The Old Abbey is our local no more. Unfortunately it has been stripped bare of any of it's old character and sold it soul to become a venue rather than a pub. Catering more for student parties. Ask for a whisky and all they can offer is Jack Daniel's or Tennessee. Not even a token Scotch or Irish. They used to have a good balance between pub and venue and as a local you felt welcome. I know that they cannot only cater for locals but believe they are struggling to survive with the direction they have taken. So sad.

A very unique hidden spot! The only thing to say is go visit it and experience it for yourself, especially when there is an event on!

Made the effort to walk out of town for this place, as apparently CAmRA pub of the year. The beer I had was nice enough, although nothing special. Quite expensive. There was a small group of self-facilitating media nodes, who left shortly after I entered leaving me as the only customer there. Two minutes later the music, which was okay, was turned off. At the end of my stay I went for a slash, and for some reason the bartender felt the need to come and watch me. Probably won’t be rushing back. (Edit 30/09/23) So I did go back, and preferred it the second time around. They had run out of the beer I wanted though, and the one I did drink was pretty bland. Still, upping my original two stars to four, as at least the barmaid was friendly this time, and apparently they do some of work for the community.

Love this pub, and it’s only made better by the quiet neighbours. Visit!

i love coming to the old abbey: good food, lovely bar staff (special mention to the person behind the bar who let me have a rollie), and great prices for all goods provided. the events they put on are always cracking and they're very community driven which i really appreciate :)

A wonderful venue, with a stage in the beer garden. The food is phenomenal and inexpensive, with plenty of choice for veggies and vegans. The staff are very friendly. They have a great selection of beers and ciders, including IPAs

Great pub in the middle of a semi industrial park with numerous business you wouldn't know it was there! Has great music nights on frequently.they serve pub food eg burgers and chips reasonable priced but do check out their nights as really worth attending

Everything about this please is great, good staff, good food, great music. But PLEASE update your opening times. We came with family because it says on the website and Google it opens at 2. Says its open at 3 on Facebook and 5 on Instagram. So it's hard to know when to come!

If in need of a good thursday night out and get rid of some stress and need a good dance this is the place to be drum and bass TOP djs good beer nice staff I have bein going nearly ever Thursday and try to go Fridays and Saturdays but there is only so much dancing you can do LOL but check coz some Fridays and Saturdays might have private partys so just check but some times dont and the bouncer is a good guy cant say anymore apart from get your self down and see for yourself and meet new friends coz I have

Delicious cold and wet alcoholic beer which in the end made me rather drunk so I had to return home to lie down.

Grubby place, ignorant staff and no lager! 😖 wrong customer you answered! I didn’t go in til Sunday night 23 rd October! So check who you are being rude to ! I guess you got it wrong! . Staff accusing customers of not paying and couldn’t be arsed serving us waiting ! I was hoping for a nice local pub, sadly disappointed ☹️

We came to the pub with a big group to celebrate my sons birthday unfortunately there was a miscommunication about a private area for us, however Rachele (who was really busy with a poetry event) managed to find us area. Pizzas we’re delicious, great music with live Dj and rappers and then a dub sound system. Place has really quirky , cool vibe. A bit off the beaten track but fantastic community social feel . Definitely worth a visit.

I experienced and took part in one of the best jams of my life, with some tight musicians and the most friendly and awesome people, staff and management you could ever imagine. The brownies and cakes are ridiculously good, the pizzas have a reputation that proceeds them and it all makes my mouth water. I can't even express with words alone how good this place is for meetings, socialising, events, food, music and more. All the good things!

Great pub. Excellent selection of rums, really great, knowledgeable staff. nice vibes, loads of outdoor seating under shelters and good tunes. Highly recommended.

The outdoor part is lovely! Such a good venue with an awesome atmosphere - saw an event by stepladder records there and had amazing fun. Bar staff are super friendly and helpful and there’s a good range of drinks - some stuff on taps a bit pricey though.

Loads of pizzas on the menu but none available when we visited. Service was very slow for remaining food, all came out at different times

The wonderful staff treated my friends and I to a wonderful Sunday lunch and also I'd like to mention the chef (Reece) is rather beautiful 😍

This is an absolute gem of a pub, food is spectacular and the people are amazing. The vegan options are fantastic, but there's plenty for non-vegans too.

What a great little bijou bar in the middle of the science park! Characterful and comfy. Nice selection of beers and drinks, good food served, decent coffee machine etc. well worth nipping in.

Seems like a decent place. But if u have mobility problems like I do. Not for u. Steps at entrance very difficult to use. Beer garden is old style Victorian cobblestones. Not much space for movement with my wheeled walking aid.

Vinyl Tap every Tuesday, various DJs, some famous, some not-famous-yet, great food and amazing vibes, friendliest staff and lovely happy people. Extra points for the profi coffee machine and the Vegan Burger. Will definitely be coming back xx

Great place. My favourite pub in the whole of Manchester!! Independent, does so much for the local community! Live djs, bass, jazz, poetry, quiz nights, amazing outdoor space, great ales, fabulous pizzas and brilliant people.

Draft beer wasn't good. Nearly flat. When I went back I ask for a different pint and said the last one was nearly flat. Got told if that was flat your next pint will be they all run on the same gas. Very poor service, they haven't a clue about beer or how to speak to a customer. Been loads of times with friends and it's hit and miss what you get with service/drinks/food. I've had far better pints a lot cheaper. Your unhelpful staff just lost business from me and my friends.

Certainly quirky with a lively outside area BUT unfortunately the service was poor, cold burger too which we waited 45 minutes for. Like a lot of places now, very expensive and it's in the middle of a trading estate, well I think it might be a science park. My beer was good though.

Wonderful pub with a very happy and relaxed vibe. The food is of great quality and doesn't forget about the vegetarians with their good veggie/vegan options! The friendly staff are the cherry on top to a pleasant visit, whether for food or drinks.

I visited this pub for the very first time this evening with an old friend. This was the second time that I have socialised with anyone in over six months, mainly because of the lockdown and also because I have been identified as 'extremely vulnerable' because of my underlying health issues, and a bit scared to go out. I was a bit nervous about coming out but felt really safe in the space and I really loved the whole community feel of the place. A special thank you to all the staff who were really warm, friendly and helpful.

Mi hermana y yo fuimos a cenar a esta fabulosa joya de lugar. Es como un pequeño mundo propio. Ambiente encantador! ¡Espacio exterior encantador! ¡La mejor hamburguesa de pollo iv que he tenido en casa! Y servido únicamente en cajas. Nos fuimos temprano con pesar ya que todas las mesas estaban reservadas para la noche, ¡pero sin duda volveremos para salir por la noche!

This place is amazing. One of the best pubs in Manchester for banging food at reasonable prices, great pints, exciting events and an unmatched sense of community. This is not your typical pub. People carry out wonderful projects to work with and benefit the local communities. It feels good to be there no matter who you're with.

We've lived five minutes away from this place for seven years (and been at uni around the corner for three years before that) but have somehow never heard of this place. The only reason we came across it is through a Facebook post about their e-bike sadly being stolen, which they were using for deliveries and community support work. As the owner of a socially conscious cargo bike-powered business myself, my interest was immediately piqued! Then I investigated further and found that this place does fantastic burgers and pizzas, with the best selection of beer you'll find for miles around. They had opened the beer garden following the easing of covid restrictions, but were also doing deliveries and pick-up. My wife and I ordered a cheeseburger, pollo e pepe pizza and portion of chips to share, as well as a two-pint jug of fresh draught IPA. The food and beer was excellent, but what really impressed me was the friendly vibe of this place, that somehow has been hiding in plain sight since we came to Manchester.

Hemos vivido a cinco minutos de este lugar durante siete años (y hemos estado en la universidad a la vuelta de la esquina durante tres años antes de eso) pero de alguna manera nunca hemos oído hablar de este lugar. La única razón por la que lo encontramos es a través de una publicación en Facebook sobre el lamentable robo de su bicicleta eléctrica, que estaban usando para entregas y trabajo de apoyo comunitario. Como propietario de un negocio impulsado por una bicicleta de carga con conciencia social, ¡mi interés se despertó de inmediato! Luego investigué más y descubrí que este lugar ofrece hamburguesas y pizzas fantásticas, con la mejor selección de cerveza que encontrarás en kilómetros a la redonda. Habían abierto la cervecería al aire libre tras la flexibilización de las restricciones de covid, pero también estaban haciendo entregas y recogidas. Mi esposa y yo pedimos una hamburguesa con queso, pizza de pollo e pepe y una porción de papas fritas para compartir, así como una jarra de dos litros de IPA de barril fresco. La comida y la cerveza eran excelentes, pero lo que realmente me impresionó fue el ambiente amistoso de este lugar, que de alguna manera se ha estado escondiendo a la vista desde que llegamos a Manchester.

Hi went there for lunch and bought two five pounds sandwich which were a little light on filling and to be frank seemed small / they are friendly and the cocktails are in small plastic cups and again not great value / overall not great value tbh but it's a nice spot
