The Nice Cream Factory in York

Un pequeño café lindo con buenos procesos (solo £ 6. 50 para pastel y café). Tenían opciones sin gluten, pero se habían agotado a primera hora de la tarde. La higiene es un problema aquí. Un trabajador hizo varios batidos en una licuadora y los limpió con el mismo paño de té visiblemente sucio entre usos. No solo no es la forma de limpiar las herramientas de cocina, sino que causa contaminación cruzada. No recomendaría este café a nadie con una alergia o requerimiento dietético.

Probé este helado de nitrógeno por primera vez y fue sorprendentemente delicioso. Era suave y sabroso. Probamos el de Pistacho y fue uno de los mejores que hemos probado. Sin duda ir allí si en la zona.

Nos encontramos con este café en un paseo por el centro de la ciudad y entramos justo cuando se abrió, fuimos recibidos por una joven encantadora que tomó Nuestro pedido y se estaba configurando para el día Probamos el encantador pastel de zanahoria y tomamos café y una bebida fría No demasiado caro y un pequeño café encantador Merece la pena una visita si estás en York

Nos agachamos aquí después de horas de ver el sitio y comprar un poco de aperitivo y café. Terminamos tomando un poco de café Y helado delicioso también. Lo que es genial es que también tenían un delicioso helado vegano para mi esposo. Gracias también a nuestro servidor encantador Harriet por su alegre servicio al cliente!

Best ice cream I have ever had, a superb hidden gem of a cafe, highly recommended. My son ordered the eton mess and I ordered the salted caramel, watching the lady make them was very Harry potteresque with the liquid nitrogen. Followed this up with a cappuccino, passed on the beautiful cakes although I was very tempted . A must visit venue in York.

Best ice cream I’ve had in years, great homemade and lovely atmosphere and workers, even opened up just before close to let us in, thank you.

Drink and cake £5.00. Can't beat that in the centre of York. Coffee was a decent size and a large very, tasty slice of cake.

This spot is perfect for everyone! A cosy cafe in central York, tucked away near some quaint charity shops and right beside the Minster. I went with my family and stayed there for a couple of hours - we didn't want to leave, it was so lovely. The staff were so caring and attentive, incredibly friendly and fast, too! I ordered a tea and carrot cake for roughly £5.50, which was amazing value for what I got. The tea was served in a beautiful blue teapot and had a lovely flavour, and the carrot cake was freshly baked. It was incredibly fluffy and moist, with a delicious hint of lemon. Furthermore, the slice was huge! I could scarcely believe my eyes. We found this gem of a cafe completely by accident, but I'd return every day if I could!

I was thinking the exact same thing as you are thinking when I first saw this cafè “How could they use real LIQUID NITROGEN to make the ice cream?” But I was proved wrong as they made the ice cream in front of me and I can confirm they used real liquid nitrogen. They have a lot of ice cream and coffee flavours; the ice cream is delicious. I had no choice but to say have a good day when I left! 5/5

This was our first visit to Diana’s Cafe and we were curious to see how the nitrogen ice cream was made. We ordered Oreo and my daughter enjoyed watching the process. resulting in a very generous portion of ice cream. which she finished in no time. There is a lovely selection of cakes (which it appears are home made by the owners) as well as a selection of home made shortbread, which melts in the mouth. A little gem of a cafe, delicious food, great portions and staff that are very friendly and welcoming.

I've walked past this place several times over the year and noticed it had a complete refurbishment. So happy I decided to treat my family and go in. The size of the ice cream was much bigger than we were expecting which was a nice surprise for us all. It was really fun to watch the ice cream being made and all the staff were so lovely and efficient. Would definitely recommend and I'm excited to try it out again!

Very poor customer service. Will not use again. On placing and paying for my order with the gentleman behind the counter this afternoon, he informed me that I would be the next person but one to receive my order (the ice creams each being made to order, and - supposedly - in order). Having sat patiently just a few feet away from the counter, and seeing other people arriving after I had, and them being served with their ice cream, after at least 15 minutes of waiting I informed the gentleman that I couldn't wait any longer for my order and asked for a refund. I fully accept that mistakes are made and miscommunication can happen, but what provoked me to write this negative review was that the gentleman in question was entirely unapologetic and blamed me for not collecting my order when it had been called out. The order he had called out was not my order - and following which, I had spoken with the woman who was making the icecream, reminding her of, and clarifying, my order.

Found this hidden gem today. Wife is vegan and she was able to have a vegan ice cream made in front of her eyes which she loved. I had a salted caramel one with cows milk. You get a very good sized portion and the staff were lovely. They asked questions and made us feel very welcome. The only improvement I would say would be a little more flavour to the ice creams and maybe some texture. We will be back.

Been to the nice cream factory a few times now and always thoroughly enjoy the visit. Ice cream is an amazing texture from using liquid nitrogen in the process, and they have a great range of flavours. You also get a large amount in the tub which is great! Thoroughly recommend if you are wanting a nice sweet treat in a bit of a quieter area of York whilst supporting a lovely small business. :)

We passed this on the first day of our holiday and were intrigued to try some liquid nitrogen ice-cream. We visited today after lunch. Its a tiny little shop with two small tables inside and a bench outside. We were lucky it was quiet and we got to sit in. I felt the lady making the ice-cream could perhaps of made more of a show than what she was doing. She was very kind to our son and treated him to a couple of wee bkf

We stumbled upon this place as we wondered through york, just stopped to get the kids an ice cream and it was amazing, some of the best ice cream we have ever tasted, big servings and the couple who run the cafe are really friendly. We went back for a second visit during our trip. The kids loved it as did we, and watching the ice cream being made with liquid nitrogen was an added treat. Highly recommend stopping in for at least an ice cream, you won’t regret it!

Plenty of gluten free and vegan options available. Made to order so that was a novelty! Very unique and flavours were delicious. Staff super friendly- very good service!

Unfriendly and grumpy staff who looked like they would prefer to be anywhere but working here. Customer service was non existent which is a shame for a small business. Such a shame as the children were really excited, however the staff attitude made us feel unwelcome and a nuisance. Toppings shown and advertised but not offered, because the atmosphere was so negative we were afraid to ask and just chose to leave. We would not return on this basis. I would also appreciate it if the owners didn't jump onto this post and start arguing. There are plenty of reviews saying the same below. If you don't like recieving truthful reviews then I would not recommend using Google. As you can see the owner has chosen to reply to this review by stating that "they don't have time to stand and chat." To be clear, there were no other customers in the shop or waiting outside. We entered and there was no hello or greeting, the two members of staff in the shop were unwelcoming. At no stage did we expect a chat or for them to "stand chatting". All that was expected was a courteous greeting and to be made to feel welcome. We wouldn't have expected them to chat or stop their work. This is a sad exposé of how the owners deal with customers. They are rude and discourteous to customers who enter the store to spend money and then take to Google reviews to argue with customers who have had a bad experience. All you have to do is read other reviews here to see this is not the first time they have done this. Doing this does not improve customer service but only serves to make your business look as bad at customer relations as it is.

We went here after walking past it many times (the apartment we were staying in was further down the road). On our way back on the last day my OH wanted to try it-the flavours sounded amazing, biscoff, Nutella, peanut butter & so many others! I had already prepared myself for not being able to have one due to being lactose intolerant. I needn’t have worried as nearly all the ‘standard’ flavours they can make vegan! Amazing! I had biscoff-oh goodness it was good! And my OH had Nutella which he said was delicious. You get to watch them as they make it too which is pretty cool with the liquid nitrogen making it way more dramatic than a standard scoop! The portions were pretty large too

We walked several times passed this shop but never went in. We visited York for the Xmas market and made an effort not to eat anywhere else but there. The couple that runs the shop were so friendly and helpful. The soup was so tasty and the ice cream creamy .

It is quite a novel experience in the UK to have the ice cream prepared for you using liquid nitrogen. Each serving prepared fresh, and to your choice of flavor. However the downsides are that it does take a little time to do, and queues do build up and the wait can be lengthy. I think this had taken its toll on the waitresses.I chose mango but couldn't tell, and nor could anybody else in my party that tried it, it could have been a vanilla or a plain ice cream. Very disappointing! The ice cream was smooth and creamy, but not something I would return for when there are vibrant flavored ice creams further into town.

Popped in here after researching vegan options in York and wasn’t disappointed. So nice to have vegan ice cream options that aren’t full of chemicals and artificial ingredients! I went for the choc Chip peanut butter ice cream, topped with granola, banana chips and choc sauce. Quirky, yummy and definitely worth a visit!

Ordered 2 ice creams here. Had to wait about 20-25 mins. Noticed they ran out of certain flavours. When we did get our ice creams they were lovely and worth the wait. The vegan coffee and walnut is lovely but would prefer chopped nuts instead of huge pieces. Will definitely go again.

Walked in on an extreamly hot day and needed coolling down. Chose the malteser ice cream and made fresh right there and then with luquid nitrogen. This is not a gimmick the ice cream tastes sooooo smooth... trust me if you like ice cream try this place and try the best ice cream .... better than that american jezzy n benny or bargan hass ...

We stumbled across this place and my niece would rest until we had bought some ice cream. It is the most beautiful ice cream. I had lotus biscoff and she has malteser. Massive potion too. She loved watching them being made. It’s busy- Very busy,but you gotta go. It tastes unbelievable

The ice cream that I partook in at this place was spectacular. It was homemade and tasted awesome. I had the chocolate peanut butter and was not disappointed in any way. The lady at the counter was super nice as well. I would recommend this place to any of my friends or anyone I meet.

We stopped here on a Saturday afternoon to try out their vegan ice cream. I tried the peanut butter chocolate flavor which I was told is made with a soy milk base. It was really fun to watch them make it fresh for me after ordering. There were some children in the shop at the same time who also loved watching the foggy cloud that came off the ice cream. It was really delicious and a totally unique experience! Definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a delicious vegan treat.

Strange this as we saw the sign for lobster bisque... We went for it... also tried the ham and pea soup too. Both served with freshly baked baguette with cold butter, so fresh the baguette was too hot to handle... Both soup were absolutely packed full of flavour 10/10. Delicious.

What a little find. The ice creams are not only wonderful to watch being made, but are some of the best we have eaten any where in the world.

We went to this delightful and interesting ice cream factory on a cold sunny day.Enjoyed a great spicy tomato soup with sourdough bread followed by a salted caramel ice cream-really enjoyable.No negatives-only positives.Strongly recommended.

We decided to give this a try after hearing some good reviews and were not disappointed. At £3.50 a scoop it initially seems a little expensive, but the ice cream is honestly worth it, it's so filling! The staff are friendly and they make your chosen flavour right in front of you. It's hard to describe the texture but we've tried three flavours now and all have been delicious. I'm excited to go back and try the soup menu now it's getting colder!

I visited the nice cream parlour as no stranger to Fossgate but having never visited the ice cream parlour before. It was absolutely delicious! I tried malteser ice cream which was crafted before my very eyes. The price appeared rather expensive however with generous portions and expert craftsmanship, this seems reasonable. Will visit again!

I have visited the Nice Cream Factory 5 times in the past two weeks. The flavours are delicious and having a vegan option is excellent for me as I am the only vegan in my family. Everyone's happy. The portions are generous, although I always finish it because it's so moorish, and the price is great. My personal favourite flavour is the lotus biscoff and my mum loves the date and walnut. The girls working there are so kind and the service is great. They talked to us about flavour ideas and gave us a loyalty card. An overall excellent experience and I am suffering withdrawal after my holiday!

Visited the N(ice) cream factory after a colleague and my daughter recommended it. I had date and walnut flavour which was amazing! It was so good I went back 2 days later and had the chocolate and peanut ...delicious. Definitely wirth a visit. Lovely staff too!

It was very cool to see the ice cream preparation. It looked like magic :) The ice cream is tasty and in a big portion. I advice to share one cup in two.

We came over from our daughter's wedding reception - they'd found this place while planning the wedding - and despite the fabulous meal we'd just had, quite a lot of us found room for some of this. The Raspberry Pavlova I had was just right; fresh and flavoursome and not too sweet. But the real revelation was the vegan Chocolate Peanut Butter one my sister had: it wasn't identical to the dairy version my brother chose, but you couldn't have guessed it wasn't dairy and all three were just yummy! At first glance it looks expensive but you get plenty for your money and the price reflects the quality.

Incredible Ice cream shop run by super friendly people! 100% worth a visit, especially for the coffee and walnut ice cream.

I had seen the shop earlier in the morning and their claim to be the best ice cream shop in town. At the time, I didn't think too much of it.

My "ice"cream was practically cold cream. The staff didnt make eye contact. It is HUGELY overpriced for a tub of ice cream, i could get an entire tub of ben and jerries for what i paid for it.

We visited nice cream factory because my wife is gluton and dairy free,we were not disappointed.It was interesting watching the ice cream being made and the staff explained the process.There was an interesting choice of flavours.we were impressed with the portion size.we will be returning again soon.

I don't normally have ice cream as I do not consume milk. However at this place they do a soy with coconut base suitable for dairy free. I don't think every flavour is available with that base but I was torn between chocolate peanut butter and the Turkish delight flavour. Opted for Turkish delight and it was lovely .

Visited for the first time today, it won’t be the last. This is an amazing place to grab a tea or coffee AND of course an amazing ice cream. The shop is full of character and scrupulously clean. A really friendly chatty team working hard. The ice cream is really something else.... I chose Turkish Delight and the taste was WOW..... sooo damn good... for a tub of freshly made flavoursome ice cream for £3.50, with any trimmings it’s about £4.... but the portion size is really generous, given it’s made to order the price is very reasonable. Hubby had the Malteser flavour, and grandaugter had salted caramel..... two more taste explosions.

Really good quality ice cream - somewhere between ice cream and gelato in texture. I had the Raspberry Pavlova flavour and it was incredible, the pieces of meringue in it were a nice touch and I got a lot of ice cream for just one serving. Considering you get to watch your ice cream being made in front of you, to order, it is a very speedy process, and do bear in mind you're paying for the experience not just the end product. A great place to go regardless of the weather, a lovely addition to Fossgate!

Came here today as the weather was scorching and had read about its opening in the local paper. I was thoroughly disappointed.

Popped in today as I heard there was a new ice cream shop in town and I wasn’t disappointed! Ice cream is made to order and it just tastes amazing. They have lots of really cool and unique flavours and I had the Malteser! Me and my sis really enjoyed it here and I’d recommend on a hot summers day!

This ice cream is delicious! Tried the salted caramel and the lemon and ginger and neither disappoint. The staff were friendly and welcoming - we will be visiting again very soon!

Might be our new favourite ice cream venue in York. The Malteser, Nutella and salted caramel were all delicious. We will be back!

We popped in here after work today; we love ice cream and have never tried the Nitrogen frozen type before. The ladies were lovely, and even though we came at the tail end of a busy sunny day and they had technically ran out, they managed to squeeze us one more ice cream out. We shared chocolate peanut butter and it was thoroughly delicious. Also great to see the interesting way it is made. We will be back soon for one each!

We visit here today Wednesday 18th April, after reading about it in the evening press. We were very lucky in our timing, it was just the three of us in there. After spending a good 5 minutes deciding what we should try, we each tried a different one.....we tried the nutella, malteaser and Turkish delight. All went down very nicely indeed, they were lovely and smooth great tasting too. We were fortunate enough to be able to sample a new flavour lemon and poppy seed...... this one was very nice too. We then decided it would be rude not to try the chocolate fudge cake that sat very tempting on the counter. We will definitely go back again now

We visited ' The (N)ice Cream Factory in Fossgate York on 13 April 2018, just 4 days after their opening! This is a whole new concept of making and enjoying ice cream, literally the ice cream mix is made in front of you, once ordered. Then by the use of Liquid Nitrogen, some food mixers and quite a bit of skill the staff make your chosen ice cream in front of you!! :) We enjoyed Nutella and Malteser ( separately!! ), the texture and flavour of this ice cream was amazing! There are a reasonable selection of flavours....we were lucky to be served by the owner ( s ) and they took the time to explain what was happening. The portion as per my photo was a generous amount, plenty for us! This is a great idea and hope it works!! There was also the best looking home made cake available!!! Prices at £3.50 a little heavy....but this was just delicious so make your own call on the pricing!! Limited seating inside. I'm pushing out to a 5* Review, so good luck and keep up the good work.
