Sensational service. Finn,Charlie,Maddy and Louie really went above and beyond to provide a great service for me and my friend. I see a pay rise on the horizon for them.

Impeccable service today. Had a reservation for 19.00. Charlie helped get us settled in, got our orders and drinks quickly. Louie and Maddy were great with customer service and making our drinks. And Finn made sure we were enjoying our meals and drinks at all times. Could shed a tear for the service they provided

Booked a table. Turned up on time. No table. Had to go elsewhere. Had a confirmation and everything. Spent my hard earned cash at another restaurant. Poor show when you want locals to support your business.

Had my 30th birthday drinks in the back room at the Althorp and it was absolutely fantastic. Food spread was great, staff were extremely attentive and the setup itself was perfect. Huge shout out to Sofiia who managed the bar area, sorted music, cake and everything else we needed. A great time was had by all!

Great foot and atmosphere always at the Althorp. Recently been served by Sofia who always looks after us well even when the pub is busy. Sunday roast is one of the best in the SW areas. Lovely local pub.

I’m quite surprised the review count is not higher. We found the service absolutely exceptional - busy Saturday night, approaching Christmas and the tables were always cleared and wiped clean. Service was prompt and friendly, food very decent and drinks cold and lovely! Thank you

What a lovely place to be as everything from the service, management, standards, FOOD and atmosphere was amazing. I had the day boat fish that I was told comes in every day fresh and changes regularly, my friend had the fish and chips who was happy to hear it was gluten free although not a pre requisite. I saw some other dishes go out as I was curious from what is an entirely new menu, and can’t wait to come again for some other dishes. Beers taste like they are better taken care of than any pub I have been to in recent times and some great choices for wines with descriptions to boot. They will definitely see me again soon, whatever the manager is doing keep it up!!

Althorp is the best place for a drink, dinner or party. We brought a family table of 8 for a special holiday dinner, and couldn't have been happier with the pub, the food and the service. There are so many chain pubs in London masked as locals, but at the Althorp, Sofia and James and their team treat you and your guests lilke best loved VIPs every time.

Just enjoyed an excellent taster menu at our local in advance of the Xmas day celebration. The new head chef at The Althorp provided a wide range of meal options, all completely delicious. As usual the staff were friendly, chatty and delightful.

AMAZING!!! Cannot recommend enough. James was incredible - kind, accommodating, & made our night fun! James & the chefs were amazing enough to hand mark a menu with gluten free options (lots!) and 2 of our party are Celiac! Sofia was great as well, very welcoming & took great care of us! Best fish & chips any one of our party has had, hands down! Had 2 young kids who loved it here too! Great food, great atmosphere, & above all even better people!

Love the Althorp. Been coming here for years. Great local pub with a cozy atmosphere, right by the common. The menu changes regularly and the chefs are fantastic - I had an extraordinary pork chop, that’s hard to get right…. Shout out to James for his great service.

James y los chefs eran lo suficientemente increíble para marcar a mano un menú con opciones sin gluten (mucho! ) y 2 de nuestra fiesta son celíacos! Gorgeous and cosy, The Althorp is our new favourite little local in Wandsworth. The new manager, Richard, is brilliant and welcoming, and Sophia's service was very warm and also welcoming. We had the Day boat fish chowder and my god, is that chowder good. The food has really improved in the last few months and I recommend it highly - props to the chef! Cheers guys, see you soon!

Great place to take kids for tea! The staff were super accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious and it had an all round cosy atmosphere.

As a local, I absolutely love this place. Service is near always impeccable and my girlfriend and I love the roasts. We come frequently for drinks and it’s a lovely place. James, one of the bartenders, is especially helpful and friendly, making coming to the Althorp a fantastic experience!

We are so pleased that the old manager (Chris) left the Althorp! It makes all the difference and brings the great atmosphere back to our local favourite pub. The old manager created unpleasant atmosphere including making us annd our son uncomfortable and plainly unwelcome in the pub, including telling him to leave. The staff are lovely and we really enjoyed this evening: good food and atmosphere and importantly awesome staff. Good to have the place back to awesome!

We threw a last minute retirement party at The Althorp on Saturday. The initial communication during the booking process with the head office could be improved - it was quite confusing (e.g. suggesting pre-orders then when we sent the pre-order through we were told we'd missed the deadline). This made us a little anxious in the run up to the day, but as soon as we met James our anxiety was eased and we knew we were in good hands. He could not have done more to help us out, going above and beyond to provide wonderful service and he took the stress out of the day for us. He made all of our guests feel very welcomed, provided added value (such as table service which allowed us to spend more time celebrating), and he also kept us updated throughout the day as to how our tab was tracking. Other staff that we came across were also great. Thank you for a great experience!

I went for the pub quiz (which in itself was immensely fun!). The atmosphere of the pub in general was extremely welcoming and vibrant. The food was delicious, however the real standout was the service and the staff, all of whom made me feel extremely welcome. I’d absolutely go back in a heartbeat. Thanks Althorp!

top pub with a 10/10 sunday roast! perfectly priced too!

One of the first places I've visited since I moved in the area. The food is great and good value, the atmosphere is vibrant and joyous, and the staff is charming! Just walk past and it's easy to see why this place is so popular! I recommend the vegetarian options (but would advocate for even more)!

Best Sunday roast in Wandsworth

We went with a group of 6. Service was quite slow, they seemed to forget about us as we were sitting in the back room. I asked for a recommendation between the bavette steak and the gnocchi and the waitress said she wouldn’t choose either as personally she didn’t like the dishes and she said people keep sending them back! I tried my luck and went with the steak which was actually nice but slightly cold. Due to the service, we felt it was fair to discreetly knock off a bit of service charge when splitting the bill but the waitress bluntly asked for the remaining amount we had left off, which we weren’t obliged to pay given her service, and this came across as quite rude. On a more positive note, the margheritas were delicious!

£7 a pint - better get on only fans to afford these prices

One of the better roasts in South West London (that I have tried). The pub has a good sized dining room at the back and they accept dogs.

First time here. Pleasant enough pub. Beer not bad. Nice view of Wandsworth Common. Good for families. Worth a visit 🙂

Friends who live in the area spoke so highly of this pub. Looked great and cozy from the outside. Once we stepped inside we were unfortunately “greeted” with a rather unfriendly host. She asked immediately if we had a reservation - which was confusing as usually pubs don’t require bookings. We felt shamed for not making a booking. She said there was a table she could offer us for 1 hour, and reminded us more than once “that’s all we have; everything else is reserved.” It was just an uncomfortable and unfriendly experience. You could tell they didn’t want us there. We spent our money elsewhere.

Favourite local pub - steak is out of the world!

I’ve been coming to this pub for years and it is one of my favourites. However some recent experiences have dampened my overall love for this pub due to one of the waitresses being nothing but rude and unbothered. At a period that wasn’t even busy (3 people at the bar) this waitress was bossing the other bar staff around whilst they were mid conversation/order with customers. She then took my order, being incredibly blunt and also told me off because I didn’t say both drinks I wanted at the same time and delivered a service with no thank you or smile. The waitress I am talking about had glittery and colourful eyeshadow on both times I’ve experienced this poor service! A shame for such a lovely pub (other staff are lovely)

I’m confused by the negative reviews. We come here most weeks for the pub quiz and the service is always great and the food’s decent and a good price. We recently hosted my partner’s birthday drinks here. We brought a cake and the staff kindly (and without us asking) brought us plates and forks. It’s a nice chilled pub!

Sadly like many of the other reviews, we had a terrible experience. Waitress took our order and after an hour we hadn’t received any food. I asked for an ETA, the waitress confirmed she’d check and then never came back… After asking someone else for a second time, they said our order was no where to be found?? No apology. Dog friendly pub but otherwise nothing positive to say sadly

Very well located, the ALTHORP PUB was a nice surprise. The food is good (salmon gnocchi), the atmosphere fantastic and the service friendly and efficient. It deserved a second visit that proved the quality of this PUB / Restaurant.

Very unfriendly hostile service from the start towards us, two couples, with our children. We were having drinks and our kids were eating the pub’s very mediocre food. Our 3 year old went into the other dining room ONCE ( while I was in the toilet, leaving my husband in charge). The manager aggressively told us to keep our child under control, the children did not leave our area and table after that, but despite this every time the manager walked past, he gave us filthy hostile looks and an unpleasant attitude. The manager then told the bartender not to serve us anymore as he did not like my husband’s response regarding my toddler walking away from our table that one time. We are locals and have frequented most pubs in this area, which is dubbed ‘nappy valley’, have never had this type of treatment before. They do not know how to treat their customers and I urge you never to come here, especially with kids. I absolutely regret coming here and spending money.

Every dish was delicious and the small plates / starters were generous portions. Great atmosphere and friendly and efficient service. Lovely spot for Sunday lunch after a walk on the common.

Couldn't fault the food, it was absolutely delicious and generous portions. We were however ignored by the waiting staff and eventually had to go up and order at the bar - after finding our own menus. I noticed another two guys got up and left after being ignored for long enough. It wasn't even that busy. The lady who served us at the bar was a delight though. Overall food 5/5, service 1/5.

No heating in the back room, led to a very cold dining experience for everyone in January. Took 20 minutes for our drinks order to be taken and had to repeatedly ask for side plates for our starters. Somehow.a burger, two pints and a starter to share was £50 🤦. Won’t be returning.

They seem to have a management issue here, and the reviews over the last few months back this up. I visited with friends on 4th Jan and arrived at 2220. All went well. At 2245 I went to the bar to order another round and was told from the other side of the room by the manageress that the bar was closed. I mentioned it was only 1045 and that they had not told anyone they were closing early or called last orders. "It's closed because I want to get out of here at 11 because I have a train to catch, and you need to finish your drinks". I pointed out that was what drinking up time was for, but she was not having it. We were not the only ones in the bar, and there were five of us. From my experience and the reviews, it seems they have lost their customer focus - which is fundamental in the pub game. I hope they get it back because it used to be a good pub to pop into.  It's probably worth taking a few more minutes and walking up to the Hope.

I hosted my cancer remission party at The Althorp on Dec 9 for around 60 guests and I cannot fault them one bit. I had a wonderful experience and the whole Althorp team ensured my evening was perfect! I loved ‘The Common Room’ as it was at the back of the pub and had its own toilets. We were able to play our own music which set the vibe for the night perfectly!! Whilst the private bar didn’t have beer taps nor soda guns this was never an issue as there were always plenty of bartenders on the main bar so you rarely waited! Another bonus for me was that the booking was a minimum spend. The Althorp was understanding that as this was not a Christmas party I was unable to pay hire fees and so to know we just had to spend a certain amount was a relief!! Definitely a BIG recommendation for future events. The food was delicious!! We had a selection of canapés that were swept up by the guests!! The little Yorkshire pudding roasties were to die for!! Definitely would come back just for a meal again 😍 Thank you so so much to the whole team for making my night a memorable one! I will forever be grateful ☺️

Very unwelcoming staff! Not be rushing back?

Been going to the Althorp for years, my wife even had her 40th birthday there several years ago, but won't be back. We have also frequented on Christmas Day many times for drinks (inc last year). This year we turned up 10 mins early and sat outside waiting by the door. Some guy inside grunted something at us before a lady opened the door and without so much as a hello or Merry Christmas, bluntly asked if we had a booking, which we didn't. Even more bounty she replied, 'sorry, bookings only', and quickly shut the door. The text of this dialogue doesn't accurately convey how abrupt and rude this exchange was, on any day, let alone on Christmas Day. Disappointing that walk-ins for drinks are no longer accepted on Christmas Day, but if that's the policy fair enough, but there's a way to treat people, and that isn't it. I appreciate it's Christmas Day, it's busy and it's tough having to work, but I worry in hospitality myself, and if any of my team members were so equally dismissive of our customers I'd know we had the wrong people.

This is a pretty standard and average pub. Drinks are fine and food is fine. Some of the staff are pleasant but generally management is rude and not accommodating. Seems to have gone downhill since being under new management.

Enjoyed my visit here. Had sharing platter and drinks. Very busy, nice atmosphere, cosy and relaxed vibe. Lots of families of all ages. Nice place for a drink and nibbles on a wet and grey dece afternoon.

Food was great, lovely pub and good pint of Guinness, James the waiter / bar tender was so helpful and cheerful. But the atmosphere was really let down by the aggressive female staff who was in charge. Everything seemed to be a hassle, inconvenient and she was just in a really bad mood all night. Then we got told aggressively to leave bang on 11pm, and the doors were shut behind us. No festive cheer or spirit!

This pub used to bring me the highlight of my week. Friendly staff, good people, superb atmosphere. However - the new manager is an absolute pig. Completely ruined my afternoon pint after verbally abusing the lovely staff infront of myself and other regular locals. If it wasn’t for my recent hip replacement and old age getting the best of me - I would have spoken up and taught him a lesson in kindness and respect. Until he is removed, The Althorp has lost a long standing customer. Very upsetting to see in today’s society that is already filled with hate and despair.

Used to like going to this pub. Whoever the manager was tonight was rude and unwelcoming. Looking at other reviews it doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident. Not child friendly at all and left straightaway. Such a shame

Was in here just now and it’s one of my favourite pubs - but the way the manager talks to his staff is honestly disgusting, especially as they were all so nice to the customers. As long time visitors of the pub it’s really not nice to witness and as someone who has worked in the hospitality industry it was embarrassing. Get rid or send him on a training course on how to speak to people.

I used to come here but all the nice staff have left and the (new) Manager ruins the entire pub experience/atmosphere - very unpleasant, unprofessional, seems to hate people judging by his grimacing.. Totally mystified as to 1) why he is a manager and 2) he works in hospitality. Will return when this terrible miscast is replaced with a nice and competent person. Food is hit and miss. The last Caesar salad was drenched in pure Mayonnaise, not good.
