What a comprehensive menu of pies either with Mash/chips and mushy peas. The food is second to none, there pies are outstanding. Good choice of beers , will be returning .

My friend lives in Sheffield suggest me this pub. Their pie are amazing, definitely better than chained pie restaurant I tried before. Their chips are surprisingly good even they are sides only, mushed peas and mashed potato are very nice too. Pie with sides ~£12.5 Pints ~£6

A Sheffield must. Never disappointed by a Notty House pie: range of pies including some seasonal and veggie/vegan ones, crispy chips, great portion size and perfect with Hendo’s and a drink. My failsafe favourite is the (vegan) veggie mince and onion.

Pleasant surroundings in a nice area of city.

Lovely pie and chips. We dined early on a Friday night and were served early. The music could have come from my Spotify account (I'm 63 years old). Staff friendly and efficient. I'll visit again

Great selection of pies. Usually busy and you can't reserve a table unless you have a group of ten people.

A proper pub. No airs or graces. Just great food, excellent drinks selection and traditional pub atmosphere.

In Ireland, going to the pub for a pie isn't a thing so we wanted to find the best pub in Sheffield for a pub and a pint, and I think we found it. The pies were very tasty and the service very fast. We come to Sheffield once a year for a football match and I think we'll be returning here.

What a great idea, specialise on one type of food and do it well. The Nottingham House have a good range of pies to cover all tastes including vegetarian and vegan (not sure about gluten free). The pies we had (3 different types) were all very tasty, with the mash and chips being good too. My only criticism is that one of the pies could have been hotter and the plates were very cold, so the food cooled down quickly. Overall, a good meal and excellent beer as well!

Amazing pies, really good drinks priced brilliantly. Wish they had put ten bob in the lekky meter though... it was freezing in there...

We had the beef and ale and beef and Guinness pies, we all said they were the best pies we ever tasted. Generous portions too. The chips were very tasty, not sure how they were cooked or what they were cooked in but again very good. The barman was also very friendly and helpful. I will definitely make another visit even though I will be driving a very long distance. I highly recommend you visit you won’t be disappointed by the pies. Only suggestion would be the pup could do with a little spruce up, not fancy but a little upkeep. P.s. our intentions were to take pics. to show family back home but we were too eager to eat😂

Food is amazing, I don't like pie. But I do like Nottingham house pie. Staff are always great.

Best pies we’ve ever had!!! Ever!!!

Was told on ordering it would be 45 minutes for a pie, bit long but not ridiculous. Chased it up after an hour and was told it was "about to come out" and it still ended up taking 1 hour and 20 minutes from ordering. Would expect at that stage some sort of partial refund at the least, but nothing was really offered and the apology was halfhearted. Not the first time the wait has been excruciating (you're lucky if it comes out in less than 40 minutes), and the pies, whilst good, aren't good enough to justify waiting that long every time you go. Try The York up the road or the Punch Bowl in Crookes, service is infinitely quicker, tables less grimey and the pies are just as good!

Chill pub, good food , big portions , and vegan and vegetarian options available. Great for a gang of friends

Amazingly simple menu of pies with chips or mash. Pastry is to die for. Chips were like best ever chip shops chips. All utterly delicious. Vegan mushroom and chestnut pie best pie partner had ever had, included vegan gravy. Atmosphere and service great.

Great food, Nice ambiance & Staff were friendly. Just be mindful it can get very busy, you have to wait to get some seats and food was very late. But the food was delish so its Ok.

Four of us visited, for a meal and drinks. A massive thumbs up for the pies! Woukd highly recommend 👍

Decent pies in a cosy pub atmosphere for good prices.

Been to this place for food for more than 8 years. No concerns about food but had a bad experience with one of the staff today. Ordered for two takeaway pies today and was informed that it would take 5 minutes. Waited for about 15-20minutes and was trying to ask one of the staff for update. The lady who originally served us was nice and helpful, but when I tried to ask another female staff for help, she was rude and said "I cannot help you", I have explained I was promised for the 5 min wait and now it has been 15-20 mins, she said it was not her problem. She did not even offer to check with the kitchen - so I would rate 1 star for the services and think this lady who was standing at the till at 14.25-14.40 would need some serious re-training for her customer service skills. She was wearing a grey T shirt. The lady with curly long hair was lovely and was the person who served us in the beginning. Food wise, no issues. It is all because of one bad staff and hence this review. Photos submitted for evidence that we have actually been to this place.

Disappointing , mash was very lumpy ,peas luke warm ,pie was not very warm. took 50 mins to come and was starving at this stage, so decided to eat it !

Lovely cosy pub with the best pies I’ve ever had, no exaggeration. Nice and flaky pastry, delicious fillings and a choice of mash or chips. The mushy peas are excellent as well! There are also several vegetarian/vegan pie options (if they don’t run out - try to go early if you want choice). Would highly recommend!

There's usually a wait but the pies are good and the mash is palatable.

My son told me about this place he had mentioned the quality pies so we all went to try and give them a try and boy we weren’t disappointed they were excellent. The four of us all had different pies you could have chips or mash with peas and a gravy boat I chose steak and ale and it was delicious.

Very pleasantly surprised. Went for a meal with our son as it was close to where he lives. Only pies, but an excellent range including a vegetarian option. Service was friendly and efficient. The pies themselves were delicious. My only possible complaint would be that the serving of mushy peas could have been larger but it was nice to have proper mushy peas instead of what you get elsewhere. I would highly recommend Nottingham House.

Got to Notty House early. Long queue for food but was able to place order promptly. Solo bar staff member but was efficient and friendly. Recommended Moonshine to go with Steak & Ale pie. Good combo. Pie was hot and went great with crisp chips. Plenty of gravy. All nicely seasoned and very tasty. PS The steak pie was very well filled with tender steak. Fattest pie I’ve had yet!

Great choice pies with great fillings. Good portions. Had to wait an hour for food and no apology. Our order was taken and the 20mins later told our pie was unavailable so had to make a second choice. I was ignored at the bar. Good job the food was great

Friday 3pm couples tea.. Ordered food then after 30mins was told our pies were not available. Went to bar and was left waiting while staff walked about carrying on other duties, eventually served when a member of staff was shocked i was still waiting. Our alternative pies came to our table 1hour after we arrived and we were starving. Great food, fabulous selection of pies. Absolute rubbish service. No organisation, no apology. Will return only because of the great pies.

The day we went the selection of pies was scarce but it just shows how popular the place is. Great crispy pie casing and the pies are always full! The chips are also nice, not greasy. The only thing was that this place was busy and staff didn’t seem quick to clear tables but this is a great spot to visit otherwise. Another downside is no gluten free option, I would lobe to bring my family / friends but unable due to allergies.

ordered the halloumi and vegetable pie and got food poisoning :( the person who ordered the same pie as me felt very unwell the next day too, but my friends who got other pies were fine. such a shame as it was tasty and had been looking forward to going for a while

Fantastic pub, good layout with great atmosphere, kind of student style clientèle but still a great pub abd the pies are to die for! Can't fault them!

I love this place a great pub with loads of atmosphere great staff and the food is top class. You have to get there early or you may not get the pie you want.

Not the most appealing from the outside or inside, but the atmosphere is great and, obviously appreciated by the, mostly, student clientele. The staff are really kind and caring, but the best part is the variety of pies that they provide, with chips or mash and peas. Hendersons always available. 😋

Well this was a great experience if you fancy a pie , staff friendly food great I would come again definitely 👍 £12:50 and a hearty portion plenty to choose from on the menu as long as it’s pie with mash or chips and peas .

Affordable, approachable staff, possibly the best pies in Sheffield. Had chicken and chorizo and it was fab. Gravy could’ve been a tad thicker but still tasted great

Came to Notty house with my housemates for pies, their pies looked amazing! Being gluten free I could only eat chips which were nice. Its only chips that get fried so they're gluten safe. It would be amazing to see some gluten free meat and vegetarian/vegan pies to be on offer, even if they're handmade and frozen, also gluten free gravy? I'd love to eat a pie !! 🥧

Fabulous pies and chips say no more

We all had Steak and ale pie and chips. Pie was mint....Not one of those sparsely filled with grisly meat jobbies. This one was perfect, packed with tender lean meat chunks and proper aley gravy. It was big too. The chips..praise be! They were actually identifiable as being cut from a bone fide real potato, rather than icy, reformed, zombie chips shaken from a McCain bag or summat. Didn't have mushy peas as I don't like them. Think the chef gave us extra chips in lieu. Abbeydale pale ale was decent also. Only gripe was the table needed a wipe when we sat down. They were quite busy though.

If they can improve on the toilet cleanliness would be Great!!

Decent student pub, nice outdoor seating, pie and chips is really good (might need to preorder, can be busy), range of beer very limited. Parking just opposite, paid for, free later.

First visit with my daughter who has been before. 40 minute wait which was fine as the server clarified this as we ordered and we where not looking for fast food. A smile and good service go a long long way and unfortunately the person who took our order was presumably carrying stuff from outside of work as they seemed on auto pilot, almost abrupt. First impressions last. The food was ok. Mussy peas where cold the pie and chips warm, rather than hot.

Pies are fantastic, beer range a bit dull

Stale cold chips. Told the sever, she said she would tell the kitchen. Never got an answer back from the person in charge. Absolutely disgusting. Wasted money and time.

Fab pie, large portion for money

I have been a few times for the pies so I was really looking forward to a pie on Sunday. I won't be going again, the prices have increased to nearly £12. The portions were smaller and I always thought everything was made/cooked to order but the pies were being warmed up in a microwave oven. I was sat opposite the kitchen & the microwave was in full view, the pie crusts were soft due to being microwaved. Very disappointing..

Been to Nottingham House a few times before love there pies very pleasant and helpful bar staff only gave three because had send food back as plate warm but food cold but was soon put right with fresh chips hot gravy will still visit a gain

Awesome pies. Full of great tasting meat!

Gone downhill in the last year. Frequently have to send back cold food and undercooked chips. Still tastes good, though.

We all enjoyed our pies but a couple of them would've been better with a few more minutes in the oven to brown the pastry and the meals/peas weren't piping hot. It was very busy though.Lovely chips.
