The Oggy Oggy Pasty Cafe and takeaway in Taunton Deane

Deborah, Jeremy and the whole Oggy Oggy team go above and beyond what you would expect from a pasty shop. When we are in Taunton, we always stop of at Oggy Oggy for a delicious pasty; the staff are so friendly and their baking is divine. Their giant steak pasty had been officially rated best in the world, by my ten year old daughter. Since lockdown, Deborah and Jeremy have been delivering fresh baked and frozen pasties far and wide....thinking this would be a fabulous surprise for my daughter's birthday, we gave them a call. They did not disappoint. A mixture of fresh baked and frozen pasties delivered to our door at lunchtime? That is what dreams are made of and was an amazing surprise for my little princess, who was absolutely overjoyed. A massive thank you to you all, for keeping on going, even now.

Visited on many occasions, great food and great service plus gluten free options. Quite a small seating area but have never waited long for a seat.

I gave Oggy Oggy a try today from a recommendation of a fellow slimming world friend. I had a bbq chicken jacket potato with salad and mum had beans and cheese jacket with salad. Absolutely amazing! Soo filling and syn free, they even weigh out the cheese to make sure it is your HeA. Everything was soo tasty and the salad filled half the plate. Would highly recommend trying here to anyone 😊. First visit as I thought I'd support a small business rather than Costa next door. Ordered a sausage sandwich for my son. They were very light on the ketchup so I very politely asked if I could have a tad more. I was refused and told to buy a sachet. Grumpy, horrible service can't be good for business.

We visited the cafe for a quick breakfast.. We always try to support local small businesses, My husband ordered big breakfast, I ordered bacon bap with fried egg, My bap was cold, bacon was stone hard and chewy egg was not fried but oven cooked, When we are asked we politely said what we thought we just received "ohh" as an answer.. It's bit that hard to fry bacon and egg... Overall awful experience

We move to Somerset about two years ago and often have a bit of lunch when we go shopping in Taunton. Having walked past this place loads of time with it tucked between McDonalds and Costa we decided to try it for lunch today, what a find. Good honest FRESHLY COOKED food and a very reasonable price, its moved to number 1 on our lunch list from now on. :-))

3:20pm on a Saturday, 3 days before Christmas. Gentleman behind the till was lovely and took our order. Grumpy woman colleague appeared moaning about getting away on time. She wasn’t happy about him taking a food order with only 40 minutes to closing (that’s ages for a cafe and we didn’t see a problem. We were made to feel so uncomfortable that we took our business elsewhere. How this place doesn’t have any 1 star ratings yet is beyond me as it was so worn-out and unwelcoming. Finally at £12.50 for 2 pasties and 2 drinks (no sides) it’s also a rip off so we won’t be coming back.

Freshly cooked breakfast & HOT coffee. Nice clean white tables. Not a lot of room between each table but ok. Staff very nice

This shop sells great pasties. Unfortunately it consistently sells out of traditional, beef pasties, too early in the day.

I came in for lunch and loved it. The owners were friendly and chatty. The pasties were lovely. Definitely worth a second visit (only here for two days so no third visit)!

I went in to oggy oggy with some friends and the food was amazing and their homemade quiche was just the best and their homemade bread pudding was the best i have tasted and staff are friendly. I will definitely come back again.

Simply does not justify going back again as their Pasty no different or even worth than what you can buy from Tesco or any supermarket. At least better than the one you purchase from Petrol station.

Stopped here for a late lunch on a freezing wet miserable day whilst visiting relatives in the area, all I can say is we are so glad we didn't bother with all the other "well known" cafes and takeaways in the immediate area! We ordered 3 pasties including beef and stilton, traditional and vegetable which were all lovely and tasty. We also had the tomato soup which was as good as home made. All the food was hot, fresh and served quickly by very friendly staff. Next time we are in Taunton it will be the first place we head to and hope to try one of the delicious looking cakes too!

Always go here as much as possible for the best tasting pasties in town, when I am allowed to go in town !

my husband and I went here fore lunch a couple of weeks ago , was very impressed , the food was lovely very reasonable , and staff very friendly ,would definitely go there again , I recommend the ploughmans lunch was lovely

The pasties here are very good even if they are bought in frozen and then cooked.

Great hot fresh cooked food, excellent breakfast and Cornish pasties. Very friendly staff, all on a wet Monday morning before 9am!!!!!

great choice of food but I was here to have a traditional pasty and it was great, lovely pastry and plenty of filling, the staff were excellent as well definitely recommend this little Gem

Walking up the high street in Taunton we came across this lovely little cafe in between two major fast food outlets. We had the traditional Cornish pasty, beef and Stilton pasty and two lemon yum Yum's all were beautiful. The pot of tea was enough for four people. If ever I'm. Ack in Taunton I'll definitely call in.

We had lunch here and were really delighted with the amount to choose from, especially the vegetarian selection. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was lovely and arrived quickly. I would highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat.

Very tasty pasty. Nothing though beats the Gingerbread men.. they are deeelicious and a weekly treat. I must try other things but I see them and that's it.. not experienced the cafe but it always busy and food always looks tasty when I pop in for the takeaway

Sat down waitress walked off to help 3 other servers behind counter!!!!

I we visited Oggy Oggy yesterday with two very hungry and tearful kids. The place was busy (not surprisingly as it was Saturday lunch time) but staff was ever so understanding and helpful! Service was quick and the food was very good value for money too. Deborah, thanks for making us feel so welcome.

The reviews are very very complimentary on Oggy Oggy....but two thoughts: it's not "hidden away on the main street". It's in a prime position in a run of cafes. The second thing is salt: I had a sausage roll from Oggy Oggy - not the scale of experience of most other reviewers - and it contained an industrial quantity of salt! So if TripAdvisor reviews are to mean anything, this one comes with a health warning.....

Pasty heaven, 18 types of pasty all available, and not expensive. Several types of pastry as well.

My first visit to Taunton and it was a lovely experience but to round the day off we stopped off for a drink and a light bit to eat and if you get a chance please go here as the service was very good and so was the food we were not rushed and the establishment was clean and tidy and warm can't ask for anything better lots of choice on the menu

Stopped here for lunch on the hunt for soup. The menu looked reasonable and appealing, so in we went.

Sat in here with her indoors and had 2 pasties, tea and chocolate fudge cake. Everything was excellent, served by a very polite and courteous guy. Highly recommended!

looking for a meal and a coffee settled for Costa as a second best, later on the way back we found the Oggy Oggy, small maybe but a great pot of tea fresh baked pasty and better still great staff friendly and helpful.

Didn't use the cafe but the shop. One of only a couple of places that do gluten free pasties. Steak or cheese & onion. They look like ordinary pasties and the cheese and onion are delicious. Highly recommended. When I visit Taunton next this will be on my stop list. Plus the guy serving was easy on the eye too :)

I go here quite a lot, and always have the full English, which comes with a pot of tea for a fiver.Bargin, lovely freshly cooked, Lovely staff. Only downside café isn't bigger enough & tables are a little small for 2 people.

Excellent food and fast quick service. Shop was very clean and tidy and the staff were very helpful and polite. We will be back.

This is not a large cafe and is hidden away down the main street almost opposite Wetherspoons.

If you are looking for good hearty pasty to fill you up in Taunton then Oggy Oggy is the place for you,

The pasties here are just like my mother used to make. They consist of potato, minced steak, turnip, onion, salt and pepper. Thankfully there are no peas or carrots. Great snack

Great service provided for take-out or eat-in. Staff are fantastic. Busy, busy, busy with food prep, cooking and service BUT Hospitality is still there for All Customers. They really seem to know and enjoy their business - to feed people!
