Live locally and have not been in for a while not sure why as they keep a cracking pint of HPA - always a really good pint. Went to celebrate son finishing school and had a truly superb lunch. Prawns tempura, scotch egg and halloumi bites to start and all were truly outstanding and great to share between us. Each of us had a really tasty main course, two had burgers and one the Thai green curry with chicken. All of the food we have was really quite excellent and we will be going back. Service was excellent and very friednly too.

We've been here many times and always had good food service and all. Today was all but - and very glad we left early. A Fathers day lunch, OK, and families enjoying but we were ushered to a table up on the top deck in the corner and had to contend with a party of 10 with noisy kids. We had to shout to be heard. NOT GOOD!! Yes, people want to gather, not a problem, but for goodness sake why don't the pub keep that 'top deck' for a party gathering only? I very nearly walked out, but as our daughter had arranged it and was a treat, I had to bite the bullet. Service was fine, but the pork was tasteless, and as for the crackling - no go - absolutely none as you couldn't cut it! It was a seriously bad choice, and in future I will ask how the meat is served as I prefer slices not a chunk of stringy meat. In all, we were very pleased to leave.

Graham Priestley 5/5 20 hours ago on Google Just spent the coronation weekend in the area and can't recommend this pub highly enough. We had our breakfasts here and a Sunday roast. The food is superb all locally sourced and they get their sausages done to their own recipe by a butcher. They are delicious . The quality is very high and very good value for the price. The staff and landlady are very friendly and helpful. If your ever in the area then I highly recommend it. They also serve the breakfast in a tea room called the twisted spoon which is adjacent to the pub if you'd rather eat in a cafe environment than the pub.

It can be lovely but here and then not very good so not sure if different chefs working I’m vegan so hardly anything so have to go vegetarian for that day but even then not much choice . I appreciate it’s a steakhouse but other steakhouses have vegan and vegetarian offers . The one week we came I had a lovely Thai curry but the following week it seemed like just a tin of chic peas in a coconut sauce with rice shoved on the side . Another week we came as live nearby and it’s a nice atmosphere the owner seems nice and a hard worker . Pitches in with the young bar staff . I asked for veggie roast And my partner had meat roast . He was pleased with his but mine consisted of just vegetables . To be fair they said I couldn’t have roast potatoes as done in goose fat . They forgot my veggie gravy I waited about 7 minutes for it . It is a nice place and relaxing atmosphere but would be nice if catered for more vegan and vegetarian.

We actually came for the Twisted Spoon but they were full so they offered us a table in the pub which takes up most of the building. It's table service in the pub, which is great. We had iced coffee and ice cream so didn't see the pub menu. But service was good, and cake on offer looked great. There are outside tables and the occasional chicken wandering through the garden. There are 2 steps from the main entrance up to the pub and toilets but the café part is via a slope. Pub was pretty cool considering how hot it was.

We stayed here in our motorhome having struggled to find somewhere to eat on a Monday night, and happened upon their Steak Night. The staff were ever so welcoming, and efficient, and having been in the trade ourselves for the last 20 years we know how hard it is. The food was lovely and we’d really recommend this lovely village pub

The food here is fabulous. The place is only let down by the service. My 3 stars are for the chef and their team in the kitchen. We had a seafood platter to start which had some amazing tastes. The best thing on that platter being the smoked mackerel pate. For mains I had the lamb burger with goats cheese and my husband had the pie of the day (chicken and tarragon) - both bursting with flavour and beautifully cooked. All the food eaten was excellent value for money. The decor here is quirky - love the bottle covered ceiling. Seating is nicely arranged. This place should be getting 5 stars every time if it were not for the staff serving. Numerous times we had to try and get the attention of the numerous young ladies serving. They were so busy chatting that we would have to go to the bar to pay as none of them were looking up to notice numerous people putting their hands up to get service. The room too was getting quite cold before we left. I thought it was the large gap under the fire exit near our table, but it would turn out to be the door to the beer garden that was wide open that was making everyone near it put on their coats (luckily we were sat quite a way from it). If the staff had been paying attention they would surely have closed the door. Some staff training would go a long way in this restaurant. I’m sure ourselves and others would have spent a lot more on drinks and food if we’d been able to get served and had the place been warm enough with the simple closure of a door.

We popped into this pub for lunch having unsuccessfully tried to get lunch at another place in the next village. The Oak steakhouse, like the previous place we tried, has an additional, separately branded eatery which, at the Oak, is called the Twisted Spoon. However, unlike the previous place, you have access to both the Oak's Steakhouse menu and The Twisted Spoon's menu wherever you sit - which is really good. The food was was very tasty and served quickly by a nice friendly waitress. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday lunchtime in March One panini, one sandwich, two portions of chips, a soft drink and a large glass of white wine - £25.15

By far the best burger I’ve ever had! The pie and the Haddock ‘’Monte Carlo” were also gorgeous! I highly recommend adding the spiced pork to your burger, and it was also lovely to have sweet potato fries that were actually crispy, not soggy like in so many other places! y husband and I had lunch today at The Oak. We realise in these trying times restaurants and pubs etc are having a hard time but that does not excuse serving poor quality food. I had the stuffed mushroom to start with my husband had the scotch egg. The starters turned up on a small plate with no garnish to make them even look appetizing the scotch egg was really small although it had a runny yolk with it was an attempt at a bloody mary drink( in a small glass) I felt sorry for my mushroom it looked really lonely on the plate I didnt particularly want to eat it but we had waited a while so I took the plunge and I will leave it at that. Next course we both had the lemon chicken burgers with chips ( chips were cooked in the oven) and that is precisely what we got no garnish presentation of food for me is important as you do eat with your eyes. If I had been lunching at a local cafe or service station I wouldnt have expected anything else but we were not...this is suppose to be a reasonably good restaurant. I did mention this to the waitress when she cleared our plates and she said she would inform the kitchen. We then asked for the bill my husband didnt look to happy then he showed me the bill when we got outside £39.40p which included 2 drinks of lime and soda. The starters themselves came to £13.45 which is why I am writing this review because no way they were worth it I wish I had taken a photo for people to have seen. I am not trying to wangle any freebies of this I am saying to the owners please please realise I know in these times you are struggling but so I am and my husband to do not have money to throw away on a lunch that was equal to local cafe.

What a disappointment. Food was average at best and looked nothing like all those lovely photographs on here. Couldn't taste the pie. The pastry was flavourless and it was covered in Booker's instant gravy (completely tasteless and more akin to a fish and chip shop). The other dish just tasted of paprika. No satisfaction check from staff during the meal either, just really basic.Gent's toilet hadn't been cleaned for a while. The bin was overflowing with tissues and pieces of toilet paper on the floor in various cubicles.Great place and pleasant atmosphere but the food was a real let-down as have been coming here for since it was the French Horn and this pub has served much better food before.

This is one of our local pubs and we visited for the first time for awhile after becoming disillusioned with the place! New managers...fresh start??? We had starters x 3, mains x 4 and 2 rounds of drinks = £95!!! (We managed to get one round of drinks on “happy hour” too!) Fish and chips were nice but poor portion of chips(children on next table had a bigger portion of chips on their plates and they had the children’s portion!) I had jerk chicken which was tasty but came with a very poor looking salad and sweet potato fries...not £13:50 worth of loveliness! I also agree with previous comments, the waiter with the long hair and accompanying beard surely must be required to have it “netted”. A lot of work needed to bring this pub up to the standards required for the prices they are charging!

I am what you could say is very fussy. Having eaten in some of the most acclaimed restaurants in the world on business, I am not impressed easily. The Oak however was so outstanding that I felt I had to leave a review. I was with my sister, brother in law and husband on 30th December and as we also had our dog with us, they suggested we went there. (We actually live around 70 miles away and do not know the area). The decor provided a nice ambience and we were attended to straight away by a lovely waiter called James. He prepared a champagne cocktail for me and he was very attentive with out being over bearing. Although there were several dishes I fancied, my sister spotted a girl behind us eating something that looked appealing and on asking, we found out it was chicken rissotto. Both of us ordered iand with out doubt, it is the best risotto I have ever tasted. All of our food was excellent and I liked it so much, we are making the trek over on 6th January for my birthday treat. If you are looking for something different, try this pub!

Easy booking process. Well organised staff who take orders at table still ( which is a bonus these days). We went on 'Pudding Night' good variety of main meals on the set menu including a vegetarian option, with unlimited visits to the sweet buffet. Good range of varied sweets/ desserts of sensible portions. We have in the past eaten dishes off the main menu, which has a very wide range of starters and mains, these have also been good sized portions of freshly prepared and cooked meals. Waiting times between courses are reasonable and you are not rushed in order to make room for further diners. We feel that the prices are reasonable, the service is great you are well looked after. You also have the opportunity to provide written feedback on the sweet/ dessert menu. The setting is relaxed with a variety of seating arrangements. There is ample parking on the carpark.

My father regularly pops in here for a late brunch, or light lunch, and as soon as he walked in the waitress knew his order - which is always something off the menu but with some alterations to his tastes. Seeing how he was treated impressed me - good service goes a long way in my book. It's hard for me to review the food, as the two times we went over the weekend, I only had a scoop of ice cream on the Sunday and a coffee on the Tuesday - but the fact my dad keeps returning is a good enough compliment. It's an unusual set up as you enter the main door. To the right is a beautifully decorated cafe, done in a fresh palate of white, pinks and blues - with a great feature wall covered in china cups. They seem to offer an array of cakes, snacks, afternoon tea service, as well as breakfasts. To the left is the pub which has featured nights like fish and chips, all you can eat puddings etc. Standard pub grub at reasonable prices.

Drinks and food orders still taken at your table which is a bonus, as you don't have to fight your way through the local throng sat at the bar.Service is still a bit on the slow side, with a long gap between courses. My two guests said that the "TuscanTuna" was excellent. My 10oz Gammon steak with a large a mushroom, half a tomato and the smallest Pineapple ring i've ever encountered, that was about the size of a Lemon slice, with what were-- according to the menu, supposed to be "Triple Cooked Chips In Beef Dripping" were ordinary chunky chips that were soft and squashy, and looked as if they had been boiled rather than fried. Please - comply with the printed menu.Chips were a big disappointment, otherwise an average pub meal experience. We booked a meal at The Oak Upton Snodsbury on May 30th. On arrival and approaching a female staff member, she just said abruptly "your table is over there". After six or seven minutes, a party of four arrived and she proceeded to serve them with drinks. Then a party of two, then an individual on his own. After nearly fifteen minutes, we asked "are there no other waiters on duty "? At which she answered "it's me, I'm just coming". She said our wait and lack of service " did not matter" which she repeated twice. The disappointing part of this experience is that we've been to this restaurant at the Oak on many occasions and had very good service and quality food. We feel that operatives such as this person with a very bad attitude on the day, can help to destroy businesses and we feel the owner of this business is totally unaware of this person's very bad attitude and approaches , they should not be in this position as she projected the feeling that she just did not want to be there and so at that we left the restaurant . Very sad because we liked the Oak until we had this experience

I had duck and the sauce/jus was all over the side and underside of the plate so it didn't feel like much care had been taken. All in all it was ok for the price and was convenient, but would not recommend for a special occasion.

A (not so) family dog friendly pub that allows aggressive dogs off the lead in the bar with a small number of locals who encourage and support the aggressive dog behaviour and staff who fail to act and ensure the safety of the customers. We have been to this pub on many occasions as it is a dog friendly pub and the food has always been excellent. However what happened on Monday evening the 8th May left us appalled. There was a man in the pub with 2 big dogs, they were not on leads but were joined by collars together. The first thing the chap did was put them in the beer garden unsupervised and on their own, he then brought them back in the pub at the bar. When we went to go past them they turned aggressive and tried to attack us, my assumption is that it was our small dog on a lead that they were after. Luckily the man restrained them even though the dogs appeared to try and bite each other. Some of the bar staff and diners were shocked and unhappy at this, the man even let go of the dogs and they were not on a lead. He seemed to find it amusing and the table next to him the other man made fun of the situation and even encouraged the behaviour, they were obviously locals who knew each other. On arriving home I telephoned the pub to complain to the manager and as advised that they were on holiday and i spoke to the assistant manager, I asked to make a formal complaint and for the names of the so called gentlemen, who were still there. No names were given to me and I wonder if this would have happened if the managers had been there

We had a family meeting here as we live Bristol and midlands and it's a convenient place to get together. We had been before but switched to the Boot inn down the road. We had decided to give the Oak another try. The problem is that the food is not consistent. In our group the starters of baked camembert and pates were very well received. When it came to the mains the fish and chips were good and my wife's liver and pancetta was excellent. My pie was not at all good the inside was dry and the pastry was thick and hard. I also suspect that the pie was microwaved and pastry doesn't like that in my opinion. All in all ok but not as good as in the past.

Went for Mother's Day meal and it was disappointing! Starters were small, main meals came out 5 mins apart more fat on lamb than meat, beef was excellent staff seemed unaware of what they should be doing, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, 2 courses for £20 I've had better quality for 1/2 the price

Booked an over night stop. Arrived very late as delayed on motorway. The staff very helpful, and the food was really rasty and the choice quite broad. Our room was very basic, and I feel that it could do with a little bit of tender love and care, but very clean. Possibly a drop of paint in places. The brakfast for me could do with being a little bigger, but still very tasty.

After an abortive attempt at having lunch at a place in Worcester we popped into the Oak on our way home. Lovely character this place has with its ceiling with hundreds of empty wine bottles suspended from it. The staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. We ate from the lunchtime light bites and we both ordered a Spanish Hash with chorizo which was so tasty.Got to come back for a 'full on' evening mealChilled atmosphere, the staff took all requests in their stride. Excellent!

When we walked into the Oak it was lovely and warm, the atmosphere was friendly and our pre meal drinks were served by a friendly barman and quickly too. The three of us had different main courses - one Game Pie, one Gammon and one Cod & Chips. All three were well presented and delicious. Three empty plates. We all had sweets, one ice cream, one Belgian waffle and one cheese & biscuits, again all well presented and nothing left! We had a lovely evening, the staff were very friendly and helpful, we will definitely be visiting again early in the New Year.

The young staff were very efficient, smartly turned out and friendly. The main man behind the bar was an object lesson in how to manage customer care. The pub serves 3 cask ales which are kept well. The indoor seating arrangements are laid out with diners in mind. Food was well cooked and the fixed menu offered plenty of choices, A decent enough wine list was on offer. Our room was a little tired and those at the back would be quieter than at the front. The only noise to filter through to our room was the house gander who would be well advised not to advertise his presence this close to Christmas!.

Met friends at The Oak for a pre Christmas catch up, we all chose from the Sunday specials. We all had the most enjoyable roast dinners we have had in a long time and can highly recommend the food and service. We spent a really enjoyable couple of hours afterwards in front of their log fires catching up over a glass of wine. Brilliant atmosphere, we cannot wait to return. Adjoining tea rooms were also very busy so recommend booking.

We had a family meal here and were absolutely delighted with our experience. The menu was interesting, offering good wholesome food with an imaginative twist. The meals are cooked to order and arrived at the table piping hot. The portions were just right, leaving room for the dessert, the only difficulty being making a decision from the very tempting 'pudding' menu. One of our number is a professional chef, so the fact that he thought the entire meal was very good indeed, and was very keen to visit The Oak again soon says it all really. The restaurant itself is cosy and welcoming, with a very interesting and unusual wine bottle ceiling, whilst roaring log fires complete the experience. We saw - but didn't sample - the stunning array of cakes that are offered for the 'Afternoon Tea' in the Twisted Spoon area, and promised ourselves a return trip to try that out too!

We pass this place most days when taking the children to school and have always seen plenty of cars park at all times of the day, so as we had managed to get a baby sitter and a night at the pictures we thought we would give it a try.It is obviously full of the locals, the minute we walked in there was an uncomfortable feeling that we were not one of them.We ordered a chicken pie and mash as it was pie week and a gammon steak, to be honest I wish we hadn't stopped, the pastry on the pie was soft and soggy and the steak was rubbery and fatty, to top it off my wife didn't feel very well shortly after leaving and was well for the rest of the evening. We may have had a one off set of circumstances, but the food did come out very quickly after ordering and we couldn't wait to leave.

This is an inexpensive stay, but I would have preferred to pay a little more to get an earlier breakfast. 7.30 and no discussion is too late generally and a bit lacking in customer service. Even 7.15 would have been acceptable. So on the button at 7.25 I'm sitting there and watching the young lady decant HP sauce from one bottle to another - I'm guessing to "tidy them up" but in catering you really shouldn't "top up". I felt less confident about my breakfast and this was confirmed when 5 minutes later the breakfast cook stuck his head out of the kitchen and was exasperated it would appear to see anyone there at 7.30am! At 7.30 I was asked what I would like and as I had time to choose went for the eggs with mushroom. Mushrooms (large flat) should be peeled, or they are tough and in this case tough as old boots. Service good enough but felt their timing was a bit pedantic and unwelcoming.

Our first time at The Oak, despite living within easy reach, but probably due in part to their title " Steakhouse and Grill". As a non-meat eater, I'd imagined there being little choice for me.However, the menu had a good choice of vegetarian and fish dishes, in addition to the steak and meats, all with interesting sides and servings. The meals were freshly prepared, hot and tasty, and generously sized. So much so, we weren't able to look at the dessert menu!A comfortable, cosy room with very friendly staff, we had a lovely evening.

We were welcomed to our stay by a very pleasant, helpful young lady, (mine hostess, I think) and showed to our room. Bijou, but very comfortable and clean. We went down for a pre meal drink and to take advantage of the happy hour prices. The meal was very good and we both had more than enough. (I was a tad disappointed with my minted mushy peas, I have to say, they weren't made from marrowfat, and were more like a not quite pureed garden pea - still, this is a minor point) The environment was lively and enjoyable, the staff were pleasant, helpful and diligent. Overall - a good experience, thank you

We booked this pub as it wasn't too far from where we were attending an afternoon family party at Hallow. They were very accommodating when we wanted the room early so we could leave our stuff and get changed ready for the party. The room we were in was small but ideal with a nice bathroom and shower over bath. Although our room was at the front of the Oak on the road, the traffic wasn't a problem and it was quiet from early in the evening. The actual pub/restaurant was excellent. They many staff were extremely helpful and pleasant in what was an extremely busy time. It was busy in the evening and I can see why, the food was excellent. Incorporated into the pub is a tea room section, where the breakfast is served in the morning too. It is a great idea and a lot of cyclists were beginning to pull in there as we left the next morning. Overall, great value for money and excellent service and food.

Tuesday is date night, when my husband and I ditch the kids and come out on our own. One of the pubs within a couple of miles is the Oak Steakhouse, but it's so much more than just steak. Try the homemade pie of the week, or the gammon, egg and chips, with home produced eggs! So very comfortable and welcoming, no fuss, just good food, decent wine and a good price!Lots of easy parking, and a garden if it's dry, and a sun deck for smokers,

After visiting the Twisted Spoon cafe for breakfast multiple times and only having great things to say, I took my parents and girlfriend along for lunch today. Two of our party ordered chicken pies, one ordered a panini, and I went with the all day breakfast due to enjoying it so much on previous trips. My dad's pie had NO chicken in it whatsoever, which is a shame because it was delicious otherwise. My partner and I ordered some chips as a side, which cost £2.00 (not outrageous at all) but were extremely disappointed to find that we had only 8 chips.... I raised the issue to a staff member halfway through our meal, to be told "you should have told us earlier". We also raised the no chicken in the pie issue and was told that the feedback was appreciated. This trip has put me off going there again other than for breakfast which is a real shame.

We loved this pub so much that we went back again the next night. Food was superb, staff were friendly and welcoming. The chips are homemade chunky chips and were superb. Desserts were also fab, I had a banoffee sundae, best ever. Would definitely recommend and look forward to going back next time I visit Worcester area. They also have an afternoon tea they serve in the twisted spoon which is another part of the pub. Would love to try that as we didn't get time this time round.

Just had amazing Sunday lunch. Home made steak pie was awesome, sausages really tasty, buttery mash and beautifully cooked veg. To top it off rich luxurious gravy, my husband would give 5 stars for that alone! Staff really lovely too. Well worth a visit but I would book as this menu is going to take off!!!

Excellent food and excellent service , Ales brewed on site , could not fault it in any way . A querky venue tastefully converted from an old railway station.
