Go there only for the music but be prepared to be ignored by their unprofessional, inexperienced, underpaid and overworked staff.

The Old Duke is a wonderful, traditional pub that has live jazz. They also have a good range of beers. There are also lots of tables in the street outside, which get crowded as soon as the weather is half-good.

Absolutely cracking pub, it's the epitomy of what the UK pub culture offers that others imitate. Do not delay on having a night out here. #lifeatitsbest

The true home of Bristol's jazz community. 9 bands a week, plus lunchtime impromptus. Don't forget to tip the band at the bar. Good selection of beers and ales. On-(pedestrian)-street seating out front. 2 steps up to the front door. Dog friendly.

Absolutely loved this old school, authentic pub. Great buzz and even better that it has live music - we came 3 times during our trip to Bristol.

I love this cozy place. Music is always great, it’s a little bit crowded, so get in earlier if you want a good spot. Atmosphere is always electric and everyone is smiling!

Amazing atmosphere every time !

Wandered down Kings Street one Friday evening and stumbled across the live jazz band playing in the old duke. And boy was it amazing, a play where the hips were moving, the music was flowing and the place was popping. Thank you!

We are a retired couple who were regular visitors pre covid. Our first time back last night. We met an older man un his late 80s. He was so interesting to speak to. He use to be in a band in the old juke his on one of the photos there. He has been going in the juke since the 1960s. When the blonde barmaid came to collect for the band I mentioned this to her she said "I know who you mean and i don't give a shit" I felt so shock by her nasty attitude to me for no apparent reason. I asked why she was so rude but she just turned away. As I was asking this I touched her arm and she shouted dint touch me making me jump I touched her very lightly I didn't grab her or anything. As we left I went to the the bar to report it. They again was rude to me and said they already knew and I was barred. Lol we hadn't done anything wrong. But the staff were rude. Not like the staff that use to work there before. They were very nice and engaged with the punters. So that the reason for1*. Hence we won't go back here and I am barred for no reason. Feel free to let me know why.

Great Saturday night there I went with 3 French fiends , I still have no idea why we went to Bristol but anyway this place was great, split the G and enjoy the night cheers guys

Even though it's always really busy in there, I always get served super quickly, and the people working the bar are always nice and friendly. Love going there for the live jazz, the music is always great.

A must visit in Bristol! The 3 nights I was in Bristol I went every evening. I participated in the open mic night, listened to other performances, the bottom line is I enjoyed it tremendously. The music was great, inspiring and authentic. The people behind the bar are kind, attentive and helping. I fell in love. In love with the place, the atmosphere and a beautiful woman. Bristol hasn’t seen the last of me.

Always a great band and warm welcome

A local friend recommended to visit this pub. It was great. We went on a Monday night and had the pleasure to listen to The Severn Jazz Men. It was a time travel in its best way. Instead of for one drink we stayed for the whole evening. Can highly recommend.

We went on a Friday night and they had a brilliant band on. The place was packed. Everyone was dancing. Bar was still accessible and wait times were minimal. Lovely place.

Really disappointed by the constant high volume music belting out from this place. We were unable to open our windows in the nearby premier inn because of it - for most of the Bank Holiday weekend. A wonderful buzz from people in the outside area, totally obliterated by the volume of the music.

Updated. Returned after a long hiatus, staff had all changed but they're still excellent, friendly people, willing to share in conversation and ensure their customers have a good time.

Here Sunday stop on route to Balloon Fiesta at Ashton Court country estate. Jazz playing. Famous pubs including Old Duke and Langdogger great for cider and beers.

Nice pub we had a quick pint before going to the theatre.

Great pub, but I am disappointed to be turned away based on our group size of 10. We understand it's their choice, but we still thought that we could be served outside. Q

Very quiet when we went in but I would imagine that it gets very busy as it's bang in the middle of the drinking zone with lots of other pubs

This pub is directly opposite the Llandoger Trow, where I had my first pint. My 2nd pint of Timothy Taylor boltmaker wasn't so good, and it was more expensive. However, they do have good music blasting out!! And it seems more popular especially in the evening when the whole area was rammed....

Good pub - especially if you want some loud, v foot tapping, danceable, jazzy swing. Good fun - no use for quiet conversations.

Get a cheddar valley down yer neck and some jazz in yer ears!!!

Great place with great music and a varying selection of beverages. I did not eat anything, and I guess there is nothing to eat. Liked the place; great vibe with different music bands every day.

There are much better places in Bristol to see bands.

Staff we very inattentive. I know they were busy because it was sunny. But saying hello is not a lot to ask. The member of staff behind the bar with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth was not a great look either

Popped in here before heading to the airport, a live jazz band were on and were excellent. You can sit indoors or at tables outdoors, nice atmosphere and bar staff.

Lowri was amazing, she exudes warmth. Definitely ask for her. She’s soo knowledgeable on the ales and is an absolute delight

The saltiest meal I think I’ve ever eaten. I had a burger and chips, £15 so on the pricier side for pub food. I wouldn’t eat there again unfortunately. Service and drinks were good though.

Sat outside on the picnic tables . Chose this pub out of the 3 available to get our drinks because they had the most bar staff and most convenient with normal beers

Ii didn't eat so I can't say, and to be honest I didn't drink but others j was with were and seemed happy enough. But thing this place gives in spades is atmosphere, we watched live jazz and it was superb, and I don't like jazz! Young and older people dancing together and just having a great time, perfect. Just enough space to dance, big enough bar inside, loads of seating outside and some inside but with live music (I think) every night it's not a quiet pint sort of place, get in, get a drink, and get dancing!

This is one of the most famous, and classic, pub in Bristol. Lovely and pure history. It is worth the visit.

Loads of fun for a few drinks and some live music. Only had wine. As with most places on Kings St it’s expensive to drink at but always has some great live bands.

Always a great evening here. There's a good range of live music, it's always busy. The door staff and bar staff are really helpful and I have never seen it rowdy given that this is on king street. The pub hosts a good selection of drinks and snacks.
