Excellent food, friendly staff worth a visit if you are in the area.

As someone with 40 years of experience eating Indian food and from some of the best places in the UK I was treated to a birthday meal for my birthday. Had not had the pleasure of experiencing this restaurant before and boy do I wish I had. A beautifully presented restaurant with super friendly service. The food is outstanding and authentic. Freshly prepared food and high quality ingredients. I would highly recommend the kebab starter which blew my taste buds. The main was incredible with beautiful fluffy rice and a lovely fluffy Nan bread. My family all enjoyed their meals and every plate was cleared. Everyone was so attentive and the service was perfect. I would highly recommend dining here.

By far the finest Indian cuisine in the Cambridge area. Frequent diner at Indian Ocean and I have not yet had a visit where I could fault either the service or food.

Nice looking restaurant, quite a sterile atmosphere. Service was good. Food, disappointed! I had 3 dishes that tasted the same, I think same sauce on all 3? Needed to be more spicy overall. The bread was good though. Was also expensive - menu was very basic I wouldn't go back.

Absolutely lovely dishes, with a personal touch. Service, food and ambience are all top notch. As a person 'having to' eat out several times each week, all over the world, this is definitely a place to savour. Thank you!

What a brilliant find ! We only had 1 night in Cambridge but searched for the closest Indian to our hotel and wow were we happy with the result ! The Indian Ocean in Histon was truly amazing and probably the best Indian meal I have had since living in Glasgow many years ago. Great reception, nice friendly staff and the food was …… go and try for yourself.

I have to be honest this place t use to be good now not so .The menu has nearly gone and you are rushed with each course .The waiter we had had no customer service skills what so ever. We went a few months ago and felt like we where rushed this time wasno difference. You also do not get any chocolates or mints with your bill now no hot flannel nothing but they still whack a service charge on your bill . Very disappointed with the food and service.

We went for the September tasting menu. Absolutely delicious. Seven courses. Each one was introduced to us. I think the goat and dessert were my favourites. I think £55 represented exceptional value and will go again.

I have never been served by such a grumpy and miserable male waiter. Seemed to not care about service whatsoever.

A local favourite, it's reliably good. The recent refurbishment has paid off and the restaurant is very impressive. Excellent food and atmosphere and very polite staff.

Ordered a chicken tikka madras with tarka dal, sag aloo, and raita. The madras had no heat in it or spices that I could taste and instead tasted that the chicken was just warmed with a tin of tomatoes. The raitas had globs of joghurt with a few slices of cucumber and again no spices. Seriously, you could do much better with a jar of Patak's madras paste for a fraction of the price. Total rip off and none of the taste of takeaway indian that I have enjoyed for over 40 years! This was a Friday night and you would think they would have been on form with their top chefs!

Food was delightful, lamb 2 ways starter was probably the best piece of lamb I think I have had! 7 of us went as a group and service was brilliant, didn't have to wait long for the food. And they didn't mind us just chatting for a while after till closing time :) Well done Indian Ocean, well done!

We eat here quite often and the food is always amazing and delicious. Service great too. Only disappointment is they no longer do a keema naan

The decor is lovely with a very clean, well maintained space. The food was delicious and fantastically presented. Lovely portions and the lamb was very tender both from the starter and in the main Rogan Josh and Biriyani dishes. The onion bhargis were generous and crunchy without being oily and the Paddhi Chat was divine. All dishes were tasty and the service was great, with friendly and efficient staff. Very, very enjoyable experience. Do highly recommend!

My first visit with a group of friends, one of which had recommended we visit. We were not disappointed! The menu is not just your standard fayre but includes some spectacular house specialities with seafood and quality sourced chicken and lamb options. The service was attentive but not overbearing and our bill was good value. We’ll definitely be back and look forward to trying some different menu choices.

This was the most flavoursome and delicious meal that me and my husband have ever eaten ! Positively orgasmic ! We ordered a takeaway and it was ready on time, good customer service when I arrived. And the food was to die for ! They have surpassed themselves, you can actually taste all the different spices and flavours. Just so delicious ! I thoroughly recommend them 👌

Starters and desserts were excellent, the mains pretty average. The mains don't really fit with the setting either - very much standard Bangladeshi curry house while the rest of the menu and the restaurant itself are more modern Indian. Service was fast and attentive. Pricing is pretty high, and charging extra for minor changes or additions (£1 per spoonful of condiments) seems unnecessary considering the overall costs - not enough to annoy, but had me wondering why...

Not a spectacular setting, but being a Sunday not much of a choice! Entered with an open mind and we were not disappointed. indian food tends to be the same whether, for example, you have a Madras or Korma in Glasgow, Newcastle or Southampton . This restaurant was different as the food served was off the beaten track and different. If the restaurant was nearer home we would go back for more.

Fully enjoyed our meal but being charged £1 for extra spice to a dish I’m finding hard to believe,and extra cost for lime pickle with popadoms again 🥴but both the meals were delicious and would recommend you visit. They just need to sort their priorities and bedside manner.

I love this place, and we go quite often for family meals there because its the best Indian food in cambridge, however, the new male staff there are a downgrade to the previous guys, no where near as friendly or hospitable, and the dirty looks were unacceptable. Not enough to stop me going again but will be looking at a new regular place in the future.

Average tasting food....starters better than the mains ....one request as a Chef, please do not name a dish when it's not what it's meant to be......Roganjosh was some tomato sauce lamb.....the best things were the poppadoms with condiments to go with my Cobra lager

Went here with my colleagues for dinner, the food was soooo good. Service was great, there was quite a few of us and they managed to get food out roughly the same time, so no awkward waits in between. The madras and tikka is amazing! Well worth the five stars and recommends to anyone visiting.

Good food but seriously expensive compared to what I am used to paying. Used to paying 60% of the cost for far more of the best Indian food ever. Such is life....

A wonderful meal with a wide range of food options. We had a mix of people dining, some with dietary requirements and some who wanted to eat sides/starters rather than mains. We were all able to find things we liked and the food was delicious. The tables were well spaced out and the decor was quite modern which added to the meal as well. Next time we come to Cambridge we will be coming back!

Went to the Indian Ocean as part of a night out with a friend. The food was very good, with all ingredients complimenting each other. Although busy the staff managed well.

We ordered a masalla having had loads before in other restaurants .as well as in india This one was disturbingly bright red . We commented on that and they said that’s how a masalla is !!! At the end we also said it was too sugary but they didn’t seem bothered told us next time just ask for less sweetening. Vegetables some potatoes and a few peas! This was a vegetable option. Well will not be going back . If they had none of the usual ingredients they should have said it’s off the menu . The other dishes were side dishes and average so I wouldn’t complain about them

I've eaten at the Indian Ocean many times, and never been disappointed. This includes regular small groups, and then an annual trip after a large sporting event in Cambridge. The food is always delicious and the service excellent. Even when we turn up late on a Sunday night with a large number of ravenous athletes, the staff have always welcomed us in. Last night was group of 22, and managing the order, getting the right food for everyone, and sorting out the bill was all completely painless. I couldn't recommend the team at Indian Ocean more highly.

I was nervous when I entered because I was the only person there.... The food, however, was stunning!! One of the best Indian meals I've had outside of India!! When I left, there wasn't an empty seat on the room - testiment to the brilliant food & service. K.

food is all very good- we particularly love the sag aloo! korma is perfect for children who don't like it so spicy.

We visited this restaurant on the 24th of September 2022. The service was extremely unfriendly as they couldn't care less to have any customers to serve. Except a bearded older gentlemen who was wearing a face mask when he served us our starters, only he had a smile on his face. the food came relatively fast and we were very hungry so we ate all quick and left within an hour. However, we all had tummy ache and were really badly bloated even the next day. I would not recommend this place at all. What a shame as we love Indian food.

This Indian restaurant has definitely upped its game since it reopened with a new look. I’ve had a few very tasty dishes which have consistently been above average quality. A few fresh herbs like coriander on some dishes, a bit more creativity here and there and a few smiles on arrival would push me to leave five stars, but overall I am happy with the service and importantly, the food!

I've been going there for yeas (I live locally). I have to say the takeaway service is excellent, and so is the food. Highly recommended. We haven't visited in a while we do but will do so soon.

Staying in Histon for work, which turned out to be the most difficult place to get something to eat, luckily it led me to the Indian Ocean. The food was superb, staff were friendly (unlike every other establishment) and also some really quality wine. I don’t write reviews on many places but this deserves it. Really enjoyed it

I visited here about a month ago with some friends and I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and the quality of food served here. I ordered a Vegetable Biriyani with Raitha and I really liked the flavour of the dish and the way it was presented! If I had any criticisms, it would be that the Biriyani wasn't spicy enough for me and that the Raitha was basically just yoghurt and had to be ordered seperately. However, I really appreciated that the Biriyani came with Vegetable Curry. The quantity of the food was great as well! I will definitely recommend this place.

Been here a couple of times now and enjoyed take aways on many other occasions. The food has always been excellent.

My wife and I agreed that we had never had a better Indian meal and we've had very many. The lamb chops were superb.

Refurbished since my last visit pre-Covid. No longer looking old and pokey. Looks more spacious and brighter than before. Ordered the lamb Jalfrezi which was very tasty....and fiery!! The lamb was meltingly tender. Only one drawback though on the evening....they no longer have chapatis!! .Please bring back chapatis?!?!

You have to get there early, very busy last weekend, food good, not amazing, preferred old set up, found it very noisy, no booths anymore, shame !!

The website menu states chicken curry @ £8.50. I chose lamb shank which they did not have, so I went for chicken curry and when the bill arrived I was charged £14.00 which I queried. I was told chicken curry was not on the menu only Madras which I did NOT have. They decided to deduct the service charge from the bill which I did not have to pay anyway. The food was good but I am, very disappointed and will probably avoid in the future.

Had a lovely curry in the newly decorated restaurant. Decor very elegant and comfy seats. There was a group of us having a girls curry night and we all enjoyed our curry’s. We were the last ones out but we’re not made to feel uncomfortable - they let us sit and chat with our coffees. Highly recommend

The poppadums came with two dips (mango, onion) which were decent but would normally expect four. The main course was delicious - Lamb Rezalla, very tender, well seasoned, a superb thick sauce and good portion size too. Shame about the 10% service charge, which wasn't...

The evening was almost ruined by the professional complainers, why do these prats go out, on the next table. We asked to be moved to another table away from Mr and Mrs I'm so important and we were. The puddings are really good.

Good Indian. My husband and I love an Indian and eat many, and have eaten many all around the world. This was an ok Indian, tasty enough and good sized positions. The online ordering tool isn’t the best which is a shame. Prices are quite high, but I think probably average for Cambridge. There’s a little bit of parking straight out front. Nice enough, and we enjoyed it, but definitely not the best we have ever had.

Indian Ocean was recommended by some friends so thought we would try as a late birthday treat. The lamb chops are very tender and taste amazing, I was very impressed with the service and how well everything tasted. Definitely our new go to Indian takeaway.
