The Nine Elms Tavern in Wandsworth

We've been here before, maybe a year ago and the experience was good, however on this occasion it was poor. We selected what we wanted from the website menu however when we arrived it was apparent that the website menu was out of date; some of our selections were not on the table menu. Two of our party selected Sausages and mash but there were no sausages so had to select something else. Three of us ordered fish & chips but bizarrely there was no vinegar available. It's the first establishment I've ever been to where you couldn't get vinegar with fish and chips. One of our party ordered a burger which was supposed to have two patties but was more like one and a half. He went to complain about it but nobody came back to us. When paying at the bar I mentioned the burger issue and the guy I was talking to went off to check with the server and he knocked this meal off the bill. I also pointed out that they had missed £60 worth of wine off the bill. He added it on to the bill but I didn't get any thanks for this. Wish I hadn't bothered now. I feel that the main issue however was the demeanour of the staff. Instead of "I'm awfully sorry we've ran out of vinegar" and maybe an explanation of why, it was "we haven't got any vinegar". It wasn't " I'm really sorry, we've had a run on the sausages and there aren't any left" or something like that, it was "we haven't got any sausages", It wasn't "we're really sorry the burger meal wasn't up to our usual standard" or something like that, it was "I've knocked it off the bill". It wasn't "oh, that's really good of you to let us know we'd missed the wine off the bill" or something like that. It was, well nothing really, it just got added to the bill. It was if having customers there was an inconvenience to the staff. There was minimal eye contact, no smiles and avoiding contact with customers as much as possible appeared evident. Wish we had gone somewhere else. We certainly won't be going again. I'm writing this in response to an email from the Nine Elms Tavern saying that my option matters. It will be interesting to see what, if any, response I get to this.

Nice play, nice location and a greta choice of beer but the food (especially for me as a vegan) just want that nice. Three very cheap looking alternative sausages, a small pile of mash and some cabbage... it was a ll a bit school dinners sadly. The rets of the place and other food looked okay.

I went for a pint and such a lovely surprise! With my pint I get delicious slice of pizza. I choose vegan one. It was stunning. Fresh courgette, peas, mint pesto, smoked cheese, dried tomatoes. Omg! Want more! Coming back shortly. Very friendly staff! Especially Harry!

Lovely location. Nice inside. But the food was awful - old rubbery haddock inside dried up bread with a molecule deep amount of tartar sauce. Felt sick after eating it.

Booked for New Years Eve. Booking process was simple, a confirmation text was sent the day before. Welcome was warm and friendly, service efficient and very friendly. Food was good, maybe a little slow but it was New Years Eve, a lot of tickets hit a small kitchen at once and we were never made to feel forgotten about. The atmosphere was perfect for New Year, up beat, friendly but not manically busy. As an added bonus it was also great value. Food and drinks for the evening for 4 people on New Year, circa £150. The best ‘til last, the staff. Just fantastic, worked so hard, made us feel like we were the only people in a busy pub who were friends, not told strangers as we were, warm, friendly and helpful. Would highly recommended.

Huge thanks to Simon and the team at The Nine Elms Tavern. It was a bit of a gamble on our part to entrust someone else with our usual home cooked Christmas meal, and we were not disappointed. Exceptional service, lovely food and great location. I look forward to coming back to TNET in the future.

We hosted a work christmas party at the Nine Elms Tavern and had a great experience. Communication before the event around making the booking and pre-ordering was really useful and the staff were very responsive. The space was lovely. The staff were all super friendly and all the food came out on time and as ordered. The sizes of the sharing platters were idea and the vegan burgers were delicious. We had no issues at all.

Came here for a Sunday roast and although the foot itself was good, what we initially received was not as described on the menu. 'Creamy leeks' were just some stir fried (and slightly burnt) leeks with no hint of cream or sauce of any kind. My yorkshire pudding was stone cold, not just cool, but cold. My veggie roast came without the crushed root mash and the 2 roast pork dishes came without the apple sauce that it clearly said it came with. This meant that i was up and down trying to find someone to bring us what was supposed to come with the roast and whilst we received a heated up yorkshire pudding and the root mash, we never received the advertised creamed leeks. My gravy (I had the veggie roast which was a delicious beetroot and mushroom wellington) was completely inedible as it was so incredibly salty - even my salt loving son almost spat it out! Once we'd finished our meal, we sat there for about 30-40 mins and nobody ever came to ask if everyone was OK or clear our plates. There was one poor girl on the bar trying to serve drinks and take orders whilst other staff sat in the corner on laptops until one of them finally realised that perhaps she could do with a hand. The staff were all very pleasant and apologetic about the things that were wrong but this shouldn't happen, especially when a pub is not in the slightest bit busy as it was was when visited.

Best Sunday lunch in London! Had the chicken and the beetroot wellington and both were perfect!! Simon served us and was so positive and gave great recommendations for wine pairings!!

Celebrating a 70th birthday. We love Youngs menus.....simple hearty food. Sat down at the table....downloaded the QR code to order....no steak pie, no sausage & mash, no mushroom pie etc etc Really depleted main course menu. Disappointed.....walked out.

Visited here for a work party and have to say had an amazing time. Very professional leading up to the booking and was very well looked after. We had prosecco on arrival and delicious sharing slider boards. Would very much recommend for a party and will definitely be visiting for their sunday lunch

I turned 50 this year and to celebrate held a party for family and friends. As part of the planning I visited a number of potential venues in early 2023, including this one, and whilst I ended up going elsewhere was very impressed with the location and the staff members I met. Fast forward a few months and my partner and I decided to take my parents for lunch as part of a visit to Battersea Power Station. I booked a table through the website and got a confirmation text. (Oddly there seems no way to get e-mail confirmation when booking online). We arrived slightly early and went to the bar to say we had a reservation for lunch. The lady we spoke to seemed surprised and rather than direct us to where we were sitting simply said “go and find yourself a table”. Rather taken aback by this unprofessional attitude we walked into the restaurant area to see where there were spare tables. I went back to the bar to check it was fine to sit on our preferred location, and at this point noticed the food menu on the bar. This looked very different to the one we had remembered seeing on the pub website, which had a lot of fish and seafood. When we asked another member of bar staff about this we got a further surprised look, and then a response that the pub had no chef at present and as a result a reduced menu. The new menu was basic pub grub and did not appeal, so given that and the fact the staff on duty seemed totally disinterested we walked out. We walked up to Battersea Power Station and had a great lunch at Wagamamas. This was a very disappointing experience, even more so because we have eaten in a number of other Young’s pubs and been very happy with the food and service. We will not be returning and would recommend new management is appointed as soon as possible to sort this place out.
