Only popped in for a drink but couldn’t resist trying the food so had the onion bhajees. They were utterly delicious Lovely friendly staff and cosy pub atmosphere

Absolutely fantastic dinner. A real surprise to find such authentic food. Sub manages the tables with charm and efficiency, the rest of the team is delightful too. Excellent range of dishes and very good value.

A mouthwatering delight to the taste buds. We were a party of six on the Saturday after Christmas and the Old Crown at Girton was pretty busy but the service and attention was first class. The menu is a masterpiece. An amazing selection of dishes, reasonably priced bar and super friendly staff and management all combined together to make it a most memorable occasion.

Lovely birthday meal for our table of 6 - including variations in level of spice for different members of our party ordering the same dish! Thanks to Angela and Munjula for excellent service 😀

We came to visit family friends in Cambridge, and stopped by this restaurant, we had a great experience both in terms of food and in terms of service.

The food is amazing in this place and they have a great selection of beer aswell! The rack of lamb is amazingly delicious and the "showmanship" of the steaming plate added a nice touch of atmosphere. Accompanied with great friendly service we had an amazing experience. Two little things to point out however is the "very mild" option for the rum rum chicken was still at a medium-high spicy level. Secondly the garlic nan felt like it was lacking in garlic taste, but the coconut naan was something else and it was amazing.

Managed and run by Nepalese serving good foods. Naan and chicken chilli were the best parts of my dining. It's probably the best soft naan I had so far in Cambridgeshire. Chicken chilli was surprisingly soft and delivered the Nepalese taste. Rara prawn curry had a bit of British twist, but it was tasty and went well with the soft naan. Reasonably priced menu and a good hospitality despite being a bit understaffed. Some recommendations to the management: 1. Chocolate fondant, which was tasty, can get better using a quality dark chocolate as it needs to be like molten chocolate lava, which blends with the ice cream. 2. If possible, please lower the sound of the telephone and never leave it unattended for long. :) Definitely visiting again. Thanks.

Visited with frends who's local this is, the pub is very pleasant but service was slow, although when asked for the 2nd time if we could order we received a complimentary side of attitude, the Nepalese food though is stunning

The chilli mogo was really lovely, just the right spice. The daal was also very good.

I recently visited the restaurant and was very impressed with the quality of the food and the atmosphere. The grilled items were particularly authentic and delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive, especially Bilal, who served our family. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I would rate the restaurant 9/10.

We had a very memorable experience here. The food was lovely, we had the curry’s and chicken wraps. It was reasonably priced. The staff were very nice and helpful. We will definitely be back soon, as the menu is certainly full of choice and variety. Can’t wait to go back. The atmosphere was nice and decor.

Refreshing to find some different cuisine in Cambridge. Had a delicious lunch with my dad and will be back again to try more of the menu.

First time visiting since the change, food was by excellent, drinks were served immediately after ordering. Toilets were out of order but despite being 6pm on a Saturday there was someone out fixing the issue (seemed to be the drain) and they were back in service. Will definitely visit again

Night out with friends the place was packed.service was good food very varied the xl mixed grill is great as a share with a curry.what I found amazing was the speed the restaurant emptied. we would definitely recommend and we will return.

Sadly, a disappointing experience. We had to get up from our table twice to try and get someone to take our drinks order and ask three times for someone to take our food order. My food consisted of 5-6 prawns on a dish of sizzling onions that were half raw and a side of rice. The marinade of the prawns was nice (rara prawns) but that was about it and I went home hungry, main was £14 and rice £5-6. It was busy and we were packed in one room which was quite loud, the table next door managed to get moved to another side of the pub.

A Hidden Gem for Nepalese Cuisine – Highly Recommend! The Old Crown is an absolute delight for anyone craving authentic Nepalese food. The lamb shank is simply outstanding – tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It’s a must-try! Every dish from the chef’s specials menu is amazing. We had the Himali Lamb, Chicken Rum Rum, Khasi Ko Masu and Pok Fish Curry. Recommend it all! The service is just as exceptional as the food – friendly, attentive, and warm, making the whole dining experience even better. If you're looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere, I couldn’t recommend The Old Crown more!

Visited for the first time that it's now serving Nepalese food. Great tasty food. Attentive, friendly and helpful staff. I had the Pokara fish curry which was very good. Will definitely visit again. They also do takeaway.

We came after a friend recommended the food and it was so good. We shared a mixture of starters but the momo and chilli mogo was the best. The large mixed grill main was so big and could easily feed a couple. The curries were all so different and tasty. Sides were good sizes and the chilli chips were so good. The staff were very friendly and offered recommendations. We will be back and would recommend.

Updated review, from previous. New ownership of this well known pub and restaurant. Well what can I say, first off. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. A really great menu, Nepalese and traditional English food and a great selection of drinks. We went for the Nepalese, which you can have adapted to your pallet, if you don't like it to spicey, the food was absolutely amazing. I would recommend you give it a try. 10/10 For food, staff, atmosphere.

Great Nepalese food (just a bit different to usual Indian) in a great pub. Fantastic addition to village scene but worth coming to from much further away too.

What a wonderful Nepalese meal I had, it was absolutely delicious! Had the Biryani, the nicest I have ever had! Plenty of choice of vegetarian and vegan also..they said all their vegetarian meals can be made vegan. Friendly service, and really delicious food. I hope they are really successful. Girton is lucky to have such a great new resturant in the village! Will certainly be going there again.

By far the best curry I’ve had in years! My husband had the XL mixed grill and he said it was worth every penny. Good food, great beer, great prices, lovely staff. Extensive vegetarian menu as well which makes a nice change for a pub.We will be back!

The food was absolutely delicious. The best Asian food I have had. Every mouthful was full of flavour. I just wish they were my local. The service was excellent and we felt welcome straight away. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We arrived for their first night as they introduced a new Nepalese menu, which was absolutely stunning. The food was delicious, we shared the Large Mixed Grill with the Vegetarian Momo which paired well with Viognier wine we ordered on arrival. We were warmly welcomed by the new team who are very excited to introduce their new menu. Highly recommend, please try their fabulous food and support a wonderful new business.

This was the first time that a group of friends and I had visited The Old Crown, and it lived up to all our expectations. The welcome was heartfelt, the service first class and the food superb. It must also be noted that they keep a very good pint of Timothy Taylor's as well as a good range of other beers, wines, and spirits. It is well worth a visit, and we have already pencilled in another date to which we are all looking forward.

Love going to the old crown. It's relatively close to where we live and all the times we went so far I've enjoyed the experience. The beer garden is a great Hangout place in the summer and the food is so good. Both times we went we had 3 courses because there's such good selection of food and the portions are just right for me to enjoy three courses without feeling stuffed or feeling like I didn't eat enough. This time food did not disappoint and my partner fell in love with the chocolate orange e cheesecake ahah. My father in law said the sticky toffee pudding was the best he had ever tried. I thought all food was incredible, loved every dish. Staff is super friendly as well, all of them who we interacted with were funny and super sweet. Recommend.
