Nice peaceful place to have a coffee or milkshake and a toastie and read the paper - nice books to browse or buy whilst you are waiting

I wish I could write a positive review, but my husband and I were made to feel very unwelcome. Perhaps I just caught the gentleman at a bad moment, but there really is no excuse for making a customer feel like an inconvenience.

After my dentist appointment I went to this lovely little cafe and I enjoyed a delicious cheese scone with my coffee. The man serving was very pleasant and friendly. A lovely little coffee place in the lovely village of Lavenham. Great thank you 🙏🏼

I return to the nook when I can. The coffee has a lovely smooth flavoursome taste. The best in Suffolk area. The food is excellent quality. The owner is friendly. I highly recommend this place. You will be back for more!

Wonderful coffee and a delicious blueberry and lemon scone. Definitely worth a visit. It’s near the big car park on the way down the hill.

A delightful surprise in Lavenham. We visited to get out of the rain and found a delightful, very small bookshop serving tea, coffee, toasties and cakes. Service was friendly, the toasties were LOVELY and the cake different and tasty. Will visit again if in Lavenham! Recommended!

Lovely cafe in Lavenham, with space to drink coffee, eat cake and read or buy books. What’s not to love.

Always a warm welcome; lovely place to sit quiety with or without company and relax. Music is very quiet and there are loads of books to browse. Amazing toasted sandwiches and warm drinks. I love going here.

If you have an afternoon to while away, what better place could you find? Books to buy, comfy chairs to sit and read, very tasty toasties, seductive cakes and good coffee to round it all off. Ah, the simple things in life - and done so well here!

Thank you Martin for a very tasty light lunch. Members of Hadleigh WI visited this quaint cafe after a beautiful amble through Dyehousefield Woods. Well priced and friendly service. Interesting selection of books with a local connection. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a trip around lavenham. Lovely little cafe which a nice atmosphere. We ordered the Dalgona coffee and the hot chocolate which were both delicious. We also got two toasties - bacon, mozerella and olives in focaccia which were equally yummy. Sadly no crisps or coleslaw as advertised! £7 a toastie is cheaper than many other places in the village so a good spot for a bite. There was a nice selection of cakes but we were too full to try sadly. Maybe next time!

Sweet little café. I have had the opportunity to pop in a few times and I have been greeted by friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere. The coffee is excellent and the treats look delicious. The quirky selection of books is an added bonus. Highly recommend!

Great to find a place without the ubiquitous and intrusive ‘muzak’, well done. Coffee itself was very good, rather an uninteresting selection of cakes so we abstained. Although we were the only customers there was no welcome whatsoever and when we went to pay, no please, thank you or acknowledgement at all. Doubt we’ll be back…

We just stopped off for a cuppa, but then saw the lovely "toasties" menu. We had the ham, cheese and honey mustard on bloomer and it came with crisps and coleslaw -- at only £6.00! Fantastic quality and definitely fantastic value. The cuppa lived up to the standard of the toastie and the whole experience was enhanced by the very friendly and helpful owner. If you are ever in Lavenham, this is a MUST!!! This is not only a cafe, it is also a bookshop where you can browse.

A couple of weeks ago I had a tasty lunch. I had the Jet lounge croissant royal which they kindly served on toast instead of the croissant. 9/10 (would have been 10/10 if the plate had been hot!) I also had a fruit scone but found it a bit too sweet which was a shame. Over all it was a good lunch.

I've been to the Bell under previous management and it was superb, catered for my gluten intolerant Mum brilliantly, staff wonderful & food exceptional. So I had no hesitation on returning....what a mistake that was. We booked a table in the bar in advance. 1. No table in bar, blamed previous employee, no effort made to resolve. 2. Ordered 2 pints of Nethergate but barman began pulling the wrong beer & had to be educated by us. 3. Sparse selection of GF on menu, when previously there had been so much. In particular the beer battered fish is no longer gf 4. Ordered 1 starter & 3 mains (inc 2 x sirloin steaks). Mains arrived with no sign of starter & told the steak was rib eye not sirloin. 5. I was still offered the starter & when I wanted it removed was told I could have it for no charge but who wants the starter after their main (ridiculous). 6. We left at this point with no goodwill gesture offered 7. Just to add insult to injury, my 78yr old Mum used the loo on the way out to find no toilet paper. I'm not in the habit of leaving bad reviews but as the Bell have DELETED my Mums post on their Facebook page, I felt this was important for others to know. If you are GF, Veg or Vegan I would avoid like the plague & if not be wary. We hope they sort it out but notice several other recent reviews mirror our experience, so this wasn't just an 'off day'.

We paid a visit a year ago from the USA (my apologies for the late review). We had a wonderful time, the food was excellent and the host's just the best. Please pay a visit and enjoy their hospitality, you will not be disappointed.
