Popped in for lunch when visiting in the area. The lunchtime 2 meals for a set price was great value for money. Would recommend

Visited the oak for a bite to eat and a beer. Ben who was working was an absolute delight. Really personable young man. Pub was reasonably busy but he still took the time to have a chat. Thank you for making us feel welcome as we've just moved to the area.

While going for a drive a parked up amd went for a wonder and found this lovely little gem drinks perfectly priced and food on point

Great place to watch sport especially over the Euros. Some parking to the front and garden to the back. Good food if that’s what you want

Was here over the weekend and Kehara and Ben were working, they were quick with their service and kept smiles on their faces through it all, they have great team work and communicate very well. They really made my experience a good one seeing how they interact with the guest, will definitely be back

Me and my friends thought we would try somewhere new for a change and this place didn't disappoint. The young male manager was very welcoming to us considering we had never been before. Drinks were reasonably priced and the food even thought we didn't have any looked great. We shall be back again soon

Had the tapas deal and it was fantastic watched some live sport then had a sing with the late karaoke and some fantastic pints the beer was beautiful you can tell it is really looked after fantastic staff and a business that can look forwards and not backwards will definitely be back

The Karaoke nights are starting to bring more people to The Oak. The DJ is excellent and certainly knows how to entertain

You are unable to order food after 8 O'Clock, most of the tables and bar were full of empty glasses. It was reasonably busy but it didn't warrant how untidy it looked.

We frequently eat at The Oaks, and the food I just can’t fault. My partner had Ham, Egg and Chips and I had the Salad which was absolutely delicious. Nice pub with lovely staff and great food, what more could you want.

After reading the positive reviews on here I talked my partner into trying it after a day out for a bite and a drink or two. Don’t get me wrong the staff were attentive and pleasant. The menu was sparse lots of items unavailable. Once we did find something the food was not great, I would say below average. I can se it being a great pub for watching sports and a drink or three but highly unlikely to return for food.

Wow was not expecting the great service and food here. Stopped off after a trip to Kent on Sunday. Super impressed with their vegetarian and vegan offering. The staff were super helpful with me as a fussy customer and nothing was too much trouble. Best Mac and cheese I’ve had in the UK and even was better than some I’ve had in Scotland and the states. I know grays as a place can have a bit of a bad rep, but don’t let that deter you from the great food and service here.

The Oak is a very good local pub, called in tonight for the football, good atmosphere, lively but well controlled. Well worth checking out on match days.

Fantastic pub - great food and place to have a catch up with friends. Pool tables as well which is always great too. Lovely beer garden and plenty of parking if your traveling from far. Loads of sports being shown too!

Come here with a group of friends for drinks and really enjoyed it the staff are very hard working and very friendly and polite always got a smile even when they are rushed off their feet doing table service. Would definitely recommend 😁

Came her for a casual meal with the family. Had pizza, 2 burgers, southern fried chicken and some drinks. Honestly amazed at the quality of the food for the price. Mum and sister are vegetarian and the options were plenty!! That plus the fact that Jo and the team were so friendly.We shall be frequenting this place for meals regularly.Many thanks all!!!

Came out for a family lunch. Loads of brilliant vegetarian options and the chef (midge) cooked everything to perfection - especially the pizza. That was perfect! We will be back again soon

As we have just moved to Grays about 3 weeks ago.Me and my family decided to have a drink ot two in this pub.We was greeted at the door with respect, the staff member nicely explained the new procedures in place due to the Cov19 and then walked us to our table!The bar staffs are very friendly, polite and they serve you with a smile on there faces.Me and my family ordered some food, we were impressed with the variety of meals on the menu.When our food arrived it was hot and looked and tasted delicious. The place had other families in there,its a friendly place,with lots of tv screens for variety of sports.Now I know where to come when the football season starts.When we left the pub, we waked out very happy.I can honestly say we will be making this say our local and I would recommend the Oak pub.

Back again - 1st day open after lockdown. Staff very clear on new rules/guidance. One of our party had nut allergy and staff very thorough with order, ensuring correct procedures were taken. Food good value for money.

The food is good but if you’re a bitter drinker go elsewhere, plenty of lagers from around the world but not a sign of English ale, unless you want a craft beer from a tin!

On arrival I was Greeted from a very nice man. He was very welcoming and couldn't do enough for me and my family. It was outstanding service and top quality food and me and my family will definitely be coming back.

I called in today and was very pleased with the wrap and sweet potato fries, great value for money. The pub is warm and welcoming and I also enjoyed watching the cricket on a big HDTV. The menu is value for money and also does pizza. The pub has a car park but remember to log your registration number. Does what is says on the tin.

Came to visit to meet up with friends and had a blast..... friendly staff, good food and drinks and played some great tunes on the juke box ....... definitely will be coming back again

Normally good but on visiting today ordered lunch to were told there was no service for at least three quartersp of an hour as the chef was at lunch this was unacceptable and we left surely running this type of establishment you can't just stop serving food to allow 1 member of staff to have a meal break this complaint does not stop here as one has been made to the brewers Mitchell & Butler

We are a family of 5.. My children aged 7,8 and 10. I got emailed a voucher offering 40% discount so I thought why not? We visited today and ordered chicken wings and goujons for starters. Really nice. Surprisingly so. Then to mains. Steaks x 3 , fish and chicken all with chips. I can say that these plates we all ate and enjoyed. I would say the standard has massively improved since our last visit in 2018.

I met up with some long lost friends at The Oak in Grays the place was packed with happy people and the staff were very efficient and remember my orders when they saw me walking to the bar they simply gestured same again?

Staff using mobile phones regularly and rude.Staff seem to respond to shouts rather than serving those who have been waiting longest. Toilets are filthy and the staff are often rude or cocky if you make a comment.The heating is not on during a cold November day.Failed to get served on my third drink, so left and went somewhere else. Tried to contact the Mitchells and Butler website to complain directly, but the site does not take complaints. Obviously they don't want to know how bad it is.

Good value for money on meal deals - especially for a quick lunch time Burger and a drink £5.29 Will go back.

I came in with my son and family. We had lunch and drinks. Bar service was brillant could not fault them. As it was busy they still made sure they knew I was there and got to me as soon as they could.

well what a pleasant surprise, never been here before very friendly place staff were lovely and helpful, gave colouring paper and pens to granddaughter made a fuss over baby made us feel very welcome and the food was lovely well presented hot and tasty, will definately be going back

A large party of us went for an early Christmas Celebration. the table was set out beautifully for us and our Christmas Dinner was lovely yet very reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Real working mens pub with a good family vibe - Food is pub grub as expected. The staff here are all home grown and know their stuff. The only downside is the toilets often stink!

Pub seems calm and friendly. Toilets needed a clean, considering it was quiet they needed TLC. Good amount of pool...

Had 10oz rump steak n wished I hadn't. Tough as old boots. Was chewing away with no joy. Chips were luke warm. Try complaining to the staff and they ignore you and walk away. Great customer service that is.... Not!!!

We go there fairly regularly. Pretty basic they have never failed to produce a decent meal. Very reasonable. Gets busy when the football is on

Place of choice to meet before a Friday night curry. It's a nice big old pub but very much a lads pub as has all the sports on tv . Never had any trouble in there the times I have been though and the ladies do use as does couples. Wouldn't take my kids though as the language can be a bit choice. Beers were cheap and they seemed to have a good choice. Service was a bit slow but the girls apologised. Good pubs are a bit scarce within walking distance of where I live so best of the lot. Good curry houses on the parade which helps as well.

The Oak in Grays never disappoints us, the quality and choice is excellent.We eat there at least one a month, also for our birthdays and whenever we want to meet up with our friends.We have tried all the local eatery's and found The Oaks to be the best.I recomend it to everybody without hesitation, although being a "sports pub" it can get a bit noisy on match nights.

An old school pub now owned by a chain but had a real atmosphere for big sporting events such as the football or rugby. Drinks are reasonable prices although an get a bit lively at times.

About 20 of use went foe a Valentines meal at the Oakes. There were another crowd of around 12 at another table. We have been many times before the main reason being the cost of meals and drink. It is somewhat comparable to a Weatherspoons acceptable food, nothing fancy. With cheap drink. We had the valentine special. A main with either a starter or a sweet plus a drink for two people. How much? £15. Is this cheap or what!! If you take off the two drinks which must be over £5.50 anyway that you look at it, then you are left with £9.50 for two mains and two starters or sweets. The Ladies were given a chocolate long stemmed rose in a box each as well. The men had to buy the extra drinks but at under £7 for a decent bottle of house wine and around £2.80 per pint we were all very happy. Can't complain about the service either. Very helpful and obliging. A result.

We are moving into the area soon so we thought we would give The Oak a try as it would be our new local and really the only place nearby that does pub food. We could see this was a lads drinking pub, with the locals near the bar, pool table and footy on loud. We should of known it's not a food pub however unfortunately we was incredibly disappointed regardless. The lady at the bar took 20 minutes to take our order even though we were the only people ordering. Upon arrival of the food, which was far too quick (literally 3 minutes) my jacket potato was so uncooked it tasted like it just came out of the ground and my partners burger was cold and the bun was stale. Obviously it was cheap, which is great however this was not a good experience and we won't be going back.

Bit of a lads pub would not take the other half, Lager, football and pool is your game then you will be quids in here, its my local but only as i cant be bothered to get a cab!!
