst it is like this. It has so much potential please do something with it. We walked in, turned round and walked out again... we didn't want to.

We nipped in here recently for an afternoon drink. Saturday afternoon. Fantastic looking outside. On entry you are deflated as this run down sleeping giant goes about its business. Horrible worn carpet and paint jobs from too long ago meet endless wires around the walls. No atmosphere and needs a kick up the behind

I popped in this evening for a few drinks after a long day of traveling before heading to get my ferry down the road. Drinks well priced, amazing music (played current and classic indie-ish music which was a nice surprise),and very friendly regulars/bar man. Really nice vibe.

came to the old hall, on a saturday afternoon, and wanted to have a bite to eat.. the manager James was working, and explained they had a pizza and sandwich menu, this was fine for us, as we only wanted a snack rather than a full meal. the pizza i ordered was very nice, thin crisp base, and good choice of toppings, I had the spicy chicken. the pub itself is a lovely old building, it is a little tired, and needs some investment, but it is clean, and welcoming. the staff were excellent. sports were being shown as well, not my cup of tea, but if your looking for good beer, and a bit of a snack.. i would say the old hall is for you!

Went in here to watch live entertainment, well they were only just live. Some old wrinkely singing i thought it would be a group like other venues have but no just some old bag singing. I thought a pint n burger will help it from being a wasted journey but no grub on even though advertised when i mentioned this a local said no chance of a burger in here mate just mouldy old pizzas. Says it all really. The guest beer was good though.

the bar staff are well friendly & well presented presented but the manager looks scruffy as he wanders around. better now that the pool table has been taken out, shame the big screen is no longer in operation as the tv is to small should be a 60" or 65" these days, live entertainment ok but Reggie mental should be on more often & tin pan alley would also be good. The beers are well kept with a good choice of real ale, the food is limited we all like pizza but a curry night & steak night wouldnt go amiss. Cant wait till the fires are lit again would be great on a steak night with candles on the table,. Whst a great steak house it would make. Could be a great pub with a few little tweaks.

Heard they started doing food so went in for something to eat, i was put off straight away by the scruffy unshaven manager (hope he didnt cook the food). The pub itself is nice & the lady behind the bar very friendly. The cask ale choice is very good & well kept but unless your italian the menu is poor pizza pizza pizza oy some italian stle bread sandwiches what ever happend to the good old pub menu ? meat n potato pie mushy peas n gravy, fish n chips, sausage n mash, egg n chips come all simple fayre, if you must do sarnis whats wrong with a bacon butty or chicken n stuffing. Come on it dosnt take much effort.

We visited The Old Hall on Friday 26th August, myself, my partner and my 3 year old severely disabled daughter, (whom is unable to walk). My daughter needed changing, so I went to the bar to get the key for the disabled toilets. I carried my daughter to the disabled toilet and found that the door had a padlock on it. I tried for several minutes to try and unlock the padlocked door, whilst holding my daughter. To no avail I had put my daughter on the dirty carpet whilst I unlocked the padlock, it took both hands and even for an able bodied person, this was not the easiest padlock to open. After changing my daughter I had to put her back onto the floor to lock the padlock. I was appalled and disgusted at having to do this. I can't be the only person out there whom has encountered the same problems there. In this day and age this is a disgrace and "The Old Hall" you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!

Thanks Matt See you again soon

Called in to the Old Hall, beautiful building, really friendly staff. The new manager has certainly turned this place around. Just started doing food again and although it's a limited menu at the moment our meals were fantastic and very reasonable in price. Will definitely be back. P. S. Nice coffee too :-)

It's really great to see the new management making such an effort to turn this pub around. The friendly welcome, great beer selection and warm atmosphere all make for a brilliant night out.We went when the singer was on and she was amazing... We danced our little legs off.I've popped in with my partner and the warm welcome is always the same.I can't wait to see this pub flourish under the enthusiastic landlord and growing clientele

I recently visited The Old Hall after a doctors appointment. The health center is just across the road from The Old Hall so while I had 20 minutes before my bus I decided to call in for a pint. The Staff were very welcoming, a young man was working, I think his name was Mark, although I can't be sure as this is only what I over heard other customers calling him. The member of staff was extremely helpful. I decided on a pint of the cask ale's but couldn't quite make up my mind. He was patient with me and went through the 3 cask ales explaining what there taste was and weather it was a dark beer or not. He also offered small tasters of each beer as I was still undecided. I eventually chose the Tetley Cask, which was fine, nothing really to write home about. The building itself although beautiful from the outside is looking a bit run down on the inside, nothing a nice fresh layer of paint wouldn't sort out.All in all my visit was good but the memeber of staff working made my experience so much nicer and made the pub a welcoming place (it was also nice to here other customers comment on how well Mark is doing)

I generally don't venture out of Lancaster when going out but I am so glad I did to check out the old hall. First of all the staff here were lovely, they all obviously love working there and were exceptionally friendly and very outgoing to ensure you have the best time possible while in their company. Brilliant selection of ales, hey varied selection of music on the jukebox which for me is always a plus point, pool table, quiet areas in the pub which is great if you want a nice quiet chat with friends. They had a female singer performing on the night who was excellent but not too loud like most places so you could still converse with everyone and still enjoy the music. I will definitely be visiting here again. Wether you looking for a quiet drink, meeting friends or to just come and meet new people this place has it all!

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE FROM START TO FINISH. BOOKED A TABLE, ONLY TO GET THERE TO FIND THEY HAD SAT ANOTHER PARTY THERE. THEN LANDLADY SAT OUR PARTY OF 9 AT A BADLY LIT,COLD UNINVITING TABLE. SHE EVEN COMMENTED HERSELF HOW BAD IT WAS! NO APOLOGY, NOTHING! THEN NEARLY TWO HOURS FOR A LUKE WARM MEAL ONE OF WHICH MY HUSBAND FETCHED FROM THE KITCHEN HIMSELF AFTER THE FORTH TIME OF ASKING.MOST OF THE MEALS WERE INEDIBLE. ALMOST AS MUCH FOOD WENT BACK AS WAS EATEN ANY DON’T GET ME STARTED ON THE SERVICE WHICH WAS NON EXISTENT. WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE THE LANDLORD ENDED UP SERVING OUR PARTYS MEALS IN WHAT CAN ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS WORKMAN STAINED CLOTHING! WON’T BE RETURNING AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVEN FOR A DRINK!

2 and a half hours waiting for a kebab and some chips, not really acceptable when the driver was "on his way" a half hour ago according to the takeaway. real shame used to be quite a good takeaway but I won't be going back.

Went for a toasted sandwich, it was burnt on one side, and not toasted on the other. I gave the chap the money, which was over the amount, and had to ask for the change. The sandwich was just squeezed into the box, no serviettes or anything. I haven't been to Diggles for a long time, for the same reason. It hasn't improved at all.
