We popped in during our exercise walk after seeing this place was open and we’re glad we did. I bought a whole meal loaf that is the best bread I’ve had in years. A lovely crunchy crust and delicious soft bread inside. Highly recommended, we’ll be back now we know about it.

A tiny shopfront with a fine bakery and very welcoming cafe. The produce is beyond excellent, and service is always cheerful. Parking nearby is limited in this narrow street, but there is a small car park for the Priory church and no-one seems to mind this being used when no service is in progress. Note that this is in Deeping St James, not Market Deeping. The various Deeping villages are more or less contigous, but jealously guard their individual identities.

This a good little home made bakery which these days are few and far between. Highly recommend the rolls bread and good selection of cakes. Dont forget the cornish pasties and sausage rolls. Little gem in a nice village.

Husband bought 4 Eccles cakes early on a Sat morning we gave two to our neighbours felt so embarrassed they were inedible and rock hard. Either left to long in oven or yesterday's stock. Won't be going again

I love going into this bakery, though being on a diet makes it a bit difficult. The owner is very talented not only as an artisan baker but also as an artist. He bakes "flavoured" breads on Saturdays and his hot cross buns are the best I've ever tasted!!

We shop regularly at the Old Bakery and the bread and the cakes are just amazing. All are baked in a old Victorian coal fired oven; this has been a bakery for over a century, The owner is not interested in mass producing food to maximise profits; all he wants to do is bake the best bread and the best hot-cross buns (available all year but you queue on Good Friday round the block) the best scones, etc. At certain times of the year he will use fresh produce to bake unusual breads and he is always trying something different. At some point he will retire (not for another 20 years or so looking at him) but we already fear for what will happen to this gem of a shop when he does hang up him apron. I know that this review is under the heading of "restaurants" and (in truth) we have never eaten here but judging from the number of customers that we have seen who stop and have take-away sandwiches (usually with a cake) they also seem to appreciate the charm of this place that is gloriously stuck in a time bubble which we hope will not burst for years to come.

A lovely little bakery, tucked away in Deeping St James. Fresh bread is baked daily, and the homemade traditional buns and doughnuts are some of the best I have tasted. Clive is a local who owns and runs the business, and is always very friendly and welcoming.

Went into the bakery to buy some cakes. As I entered the shop a man behind the counter ignored me and went out to the back. A woman came into serve me. There were four belgian buns on a plate in the top of the counter and I asked for three of them. She started to put them in a bag and a mans voice called out, 'no, they are for display only'. He didn't come out to explain. I said what is wrong without them. The woman just shrugged. The Man didn't appear. There was nothing else I wanted so I left. The selection of cakes left was very limited and all high in sugar. I am so annoyed at this rude inexplicable behaviour I am posting this negative review. It is a difficult place to park safely and I certainly won't take the time to park up and try the shop again. Tip for the owner. Don't walk away from customers when they enter your shop and if you are going to refuse service, give a proper explanation.

Best eggs Florentine ever. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked, husbands English breakfast was piping hot with great quality sausage. Nicely done.

Great little pub, with excellent food. The 6ft Chef is amazing, although he did bore us slightly with stories of his darts and pool prowess. Staff amazing also. Landlady is exceptional, just has a slight dictator vibe. Would highly recommend and will 100% come again. Weekend drinks are also meant to be a fun and social evening.

Lovely beer garden, great place to meet with friends for a drink. Although pretty expensive. However, you pay for the atmosphere aswell. Can go winter and summer and sit outside as they have heaters!

Excellent food, friendly staff. Couldn't help us enough, there was a mixture of us from my mother to my granddaughter and made sure we got everything we needed.

There’s an argument that you shouldn’t recommend good place as next time you come there are no free tables. Saying that the bacon sandwich was the best I have had in a long time and the pancakes fresh and cooked to perfection. We’ll be back!
