Awesome venue for food, drink & live music.

Called in while car was in garage. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. We sat in the beer garden and one thing i noticed is tht is difficult to get phone signal. They do have free WiFi which helps.

First time today for lunch but definitely won't be the last. Beautiful home cooked Sunday roast. Very quick service, and portion size was very generous. Definitely be recommending.

A real gem of a place, food is delicious and highly recommend Sunday lunch -if you are lucky enough to get a table is just beautifully cooked and great VFM . Dogs are really welcomed with dog treats and water bowl on arrival and then served their own Sunday roast! The staff are lovely, welcoming and attentive and we cant wait to return again

Nice and clean inside. Litter outside looks a bit 😳. The meal was, Yorkshire pud was burnt and I'm not keen on a massive Yorkshire anyway. The chicken could have been sliced. Roast potatoes were just OK. The cabbage had sliced leeks in it. Pity. The parsnip was unusual in batter. The gravy was pale and tasteless. Sorry but it was a disaster for £12.00. Me and my friend go to a different place to eat on a Friday in Carmarthen. She would have turned her nose up. Sorry. Take a tip from the Boar's Head carvery in Carmarthenshire. Smashing carvery every day, for £12.00

I visited the North Star on a Sunday with myself, partner and family members. Upon arrival we were greeted by the staff who were very welcoming and friendly and then we was shown our table. What can I say other than “everything was perfect and nothing was too much bother” the food was absolutely outstanding and I believe it was cooked by one of the owners “Dave” his cooking and friendly warm manner was perfect.. we cannot wait to go bk again..! We also love the decor within the establishment also so Well Done North Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cannot fault the food or the service - both were excellent!

Came for Sunday Carvery and it did not disappoint, food was fresh, tasty and well present. Couldnt get enough of the gravy!! Relaxed and inviting welcome from the team and attentive service throughout. Definitely recommend 👌 dog and family friendly which is a bonus!

Fantastic food and drinks all at affordable prices. I can't recommend the North Star enough! On occasion there's a live band performing when we go which is lovely though you can check in advance if this isn't your cup of tea. If it isn't a live band it could be a different form of entertainment such as a Pub Quiz etc. You'll never forget their Sunday lunches, they're absolutely fantastic and are great value for money. I cannot recommend the Chicken dinner enough! The overall good menu is brilliant, a lot of options and all reasonably priced! The North Star is also dog friendly with a doggy option on the food menu! Overall I cannot fault this pub! It is one of my favorites.

Their roast dinner is awesome, the "onion bhaji" style parsnips were an absolute game changer. Drink and food orders didn't take long to come to the table either...even the puddings were on point too. I would highly recommend booking for a Sunday roast to avoid disappointment. See you again very soon.

I'd heard good things about the Sunday lunch at North Star and fancied a change from a carvery! My family and I booked a table with ease. In the group we had Beef Sunday roasts and Chicken and I was SO pleasantly surprised! Way, way more than a typical pub Sunday Lunch! The food was simply stunning and perfectly presented. Not sure I'll ever go anywhere else when fancying a Sunday roast! So much food and for such a reasonable cost! The service was quick and effortless! Highly recommend!

Cracking pub. Karaoke on Sundays. Pool tables. Darts. Good selection of beers and wines. Jukebox. Couple sofas. Can't comment on food as only ever drank here. Attentive staff.

Friendly clean safe pub on the outskirts of the city and in a student area. Lovely staff, plenty of room, reasonable prices and great food with fair portions. Outside area with benches and lots of events like quizzes and live music. Pool table and TV's for sports. Been here a number of times and love it.

Music changed volume randomly through the night, from really quiet to crazy loud. Strange atmosphere in general. Nice pint though so 3 stars for that. Toilets were pretty gross.

The food is on point. The staff memebers are extremely friendly.. The atmosphere is a perfect pub atmosphere.. it has plugs next to tables for work or phone charging.. tables are properly spaced with different types of seating.. music is on.. TVs are on.. great for any purpose you wanna use a pub for.

Pub quiz is always a great night and affordable drinks for students. All in all northy is great

Wonderful Christmas Dinner, highly recommend booking for amazing food and amazing service. Really made our whole group feel relaxed and welcomed right from the beginning. Will certainly be back for food again!

We visited for a Sunday lunch with 3 generations of our family. Absolutely outstanding Sunday lunch, thoroughly enjoyed by us all. So much food and excellent value for money. Super friendly, efficient and polite staff in a traditional pub atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Great food, good drinks and plenty of different things on during the week. You really can't fault this pub and its well priced. We love coming here for a Sunday lunch and our dog absolutely loves it too as he's always spoilt by Dave!

Not bad as far as pubs go, decently selection of drinks.

Me and my family have become locals of this fantastic Pub. With the outstanding Sunday dinners; I don't know what they do with the parsnips but they are absolutely lush. I hate hate hate parsnips but I find myself coming here just for them lol 😂. And the pork? About the length of a 10 year old's arm! So good with the crackalin the hole way over, with the nicest tast of salt bliss. You would thing there's amazing meals would be quite expensive, but think again because a pork meal at only £10.5! With also a good gluten free meals! And on top of all that with kids meals and Desserts. The staff are always happy and friendly, and the entertainment is always great! That it why I come here so oftern and rate it a : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. (And not to mention the pool table, Sunday Karaoke and ping pong table! )

We recently visited for Sunday lunch, all the menu had lots of great gluten free and vegetarian options. The food was really well cooked and wasn't over priced. We'll definitely be going again. NB: Also great for those that eat meat, I had the 3 meat feast with beef, chicken and belly pork. It was possibly the best Sunday dinner I've had in Cardiff.

Couldn’t recommend the North Star enough. There’s always a good selection of entertainment through the week, inc a pub quiz or cabaret. The Sunday lunch is always excellent quality and great value. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and make a real effort to engage with you whilst you’re there. The pub, also, is very dog friendly - they even came to the table to give a small portion of Sunday lunch to our dog when we were there. It was really kind of them and he really enjoyed it! Thanks for a lovely time!

I was a bit skeptical about this place but my word what a place food was stunning and cheap yes I said it cheap and stunning two word's that very rarely go together when it comes to food cheap beer brilliant staff I do recommend popping in if you are passing well worth it

Fabulous atmosphere, food and service

The music is too loud. Impossible to hear anyone. It used to be such a nice place to hang out, now it seems to be run by people who think louder equals more atmosphere.

Constantly close before before their listed closing hours.

Had my partners 40th here in the private area and would highly recommend it as a venue for events for up to 50 people. They put on specially named cocktails relating to my partner and accommodated everything that was asked. The party food came out bang on time and everyone commented on how amazing the food was! So happy we chose to have the party here, everyone loved it and the staff were amazing. Very happy!!!!

Wow, I love this place. It's huge inside, two pool tables. Staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly and welcoming .We had a Shrimp sandwich, which was beautiful. served with chips in a fresh baguette and gorgeous sauce. Well stocked bar and Estrella on tap. We stayed all day and will definitely return.

Drinks are cheap and good, the place is perfect for literally everyone. Definitely going back. They have really good non-alcoholic options as well, my friends got hot chocolates.

Forget the awful location (equally affecting the equally excellent banana restaurant opposite) when you step through the doors the friendly staff ooze the convivial nature of this pub. A good mixed crowd, quiet corners, pool tables, garden, dog friendly, good pub grub!! Don't be fooled by the grey exterior.... it's anything but...👍

It has changed management since summer of 2021 though i didn't actually visit it before my recent visit. Reasonable food, a range of (slightly) fancy lagers and beers, friendly staff. Live sport, live music , pool tables. Pleasant atmosphere!

We were looking for a pub with good reviews and this one had some great reviews for good reason. We went here and ordered the baked goats cheese which was delicious, the crab cakes again delicious, the steak sandwich which had a good amount of steak, the fish and chips the fish was fresh and the chips nice and chunky. The chicken curry was a good size with the samosas a nice touch. The deserts which was a crumble was delicious. I highly recommend here and the single staff member was very nice and polite. Very friendly staff and excellent food! My faughter didn't want Sunday lunch or fish which was the Sunday menu but the staff made us very welcome and made a dish to accommodate us.. no fuss! A++++

I have been to the North Star a couple of times and loved it there, the last time we were there was for a private party and the food was fab

I asked if it wheelchair accessible and had a reply ìt was but when we arrived there was a step and we were carried ìn which was sweet àĺthough the toilet was very accessible which seems very ironic 🤔 great entertainment just a ramp at the door would make it perfect x

Haven't been here for a long time & since I have, it's changed...been 'done up'. It's now a very student oriented pub, bright lights, pool tables, large TV & even on the afternoon I went, loud. Bar staff are friendly & pleasant but the beer is limited in choice & I didn't see any craft beer. Price is OK.

Amazing pub, really clean dishes!

This place is awesome the staff is really friendly there are TVs all over and an outside areas. I am visiting from the us and the staff are really nice and make great drinks. There are TVs all over so you can see any sports that are on there is darts and other games. The outside is big and really cool I was surprised beacuse you can't tell from the front how big it is. If you're in the area and looking for a pub make this a stop.

Too many young people but that's expected in a university town. Will look to adjust with better bands welcoming a wider range of ages

Lovely meal, felt very comfortable and welcomed

I never complain. But honestly the worst. I had roast beef. It was cold. Potatoes were like rubber. I sent back for a hot dish and they microwaved the plate. I couldn't even cut into the beef. They then gave me chicken. Yorkies were springy. I had some sort of battered curried parsnip and the peas had the weirdest taste which I can't describe. The staff were accommodating but I was just disappointed as I'd seen amazing reviews and roast is my favourite dish

Every member of staff I've spoken to here has been LOVELY. if the staff weren't so pleasant I would have knocked a star off. The only really bad point is that I've never had 4G signal, and there's barely any WiFi signal (even though free WiFi is provided yay), I guess that can be great if you're having a phone free time but in terms of ordering right now it's a pain. Please get a WiFi booster guys! However the North Star is clean, nicely decorated, has loads of seating, and a good selection of drinks fairly priced. I haven't been for food myself but I've heard mixed reviews on the veggie Sunday lunch - but great that the option exists all the same. :)

The worst pub quiz I have ever been to. They leave way too long between questions so that you stay longer and pay their extortionate prices. If you’re a quiz person, avoid this pub quiz as the whole experience will aggravate you. 2 stars purely because the food was half decent

Nice place, light and airy with nice staff

When on Thursday for some lunch, all I ate that day. Woke up in the middle of the night vomiting profusely, went to GP, wicked case of food poisoning. Tried multiple times to get on to management, but to no avail. Have contacted environmental health. Avoid at all costs, at least until a thorough inspection is carried out.

Pub is fantastic, met a fool called Derek Parr who ruined my experience a bit, but after a few pints even he was nearly tolerable.

Told off for having a sip of shop-bought coke from the shop alongside my pverpriced pint so left. Attitude problem

Went to the North Star on a a Friday lunchtime, it was lovely. Really good food, quite an imaginative menu, (without being too weird!) Good service and plenty of space to feel safe in. I'm sure we'll be back again soon.
