I go in the cafe several times on each visit to cadgwith. I usually get my jam and cream doughnut and a pot of tea (if you haven't tried one, you need to) Of course this year was no different but I also tried the Chowder. Which I didn't think I would like to be honest but it was absolutely delicious 😋 Amazing food, amazing tea and most of all amazing staff! The staff go above and beyond and you are always greeted with a smile.

Nice spot opposite the beach and a pleasant courtyard location. We had two crab salads at £20 each. They were average - although the salad was fresh and plentiful, there was no dressing so it was pretty boring. The crab was only white meat, which I find bland as you need the brown meat for deep flavour. So, overall underwhelming.

Treated my dad on Father’s Day to a cream scone and coffee and it was by far the best scone I’ve had on this trip. The jam was delicious and in a little pot, there was masses of clotted cream and the scone was the perfect texture. As for the price I was super shocked as it was far cheaper than I was expecting and the coffees were excellent too. Lovey little pub, with a cobbled courtyard with a gate over looking the harbour. Fantastic

There was a good variety of food to cater for multiple folk - we struggled having a mixture of folk who were veggie or allergic to seafood so food was hard to find in cadgwith. Beer was very expensive. Nice venue close to the harbour with a good amount of shade. Dog friendly but staff were generally very rude. Ok experience but would advise going elsewhere if you have the options.

We used to enjoy visiting the Old Cellars every year. This year - our first visit since before COVID - was disappointing. Cadgwith is a very attractive village and the Old Cellars used to be a great place for tea. The table and menus were very sticky. We were told this was caused by the antiviral cleaner. That was probably true, but the crumbs and marks we pointed out were ignored. In general, the staff were not friendly or helpful. The biggest problem was the scones. They were taken to another table, where the people sitting peered over them and moved the plates before they were brought to us. The scones were warm but had leathery outsides, as would happen if they were heated in a microwave. The bottom of one of the scones was badly burned and it should not have been served. Tea was OK, served in a metal pot with no separate hot water (I expect it would have been provided on request).

The Old Cellars has a number of seating areas but the evening one was in the small inside area with limited seating and needs advance booking. Due to the kitchen being so close to the dining area you get a lot of noise from the clatter of pots and pans as they are cooking which is not conducive with a relaxing dining experience. The real negative was the fact that by the time we left our clothes, including our coats hanging on the coat rack, smelt of cooking oil. This could be due to again being so close to the kitchen area or the extractor was not working. Having said all this the starters were very good. The Lobster Bisque with Cadgwith Crab Rarebit was very good and full of flavour but could have done with a bit more crab. The Pan Seared Scallops were perfectly cooked melt in the mouth. The Chicken and Chorizo Paella with crusty bread was a little thick and gloopy it need more liquid and sadly the bread was not crusty. There was ample chicken and chorizo but the chorizo could have been sliced thinner or cut into smaller pieces but overall a nice rounded flavour to the dish. Unfortunately, the Crevettes on the Surf and Turf were tasty but just over cooked and almost rubbery. My steak was full of flavour but a little dry and the béarnaise sauce fell out and not poured smoothly from the pot but tasted very nice. The red cabbage coleslaw overwhelmed the plate was and the red cabbage could itself could have been sliced thinner and half the quantity on the plate. What really spoilt the evening was the 500% mark-up on the Tesco own brand Pinot Grigio wine, they could have at least taken the Tesco label off before serving!! Overall the food was ok but way overly priced.

We managed to find a table and then placed order at the bat. Despite the tables all being occupied we received swift service on the drinks and food order. The crab salad and sautéed scallops were great, the crab was really fresh and a good large helping with a salad, the scallops was a smaller portion and I would recommend ordering a side order of salad or chips if you are really hungry after a walk. The staff are cleaning the tables down after each group leave and are taking names and contacts in case any Covid cases crop up. A nice location and ambiance and pretty expensive for what it is. I’ve had better cream teas for a sight less money and the £3:00 jam doughnut (yes you read that right) is a warm, if slightly stale, ring doughnut with a huge dollop of jam in the middle. It wasn’t altogether unpleasant, indeed my children thought it was great, but three quid? Really?

Having been in Cornwall for a few days and not having had any seafood yet, we were v.excited to head to Cadgwith and get some crab, etc. Gorgeous tiny fishing village with one place to eat,the Old Cellars. Fast forward 60mins and £28 later and I'm tucking into a really lame 1970's crab salad and my wife has the prawn version. It's a (toddlers) handful of crab/north-sea micro-prawns in a ramekin set in a pool of iceberg lettuce, cucumber and egg. Sort of dish that gives salads a bad name, give me a crab and a hammer and Id have had a nice meal. There was some obligatory COVID weirdness but hey-ho.Wouldn't recommend, shame cos it could be great.

We came here for lunch whilst walking from Coverack to Lizard along the coast path. You order and pay at the bar, which we did. We ordered a crab salad and a jacket potato, which arrived after about 30 minutes. The crab salad was very good, although the jacket potato tasted like it had been microwaved in a hurry so was average at best. However, we needed the fuel so ate it anyway. It was a hot day and we had emptied our four water bottles walking to Cadgwith in the morning so I went to the bar and asked one of the staff if they would fill them from the tap. The staff member filled the first two bottles in about 10 seconds and then said "I'm only filling two of them" before disappearing off to the kitchen. I was so stunned that I was speechless. It's not as if I had just walked in off the street. I was a paying customer.Given the hit or miss quality of the food and the poor customer service I won't be returning any time soon.

We grabbed a table for a sandwich at lunchtime and just enjoyed the surroundings. I'd easily say this is my favourite little Cornish village, it really doesn't get anymore cornish than here.My only slight annoyance is that the menu doesn't state anything about the restaurant, thankfully i picked up a local leaflet which explains more but only in a local shop was we told that the restaurant is owned buy a local fisherman, if I knew i may have been tempted to grab more of a fish meal.. Please don't make any changes but do explain a little more about yourselves and explain the fishing connection. Will be back soon hopefully!

My family and I arrived at the Old Cellars on Saturday 31st August consisting of 3 adults and 3 children ( 5, 7 and 15 years ).The afternoon of that day the two youngest were not feeling very well but having visited last year they were keen to re-visit as Cadgwith was their favourite cove. On arrival we easily located a table outside on a hot sunny day. Surprisingly quiet with only 2 tables occupied. The 2 youngest children were complaining of thirst and so we took 2 bottles of water out our bag for them to drink. ( obviously as they were not very well we wanted to keep them hydrated ).Having decided what we were going to order I stood up to head inside however whilst doing so I could see an old woman inside pointing at us. Within 30 seconds a female walked outside and told us the children could not drink anything bought from outside the restaurant. She gave us no time for any explanation as I had clearly seen on the bottom of the menu that this was unacceptable. However this was merely to tide the children over whilst we decided on our drinks selections. I refused to enter and explain ourselves having not been given the opportunity to do so. Customer service skills or a little bit of common sense wouldn't go a miss and so we left immediately. I could understand if we were using their table to have a picnic with our own food and drinks but this was not the case at all. 2 sips of water and a packet of crisps for the children to keep them happy. Maybe if we had been approached and been given the opportunity to explain we may have remained but instead we had 2 young children feeling like they had done something wrong and forced out.

We always stop here for lunch before starting our coastal walks around the area. My friend orders the prawn sandwiches and I order the crab sandwiches and then we swap so we have two of each. They're good value being on a par with other cafes in Cornwall, and always delicious. They're served with salad, coleslaw and a ramekin of chips each which, for us, is more than enough. The outside seating is lovely... infact I've never sat inside to eat though it all looks lovely. The ladies toilet is a single loo but it's clean and well stocked. We recently returned from a week in Cadgwith, after 15 years away. Nothing had changed & this very friendly, small courtyard restaurant remained. The only difference being, that it now closes at 5pm. We only had drinks; sandwiches & cakes there, on three afternoons but we always enjoyed everything. One lady who made me a luxury hot chocolate, was especially pleasant & made us very welcome. It was delicious, like a volcano of cream, marshmallows & chocolate flake! Also try the hot, homemade donut with jam & clotted cream. DELICIOUS. My husband chose the cider & sandwiches, which he couldn't fault. We shall be returning next June & September.

I went here for the Crab Salad on the recommendation of previous visitors to my holiday cottage in Cadgwith.

Came back this year having enjoyed it last year. Still thoroughly worth the trip. Fish and chips absolutely perfect as ever and my husband is a connoisseur believe me. My daughter and I both wanted the lobster salad but I had the crab and no less disappointed. if you like a salad these guys certainly know their business. Everything you could ask for. Lovely dressing. Wonderful service. Do not walk past but go and enjoy a fantastic freshly cooked lunch.

Visited the village as it is right on the coast path. But it looks good and has a nice little harbor (just local fishermen). But right in the middle is this restaurant. It looks nice. Had friendly staff and offered a great coffee. The menu offers more good food but unfortunately it was to early for lunch.

Dated and service wasn’t great. In such a picturesque village, you could make so much more of it. The restaurant wasn’t welcoming, food very average and drinks over priced.

Schön im Innenhof. Guter Tee- gute Scones! Aber auch die herzhaften Gerichte sahen gut aus! Außerdem gibt es hier Original Roskillys Cornish Ice-Cream!

Visited for lunch and had a lot of tea, a lobster salad and a crab salad. Not too generous with the amount of shellfish but pleasant enough. A little expensive at over £30 but I suppose shellfish rarely cheap.

This café is set in the courtyard where the pilchards used to be packed into barrels centuries ago. It's a very atmospheric and historic place which has lost none of it's charm. The view from the little courtyard is directly onto the cove where the fishing boats sit waiting on the beach for their next launch. We had crab sandwiches, the best , sweetest, crab I have ever tasted. Staff are very happy and friendly. There is a fish shop opposite selling the daily catch. As sweet and authentic a place as Cadgwith is not to be missed and the food here is good. (Can also recommend the Inn next door for lovely tasty fish dishes).

We lunched here today. The Tuna salad was exceptional. Lettuce, cucumber, cherry toms, black olives, croutons and the sweetest podded peas all came with a salad dressing on the side. Super value. The atmosphere homely and the staff all very happy. Will certainly visit again.

Having stopped off for a cream tea whilst walking the coastal path, I was then asked to pay 50 pence to fill up a small water bottle. This is the only establishment that I have come across that has levied such a charge! And this only 10 days after SW coastal path cafes were being congratulated on national TV for filling up water bottles for free! Well, not this one! Perhaps they will be charging customers for flushing the loo soon!

We had a great lunch yesterday; crab sandwich comes with a ramekin of chips, coleslaw, lovely salad, all for £8.95, very good value. Weather was perfect and we sat outside in the courtyard right opposite the harbour with fishing boats. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and service excellent. Also a dog friendly place to eat especially good for walkers enjoying the coastal path, as we were. Fully recommended and we hope to return very soon

We went on a circular walk around the countryside, with a final section along the Coast Path, finishing in Cadgwith at about 3.30 pm. The Old Cellars was still serving food (they close at 4 pm) so we were able to order our late lunch from their excellent menu. The drinks were good too and very welcome! The staff were very friendly and we were served quickly despite the fact that there were several other customers already there.

On a hot May day in Cornwall - yes, I know it's unlikely - we stopped at The Old Cellars for lunch. I had the finest fresh fish I have tasted in years; cooked to perfection with tasty chips and salad, washed down with local beer. Liz had a huge crab salad that she struggled to finish, but she pronounced it delicious too. Service was quick and friendly and the price was very reasonable

We stopped in for lunch. Great staff and a varied menu. I had the crab salad, which was very tasty. The wines, ciders and gin and tonics were also good. A great place to visit when in the area of Lizzard.

Complete disgrace. Food was disgusting, microwaved to within an inch of its life and the staff were even worse. Nobody even checked back, more concerned with their own social lives. Please don't go he
