Didn't really think much to it at all. I really don't know what else to say. It was my birthday meal. We went into the pub and they told us to go upstairs. We were greeted by a nice lady, she took our drinks order and meal order. I had beef pie, it came with gravy, however all I can say is the gravy was absolutely disgusting. It clearly had red wine in it, and WAY too much of it. I was really taken aback, I certainly wasn't expecting that. I struggled to eat my meal as I had put the gravy all over my meal. The mashed potato was excessively lumpy. I just really am lost for words to be honest. The lady who served us upstairs was nice but I won't be returning. I really don't know what happened here as the reviews are all good. So unbelievably disappointed. I just didn't want to say anything at the meal that was for my birthday.

We have visited several times on a Friday night for the fish and chip offer served here. The fish is really fresh, tasty and the portion is really good. Chips are home made and delicious, can’t comment on the peas as I never have them, but they are included in the deal. To top it off Becky and the girls are lovely, offering a great service that tops the whole experience off. I really recommend that you give it a go, it’s such good value.

Went in for a drink after the dog walk. I saw a late Sunday lunch being delivered to table next to me. It looked fab ! I enquired and they accepted my order , close to 2.30. Within 15 mins I had my delicious Sunday Roast Chicken- roast and mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, cabbage and brocoli, with a separate gravy boat. Stuffing ball too. It was fab. My only initial concern was that the chicken was shredded! Why ? But, it was chicken breast and tasted great. Better gravy absorption! A lovely meal for me and my dog at £10. Great service too !

Took our friends from Banbury for there Fish and chip offer which was very reasonable. Having run our own fish and chip shop for 20 years I must say it was probably one of the best portion of fish and chips we’d had since I sold my shop in 2008 , the fish (haddock of course ) was our white very chunky and like the batter was cooked to perfection , as was the chips , mushy peas and curry sauce. We would highly recommend a visit to the Notts restaurant where the staff are also very friendly. Ten out of ten for everything we definitely will be back.

We booked a table tonight for our annual family Christmas meal for 6 people. We had booked several weeks ago and the table was set for 8 even though we booked for 6. There were plastic table cloths and cheap thin cutlery which really surprised me. We were so very disappointed. Our table was booked for 7.30pm. My sister and husband were slightly late arriving so we ordered drinks and then ordered our food once they arrived at around 7.50pm. We chose prawn cocktail starters from the menu but were told it was main course only not starters. The main course was really very average. I had a luke warm tasteless lasagne and chips. We has 2 choices of desert, I had a deforsted lemon meringue. Shortly afterwards we were asked to settle our bill at 8.45pm, no chance to have coffee. We were then asked to leave at 9pm by a waiter who turned all the music off even though we still had our drinks. We asked can we just finish our drinks and were told only if you take them downstairs to the bar Never have I experienced this type of customer service. Why open up as a restaurant if you are not equiped to do so. Definitely more a cafe than a'restaurant' and a very poor one at that. We will never return, it was such a bad experience.

Went for an evening meal with a group of friends.. pre warned the chef that I was Vegan as nothing Vegan on the menu. I was offered 4 different vegan options when I arrived, but disappointed that it seemed to be all bought in processed vegan food, burgers, sausages, chicken. Home made Vegan meals are easy to prepare and cook, particularly this time of year when seasonal vegetables are cheap and in abundance. I’ve visited this restaurant many time over the years and always enjoyed the home cooked food and cosy atmosphere. Sadly I didn’t have the same experience this time. We all commented that the restaurant was cold, we weren’t offered desserts and was informed they wanted to close at 9.15pm. The rest of my party said their meals were “ok, nothing special, felt like cafe food”. So sadly we won’t be returning.

I have been going to the Notts for years and years, but moved away on 1978 and only returned to the Cleethorpes area in December 2020. In the old days it was purely a pub, but when I moved back it was fantastic to discover that it has a great restaurant run by Kim who is also the chef. There is a very wide range of food that can be served in the lounge and the bar, and I have sampled many of the items - for a late lunch today I had a beautifully cooked jacket potato with garlic mushrooms as the topping - delicious. But last Sunday I booked a table in the upstairs restaurant and I had a wonderful roast pork Sunday lunch. The pork was beautifully cooked and melted in the mouth, the roast potatoes were crisp but soft inside, the veggies were al dente as I like them and the gravy was flavoursome. I didn’t have any room left for dessert or cheese, but managed a nice glass of port to finish off. Certainly one of the best roast lunches I have ever eaten. Many thanks Kim and team 👏👍. Went Sunday for a roast. Was sat 30 minutes waiting for a waitress. Not even a drink offered. When she did finally turn up. She said we don’t have any food left hardly WOW so we had been seated 30 minutes to be told they have no food she then went away and came back and said it should be ok. The food was terrible heron Yorkshire puddings and food was not up to scratch. Restaurant has pipes and electric cables pinned to the skirtings was not pleasant. We have ate many times here in the past. What has happened I do not know. But it was absolutely terrible service and food. After this spoke to a number of people in the area and have all said it has gone down hill. You have been WARNED

I used to live in Cleethorpes until I moved to London for work in 1978, and I worked in London and then moved abroad in 1990 and lived and worked in 14 different countries before moving back to Lincolnshire in December 2019 when I retired. The Notts as it is known is everything you want in a pub - great, friendly staff, the beer is excellent - Timmy Taylor’s Landlord is my particular favourite, but the Tetley’s, Thwaites Wainwright, and Oakham Citra are also excellent bitters - all beautifully kept and thoroughly enjoyable. There are a couple of lagers, draft Guinness and a really interesting Porter (Titanic Plum Porter). The food is really good - 5 starters, 6 main courses, various sandwiches & jacket potatoes, 5 desserts and a specials board. As far as I’m concerned it is the perfect pub and I go virtually every day 😊👍

Basically five stars, but take off 0.2 stars for the smoked mackerel pate being a little over-salted, and 0.4 stars for the mango and passionfruit icecream tasting very little of mango and not at all of passionfruit. But everything else was delicious and the waitress was pleasant and helpful. One minor thing: what is this current craze for providing the narrowest possible loo roll? Seriously, people, be a bit more generous! In several places lately the loo roll's been under 3" wide, which just seems cheap.

No capacity to run a tab and food paid for up front.Service was swift and efficient. The snug itself is okay but the walk through the bar to get to it leaves a little to be desired!

I recently had a 'big' birthday and attempted to book at another restaurant in Cleethorpes who were unhelpful so a friend strongly recommended The Notts, I'm so pleased she did as it was a great venue on so many levels and, I believe, far better than anywhere else I might have gone. First of all the owner Andy was so helpful, we went to see him to discuss the room and what would be available, he was always available for quick answers to queries by text or email, and unbeknown to me my daughter had several conversations with him as well where certain extras and bringing a cake and so on were discussed, she too said he couldn't have been more helpful. We had a private room for the 16 of us which was great with fantastic views over the water and a lovely ambience. The food, which was ordered in advance was absolutely delicious, we began with very tasty complimentary hor d'oevres and the remainder of the choices were beautifully cooked and presented. My lamb shank fell of the bone and was gorgeous and the desserts were scrumptious, I didn't have a starter but those who did raved about them. One lady (in her 70s) who had the fish and chips said they were the best she's ever tasted in her life, that is some compliment in this area of Cleethorpes/Grimsby! The staff were faultless, unobtrusively efficient, pleasant and helpful, from start to finish everything was totally professional. All 16 said they'd go back and also recommend to others. In fact I've already suggested it to a friend for her small wedding party. From my first contact to the end of a wonderful evening everything was superb!

Our office went for a Christmas meal at The Notts on 5th December. The starters were slow but lovely. After a lengthy wait, the mains arrived, all 12 Christmas Turkey dinners were stone cold. They were taken away and zapped in the microwave and returned without even an apology. I did email them with our concerns but they chose not to reply. The chef was apparently told on the night that we weren't too happy, if he had just had the courtesy to come and see us, or reply to our email, we would not have posted a review on here. Bad customer services. We will not return.

After looking at their website, being impressed by the menu on there and practically choosing our meal, we booked a table. Upon arriving we were seated and then presented with an A4 piece of paper. The menu items on there bore no resemblance to what we had seen online, and when I mentioned this to our server she replied “Oh don’t look at that - it’s way out of date”. The menu we were shown would have been ok if you like cheese, cream or fish - it really was that limited. Needless to say we finished our drinks (£9 for a cider and a G&T; - what is it with Cleethorpes prices just lately) and went to eat somewhere else.

Decided to take the wife to the Notts for lunch. We both had the Cajun chicken breast burger with halloumi and homemade chips. The Cajun chicken was very tasty and juicy, homemade chips was great! You also got an onion ring and some side salad, but I'm a bit of a salad dodger so never touched that although it did look nice. Service was great! the young girl was very attentive. Would definitely return and highly recommend! 5 stars from myself and the wife.

Having lived in Grimsby for 22 years we decided it was high time we had a meal here when suggested by our friends and I have to say that a) I’m not sure why we waited this long and b) I will definitely be going there again! The Seafood Sharing Platter was an absolute joy as a starter, the haddock special was a delicious main and the lemon posset couldn’t have been a better finale. Service was excellent and friendly, thank you Alan and your team

Lovely fish and chips, which won praise from our very picky mam. Batter was light and crispy, and the chips were chunky and cooked perfectly. My halloumi salad was also very good, and the waitresses were attentive and personable. Underneath the tables required a bit of a brush, but the food made up for that small detail. The Notts has been there forever, and looks like a proper old pub, rather worn around the edges, but don’t let that put you off. It’s well worth a visit.

Earlier that day we were talking to a cafe owner about where to eat that evening. She wasn't overly enthusiastic about a couple of places we were considering so we asked where she would recommend and without hesitation she said 'The Notts'. On the strength of that we booked a table and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The napkins were cloth, the flowers were real, the staff were very pleasant and the food was delicious. Okay, the broccoli stems were a bit hard but the florets were fine and everything else was excellent. Same time next year, if we're back in Cleethorpes!

Having avoided most of the sea front bars as they were packed and noisy we ventured into The Notts, my cousin be a local! It was a great little pub, very welcoming. They did a range of draught ales, I had the Wainwright which was excellent. We didn't eat here as going to the Agrah next door!

I have tried other places around the North East Lincolnshire, and most of North Norfolk when down that way, however it was really great to find this restaurant in Cleethorpes, local to me, on a recommendation. The food was really good, the service again, good, and the serving staff, very friendly. I had a great time on my own enjoying the meal, sweet and coffee.. so thank you to all at the Notts.

We ate at the Notts for lunch for my daughter's birthday in April. The weather was terrible so the restaurant was empty. Never the less the food was excellent. We all had fish, chips and peas. The fish was the best we had eaten, and the chips were home made. The only downside was that it was very cold in the restaurant so we all kept our coats on.

Earlier this year I tried to arrange a meal here for a group of friends. I e-mailed and it was confirmed that it was possible to order from either the pub grub, lunch or evening menus. However we did not go there as they did not have a suitable time slot for us.I received some vouchers for here as a birthday gift so we decided to give it a try.The menus on line were still the same so was disappointed to be handed one very limited menu. I asked if another menu was available or if the steak on the online menu was available and was told we could only order from the one given. We had the seafood sharing platter to start which was quite nice. My husband ordered his choice and the only thing left that I liked was fish and chips. Not great as I had this the previous evening. Both meals were ok.When we mentioned the website the waitress said it was not updated by them but someone else so they could not do anything about it and pointed out that it does state 'subject to change'. Change being an understatement as the website has been the same since at least February so not really a good enough excuse as customers should be confident that it is reasonably accurate. If you go be aware that the website is months out if date and they have a very limited choice on the night.Would be unlikely to return

Had lunch here today and two of us had fish and chips, and one had the pie, all of which were about £10 each. We had a great seat in the window looking out to sea, which was lovely. The tables are clothed and the restaurant is nicely decorated. The fish and homemade chips were some of the best I've had, and the homemade pie was full of big chunks of steak, all of which were quite big portions. The staff were super friendly and very efficient. I will definitely be returning. The restaurant part is upstairs, not in the pub, if you go. Well worth a visit.

We stopped here for a drink whilst out walking the dog. Our four legged friend was allowed in the bar area, and as we entered we counted six other dogs, so felt very at home! The beer was good, service efficient, and the staff and customers alike were friendly. In fact our dog was even given a treat by somebody, which was as great. I've been in before with my dog and have always been made to feel welcome.

Myself and my husband had 'date night' at this restaurant on Saturday evening, we were welcomed by a delightful young waitress who presented us with the specials board for the night before showing us to our table (nice touch)! The presentation of the room and table were simple and aesthetically pleasing with chilled music playing in the background. We had ordered our drinks and food, starting with tempura king prawns which were beautifully cooked to perfection, my husband loved these! For mains I ordered the ribeye steak with all the trimmings, this was the best steak I had ever tasted, thoroughly enjoyed and not a crumb was left! My husband had the minted lamb shank, the meat just fell off the bone and melted in his mouth (his own words), for desert we both had the homemade crunchie cheesecake with ice cream which finished our nice off nicely! All in all we had a lovely meal and a very pleasing evening, compliments to the chef and all the staff! We will definitely be visiting again! Mr and Mrs Adekola

If you eat old fashioned, boring, English meat meals and can stand the stench of a filthy back street boozer and deep fat fryer, don't mind the smell of wet dog just out of the Humber, or the rancid odour of overcooked fish and chips this is the place for you.

Delightful staff welcomed us for our visit yesterday. Introduced to a board on arrival with specials before being taken to our table. Attentive staff were very patient as we dithered over what drinks and food to have as we were chatting. Extensive wine list. Whilst we we're enjoying our New Zealand Savi Blanc and had ordered our food we were brought a complimentary share starter of warm (yummy) bread with dipping oil/balsamic, onions, gherkins, cheese and chorizo. A lovely touch. All food is home cooked. Hubby opted for Cajun chicken and I had beef stroganoff. I really couldn't decide and a neighbouring table had ordered the fish and chips which was huge and looked gorgeous. We could over hear that it was amazing with crispy batter. I wondered if I had made the right decision but I had mine was lovely and the portions were very large. Husband also said his was excellent. We had a white chocolate cheesecake to share to finish and that was amazing. Hubby said it was the best he has had in 20 years! Just as a note we didn't order starters as we were finishing our night in a nearby cocktail bar and didn't want to over do it but they looked good and would like to try in the future. All in all a wonderful experience. I have to say that the establishments in this town with young staff need to take note of the way the Notts train their staff. They really were the most delightful young ladies. Top marks The Notts we will be returning.

We've been meaning to try The Notts restaurant for some while now, having been told by numerous local people how good the food is, so on our last trip to Cleethorpes decided to give it a try. You wouldn't assume this to be the first place to go for fish and chips as there are more specialist restaurants but believe me, they were the best fish and chips I've tasted in a long while! The batter was crisp but dry (not oozing grease like some establishments), the chips equally delicious. We ate in the dining room upstairs (lovely views) but you can also eat downstairs in the Snug I believe. Staff were chatty and friendly. Not normally pudding people, we couldn't resist the lime and ginger dessert and the lemon sponge - both equally delicious. For certain we will return when next in Cleethorpes. Thank you.

My husband and I arrived at 1250 to be greeted with “have you booked?” As passing trade but living local we hadn’t realised you had to book and we were informed by a member of staff that they were really popular so tables get booked quickly but she would take a look. We noticed two tables free both seating 4, one in the corner and one set inbetween two other tables. The member of staff informed us that the corner table we had placed our things on was booked at 1:30 but we could have the one set inbetween the other tables and the one where everyone knocked into when passing. I told her we would be done quickly anyway so not to worry. My latte came and I had drunk it before my cake arrived, my husbands’ Americano was very weak but was hot, his cheesecake was tasty all the same and my Victoria sponge equally tasty. Within 15mins a table of 6 was cleared and made available and the table that we originally had chosen was offered as a “choice of where would you like to sit” to customers who had booked. We have eaten in some lovely places and had coffee in some nice settings but have never felt as uncomfortable or unwelcome before. I would say that if passing trade isn’t welcome then put bookings only on your page would be helpful, so customers who feel It would be lovely to drop by and support a local business don’t.

We visited to commemorate my Stepfather’s 80th Birthday after he passed away in 2022. He was born in Cleethorpes and as a child looked through the windows of this hotel with his brother saying that one day they would stay here. They both lived to experience staying here, and it is now our privilege to carry on this tradition. The hotel is beautiful, traditional and spotlessly clean. We dined in the restaurant and found the food and service impeccable. We look forward to returning next year…. And every year after.

The same as many others, gutted that the place is changing to a Premier Inn guests only restaurant, seriously bad move. The place is busy nearly every serving We have even been for Christmas dinner for the last 10 years or so as well as breakfasts and tea times Please rethink this ridiculous decision

The best Lincolnshire sausages I’ve had they definitely should be an option to buy to cook yourself. The breakfast Is actually one of the cheapest I know of but also by far the tastiest around. A bonus too as also it comes with a tea of coffee, definitely recommend.
