Disappointing Sunday lunch - booked as read reviews and it's also included in the Bateman's Brewery tour/Sunday lunch. Two very slim small slices of pork - our 7 year old granddaughters can eat more - and had to ask for another roast potato - only given two -and rather begrudgingly 'I shouldn't really' was the response, and was given one. I felt terrible!! Surely the point of a carvery is that you help yourself to veg? Most of the other veg was cooked well and was colourful, the parsnips however were on the rather hard/thin side! We were booked in for 12 and were out just about after an hour. No mention of vegetarian option, we were obviously new to the pub and there was no informing us of the system, just telling us where our table was. There is hardly any room to swing a mouse, let alone a cat. We were seated by the fire side with hardly any room for two, let alone 4 and we ate and left as soon as we were able. Plates cleared as soon as we were finished - no query if we wanted a dessert - in fact a couple behind us finished and were asked to vacate their table as their plates were taken away. Disappointed to say the least - the bar maid did in fact provide us with a Bateman's pint glass - she overheard my conversation with my husband and I was happy to make a donation for the celebration glass. Overall, we would not return to The Old Chequers and would have reservations to visit other Bateman's Pubs for their Sunday Carvery. I'd appreciate some feedback if possible from yourselves, thank you.

The Chequers really is a real rural country pub with a good choice menu, I have tried many things on the menu and my faves are the Batemans beer battered fish and chips which is amazing and the homemade pies, my fave is beef n ale. I understand that before being a pub many years ago it was the local jail house.

As always..packed and I'm glad we booked, although I would say not crowded. The weather allowed us to eat in the garden, which or two dogs (who were very welcome) enjoyed. The Sunday Roast is excellent. Big portions, choices of meat and lots of different vegetables to choose from. Gravy is delicious. Shout out to the chef, who cooks beautifully. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. This will be a 'once a month' at least for us

I have never been to a pub/ restaurant where there was no flexibility regarding accommodating dietary requirements.. The worst part was the lack of care/ customer service... so back in the car to Barley Mow, where it was the total opposite, all requests, were gratefully delivered....soooo disappointing The old chequers Inn😕

Whilst staying locally over the August Bank Holiday weekend, we happened to find the Old Chequers Inn on our way back to the holiday park from a day out with the family in Skegness. We were looking for somewhere to eat after a full and tiring day, Signposted off the A52 we chanced the slight deviation from the main road, and are ever glad that we did! Welcoming staff advised us that tables were available and that they were mid food service. We ordered Rib Eye Steaks, Pie of the day, Chilli Con Carne for the adults and pasta and chicken nuggets for the kids. The food arrived promptly and the portions were very generous, even accommodating a chips for jacket substitution on one of the Steaks. Well, the food was delicious, cooked to perfection and great value for money, so much so, that we chanced an opportunity to book for a Sunday roast for us all the very next day. We were told that although the pub only usually served until 3pm, but they would likely still be taking orders until 4pm, and that they could fit us in, we were overjoyed at the lengths that the team here went to accommodate us and would like to thank them all for making our visits thoroughly enjoyable! If you are ever out this way and travelling back from Skegness down the A52 towards Boston, look out for the brown signposts to this place. You will not regret it! If I could rate more than 5, I most certainly would!

Went for Dinner on a Tuesday evening, The beer selection is great. Had the Liver and Onions, Bacon and Sausage with Mash special and the plate was groaning. So good that we went back on Friday night when I had the 'Dirty Burger' a tower of large burger, Bacon, Pulled Pork and smoked cheddar with a large home made onion ring. The burger was cooked correctly; not dry and brown in the middle like some. Tried different beers. They even had Batemans beers to buy in bulk so left with a couple of crates. Will definitely go back next year.

My family and I visited this pub for a meal, and so glad we did. It was beautiful. We had the beef chilli, scampi and a minted lamb steak. The beef chilli came with rice, was so tasty. The scampi I decided to have with salad instead of the chips and peas, also very tasty. The lamb just fell apart as you touched it and was just mouthwatering. We managed to squeeze in a pudding, they were all delicious too. The batemans gold is like amber nectar and all of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and we all felt really welcome. The establishments covid rules are A* with a one way system, hand sanitiser and all tables cleaned frequently. Will certainly be going back very soon.

We have been staying in the area and was recommended because of the food. We arrived and they had messed up our reservation and made out this our fault. But they did sort this quite quickly. Upon sitting down and ordering and food the landlady started. The food the pub and drinks are actually nice, but people be warned and in fact stay away because the atmosphere that the landlady creates totally spoils your time in there. Staying at a campsite in the area and on our way back from a day out the heavens opened !! This pub had been recommended to us by the people on the campsite so we thought we’d pop in for a drink (and maybe a light bite) As it was obviously far too wet to sit outside we asked the bar staff if they allowed dogs inside ? No sorry was the sharp reply. We had read the many trip advisor reviews over the years that stated dogs were allowed to “the left” I don’t know if there has been a change of management since those reviews were written, but you’d think after been closed during lockdown and losing so much money this year already they would’ve reverted back to been a dog friendly pub. It is such a shame as we know so many of our fellow campers take their dogs on holiday with them and you certainly can’t rely on the British weather!!

A true Lincolnshire Oasis, only a short distance from Batemans Brewery at Wainfleet. As a lifelong follower of Batemans' XB bitter, the pint that was served was up there with the very best, and it was a great regret that as driver I could not indulge in maybe a few more - next time. The food was also first class - what could be better on a cold foggy night than a generous slice of steak pie (shortcrust pasty), a large portion of mash, peas, and real gravy. A steak served on a rock was also generously sized and well up to the mark. The pub has been recently modernised and is as welcoming as the staff are. It may sees like I'm being paid to write this, but I'm not. Many pubs don't deliver the promise, but the Chequers certainly does. Just go there.

To the lady who had steak on the rocks on Friday evening you was asked if you wanted to have the plate changed by the staff also you actually didn't complain until you had almost eaten the food. Also the staff did apologise for the mustard being out of date it was just an oversight which can happen to the most upmarket place to eat. Also the way of which you voiced your complaint was somewhat disturbing to the young boy who was in your company and the other people who sadly was in your company.

Tonight my husband and I along with family decided to visit The Chequers Inn In Croft Lincolnshire for a meal and drinks. I decided to Order The Rocks Ribeye steak for £17.95 that would come along on a sizzling flat stone. I paid for our meal upfront whilst ordering drinks .BIG HUGE mistake on my part !! My steak arrived sizzling looking good I know that Ribeye has a vein of fat through it which helps it become a better cut of meat .I let it sizzled on both sides for approx 3 minutes as I do not like well done steak .This is where the problems started I took the steak off of the rock and placed it on my plate.I then asked for some English Mustard .A waitress bought me the mustard however it looked more like dark French mustard even though it stated Colman’s English mustard on the bottle .A closer look revealed it went out of date in Sept 2018. I called the waitress over who then went off to find me a newer one .She came back did not apologise but tried to explain Colman’s must have sent out an out of date batch to them ???? The fun really began The waitresses were hoovering in the background with the noisiest hoover you could imagine I then after cutting into my ribeye and spitting into a tissue the first 3 mouthfuls of steak was like thick strong elastic I thought well ok this just might be part of the vein .This went on forever me trying to find a bit of meat I could actually chew and Swallow from this steak .Eventually the fat and elastic veins won . I called over the waitress and said it was inedible .She never removed the plate and went to see the chef The Owner !! When he eventually appeared his said this is what ribeye was like and that he loved fat. The waitress piped up Did you cook it properly!! I then said I would like a refund OMG The Landlady then came out and said No Refunds That’s our Policy .I couldn’t believe it not only no refund but no offer of another steak either . The rudeness of Landlord and Landlady would win them a Trophy but the food never will ! A disgrace to have this pub serving such diabolical food in such a beautiful area !!! I will be taking this further as they have now stolen money off of a customer by refusing to refund a Steak even Hannibal Lecter could chew.

The place is very traditional but have made the place feel warm, relaxed and friendly so well done to all I will recommend to everyone and will defiantly be back on my next visit aswell!!

My favourite pub is now back to its former glory, after having a wobbly 5 years or so it’s finally getting back to what it once was.

Very family friendly place, the food was really really good. My daughter had the pizza which was freshly cooked, I had the chicken and that was tasty and wasn't dry and my husband had the chilli which was very tasty too. The staff were very welcoming, the log fire was a plus as it's cold out, was a very lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Visited The Old Chequers tonight for a bite to eat and can fully recommend it, I had a fantastic homemade chicken Kiev with chips and peas. It was well worth every penny and will visit again very soon. Lovely friendly staff, great atmosphere, cosy surroundings and fantastic food.

Just got back to our holiday cottage after a really lovely meal out this evening. 2nd time visiting this week and would highly recommend. Everyone in the pub was very friendly and made us and our dog feel really welcome. Having this pub down the road from us was a real bonus to our trip away. Thank you!

Stayed locally for a week on holiday and visited the pub for a drink a couple of times. Made it for dinner this eve and wish we had made it sooner, food was scrummy. We had a burger each and they were huge, really fresh and tasty. Very light and crispy onion rings and top notch chips. Place made even better by the lovely guy who served us, he was friendly and professional. Would recommend this place and would definitely come back when we are in the area again.

Lovely to see a nice village pub still up and running. The welcome was friendly by staff and locals could not have made us more welcome. Only had a drink but the pub was packed with people eating which was a good sign.

Visited the Old Chequers for dinner with my wife ant two boys. The new menus are great with daily specials. I had delicious lamb chops, my wife had seafood linguine. My eldest son has a limited diet and the pub knocked something custom up for him...delighted. Food was very tasty with generous portions and very competitively priced. I've noticed the pub is now offering a rotating ale which is great, it gives more variety. Carling also now available. Child & dog friendly also. Special mention for Emma the bar maid, she's very efficient.

This lovely quaint pub and restaurant is just off the beaten track and away from the bustling crowds of Skegness. It is under new management and wow what a difference, the lovely Lorraine or as we have nicknamed her "Elaine" is very welcoming and professional along with her fantastic staff. They have recently acquired a new Chef, Vicki, to join there already excellent chef Alex. I must say Vicki's imput on their Chefs Choice Menu is stunning, she is producing some exquisitely different pretty dishes, the sort of food you would expect to find in some fine dining restaurants but the cost of them is VERY reasonable too! Their grill menu is very good and the cuts of meat are excellent, Sunday Dinner is a must lots of choice of fresh vegetables and cooked with love. It is a refreshing change to have somewhere so cosy, clean and excellent food on our door step. I am going to regret writing this review as now its going to get busy! Keep up the good work and well done to everyone on turning this little Gem around.

We are very local so probably biased but this is a great local pub with good atmosphere and good reasonably priced food. Would especially recommend the mixed grill and the Sunday dinner. Very dog friendly in the bar.

We visited here for breakfast after a very busy morning packing up our tent to go home after a stay at a nearby campsite (extra points for being dog friendly!). All very hungry there were plenty of options to choose from and even the option to build your own breakfast which was great for my daughter who wouldn’t eat a full breakfast but would still like certain items! The staff were lovely, the service was quick and the food was delicious! Extra shoutout to the iced latte and the big buts breakfast. It was amazing! We will definitely be returning when we are back in Anderby. Thank you!

Spotted from the car park and decided to stop for a coffee. There was some seating outside so perfect for anyone with dogs. It was a beautiful spring day so we also decided to have some cakes and a cheese scone. I have to say the cakes were fab and the cheese scone was the best I have ever had. Can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommended.

After having had a fantastic experience here midweek during the summer, we promised ourselves we would be back for Sunday dinner. We booked by email, which was confirmed within minutes, Howe when we arrived there was no record of the booking. I was able to find the confirmation email. We were told that we could be accommodated but it would have to be in the bar area as there were 3 other bookings which already had restaurant tables reserved. We were advised to pick a table and they would set it up for us. We showed them where we would like to sit and waited for someone to bring some seating to the table. After 10 minutes we were still standing so found a different table which had seats in place. (We had already informed them that my husband was recovering from a broken ankle) Eventually the waitress came and gave us cutlery and placemats but no salt and pepper. She took our meat orders and I asked whether the veg would include cauliflower cheese, as I would like to not have it, as I have an allergy/intolerance. We waited a further half an hour for our meals, which came with the vegetables served on a tray, including the cauliflower cheese. There was only one spoon which was resting in the cheese sauce so I had to request another one. I then dished myself up a spoonful of swede/carrot mash and one broccoli floret. I did try to dish up some cabbage but found that when lifted from the plate, the cabbage came out from under the cauliflower cheese and covered in the sauce, so I had to not have cabbage. After the meal, the waitress came to clear the table. She dropped some vegetables on the tablecloth and asked if we wanted puddings to which I responded yes. After waiting for 38 minutes with no sign of the waitress to clean the table or take our pudding order, we decided to leave. On taking our payment the bar staff asked if everything had been ok, so I mentioned the above. He simply said, ‘sorry about that ‘but the mains were ok?’ I chose not to continue with the conversation, as my husband had overheard the barman say that he was going to rip someone’s head off. We are really disappointed as we had been telling everyone about how good our experience in the summer was. To top it all, there was a very large dog in the area which smelled strongly and a group of young children also came and used the pool table right next to us, despite there being a notice advising that nobody under 16 was allowed to use it. Another customer did point it out but was ignored. One or two little things we could have overlooked/forgiven but unfortunately there were too many today and we won’t be back
