The Nickel Bar in City of London, Westminster

I think it rates about mid way of 15k restaurants in London on Trip Advisor. A burger and steak with a beer and a ginger boor was £79 including tip. Yes, very average.

Extremely poor customer service. No attempt to help find a bar seat as the waitresses huddle around the entrance together. The attitude of one waiter was appalling and her manager was weak in dealing with the issue. Left a sour taste and a pretentious feeling. If you are no staying in the hotel or a member you don’t feel welcome!

Went for a pre-dinner cocktail with friends. The massive room (former banking hall) is stunning so worth a look but you have to find a seat or table for yourself, which means wandering round the maze of seating areas. The drinks are not cheap and service is 13.5%, which we expected, but our waitress was indifferent at best, have seen more welcoming service at the busy pubs in town. There was a live band in the middle of the room but it was way too loud so was hard to hear our conversation. You can only go look at the vault if you are staying at the hotel or a member. You can glimpse the vault door if you go to the loo. The loos are swish but needed more regular cleaning. There are definitely better places if you want a fancy cocktail. The Ned is very much style over substance.

This is a great large classically decorated space in the center of the impressive Ned Hotel. There is a wide range of alcoholic and soft drinks served at your table.

Very delightful interior design with a beautiful live scene music next to the bar. We stopped randomly for a night out and it was a great chose, Solomon made it far more great by serving the great cocktails. We will come back for Kaia restaurant where he said it’s delicious asian food.

Great atmosphere - we always have a couple of drinks & listen to the live jazz before dining at the feast. This time I must bring attention to the management on how wonderful Anastasia is (she has now looked after us on several occasions) & has always made us feel special - more than. I can say for then the other 2 women - after dinner (after spending £900 between the 5 of us ) we were treated like lepers when trying to get a seat - thankfully the manager stepped in but it had already left us feeling very upset. Please let Anastasia give them some training. Can I say all the staff in Millie’s lounge are absolutely superb .

I frequent the Ned regularly, as it is a popular meeting point for business + easily located for other social-based activities. At the request of a client, I had a quiet Christmas drink in one of the table seats just by the music stage in mid afternoon. The membership I hold extends a discount on the bill at certain times of the week. To avoid any awkwardness associated with it, I approached the bar after asking for the bill (we had a tab set up) to advise of the circa 100 gbp discount due on the total. The barman who "dealt" with me was laughably rude, arrogant and hostile, seemingly taking the stance that I was trying to scam in some way. The whole situation was bizarre and I didn't really know what to say. It was loud and busy at the bar so, in the end, not wanting to leave my client alone for too long, I left, without the membership discount applied. To add to the above review (which is fairly minor, but worth mentioning) on two occasions, the server of our table forgot parts of our order, so people were regularly left without a drink for up to 10 minutes. it was not overly busy generally, so it wasn't like they were rushed off their feet. The place is very expensive, in comparison to other local bars so, even as a member, to be treated like vermin, is not a great look.

The ned is very pretty and the live entertainment is quite nice. I thought the vault was extremely cool but I have to say, it was the worst tea of our lives. I cannot believe how bad it was

The decor is extremely impressive and inspiring. It's an old bank headquarters, so as you can expect it's very expansive, and decorated to a high standard. There is live music playing on a stage, which was very nice indeed and welcome. The chairs were almost like what you would see in an upscale train - say the Orient express or something like that. Good location if in the city, easy to get to of anywhere in central London. Prices were about average for this sort of place in London. Only thing that let it down was the slow service and coldness of the waiting staff. But we had a great time on the whole

3rd time I’ve been for drinks with my girlfriend and this place never stop to surprise me. Just what you would expect from the Ned - extremely Good service in a historic setting. This a members club in certain areas. You need to check where you are able to go if you are not a member.

We arrived early for a lunch booking at the Electric Diner so decided to have a quick drink in the Nickel bar. We were told at main door just to take a seat which we did. When no waiter/waitress arrived I decided to go to the bar myself. Bartender took my order of 2 glasses of wine whilst finishing with another customer, he then took an order from a couple already seated at bar and served them. It wasn't busy so wasn't unduly that bothered by poor service. When my drinks were served, he told me the price (£27), I paid and was given receipt. Noticed that table next to us was served by a waitress so bar does offer this service. Once I got home I was shocked to see that I had been charged a £3 (12.5%) service charge, when I actually had to order at the bar. This is a very cheeky charge,would have expected had we been served at our table - should have checked at the time and would have queried. Surroundings are lovely, great ambience with live music being played but very pricy

One has recently visited the Nickel Bar at The Ned, over the last two Sundays. It is safe to say that their Classic Gin Martinis are excellent; nicely priced as well. Both Alkid and Tomasz are attentive. Alkid in particular, he is professional; friendly and easy to talk to - He is not shy to interact with paying guests, which is admirable and perfect for this setting. I shall be back soon for more lovely Martinis. Thank You gents! :-)

We were so excited to come to this bar, as we’ve heard how grand it is. And I’m absolutely gutted about our experience, we came down from our room to the bar and wasn’t sure if we had to be seated, a waitress walked passed and said ‘anywhere’ we assumed she wasn’t talking to us because she didn’t stop and tell us she then came back and said sit anywhere, so we were already taken a back. We sat next to the band and the waitress came and took our order, she then went and got the band 6 glasses of water didn’t ask us if we’d like water, we had our drinks which weren’t great ( although my partner is a bar tender so we have very high standards) the waitress must of came over to the band next to us three times to take orders we sat with empty glasses for 20 mins trying to get a waitresses attention. When we did she told us it was last orders which was annoying as we could of probably fitted in another drink if she had approached us. The interior of the bar is beautiful but for the price of the drinks I’d expect high end service. Very disappointed and I don’t think we will be returning.

We ordered drinks from the bar after looking at the menu. The menu does not make it clear there is a service charge. We queried this with staff and told its compulsory. Rather than have a row, we paid. We paid in cash, staff then chose not to give change and keep it as a tip. Prices charged for individual drinks were also high than in the menu. A rip off we wont be visiting again

I met a friend in London and wanted somewhere convenient and interesting. We met at The Nickel Bar at The Ned. Arrived at 12 and it was busy but managed to find a booth and was served right away. Service was efficient if not that friendly. I love the environment as so easy to people watch. Lovely couple of glasses of Perrier Jouet Rose and served in beautiful glasses. Easy to chat as the trio in the bandstand played - not too loud and great music.

I visited the Nikel Bar late night on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. I arrived at circa 1 pm and drank 2 small beers with Bar snacks at a reasonable price for the time of night and size of the venue in Central London. Despite being alone i was able to have a welcomed, spacious and lovely wait at a very late hour.

So. Location - tick. Fixtures and fittings - tick. Quality of food and beverage - generally tick. Service - mixed, junior people on average better than senior people. Attitude - off the chart. Unbelievably rude and arrogant staff for whom the word "hospitality" clearly has another meaning. Entitled, uncaring, disorganised and defensive. Now, some of the staff are pretty good and pretty nice but there is no organisation around what they do, the hotel is full of "look at me" posers and so I am sure that even the good ones end up venting on their guests out of frustration. Multiple aggressive confrontations witnessed throughout the evening, two of our party nearly knocked off their feet by bouncers forcibly removing someone who wasn't even struggling, lots of nose wiping when exiting the toilets etc. If that's your scene then this is your place.

We came here for a pre Christmas party drink, atrocious, rude staff, really spoilt the mood, we were all appalled at how bad the staff were, we won't be back. Nice drinks menu, the only problem was the staff.
