The Nine Giants in Cardiff

If you come to this pub wear a thick coat scafe hat and gloves as it's freezing No heating on We was going to have a meal but after a couple of drinks decided to go home as it was so cold We will not be visiting again and will spread the word!

Today I have had a 5oz steak chips vegetables and corn on the cob the vegetables were really random like their was courgettes and squash but the steak was really nice so was the chips but the corn on the cob was really soft and the other one looked like it has been eaten then boiled for 10 years it was so bad I was really disappointed because I have been here before and the food was pretty good. The service was ok but they were very short staffed there were literally three people working there the thing I most annoyed with my experience was the corn on the cob it was so bad but there was these kids that were booting a football at the window like every three seconds it was really annoying so this is my review.

Just had their ribs, which were excellent and quite reasonably priced. Will return. The bar is generally understaffed, and it takes quite a long time to get served. No option to order online is available. December 2023 update: Online ordering is now available!

I had a lovely meal with my daughter and l had a perfectly cooked rump steak! Staff were lovely. We will be back soon!

Me and my wife and both children loved the food and the staff was amazing and friendly we will be back soon and will share our experience with other people about the nine giants.

We always receive great service & very tasty meals too. Plus our very young 16 month old Grandson is always made very welcome by the lovely staff.

Came here with my 8 and 10 year old for lunch on a Saturday. The atmosphere was lovely, lots of families here. My two had a meal deal for £5.99 which included food, drink and a sundae. I had grilled chicken skewers which was lovely. The staff were super friendly and very attentive. The food was super hot served and only took about 15 minutes. I was very good value for money. I would definitely recommend it.

It was fairly quiet, so I was able to order immediately on arrival. Food did not take long to arrive. All good. We have waited much longer in the past, when it has been busier.

Groupon voucher declined at point of ordering. I would like to express my disappointment in the handling of this situation. The voucher was a key factor in choosing your facility, and its rejection created an inconvenience. There were no voucher restrictions, just I’m sorry we can’t accept this voucher as we can’t put it through the till. I believe transparency and effective communication are crucial in maintaining customer satisfaction. I hope this feedback serves as an opportunity to enhance your voucher redemption process.

Have used this pub for years. Food is always of a high quality and have always received an excellent service. It is family friendly with a nice beer garden. Food and drinks are reasonably priced. Adam, Josh and the team are always welcoming and go above and beyond to meet expectations.

Brilliant pub for food, we had the loaded surf and turf and steak and chicken combo with an upgrade to a sirloin and they both were cooked to perfection. We were shown to our table straight away, service was brilliant quick service at the bar even though it was really busy and food service was on point to. Thank you to all the nine giants team we will definitely be returning soon.

Went for a birthday lunch today and I have to say that our food was lovely. Steak was cooked to perfection. Food was hot, didn’t feel rushed by staff. The staff were friendly and it was a lovely atmosphere. Will be visiting again.

Food let us down this evening but our amazing server Chante rectified this in a professional and friendly manner and made everything so much better, fantastic server, shift manager Holly also asked about our experience and was keen to put things right, despite the food issue the staff made our experience so positive, will be returning soon

Nothing special but nothing wrong. Fairly standard fare. Not a huge menu choice. Choose a table number at pay at the bar. It's ok.

We shared a wonderful day at the Nine Giants on Saturday 23rd December the lovely staff made our visit perfect I have to say in every way . They selected a cosy table we requested , served us promptly and with a genuine smile and went out of their way to seek and find a particular drink for one of our party . The food was served hot and in no time . We didn't feel rushed , the staff checked that our plates were all correct and that we were happy with everything . Considering it was so close to 🎄 and such a busy day they still had time for us . It was lovely .Thank-you looking forward to visiting again .

Lively and lovely little pub, had a Christmas meal here as part of a large party and the food was very good. All came out together and everyone commented on how nice it all was.

We try to visit here at least once per week, usually on a Saturday as there is live entertainment. We have a meal, a couple of drinks and have a great evening. Adam, Josh, Holly, Katie, to name just a few, are always, happy, enthusiastic, polite and attentive!! We are booked in for Christmas Day too, so that shows in what high regard we hold the Nine Giants, which is totally because of the team that help to make it what it is!!

Had a lovely meal on Friday evening. The jerk chicken skewers were beautiful. And what a bonus to join in the quiz hosted by Debbie who had served us at the bar too such a lovely lady . Will definitely return .

Had food with family today took over an hour and some food on plate was cold some staff were quite miserable we used to love going here for food but very disapointed with food today and customer service

They seemed to be understaffed, and the wait for the food was over 40 mins without expectations from anyone, I am sure they can do better as we have experienced better here. The food was good for the price.

We were a party of 15 from ages 2 to 82! We had just come from my dad's Interment. We placed a big order. The barman that took our order was fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. I was able to have a bit of a laugh with him. Food all came out on time so we could all eat together. Well done all!!!

Had a really good time there last night for my better half's belated Birthday. The meals that the four of us ordered were absolutely amazing. The Staff were very helpful in keeping her Birthday surprise cake hidden away in the kitchen. All together a very enjoyable night was had by us all. We had a family get together here, there were 12 of us & each meal was exceptional! Staff were super friendly & couldn’t do enough, very accommodating with the children & drinks were also very reasonable. Lovely surroundings, beer garden is especially good & we were made to feel very welcome. Will definitely be returning & thinking about booking our Xmas day with them. Also have a great events itinerary with regard to sporting events & live music. 10/10!

What a lovely pub! Staff are all so friendly & attentive. My children love their garden to play in & the range of food and drinks are amazing and the food quality is incredible considering the price , cheap as chips. Would highly recommend. Thank you.

Visited here for a quick lunch, we’ve been many times before and this isn’t my first review but it seems previous comments have been ignored!!!!!!!! The staff are lovely, could do with more behind the bar, especially as it was a bank holiday. The food was good, my steak was really nice. However, what spoils it is the level of cleanliness. The garden was littered with serviettes, used plates with seagulls eating leftovers, there was even a nappy on the grass. Dogs should NOT be allowed to run around they should be kept on a lead at all times, there are young children playing and it’s dangerous. But worst of all is the “chefs whites” they most certainly are not white. A chef came out into the lounge area and it looked like she had been slaughtering animals. Her jacket was filthy as was the cloth she used around her waist. There is no excuse for this, clearly the uniform had been worn more than once without washing it. Come on managing staff sort it out. The general pub itself needs a damn good clean the tables in the garden all need to be disinfected every day as the seagulls land on then the tables and chairs inside need the same. The table legs Are dusty and food stained. There is no excuse for the staff being in dirty clothes and no excuse for having a dirty pub. I used to come here with my parents many years ago when it was run by Joy, it was spotless and smart you’d never see rubbish and dirty clothes. So step up and sort it out, be proud of the place.

Cheap and cheerful, good food for such low prices. We went for the nachos but sad to see they changed them to dorritos but they taste good never the less.

We’ve been here quite a few times over the last few months, can honestly say we’ve not had a bad meal. The staff are also efficient and friendly.

Ordered some drinks then found all the tables were occupied or reserved. Sat at a reserved and thought we’d get another table later. Found an unreserved only to be told ‘yeah, we need to put a sign on that’. Ordered food thinking we’d have plenty of time to be gone before the reservation kicked in. Queue for drinks was out of the door even though most tables were reserved with no one sitting at them. Food took ages but eventually arrived, asked about the garlic butter that seemed absent to be barked at that it’s already all over everything as she turned on her heel and left. I picked up a piece of veg to taste if that was the case, didn’t bother as it was refrigerator cold, bearing in mind this was sat on what was supposed to be a sizzling skillet. The side of Mac cheese looked half eaten, a tiny portion with dried cheese up the side of the dish, I honestly thought it was leftovers picked from a vacated table and dumped in front of me. Add to this the fact that three groups of people who had arrived after us had been shown to an unreserved table! The same person who had shown no customer service and had delivered the food, I think she may have been a manager as she wasn’t wearing the same type of uniform as the others, reluctantly felt how cold the food was and said ‘fine,I’ll replace it’. There was no point, by that time we’d have had no where to sit. I pointed out that she’d sat other people who’d arrived later and ignored us, the reply was that she had no idea we were looking for a table, I mentioned I’d spoken to her before about the unreserved table without a sign, ‘yes, you did but they’re sat there now’ I wasn’t looking for an argument but just wondered, ok did you know or not know we were looking for a table, make up your mind. Fine, I’ll refund you’. She didn’t even have the courtesy to come back with the refund and sent someone else. Whilst I acknowledge the refund, we still went there and spent £21 on four pints plus the one meal for one who dined alone, which wasn’t our point of going there. No sorry or I’ll get you a quick sandwich for you to wolf down before we throw you off the table (although the lady who was sent with a fistful of coins as the refund, I think they were trying to make a childish point, was very polite). Shocking behaviour that doesn’t deserve custom.
