Having had an awful meal at Chesford Grange the previous night (and unfortunately we were staying there instead of The Oak, but that is a different story!) four of us called in here for a meal. It certainly did not disappoint, we all loved our meal and was good value for money. We explained the 'booking a room' problem with manager John (which I won't go in to here) and he couldn't have been more helpful.

Came here with my mum on a Thursday night and managed to get a table. It was a lovely evening so I imagine there were a lot of diners outside. Friendly staff and with them being a dog friendly pub, it’s always nice to see a few dogs around. It is slightly more expensive than some places but the quality of the food shines through. Lovely experience and we must use it more.

Staff super helpful and efficient. My food was delicious. I stayed 2 nights with my dog. Could not have been better. Sure my bedroom needs a bit of repaintwork and the wet room fitments need a tad upgrading, but shower worked, bed comfortable and had a really great stay. Will definitely use again when next in the area. Cleaner Alison was so friendly and obliging. Would have stayed another night if I could have.

We stayed here over night to break up a long journey. The evening meal was fabulous, friendly staff, especially the manager , he made us and our dog feel very welcome. The breakfast was spot on and set us up for the rest of our journey. The accomodation was lovely, we could have easily stayed another night but had to be somewhere else on the Wednesday.

We booked to go here as we heard good reviews on the day we got a phone call to change our booking time as they were close early so we did on arrival we got there bit early to have a drink before we eaten when we went to the table we sat there thinking someone would take our order no one did as we never been here before you would think someone would come and say so my friend went to the bar to order to roast dinners to be told none left so went to order the pie to be told none left they didn’t even say that at time of trying to order what was left on the menu there was nothing else I wanted to be honest I think they were saying this to close earlier so we decided to leave and take our custom else where

Popped in for lunch with our very big dog, happened to mention that he didn’t like wooden floors and a bed suddenly appeared for him …. He settled and it meant we could enjoy our fabulous lunch …we though light bites would be idea and fill a hole ..WOW ….honestly I don’t think I’ll need anything else to eat for days Recommend… Chicken,bacon & Avocado sandwich & the Steak sandwich with onion,cheese sauce & gravy Lovely to have another place that we can all go , it’s not easy with an 8st boy ! Fantastic spot - very friendly and the duty manager was lots of fun. Very happy it is dog friendly, our puppy got to spend an evening out with us with his own meal and a hotel stay. Food very good - better than the frozen mass produced rubbish other pubs do. We had 3 courses and loved it, go for the pancetta pie! So good. Perfect portions. Best dessert menu ever! Yes this is a dog friendly pub, do your research and don’t moan when dogs are in there… We also stayed in the hotel, beautiful well decorated quiet room with a lovely room. A bargain to book too! We can’t wait to come back. Finally a place we can spend an evening out locally with our pup.

I have loved this place from check in to writing this review. The staff are fantastic but a big shout to the chef whose food is exceptional. The peppercorn sauce is the best I’ve ever had. This is how pubs should be. It’s how restaurants should be and it’s also how hotels should be. Thank you John!!

Great food and fast service! Sunday lunch comes with free top ups of roasties, gravy and Yorkshire puds, very impressed. And it’s yummy! My fish and chips were well cooked, fish nice a thick with crispy batter. Toilets clean and have been refreshed lately. Very friendly staff.

With the menu descriptions of food and prices we expected a decent meal. Food was poor. Tiny chicken and pancetta pie and a carrot and parsnip. Not good - £29 for 2 pints and poor meal. Won’t return.

Sadly, a disappointing experience, food was overpriced and underwhelming with a long wait time. No real welcome or ambiance, we weren't told about wait times or table checked. The staff member we flagged our concerns with did respond and offer a partial refund, which was appreciated. However it wasn't the experience we were hoping for.

We came here for dinner and ordered through the app. It took over 50 minutes for our food. A hunters chicken and steak and venison pie to arrive and we had to wait this time for the drinks too! The hunters chicken was swimming in overly sour bbq sauce and a “fake” nacho cheese. The chips and onion rings were okay but the peas were served in a little cup and were undercooked and swimming in the cup full of water. The pie was okay but the veg served with it was only half cooked. Large chunks of raw parsnip. The live music was awful and very off putting during the meal and although it was fairly quiet the service was so slow. The girl behind the bar was useless!

Booked this place as we were going to Stoneleigh and expected an evening meal. Quiet place and took the dog, no problems with the room. However upon arrival which was around 4pm we decided to book in & have a drink. There was no "welcome" or smile but a glower, booked in with the bar person and asked what time dinner would be served. She told us around 7pm would be fine as it would be quieter then. We came back at 7pm ordered a drink and asked where was best to sit for dinner. The bar persons then looked at us and said no dinner is served on a Sunday, nowhere on their site does this say so. They then blamed the person who booked us in, not a good idea to blame others to a customer, sort that out with the Manager or afterwards, there was no apology from them either, customer service and manners 0. We then went down the road for a chinese takeaway, but they only take cash and said to us, order online. We then drove around for 2 hours trying to find somewhere to eat, and eventually managed to get a takeaway near Coventry! The following morning the breakfast was served, a pitiful attempt cheap & nasty. The sausage was so dry & horrid, we could tell it had been reheated, the bacon was cheap and fatty streaky bacon, 1 small mushroom, really could they spare one, a tablespoon of bakebeans and tablespoon of scrambled egg, very over rated & not worth the £12 charge. We couldn't wait to book out and get away from the place, we will Never go back. As part of the journey we were looking into places for military enthusiasts to stay bringing business to the place. Will not be recommending this place. Also from the time we arrived we saw no Manager or owner checking on staff or customers, the same the following morning no one to speak to. My husband emailed the owners, but now over a week & no response, should I be surprised, no. A disinterested owner only leads to disinterested bad mannered staff, the place would be better suited to just being a B&B, perhaps they are overstretching themselves, start with a good breakfast first!!!!

Held my Dad's Wake here on 29 January and from the first phone call, the service was outstanding. Kam dealt with all our requests with kindness and professionalism. On the day everyiwas absolutely wonderful, and nothing was too much trouble. The House buffet was superb, with many guests commenting on the quality of the food. It was definitely not the usual "beige buffet" that is sometimes found at gatherings. A huge thankyou to all the staff for their hard work. Highly recommended

We arrived at The Oak and were looking forward to our meal. On entering the immediate impression was dogs everywhere. We were sat at a table with dogs roaming about under both our table and the next table. We asked to move and fair enough were seated in a dog free area. However it was noisy dogs barking all meal! We will not be going back even though the food was good.

Awful food. They do not have proper chefs or even cooks in this place the food is truly inedible just don't go. They charge restaurant prices at roughly £18 a main course for food that is microwaved to within an inch of it's life and thrown together with half the dishes veg missing by two teenage boys who appear to be on work experience and know nothing about food. We had a refund on both our meals with the manager explaining ...we have two very inexperienced young chefs who are learning on the job I'm afraid....brilliant! We saw them as they wander behind the bar between microwaving,they look about 15 and terrified! Our microwaved sprouts (yes sprouts because apparently broccoli as described on the menu is very difficult to get the manager explained?) arrived after we had finished ...we actually left it anyway because it was so awful even the waitress agreed it was awful.But who wants sprouts as an alternative to stemmed broccoli as per the menu??? just odd . Also it's very cold in there, there is a massive fireplace with a log burner in it but it wasn't lit which was a shame, why not? would make a massive difference to the atmosphere of the pub. The lights are super bright as in cafeteria bright. Needs proper chefs not children. The fire lit and the heating on. The lights dimmed . Just not good enough in any way.

Mussels cold, burger burnt, chicken stringy only 1 meal out of 7 was enjoyable, was offered another meal, but declined. How hard is it to serve hot food?

Absolute rip off, pigs in blankets 7 pounds , for 3 cocktail sausages. Roast potatoes were awful, undercooked.

Nice pub, highly recommend the house salad. The rooms are pleasant, warm and cosy. Nice hot shower with daily housekeeping. The best thing is the quiet. Peaceful after a stressful day.

We were very disappointed on this visit. We asked for a vegan meal, it came with vegetarian Brie on despite my daughter ordering and being very specific about it being vegan cheese that was required, the lettuce on the burger was black and discoloured and I found a hair on my chips. My daughter is vegan and wheat intolerant and the only option for her on the menu was nachos, these sadly were also disappointing. The toppings were pleasant but only covered a small amount of the nachos and most of the nachos were smashed and she was unable to pick the tiny pieces up to eat them. This is very sad as we have used this pub for many years but the past year have noticed a severe decline in standards. I expressed my disappointment to the waiter who I saw feedback to the manager but was not approached by her I had no apology from them. I am very sad to say I shall not be returning to the oak in Baginton again.

Lovely stay. Welcomed by host very friendly. Room on arrival had been freshly painted so asked to move. Which was done with no quibble. They clearly are working at updating the rooms. Our room was lovely warm. Clean and comfortable. Value for money. Well done to all the lovely staff there. Breakfast very nice too. Will be back

I have been coming to the Baginton Oak for many years, due to the fact they allow dogs and it's a nice atmosphere. However the menu was very disappointing. Our table was pre-booked for early evening on a Saturday, most of the items on the menu were unavailable. What we did have was ok but not worth what we paid. We were still hungry afterwards. Service wasn't that brilliant either.

Lovely place, food is great and hotel too. Love the fact that you can bring dogs to your stay as well. Very quiet area and plenty of parking.

Mel planned and managed our event for 45. Her customer care was excellent start to finish. The food was excellent - hot buffet with a wide range of meat and vegetarian options.

We booked a family Afternoon Tea for 8 people (2 of which were vegetarian). When we arrived (considering it was 12:30) seemed like organised chaos. 4 people behind the bar who made work look hard, ordered 1 pint of lager, 1 wine, 1 hot chocolate & 1 bitter shandy in a world record 15 minutes. We got showed to our table which had bench seating on 2 sides. The material on the bench seating looked like it had been in a bar fight with the stains & looked like it had food on it from at least 1 week previous. They did swap 1 bench saying they had no more spare chairs, although during the 2 hours we were there we observes 5 tables of 6 chairs completely unused. When our afternoon tea arrived we had 1 cake stand (3 tiers) of sandwiches/wraps which was for 8 people. This equated to around 1.5 rounds of bread per person. We had also asked for no fish when booking & the top tear was Salmon, and considering 1/4 of the party was Vegetarian (mentioned when booked) there was no balanced options to accommodate this against the BLT. We were also offered Egg sandwiches at point of booking, there were none supplied. When they arrived we questioned the serving staff what was in them all, and they couldn't tell us. They said they would go away and ask but I don't remember being told. They did however supply some additional cheese sandwiches when asked as the original ones tasted stale like thy had been made about 9am. This all sounds very negative, but @ £15/head I expect better.

We stayed just one night. We have stayed here before and both times "John" looked after us very well. He is welcoming, efficient and accommodates where possible. Compliments to the chef, excellent food and cooked to perfection. Not forgetting all other bar staff and cleaners....

The full English breakfast served here will get you through to dinnertime. Staff are friendly and efficient and the fireplace and resident pups make it feel like home.
