Consistently good food whenever I have been there over the laat 30 years. The blend of spices is always correct, - never any one spice overpowering the dish. Naan bread fluffy and light and overall top quality. Restaurant has unique feel to it as feels like sitting in a train carriage. Usually busy on weekends with good mix of ages and overall fairly quiet. Highly recommend.

Ordered a takeaway via Uber eats. The food was freezing cold, items were missing and both chicken dishes and 2 saag sides tasted strongly of fish. I'm no Indian cuisine chef but I do know that a chicken and a fish are two very different looking AND tasting animals. The restaurant didn't seem to care and quickly pointed me in the direction of getting a refund via Uber. Although they did answer quick so if you want to book a table for fishy dishes you'll get excellent service right away.

Had a meal yesterday value for money is the best in the area. Big portions for very cheap and the service was very good would highly recommend.

Good service and ok food. It’s the little things that make a restaurant great, such as warm plates and burners or hot surfaces to keep the food warm. All not present which was a shame. You could be much better.

I’ve tried almost every Indian in Chichester, and this was by far the worst. The food was as bland as it was expensive. The Makhani tasted like watered down cream, with no mango in sight. I wouldn’t have minded so much, but they also charged me an additional £3 for prawns on an already expensive dish (£12 for the Makhani).

Food was delicious, but had a wait for over 1 hour despite calling ahead to book for 7 people. We we're also split between 2 tables. This restaurant is very busy with takeaway service (which seems to be their priority).

I absolutely love Indian food , but this was possibly the worst takeaway I have ever had. It was inedible ! The chicken was so over cooked that you could not even chew it. The sauce was like water and the nann and rice was soggy and very undercooked. The whole dish was completely tasteless. When I rang to tell the Indian I could not consume the food and aired my disappointment , the man who answered was rude and dismissive. He would not address my complaint nor be apologetic. He refused to replace the order. This is shocking service, I would not recommend them and will certainly not be ordering from them again !

The food and service here is excellent.

Ordered tonight and food took over an hour to arrive. Food arrived and was bland and had a watery greasy top even the chicken was dry & chewy. A mircowave meal from Aldi/Iceland has been better quality. Avoid at all cost and order from anywhere apart from here. Worst curry ever!!

What a find! Traditional Indian restaurant. Drink, popadoms, main & bread - £23. Very tasty food - mine was outstanding. Sensibly portion sizes though I did leave very full - I hate it when food is wasted.

Lovely food as always, but no desert menu, bring back the lemon or orange stuffed Sorbet....

Went there for the first time a couple of Saturdays ago after just moving to Chichester, definitely won’t be the last, great food and service, highly recommended.

This was the most authentic Indian food in Chichester. The sag aloo was not like other restaurants, it was dryer and the taste was amazing. I asked for the main, as I have connections to India. And this was amazing. A little bit of bite, but the flavour from the herbs were very well balanced. Cannot remember the dish, think it was off the menu. Rice was just right. I was very happy with the meal, staff were very accommodating and polite. Yes I am returning in the New Year

Tasty food, amazing service, great prices

Haven't been here for an age, but have to say I was so impressed. The food was first class and the service exceptional. I had the spicy nutty chicken, which had a nice kick to it and really well rounded flavour. I I'm a bit of a nut, so anything with nuts works. The rest of my friends were really pleased as well with their dishes. I asked if I could have some lime pickle and they brought it straight away. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. Will be going again soon, as should you!! : )

I ordered 2 main dishes a pilau rice,naan bread and popodoms for my son and I…. It took an hour and a half to arrive on a Sunday evening it was lukewarm and the smallest portion I have ever seen for an Indian…the chicken had a strange texture like it wasn’t fresh and the sauce was like tomato purée with no taste of spices really… my son said it was like water!!!! Never again 😞🤢

We went there on Saturday evening. Food was lovely, full of flavor, freshly made samosas plus with the bill we got 2mints. The only thing which was annoying was our waiting time more than half an hour( we ordered just sides and somosas) so a bit o long.

I came here a few years ago when I was working an event at Goodwood, and it was absolutely wonderful. They put up with us rocking up as a 20-top, having only booked a couple hours in advance and the food and service was fabulous. Cut to today - I finally found this gem again having forgotten where it was. I took my girlfriend and was nervous it wouldn't live up to my goodwood memory, but it was even better. A romantic little table for two, attentive, friendly service and the food was absolutely incredible. Great portions, great prices, great flavours. If it's not clear yet, I really like this restaurant.

Fantastic food delicious tasty

Average at best, doesn't really come close to other curry houses in the area, a little expensive compared to most curry houses too and the quality is not on par with the price. I've had much better curry for half the price in Littlehampton and Portsmouth. With so much competition in the area you need to stand out and unfortunately my meal last night did not. Local advice: I seriously recommend Portsmouth for curry, you cannot beat the price for what you get over there.

Thought I would give these a try as I have tried the other Indian restaurants in the area. By far the worst curry I have had, extremely disappointed. We had 2 different curries but they both tasted the same, bland and watery. They had clearly been microwaved. The salad wasn't fresh, the cheese naan had no cheese and the peshwari naan had no fruit or nuts and tasted purely of sugar. The special rice was vile, the veg was rubbery and the rice was a solid mass. The papadams were stale. All of our order was inedible and went straight in the bin. The restaurant was informed of this and didn't sound at all surprised about the complaint. Will not even entertain the idea of returning. Nearly £45 on a tasteless, inedible meal wasted.

Order through an app but couldn’t change order from vegetable dansak to paneer dansak. I called up requesting the change and added a note. Came through with more paneer than I have ever seen in my life in a gorgeous curry. 10/10 will order again

Used to always get takeaways/eat in here, got a takeaway last night. Was bland, everything tasted the same no spice in the balti, no flavour. Not going there again

My wife and I went last night at around 6pm. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, and the ambience was really relaxed with a good buzz. The food & drinks arrived quickly, with staff ensuring we were served in a timely manner. The food itself was incredible! We ordered the garlic naan, pliau rice, Bombay potato, Makhani Chicken & a lamb dish. All were exceptional, and prepared to perfection. The chicken was juicy and tender, the lamb similar. All in all, an amazing restaurant. We're definitely going to return!

Had a curry here when it was very quiet, nice ambiance but the meal was very bland!

I usually get s takeaway and they are lovely. The people are always friendly and never seem to mind me waiting. I have eaten in and found the meal and service very good. A lovely place to go for a treat.

We had a great meal with our two teenage boys. Very tasty and good value. Staff were lovely and very attentive even though it was busy on New Years Eve. We have been going here over the years since the boys were quite young and always enjoy it.

Have only been there once, but it was a pleasant experience. Went, by chance, on banquet night (Tuesday). Starter, main, side and rice or bread for £12.99. Draught Kingfisher at £4.99. So you can fill your boots for a modest outlay. Service is good, portions reasonable and food tasty.

Such a shame,we have been going here for over 30 years and have now stopped, I don't know what has happened but so disappointed with their food now...we now go somewhere else.

I've lived in Chichester for a year and kept walking past thinking I must go in and try. My boyfriend and I decided to visit this evening and I can honestly say that we will be going back. The service is attentive from the time you step into the restaurant but not overbearing. The atmosphere is very relaxed, but formal. The food is very good, the best Indian food I have eaten in a long time, and both my boyfriend and I agreed we will definitely return.

Not bad,not great. Been before and was better hence our return, felt rushed this time, portions were adaquate, Food was nice enough nothing outstanding, desert menu whipped away before we had a chance to look at it, one of the party’s coke was flat/replaced with coke slightly better, prices were steep 12 quid for the main no rice, probably won’t return again

I tried to buy some Indian food but they were uncooperative and downright rude I waited for an hour for the restaurant to open on a freezing Sunday afternoon and when five of the staff turned up they assumed that I was some sort of beggar and came out and tried to give me 5x20p pieces they eventually let me inside and they then informed me that the chef was not coming in for another hour.. It was appalling customer service. I was sitting outside in the freezing cold in my wheelchair... One of the staff could at least have invited me in out of the cold... I would not recommend this place to anyone they were highly offensive... I gave up trying to buy any food.... What a complete waste of time..

Nice food but could have been hotter

Lovely food and service. My boss swears by the Old Cottage and takes visitors out for meals regularly. I got to join the fun last time and can see why he rates it! Dansak was perfect, the portion sizes were decent and I ended up taking some home for my husband.

Decent curry at really good prices. Best value restaurant within the city walls (strictly speaking it is on the line of the city walls). Recommended to book on weekends.

For those who have had wonderful meals you must have been lucky. Of the 6 of us only 2 were satisfied with their meal. Overall the food was bland, the chef must have ran out of spices. The vegetables in the vegetarian curry tasted like they came out of a can, not a good quality one either. If this is the best curry house in Chichester I would suggest calling a cab elsewhere elsewhere.

TOP FOOD & GREAT PRICE My wife would eat here every night if allowed. The food is always excellent and the staff are very attentive but discreet. Best price Indian Food I have seen anywhere for the quality. No parking but there is a carpark close by.

Dont not go to this restaurant This restaurant had rubbish service cheap quality meat, sorry to all the other people who have wrote on this site but you need to get out and go to some other restaurants, because this food was cooked badly with very little spices, ive been eating this food once or twice a week for 27 years and this food is very poor quality, i can only think that the other reviews have been writing by friends and family, I was with 4 other colleagues and we all felt the same about this meal and as for it being cheap it wasn't, and we did not see any of them free drinks I read about. Regards Stomach aches
