Great affordable food, alcohol is avg price for the area. Very friendly staff

Food was great as always, but service was a bit off tonight and as a neurodivergent individual I was fairly triggered by this. Waited a whole hour for drinks, but a massive thank you to shantae for her outstanding services, not just for myself and my partner but to every single person in the pub. Although she wasn’t aware of my disabilities, her actions and kind words made the whole experience worth while and was able to calm me down without even realising. So thank you so so much.

This is our local pub and visit iften. However visited today and one of our party wanted a starter as a main meal. Stated when paying this was to arrive at the same time as other mains. 1 persons food arrived and had to wait a further 45 mins for the food for everyone else despite us querying. Ruined the whole night and such a waste of money. Won t be returning. Such a shame as used to be our go to pub but service tonight was really not good.

Awful Food, Microwaved, then set under brains. The lasagne was so cooked, I picked up with my fork and the whole item was on the fork, overcooked and inedible. Garlic bread COLD! MY Husbands curry was not at all fresh and said it was worse than a Microwaveable meal and would cost less! NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!! GET A CHEF THAT CAN COOK!!!!!

Have been here a few times but the place has become really run down and grubby looking. The food was ok but it took over almost an hour for our food to arrive. The live band was unexpected while eating

The food was not bad it's was okay, I was disappointed that the pork tomahawk sizzling plate didn't come out with a sizzle on it. The garlicbread was undercooked and the hunters chicken didn't have any bbq sauce on it. Poor lady behind the bar was serving on her on as it was so busy

Lamentablemente, tenían poco personal y solo podían servir comida a las mesas reservadas, lo habíamos hecho, así que tuvimos suerte. Nos dimos cuenta de que la decoración necesita retoques de nuevo, pero esto no estropeó nuestra visita. Lo recomendaría por la calidad de la comida y buena relación calidad-precio.

Nuestro local, visita regularmente... El personal del bar Holly, Jac, Debbie son fabulosos, los mejores! Desafortunadamente el bar ha sido reorganizado, NO en el buen sentido! ¡Tienes un tablero de dardos donde los chicos vienen con sus propios dardos, no pidiendo bebidas pero tienes la mesa 22 justo al lado! No la habría sentado por elección, pero estaba ocupada, pero no quiero dardos lanzados detrás de mí mientras estaba sentado allí y comiendo (la comida es genial) , No Heath & Safety en absoluto, esperando a ser demandado aquí! Para ser justos con Jac le pidió a un grupo de chicos que esperaran hasta que hubiéramos terminado nuestra comida, entonces amablemente nos pidieron que nos mudáramos, lo que estábamos planeando hacer cuando la gente se hubiera ido y hubiera más mesas disponibles. Reorganícese, retire la mesa 22 donde o una vez que termine el servicio de comida, luego el tablero de dardos está disponible. No gunna termina bien si un cliente termina con un dardo lanzado a ellos comprar una persona intoxicada! ¡Solo digo!

We had an excessive wait for food here on Mothers Day of over 2 hours. We will never use the pub again.

Came on Mother’s Day, waited a 1hr30 mins for our 3 meals and was never told. Table was a mess had to clear and wipe it ourselves. Food came out cold and chips were hard. Asked for steak rare and was well done, forgot our peppercorn sauce and cheese donuts. Didn’t even come over to check had to chase them around and ask they clearly forgot as was only part of the meal that was fresh after waiting 10 mins for that. Gave us peppercorn sauce once he finished the meal. Staff were swearing and huffing and puffing around us, overall bad experience! Also vaping in the garden infront of everyone and was 3 chefs outfront stood at bar at one point.

Nice food ,poor service, rubbish atmosphere

Our local, if you like the sizzling plate brand then it's great. The grill never disappoints and the burgers are a staple. The menu won't blow you away but is reliably good. The atmosphere is pleasant with a more "bar" side with darts and sports and a more "restaurant" side that has quieter music and often families. In the summer, the outdoor seating is superb and the large garden area gives plenty of room for kids to run around. Debbie in particular, makes great long island iced teas and is always willing to go the extra mile to make the customer happy 😊

We had a salmon and a veg and chips and rice. The staff were helpful and courteous, and the food was presented excellently.

Staff were nice, waited 45mins for food to be sent back as covered in cheese when said couldn't eat it, when I came back plastic chicken, frozen chicken bits as if all from Iceland nothing fresh on plate, £3.35 for small Pepsi max shame on you, will not be returning

Este pub está al lado del piso de mi difunto hermano, así que he estado allí con frecuencia. Es muy amable y acogedor, la comida es media pero es un lugar cómodo para ir. Para una mujer soltera me sentía muy a gusto, que no es algo que daría por sentado en un pub. Vi la televisión en mi computadora, buen wifi hizo de esta una manera agradable de pasar la noche. También tiene un jardín precioso. En esta ocasión pedí el salmón chispeante. El plato estaba bien compuesto, pero yo diría que es muy difícil cocinar un trozo de salmón correctamente en una sartén 'chispeante'. Como resultado, el pescado en sí estaba demasiado cocido y un poco en el lado seco, pero las patatas fritas y verduras eran buenas. ¿Quizás el hecho de que sea una cadena les dio a los chefs un poco menos de margen de maniobra? En general no fue una mala comida, pero si el salmón hubiera estado un poco menos hecho habría sido bueno. Lo que hizo que mi visita destacara fueron las dos camareras, que fueron excepcionalmente amables y me hicieron sentir como en casa. Gracias a ellos. Bonito centro de la carretera pero muy bebible copa de vino blanco, en general estaba muy contento.

The food is very good hear+very good size portions. Busy place so I advice you to book a slot online. Fabulous massive beer garden+big car park.

Friendly Welcome every time. First class service with a smile and always goes the extra mile.Always use this Sizzler when in this area. One of the best we’ve been to and we’ve been to a few from Swansea to Weston Super Mare but this comes out on top every time.

The 9 Giants in Cardiff serve lovely food, all cooked well and reasonable pricing for the quality of food being eaten. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service at the Bar area is always efficient. Very nice large outdoor seating area in the gardens. Highly Recommend this Great Pub. Will be back again as always, Thanks, Paul, Cardiff, UK.

Nice staff and beer is good - just let down by some of the visitors - could do with security some nights, I think

Went with husband and 8yr old granddaughter. Ordered 2 steaks 1 well done 1medium rare my granddaughter had fish fingers which she enjoyed. We waited for an hour for our food when it come my husbands was a burnt mess . He had asked for medium rare . It was sent back and we asked for a refund for that meal . Which was given . I emailed them complaining only to receive one back saying we only waited 25 min which is untrue also that my husband was rude to staff which is totally untrue . We were not told of any waiting time as they said we were . Also not told of items that were not available that should have been on the plate ie mushrooms. We were told didn’t have any when asked where they were . Not enough staff

Nos dieron un animado asiento de ventana de la bahía junto al radiador con vistas a la impresionante área de juego y campos de césped adecuados para niños lo suficientemente grandes para jugar al fútbol. Pedí comida que vino en tubería caliente porciones de buen tamaño y una gran relación calidad-precio. El personal era muy amable, especialmente Debbie. El ambiente era genial y toda la visita fue genial. Recomiendo encarecidamente sin duda vale la pena una visita. No se decepcionará.

We were visiting Cardiff and staying nearby when we went to see the football on TNT sports. We’ve never been in the pub before but the staff that were on were amazing and made us feel very welcome. We even took part in a very different type of quiz night (based on family fortunes) and there was such a friendly vibe in this pub! We didn’t actually eat at the pub so I can’t review the food I’m afraid but I gave the food 5 stars in case failure to rate the food would bring the overall rating down. Keep up the good work guys and we hope to visit again soon.

Slow service for food at 6pm. Building cleanliness and toilets were poor.

I’ve been eating at the 9 giants for many many yrs food and service always top tier but today my son’s birthday meal was ruined. Booked a table for 8 for 3pm food took nearly an hr with limited menu despite the pub not being very full our meals came out cold and just thrown together. My daughter can’t have bbq sauce which was told to the staff at the time of ordering yet her burger came out smothered in bbq sauce so we kindly asked for a replacement when within less than a minute the burger was returned still with bbq underneath they had just replaced the top and did not cook her a fresh one. Staff seemed perplexed and not bothered which is shame as we will never return to our local favourite again.

First time visiting this place, I ordered cheesy garlic bread for starters, there was 4 big slices, too much for me,so I shared it with my friends. I ordered Tandoori skewers, which came on a bed of peppers and chilli, I must have bit into a chilli, which was under the chicken skewer.. 🔥🔥 🔥, but all very gorgeous. Te'o ordered fish and chips, which came out huge. The pudding was my daughter's, she absolutely loved it. The lady serving was lovely, she was chatting with me and my friend.

First visit in a long time.. fantastic change too . Good friendly staff good food and a warm welcome. New manager Ian has clearly had an impact.. will make it down here more often, couldn't fault it.

Great pub, welcoming environment and was clean and tidy, toilets are a little dated but we're clean. Food was cheap but tasted good, some bits were cold like the chips and the naan bread that came with the curry was solid were it was over cooked but otherwise was good for the cost. Staff served us quickly and were friendly. If you look young take your I.d they refused to serve my 23year old daughter (in fairness she does look younger and forgot her i.d so her own fault).

We were welcomed by staff shown to our table and meal came promptly. Staff were busy it seemed they had an awful lot of customers to serve and not many of them to do that . Our meals were nice and staff were very helpful at all times

Cansado pub necesita una muy buena limpieza y revisión. La comida no es buena, tenía una envoltura de giros que se suponía que era un pan plano pero era una envoltura. Fue tan masticable que me rendí. Mi hija tenía una hamburguesa sin queso pero vino con queso. Ella le pidió al camarero grosero salsa de hamburguesa y él volvió a quemarla en la hamburguesa. Necesitarías una lupa para encontrarlo. El personal del bar es muy buena lástima que el camarero no pudo aprender de ellos.

Booked table for 2 for lunch. Friendly helpful staff, long-awaited for food, but well worth it. As in previous reviews the toilets are looking a bit sad, the toilets themselves are very clean but paint peeling on doors, floors and window sills dirty let's the lovely pub down

Awful food! Tikka masala tasted like a jar I use at home but without the tarting up! Poppadoms were microwaved and burnt not deep fried. Staff were very friendly though! But I will not be going back!

Such a lovely pub tucked away in Rhiwbina. The food was phenomenal and served quickly, despite them being fully booked. The bar staff were amazingly kind and welcoming too. Beer garden was massive and absolutely stunning too. Well worth a visit!

The food is excellent, but a smell either carpet, curtains or seating, could put people with a weak constitution off their food. The staff were all very good.

My youngest took me and my husband here this evening as it’s my birthday on Sunday and we are away, I haven’t been here in years and was very pleasantly surprised, Debbie was very welcoming and managed to get us a lovely table, what a lovely lady! The food was delicious and atmosphere was very good , we will definitely be back

Después de haber estado aquí una vez antes en el verano, tuvimos una muy buena experiencia, éramos una mesa grande y recuerdo que el servicio y la comida era genial. Estaba feliz de volver como un plan de aniversario de último minuto, desafortunadamente tuvimos una experiencia totalmente diferente. Había mesas grandes muy ruidosas en el restaurante y solo había una señora trabajando detrás de la barra y limpiando mesas, ¿dónde está el personal? Ella era amable pero explicó que había habido una hora atrasada para la comida y que querían cerrar la cocina a las 8 pm, esto fue a las 7 : 59 pm. Ella dijo que iba a consultar con la cocina y pedimos bebidas, dijo que todavía estaban haciendo comida, pero sería una espera de 45 minutos. Pedimos que empezaran los nachos, abrumadores y secos, sin crema agria! O la opción de agregar eso o guacamole, no creía que valían £ 9. Luego pedimos 2 filetes chispeantes que estaban muy bien, aunque no venían con los chisporroteantes pimientos, calabacín y brócoli, solo las cebollas y el tomate a la parrilla. Todavía muy bueno por £ 11 para un solomillo. Desafortunadamente, basado en nuestra experiencia esta vez, no volveremos. Una lástima porque recordaba que era muy bueno la primera vez que vinimos, ¿tal vez problemas de personal? Y porque vinimos un poco más tarde en la noche.

We visited as we had been emailed a voucher for 40% off mains, only trouble was we got 40% less food. It was a shocking experience from start to finish. There wasn't anyone to greet us on the way in so we decided to seat ourselves, and it was at this point that some obtuse female staff member appeared to tell us that we were stood in a reserved area and that we need to move. The area was not corndened off nor we're there reserved signs on the tables, so I then explained that I had reserved a table and her reply was , name?, what a charming individual she really was. This place is full of locals and regulars whom clearly are welcome, but everyone else is a nuisance, needless to say we won't be returning. The whole building is scruffy and unkempt and in need of demolition!

2024 update 3 stars. Tables could be cleaner. Glass had lipstick on. Ordered on app this time. Food arrived 25 mins. Wasn't quite what we expected. (Chopped salad promised cucumber, ginger and pineapple dressing, crispy onions which were all missing). Nevertheless very small portion but was tasty. Loo's still not great. Seemed overrun as we entered and needed more staff. Wasn't clear who was staff and wasn't though. 2022 update Still 4 stars. Breakfast this time. Delicious but 45 minute wait which we didn't mind as food was lovely. Loo's not as fresh like last time. Excellent price. No WiFi so download the app before you go. 2018 Cheap, cheerful and variety menu. Had a friendly welcome tonight and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Would have given 5 star but disabled facilities awkward and could be fresher. Will be back.

No frills, just cheap and cheerful.

Popped in early evening for a reasonably priced meal with my family. Very busy at the time therefore quite a long wait. Food when it arrived was quite good for the price. Only downside was that there is no childrens playground area to keep the little ones amused during the wait.

The food was outstanding, steak was cooked to perfection (grandson loved it) and the sizzling tandoori chicken was so succulent and tasty and tender. Dessert s fabulous xxWill be back

Lovely venue…great grounds for the kids to run around and lovely staff but the food is shocking. Been 3 times now (not my choice) and every time the food has been dreadful, so not just down to a bad day; which can happen….no reflection on the lovely staff but something is not quite clicking with this place and it’s a shame. Sorry guys.

Was really surprised with this pub, been to so many chain pubs where the food is average at best. The food here was lovely, service was good and they had a really nice outside area for the kids. I left thinking, well worth the money, which is unusual these days!

It's OK. We sat outside where there was a big beer garden, with trees and small grass area for football. Not overly pretty but not unattractive either. There are plenty of parasols and other shades. Staff were friendly and efficient, but it did take more than 20 minutes for our food to arrive. We had a mega mixed grill, chicken gyros and kids pizza. Mixed grill was medium rather than rare but tasted good. Gyros was not completely as Devon the menu. It was chicken donner rather than chunks and served with garlic sauce as opposed to tzatziki. Shame. But still tasty, just not what expected. Food was reasonably priced. Poor selection of wines and interesting ales/largers. We would stop here again if passing.

I’m a regular at the nine giants but after today I won’t be returning. My mum and I were in the queue to order food. There was a long queue out the door as it was very busy but this wasn’t the issue. We were in the queue for almost 20 minutes and a ‘local’ pushed right to the front because he wanted another beer. A man behind me who was obviously a friend of this man told him to get in the queue. He replied that he’s not queuing to get his drink. When we got to the front to be served I informed them that this guy should of waited his turn like everyone else and it’s not right he be served knowing others are waiting while he can just push in and demand his drinks. The man was clearly drunk and was shrugging his shoulders at me and my mum. He told me not to have a go at the staff in which I replied that I didn’t I was merely informing her that everyone else had to queue and so should he. My young daughter then come up to me asking if everything was ok and he continued to make comments. It seems drunk ‘ locals’ come first in this place and can treat other customers as they wish in their drunken states. Would not advise bringing families here to eat. We decided we would go somewhere else and left. Very very poor from the nine giants.

Always made very welcome, food good & value for money. Only one gripe - decor needs an upgrade. We both had Classic mixed grill , always good food but last night was exceptionally good .

Quick and friendly service. Great atmosphere. My only criticism would be that I don't feel that there is enough of a vegetarian range.

Friendly pub, food was lovely and came to the table in no time. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

It said 30 minute wait on food which was fair enough and when they let you know in advance you don't feel cross over having to wait. Food was excellent value for money and I am happy to return.
