It’s not often you can see the boat that caught your lunch from your table. A real gem of a place. Sitting outside in the courtyard on a sunny Octobers day. If a fabulous seafood restaurant is your thing then you should try this. Delicious fresh crab salads washed down with a glass of Cornish brewed beer. Just the ticket thankyou.

A disappointing visit today. We won’t be returning. We should have checked the amount we were to be charged for double egg and chips. £14.50! This was chosen as there are few options for vegetarians. My own crab sandwich was tasteless. Sorry but we won’t be returning.

I went to this Restaurant today with my Husband for our wedding anniversary meal. We had Crab Salad. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and professional and even bought a bowl of water for our dog. The setting is excellent too. We have been here once before when we were on holiday and chose here because it was delicious last time too. We will definitely return next time we are on The Lizard.

Stayed on the Lizard, at Mullion and visited this place twice for lunch. The service was very good and also friendly, the atmosphere was great for a pub yard, location being very central and opposite the harbour slipway. Seafood Chowder was superb, not cheap, but better value than many other places in this part of the world. Can thoroughly recommend.

I go in the cafe several times on each visit to cadgwith. I usually get my jam and cream doughnut and a pot of tea (if you haven't tried one, you need to) Of course this year was no different but I also tried the Chowder. Which I didn't think I would like to be honest but it was absolutely delicious 😋 Amazing food, amazing tea and most of all amazing staff! The staff go above and beyond and you are always greeted with a smile.

Nice spot opposite the beach and a pleasant courtyard location. We had two crab salads at £20 each. They were average - although the salad was fresh and plentiful, there was no dressing so it was pretty boring. The crab was only white meat, which I find bland as you need the brown meat for deep flavour. So, overall underwhelming.

So first off, I never ate food here... It was a pit stop from a coastal hike I had just finished and in the way back to the car. However, I wish I would've come back to eat. The first thing you need to know is that this is a seafood place... And the sea food they cook is literally offloaded from the dock just a few yards away... It doesn't get fresher!! My wife had the crab bisque and she said it was just terrific...a definite 5 star. The restaurant itself is kind of tucked into a grotto of sorts right off the street. It has a lot of character. I wish I had had the fish and chips... Perhaps next time!

The restaurant is in the small town of Cadgwith. The ambience of the place is very nice and the Old Cellars is also very comfortable, albeit rustic. The food is very tasty and very good quality. The sweet dishes such as: B. the scones are freshly prepared and homemade. The prices are average for Cornwall and therefore OK. A visit to the place and the restaurant is recommended.

Treated my dad on Father’s Day to a cream scone and coffee and it was by far the best scone I’ve had on this trip. The jam was delicious and in a little pot, there was masses of clotted cream and the scone was the perfect texture. As for the price I was super shocked as it was far cheaper than I was expecting and the coffees were excellent too. Lovey little pub, with a cobbled courtyard with a gate over looking the harbour. There was a good variety of food to cater for multiple folk - we struggled having a mixture of folk who were veggie or allergic to seafood so food was hard to find in cadgwith. We used to enjoy visiting the Old Cellars every year. This year - our first visit since before COVID - was disappointing. Cadgwith is a very attractive village and the Old Cellars used to be a great place for tea. The table and menus were very sticky. We were told this was caused by the antiviral cleaner. That was probably true, but the crumbs and marks we pointed out were ignored. In general, the staff were not friendly or helpful. The biggest problem was the scones. They were taken to another table, where the people sitting peered over them and moved the plates before they were brought to us. The scones were warm but had leathery outsides, as would happen if they were heated in a microwave. The bottom of one of the scones was badly burned and it should not have been served. Tea was OK, served in a metal pot with no separate hot water (I expect it would have been provided on request).

The Old Cellars has a number of seating areas but the evening one was in the small inside area with limited seating and needs advance booking. Due to the kitchen being so close to the dining area you get a lot of noise from the clatter of pots and pans as they are cooking which is not conducive with a relaxing dining experience. The real negative was the fact that by the time we left our clothes, including our coats hanging on the coat rack, smelt of cooking oil. This could be due to again being so close to the kitchen area or the extractor was not working. Having said all this the starters were very good. The Lobster Bisque with Cadgwith Crab Rarebit was very good and full of flavour but could have done with a bit more crab. The Pan Seared Scallops were perfectly cooked melt in the mouth. The Chicken and Chorizo Paella with crusty bread was a little thick and gloopy it need more liquid and sadly the bread was not crusty. There was ample chicken and chorizo but the chorizo could have been sliced thinner or cut into smaller pieces but overall a nice rounded flavour to the dish. Unfortunately, the Crevettes on the Surf and Turf were tasty but just over cooked and almost rubbery. My steak was full of flavour but a little dry and the béarnaise sauce fell out and not poured smoothly from the pot but tasted very nice. The red cabbage coleslaw overwhelmed the plate was and the red cabbage could itself could have been sliced thinner and half the quantity on the plate. What really spoilt the evening was the 500% mark-up on the Tesco own brand Pinot Grigio wine, they could have at least taken the Tesco label off before serving!! Overall the food was ok but way overly priced.

Gorgeous location! Extremely busy so I give this review with some understanding that these things do happen. My mum had the crab sandwich and it was superb. I had the prawn salad and it was not so great. The prawns and salad came with no dressing at all. It was a bowl of prawns and a plate of lettuce and I sat there for 30 minutes before anyone came over or I could get someone’s attention to find out it should’ve come with coleslaw and dressing…they brought the dressing out (after my mum had finished her food and I had eaten half mine out of hunger) but never brought the coleslaw and didn’t really seem bothered by this mistake. I would try this place again as it has wonderful reviews and in a great location.

Really good service and food and atmosphere, yes at a first glance the price may look a little bit more than you thought it would be but trust me it definitely is worth the money when you see the food and the portion sizes. Definitely recommended if your in Redruth or the area, only pick up if any and I can say this about 90% of places in Cornwall and that's the parking as you have to try and find somewhere on the main road.

First time trying a lounge, thought would try there for food as was my birthday. Ordered steak although was over priced for a 8oz with small bowl of fries, tiny bit of oily rocket on the side' for £20.50 would of expected more. Ordered medium well, it came out dark pink inside sent it back and it was replaced with an over cooked dry chewy one. First time ever eating in a lounge and won't be trying any more in the future

Limited menu but lovely food, service and place. BUT WOW your prices are now extortionate! Birthday celebration for 2 last week: 2 x pre-dinner drinks (2 x beer/prosecco), no starters, moules and frittes, plaice and frittes, bottle white wine, 2 x affagato dessert (although we asked for 1 to share!). Bill came just under £160!!! Cheapest bottle of white wine available on the night was £36...and it was served warm in a bucket with ice...shoddy. Small portion of moules and frittes £22, then the cheek of an extra £6 for a piece of bread to mop up the source! And a stealth 10% service charge added to the bill. You are a 'beach hut', wooden floor, sand, lovely ambience, but no view at this time of year in the evenings. Come on guys...too expensive! We've enjoyed numerous visits to the Beach Hut over the years, but not again at these prices sorry.
