The Castle in Wandsworth

The place came recommended by the great london bake but I have absolutely no idea why. The service was chaotic. We saw our food and drinks be taken to different tables and likewise had other peoples orders brought to us. Staff were running around like lost sheep trying to figure out the chaos - and I wouldn't even say it was a particularly busy time of day. When the food arrived it was cold, unseasoned and generally just poor quality. We had to send a meal back twice because it wasn't cooked. We gave up in the end and left with only half our party have eaten. While the staff tried to accommodate us and the issues, I'd say this place is massively let down by the quality produced in the kitchen. Definitely overpriced and underwhelming. Will not be back and have warned several people about our experience.

Booked a table for 4 people to watch the 6 nations. Unfortunately The Castle had shoved us in a corner with partial view for only half of our party. Clearly overbooked and we had to suffer for it. Avoid for sports.

I had high hopes for The Castle in Tooting, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The service, while friendly, was chaotic—our orders kept getting mixed up, and it seemed like there was a serious lack of coordination. When the food did arrive, it was underwhelming. Everything was bland and lacked seasoning, making for a thoroughly forgettable meal. The worst offender was my mum’s gammon. What she actually received was a cold, sad-looking piece of ham with a fried egg hastily slapped on top. It looked awful and had to be sent back. She opted for fish and chips instead, but that too had to be returned as the chips were undercooked. On the plus side, the staff were very accommodating, offering a free round of drinks and a discount as an apology. Their efforts were appreciated, but unfortunately, it didn’t make up for the poor quality of the food. While the team was lovely, it seems the chef may still be working through his BTEC cooking course. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend eating here—there are plenty of better options in Tooting.

Great pub in the centre of Tooting. Busy garden on sunny days, especially with current social distancing measures. Standard london pricing and the usual Young's pub offering. Good option for working during the week too

2025 review: I’ve been coming here on numerous occasions with friends and family over the years. Not only does The Castle have the vibe of a friendly neighbourhood Young’s pub, but the friendly staff, restaurant area and outside seating really ties the whole experience together. With a sizeable range of lagers, ciders, non alcoholic beers and cask ales on offer, as well as a range of hot beverages, it’s a nice environment for drinkers and teetotallers alike. Only thing I’d say is that there’s no real hot beverage menu, you may have to ask a staff member. 2018 review: Great decor, service and music! Nice selection of Teapigs teas too when one isn't in the mood for drinking.

The pub is really nice. Clean, neat and well organized offers a pleasant atmosphere. Sometimes the music can be too loud. The food was good and the drinks were as well. Went there quiet often, but the last time the beer was a bit different - like was not fresh. Overall, was satisfied. 🙂

If I could give this pub 10 stars I would. I recently celebrated my 30th birthday here and the food, atmosphere and service were all AMAZING! There was something on the menu for everyone and the servers were so organized, kind and professional. Big thank you to Charlotte who was very attentive to detail and helped make my 30th so memorable! Will definitely be back soon and will highly recommend The Castle for a special event or a fun night out!

We Don’t know the area at all but was pleasantly surprised by how gastro cool this pub was. We opted for the Sunday roast beef- compliments to the chef who cooked that meat to perfection- it fell apart in my mouth, roast potatoes were hot crunchy and well seasoned- I can honestly say it felt like a proper home cooked roast dinner. The staff were just really nice and pleasant, obvious to see they actually enjoy working in this pub - they worked well as a team you could hear them having quiet banter between each other, which was lovely to be seated in a happy environment Price -,standard London prices ££ 2 x roast beef 1 bottle of red 1 non alcoholic beer 1 dessert Including tip was £103 Good job guys x

Atmosphere looked really good but when we arrived despite having a table booked when we were sat by the servers it took over 20 minutes to get served and when they came over eventually and we went to order they said all the food we wanted they had run out off.

Had Sunday lunch there yesterday, lovely place to eat, very friendly staff. Chloé looked after us and she was brilliant. Smile on her face, and there to help. Highly recommended and thanks Chloé.

Este es un pub de Young en su mejor momento. Los precios de las bebidas están en el lado más alto de casi cualquier lugar. Seis de la tarde en un miércoles por la noche y every_single_table en la parte delantera del pub (no restaurante) tenía una baldosa "reservada" en ella (así que la sala de pie solo para nuestros £ 7 + pintas). En serio... ¿se supone que es un pub? Qué pena. Recuerde cuando este era un lugar grotty independiente que era real hasta el núcleo y 1000% mejor. El personal sonrió lo que justifica el 2 / 5.

Went in for a pint and came out with an appreciation for fantastic service. I was greeted by Angus with a stunning smile and fantastic hospitality. He took my difficult order with ease and left me with my beverages and a smile from ear to ear. Thank you to Angus and an honourable mention to Chloe! Keen to become a local!

Had a lovely Christmas Day dinner with the family. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

Unless you're only one at the bar you have to flag down bar staff to serve you, they ended up serving people who arrived after me even though 2 of the bar tenders clearly saw me before them as I was standing there for 5 min, need to be more attentive as to who came next isn't that the role for the bar tender? Food was ok quite bland but will say atmosphere and decor is great.

Lucy and Noah were incredible and so accommodating, especially with certain dietary requirements we had, couldn’t have asked for better service!🫶🏻

Came for pre Xmas drinks with my friends and a lovely young girl called Lucy (I think) helped me secure a table as I have a bad leg. She also directed me to the toilet and when she brought my food out she couldn't help me enough! The atmosphere was lovely but felt very safe. The whole place was clean (although the toilet had run out of paper). We will be back again!

Had to drop a star for the service since the table wasn't labelled as ours when we arrived but bar service was reasonably efficient. The outdoor area is spacious and indoors pretty good. General vibes was great with a good crowd, a couple tunes towards the end had ppl singing along which tells you a lot about the atmosphere. Good for night out with friends!

We dined for lunch here, 35 of us, Christmas do, with kids. It was bloody mental, but the food was great, on time, hot & delicious. & Jenny our server was amazing, nothing phased her, she was kind to the kids. Brilliant pub, will definitely be back!!

Initially I was hesitant in making a booking here as 2 years ago we didn’t have a great experience however trust Jo with our order and the entire organisation was one of the best decisions I made. We arrived 15 mins early for our booking. Only to unfortunately find out that it had been rejected. turns out the Booking System "confirmation" is only a confirmation of a request to book. Consequently as the bar (and quiz) was fully booked we were left without a spot. We had been notified by Jo, via email that there was no space, but of course we hadn't read the email. However, very quickly we were provided a table in the restaurant, and no sooner than we had sat down the lovely staff had pulled up a table for us to join the Quiz. So big thank you to Jo, Harvey, and the team you guys nailed it.

Food took around an hour to come, no apology or even recognition of this from the staff. Food was a mix of quality from very good (the pie) to very poor (the plant burger)

Jackson was the best. He delivered great service, was attentive, and always had a smile on his face. I trully enjoyed the experience in The castle.

Brilliant venue ,lots of space and staff always on hand to assist. We reserved 2 mini castles outside and this was excellent for mingling and also for younger kids to have their space . We had around 30 guests for my husbands 50th get together and this was lovely and liked by all. Pre-order of drinks and afterwards some canapes was very well organised. Thanks so much Castle Team!!

Absolutely amazing night last night out the the girls @ the castle! Had the fish and chips and it was stunning. Our waitress Ella was so lovely. Very personable, amicable, and so smiley. Wishing her the best of luck in her Midwifery career!! Definitely be coming back.

Such a gorgeous pub!! I booked one of their outside huts for a group of 20 of us for my birthday after we’d done the Big London Bake! Such a perfect space, service was always good & fast, good selection of drinks and food too!!!

First time coming to this spacious pub, in the heart of Tooting. Nicely decorated and it has a welcoming vibe. Came on a Thursday evening and it was quite busy. We sat in the cabin area, and it had a really cosy atmosphere. I look forward to coming back.

The scores for food & service would have been a lot more had it not been for a serious error on the three orders of sausage and mash. Lamb & Apricot sausage turned out to be pork sausage which was unacceptable especially to one of our party

A superb evening. We learnt, we laughed, and we loved.

Great service and atmosphere. However the security man at the door was very dismissive and unhelpful. He did not allow me to go back in to look for a present that I had left behind in the outside booth. He refused to make an exception to allow me to retrieve my presents which meant by the next morning it was no longer there. This was very disappointing.

I don’t go here unless it’s for someone’s birthday drinks.

Staff are super friendly and helpful. The pub is very clean and well decorated. The roast dinner is not good value for money, I'd skip that but the small plates are nice and tasty. Baby changing/disability access and toilets are good.

Amazing, booked a cabin in the garden, was a bit of a squeeze but quality drinks served to our table quickly even when the bar was busy, highly recommend!

The roast roast was bland, hardly any gravy and only received ONE carrot and a tiny bit of veg. I ordered the "all in" so was very disappointed with this. The cauliflower cheese OMG was DREADFUL!! It has no flavour and was very dry inside.

Off peak, you can actually relax in the Castle pub garden. This is in stark contrast to Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday when the whole place is rammed, buzzing and overrun with sound. I was recommended the handmade chicken and leak pie by the server and had a pint of Asahi which was perfect. Though the pie I later found out was £19.50, making it the most expensive pie in the history of pub cooking! It was of a high quality and did indeed seem to be hand crafted by someone who knew what they were doing. A memorable and positive meal with buttery mash and greens. It was one of the last days of intense sunshine for the year, so everyone was making the most of the list last blast of heat and the mood was relaxed, friendly and enjoyable. A very pleasant experience. Recommended.

Amazing food, great ambience, one of the cleanest pubs I’ve been to and with good bartenders the experience of wine acts as a catalyst to the meal. Highly recommended, take your girls out on a date or your family for your celebration, these guys have it all!

Never been here before but attended a birthday gathering. Blown away by gorgeous beer garden , cool booths, great service by lovely staff and probably the best ( chicken) burger I’ve ever had.

The beef was not cooked fully. With the insane cost of a beer I will not go back there for food.

I hired the Orangery area in The Castle, Tooting on Friday 23rd August for a wake. My booking was handled by Lucy with the assistance of Brad and Matt. Our party was about 80 people. Lucy and the team were truly wonderful. Lucy was very sympathetic to the fact that we had lost a dear friend which we appreciated highly. The venue was well organised and the team attended to all of our needs attentively. The venue is light and airy in appearance and an ideal location for a party of 70 - 100 people as organised. The menu is varied and everyone was able to order something to their liking. I highly recommend The Castle, Tooting as a venue for a modestly sized function.
