The George in South Cambridgeshire

Stunning little find! I travel a lot and I'm always on the lookout for a hidden gem. This will be a regular venue for Thai for sure! Fab red curry, perfect sticky rice and an authentic Sam Tam.. well done!

Took a long walk here as the website says food is served 12-3. When we arrived no food was available and staff didn’t seem to know that this was even advertised on the website.

The most amazing food and service,the bar staff are just exceptional with their welcoming and friendly nature. Jeebs freshly cooked food is so freshly cooked and just delicious. Everyone including the locals make you feel so welcome thank you all so much,definitely our new local for the amazing draft beer,welcome and food!

Waited over an hour for takeaway despite only 2 orders ahead of me. Reason for delay was priority given to in-house dining customers but there were only 2 couples ahead of me and 2 groups who arrived 30 mins after I ordered managed to get their starters well in advance of my eventual delivery

First time take away - what a mistake - - now with a terrible heartburn after eating the green curry - the stir fry was nothing better- watery and tasteless - 80s style cooking or worse - ! Never again!

Been going to the George since I moved to Girton Great staff and good selection of beers and sprites. The Thai food is great I just wish they did other food as well as Pizza and Chips.

This was a perfect stop on the way home from hunstanton, we had the dog outside and off the lead whilst it was quiet and enclosed at the back. The bar staff was so lovely to accommodate us, food was great! Will be back!

Lovely Thai food. It would be better still if the kitchen could stay open a little later , as I often can’t make it before 9pm, but it’s still our favourite Thai .

Got 2 pad thai with prawns prawns were overcooked and a portion of pad thai noodles that wouldn't even feed a small child, rang up and complained and they said usually it fills a plate what a tea plate they said they'd give me more next time and it's due to price rises of food ,absolutely disgusted with the customer service if you want a nice filling meal DONT BOTHER

This was my first visit to Jeabs Thai, and I was mightily impressed. Not only was it gone 8pm when I arrived, but the young lady who served me was very friendly and made me feel welcome. I was staying at a nearby hotel, and having had zero service from them, I decided to head on out in search of food. As a lover of Thai food, I was most impressed by the great varied menu, and the quality of the food. I had the chicken satay, followed by the Pad Thai, with chicken, and both dishes were flavoursome and filling. Presentation was superb. All in all my meal gave me fond memories of my holidays in Thailand 🇹🇭, khop krun khrup! Even though I live in West London, I’ll be back, and I’d highly recommend this establishment to everyone! Thank you for the great service and excellent food!! 😊

Eat in or takeaway, the good is fantastic. A great selection of beers, both real ale and larger. Friendly, helpful and a warm welcome.

They have really good Thai takeaway food

I came down from London and stayed in Cambridge for a weekend. I ordered in on Sat 5th March 2022. Thai Fish Cakes were nice. Didnt come with chilli sauce. The Jungle Pork Curry was so blant no flavor at all. Vegetarian Pad Thai got too much vegetable, onion, cauliflower, peppers, courgette. I never seen Pad Thai got all these vegetables. Pad See U got too much dark soy sauce. I am Thai I know the food & taste. I am sorry to say the food disappointed me .

Great food at The George this evening. The most tastiest yellow curry, food was hot, freshly cooked. So delicious! The staff were great! So recommend this place!

The food was absolutely amazing the bar was very lean and nice variety of snack the staff were very kind and helpful I would definitely recommend it to Thai lovers and the have pizza for the picky ones!

Amazing, I was fussy with my order as I wanted to try something I hadn’t had before but It wasn’t for me so the waiter saw I wasn’t eating it & brings me the chefs soup of the day & a side of their amazing fries. He didn’t even write down our orders for 8 and still everything came out as we ordered :) can not fault. Food is 10/10

This former beer, cigarettes and darts pub has for a long time been an authentic Asian restaurant and the food is excellent.. the atmosphere can be a little strange as the noise from the bar chat invades a quiet dinner experience. That said the food is cooked by experts and is fast, authentic and great value. Recommended if your relaxed and open minded.

Girton's local pub has a good Thai restaurant attached, which has been recently redecorated making it a much nicer venue to eat. The food is always delicious but on our recent visits, it has taken too long to arrive.

Thai meal last night absolutely lovely, fresh flavours and presentation. Now refurbished you dont need to go anywhere else when this is on your doorstep

Though it was busy still had timely service and a great stir-fry dish with enough left over to take-away. Well prepared, presented and tasty food with good service. Time for a night-cap at the bar, also lively with students and locals alike. Everybody is made to feel welcome, 3 real ale beers on tap and a well stocked bar made for a real friendly local pub evening. I gave 5 stars though lack of parking could sometimes be a problem (on road only) but thought that this could be offset by the friendliness shown.

This is an amazing find in a little village. We booking fir 13 of us and they were ready for us. They'd asked for our meal choices before we arrived but our group wasn't together before that to sort it and they coped remarkable well. The meal was prompt, piping hot and really tasty. The spices were subtle and really authentic. Fantastic.

Our usual Thai restaurant of choice was full booked so on a friend's recommendation decided to try The George and we are so glad we did, literally couldn't fault it. Great value, super friendly, and amazing food. Would defo recommend.

I always go there! The food is delicious and the person that cooks the food is very nice! It is also a bar and they have bt sports! I recommend it highly when you are there!

The food is excellent with reasonable price but you have to wait bit longer, the wait is worth waiting when food will be served.

This is everything you could hope for in a neighborhood pub, especially if you want good food good company, and great drinks. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the regulars just make the atmosphere even more welcoming. Our favourite part is the Thai chef making authentic Thai dishes that will please any palette. The service is very prompt, the dining room and bar area are always clean, and there is even a quaint outdoor deck area. They keep a wonderful selection of local beers and gins, and a wide variety of ciders that change seasonally. Parking can be tough, but it's a nice walk if you live in the area!

Delicious cooking that you know comes from a cook that loves to feed people food that makes them happy. I cannot recommend this place enough. So glad I stumbled upon it. The Green Curry is awesome. The Banana in coconut milk dessert a revelation, rich and creamy with a kick of salt to spark the taste buds. Treat yourself.

Delicious foods and drinksserved either inside or on a lawn with boule, it is suitable for children and is a very good place to go for dinner.

It’s been probably a year since I have dined here but as ever it was excellent. The staff in the pub were all very welcoming and friendly, if you enjoy ales there is a superb choice and well kept. The food is exceptional and cooked by a lovely Thai lady who certainly knows how to prepare and deliver excellent and authentic dishes. Fantastic and looking forward to visiting again soon.

I went to the restaurant with two of my friends for birthday lunch. The table was dirty with some left bits from the previous sitting. There was no other customers throughtout our dining. The waitress was slow and very inexperienced. Food was brought to the table with no culteries prepared. Plus the most disappointing thing is the volume of the food. My friend ordered king prawn curry. The plate is filled with decorative carrott, and sliced purple cabbage, taking quarter of the plate space. The prawn curry only has 4 prawns in with some sauce. That's all it has with the rice covering half of the plate size. When asking the waitress why there is so little in the plate, she explained there should be some prawns underneath the rice. My friend showed her that nothing was under the rice. The explanation was that's the curry and they don't put much in the curry. A Thai restaurant claims they don't put much ingredient into curry dishes, which sounds quite ironic. Anyway, this was the first time visiting there, so will be the last time.

Just by luck as we were staying nearby I booked a table.the food was great . The starter for 2 to share was freshly prepared and tasted authentic fresh spring rolls and fish cakes the mains equally impressive.the green curry just the right heat and the special stir fry exceptional. I would definitely recommend this pub and if in the area again would make my first point of call

At the very first time it took ages before our food arrived they have forgotten about us due to delivery demand and the other who dine before us cant wait and just walk out. when I tasted the thai food it superb so I need to go back time and time again if you are looking for excellent thai cooking then its the right place for you long wait but the wait is worth it - I don't look for great ambience the food itself will satisfy you. Its one of my favourite Thai restaurant.

I live in Girton while this is pub is good they don”t go out of there way it is Thai food or no food only offering Azada Pizza or chips in the evening. And day time menu is limited.

George es un buen recto de pecialises pub local, que en comida tailandesa. Excepto que no la tiene. Tampoco pizzas y bistec y el menú tailandés es tan formulista, como te puedes imaginar. El restaurante es una habitación lateral de la principal pub Budas, resplandeciente con hojas de loto y fotos de los templos tailandeses, pero me siento solo kitsch. La comida está bien, pero nada especial. El servicio está muy bien y el personal del bar es especialmente alegre.

This is a tradition English Country village pub that now looks like a Thai restaurant and in that respect it was just a little strange, it is also a little 'tatty' around the edges, (i.e. a clock with numbers missing from it, a but in need of a redecoration and clean in general), but the Thai lunch we had was tasty, I had a Pad See Ewe with Pork and it was good (£8.99). It wasn't as good as some Thai restaurants I've eaten in (and I eat in quite a few) but certainly good enough. So the food was good, the place was a bit strange and tatty, hence my 'Average' review rating.

Have been here a few times and cannot recommend the food enough. It's a very down to earth pub on...

After 70 minutes we were still waiting for our main courses to arrive. When we politely explained that we didn’t have confidence in the establishment to wait any longer a lady came from the kitchen to aggressively confront us. No apology from her... and she stormed off while I was calmly explaining why the delay was unacceptable. We were the only diners on a Saturday night. That speaks volumes.

Is such a good place to eat, staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. I am extremely fussy eater will not eat anything that is green, the chef takes all of these out of my meal. What more can I expect eh??

Uno de mis amigos para cumpleaños, vino a este pub acogedor por primera vez y me sorprendió gratamente la actitud alegre del personal de trabajo y la velocidad a la que nos sirvieron. Conversamos con la joven en el bar con facilidad y nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. Se lo recomendaría a otros. Ambiente Increíble así como un equipo de trabajo claramente duras.
