Amazing historycal place. The Pub has amazing features inside. You need to visit and enjoy a pint and food. There is a garden area with a parked London red bus. Food was great and service very friendly. We had a great time. It is busy in the evenings as it is by the City of London financial area.

What an incredible place. First, amazing atmosphere. It’s in an old bank with high ceilings and a square bar in the middle. The food was outstanding. It was British Pie week so I had the venison and red wine pie. The crust was clearly made from scratch. My wife had the chicken and mushroom. Then we had the toffee cheesecake which was fluffy and perfect. The waitress was super nice and accommodating. The price was very reasonable for the quality and taste of the food. One piece of advice, make a reservation if you want to eat here. This place on a Thursday night was packed

A handsome brewery pub located in the spectacularly high and very richly decorated rooms of the former Bank of England Law Courts. We went there several times for the 'Sunday Roast' (huge portions) but also for the 'British Pie Week' in March (both the chicken and mushroom pie and the venison and red wine pie are delicious) and were happy with the dishes served. The drinks menu corresponds to the standard of most London pubs and the service is friendly, but not overly ambitious about making the guests' stay particularly pleasant. It is above all the historical ambience that gives this restaurant on Fleet Street a special appeal. Cheers! 🥂

Has been a go to pub in London everytime. But now for some reason it had turned into a club or something cause the music was so loud you couldnt have a conversation and making an order was hard. Why would you play Pitbull on full in a traditional place like this? For food i had the Pie tasting plate. Beef was good but the chicken and potato versions were not even close to a restaurant level.

Could be a lot better. The interior is truly beautiful but the ambience is let down considering the history with speakers high on the walls pumping out disco music like it’s a pre nightclub location. The other main issue I had was queue jumping and staff who appeared to be very tired as they were not noticing who was next to be served in the very large serving area. Waited nearly 20 minutes to be served whilst other clients were served in five minutes. Most of the real ales were not available so had to have the keg beers. Empty glasses everywhere. In all, I expected a lot better. Clearly understaffed and not fair on the staff working there. Great place but soured by the experience of horrible music and poor service. Will not be back and not recommended. There are better more historic pubs in the vicinity.

visited yesterday with cousins from Ireland who really wanted to see it . The customer service was dreadful , I rarely leave reviews but this was as bad as it gets . I waited 15 minutes to be served drinks , there were 5 people behind the bar and one serving . I then went back to order food and after being ignored for a further 15 minutes we left without even finishing our drinks . Beautiful building appalling service !!

Have visited this pub twice in the last week . On both occasions the bar area was short staffed and customers had to wait to get served for an unacceptable time. Pleasant and efficient staff in the small separate dining area. Usual average ,expensive London pub fare. Toilets upstairs for a change but still a lingering odour.

After viewing on social media I expected a cross between a bar and pub experience. This was certainly much more of a pub/Wetherspoons style venue. It has outside space so may be better in the summer months however volume levels internally render it practically unusable. With no live music one is left wondering of the value of attending.

Located on Fleet Street is this pub (former law court branch of the former Bank of England). We were at a table near the bar where they don't have table service (we don't know if this is the case throughout the place since it has several rooms). You can order and pay at the counter where you say the table number and the food is brought to your table. It has a patio with tables and a typical English bus where you can take your drink. Reservations can also be made for private events. We went to try the meat pie and opted for an option for £25 where they give you 3 different types and you can choose it with mash or potatoes 🍟. We were there during the week and the truth is that it was full. It is worth a visit if you go to London.

Pub different from the classic English. If you can reserve a table better. The Old Bank of England is a historic pub located in the heart of London, on Fleet Street. The building was originally built in the mid-19th century and was the main headquarters of the Bank of England, designed by the famous architect Sir John Soane. It functioned as a branch of the bank from 1828 until 2008, when it was transformed into a pub. The pub retains much of its original splendor, with features such as ornate ceilings, elegant décor and an impressive bar area reminiscent of its banking origins. The architecture of the building is an excellent example of neoclassical design, with columns and intricate details giving it a majestic feel. Today, the Old Bank of England is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a variety of beers, wines and typical British food, as well as being a reminder of London's rich banking history. Its location on Fleet Street, historically known for its association with journalism, adds to its cultural relevance.

the service is horrible, when you walk in nobody tells you where to sit (we had a reservation) and after going to the bar and asking, we were sent to the „reserved seating area“ where we waited and again had to ask the bartender where we should sit, the waiters were wearing jogging pants and were very absent and unpolite. The food was okay but the portion was extremely small, eventhough it was called a „sharers“ , there were like 5 nacho chips ??only nice thing was the interior and overall look. Would not recommend, way better options in london

If you have to pick a handful of pubs to see, this is a must. The building alone will take you back in time. Spectacular chandeliers against the dark wood are almost ready for cinematography. The bar staff are great, and the kitchen has little snacks to full meals. It seems you can reserve tables. I didn't and found seating after 1 PM, yet I saw people waiting later. A glorious praise of artchitecture preserved by an incredible pub. The wonderful landmark of an independent, family brewery. This former Bank of England hall on Fleet Street is an honour to the past glory of decorative banking halls beyond wealth. The highly decoratively ornate lattice ceiling calls you in & boost beautifully modernised, scene enhancing great goblet chandeliers over a central square bar surrounded by a variety of padded, studded booths, high low seating. The balcony overlooks the hall with a grand wood & cast iron balustrade. Tastefully modern images of banking heritage decorate the alcove infills a height nestled amongst the decorative gold ceiling edges & pillar tops. Banking hall squared windows open out to Fleet Street. Smooth tunes lull a quiet, mixed London travel crowd of gem finders. The bar has a excellent draught selection & stylishly complements the elegant atmosphere of serious high architectural beauty. A superb example of how pub is synonymous & a contributing continuance of historical societal & architectural legacy.

Food was good, no problems getting a table, no table service though. Other half’s fish and chips was a bit dry but she’s happy, my steak was great. I didn’t care for the bus stuff, clever tourist trap which will pull in the kids. Pub is stunning though. Can’t knock prices either. It is rare for our reviewers to score low, as we choose venues with high potential, however our reviewers left without ordering after very poor service. They have scored fairly and without bias, but note that they did not sample a drink, or any food. We should add that the pub has wonderful high ceilings, is very historic, but for some reason, it felt poorly heated, on a cold autumnal day, when a warm, snug pub would have been just the ticket. On Saturday 08-Nov, our reviewers sought out this pub at around 5pm after a West End Matinée. The pub was very quiet, but our reviewers stood at the bar unattended for over ten minutes. There were several bar staff who seemed strangely busy at a quiet bar, but they did not make eye contact or suggest they would be a moment. A professional barperson has a good idea who is next, but whilst waiting, another couple arrived, stood a couple of metres away and got served... they were just in the right place at the right time. After a while, our reviewers spoke to one bar person, who seemed to be passing through rather than serving, asked for help, but after another five minutes, no help arrived, and so our reviewers quietly left. (They chose the busier Blackfriar, a five minute walk away, and got served almost immediately). We do not rate the customer service training at McMullen's pubs, but hats off to Nicholson's and the Blackfriar, who not only looked after our reviewers at the bar, but cooked a delicious meal with excellent waitress service.

What made the Old Bank of England fascinating was the history of the building and the very spaces you dine in. The typical fish and chips were on the menu, but what's more fascinating is the fact that its located between Sweeney Todd's barber shop and Mrs Lovett's pie shop! So our area was decorated like the barber shop of Sweeney Todd. Make sure to ask questions and look around as you eat. There's a lot going on around you that you might otherwise miss.
