The New Ocean in North Tyneside

First time ordering food since new management have taken over Usually order house special fried rice and house special chow mein. These usually had two slices of char siu and two slices of chicken on top. Not this time! The fried rice would also have a splash of gravy on top. Not this time. Meaning it was completely dry. It’s nice that we’re paying the same price but getting less! The chips were also greasy and rubbery which they have never been in the past. I rang up to check if the missing meat was a mistake but they confirmed it will be like this going forward. Well done. You’ve lost yourself a loyal customer Get yourself to the Golden Harvest people!

Terrible tonight. Been a loyal customer for a few years but unfortunately I won’t be returning. Firstly their phone is broken so they get the order wrong. Secondly Chicken was literally Bernard Matthews packet stuff. Chips soggy as oot. Shocking quality of food. 😡

1/4 duck I wouldn’t even give it 1 star The duck was just a tray of looked what looked like duck didn’t taste of duck,full of fat there were only 5 pancakes and the salad as they call it was just spring onion,got about 1inch of sauce that was very thick and there was a long black hair attached to the lid absolutely disgusting”the dog even turned her nose up”I Definitely will not be back

Over cooked no flavour and chowmains very over cooked with the sauce very poor would not go here again

Always had lovely meals from here until recently, but have rapidly gone downhill. Food tasted awful, prawn crackers inedible and main meal was disgusting, ended up binning it. Dodgy tummies for days afterward. Avoid at all costs.

Ok food, takes a little while, and has seen better days

Terrible food since they have a new chef or been taken over. Used to be my favourite & been a customer for over 30 years but after giving it a few chances won’t be going back. Hot & sour soup like spicy water. Crispy king prawns no longer crispy or tempura batter just dry powdery batter & nowhere near the size they used to be. Fried rice tastes starchy & identical to microwave rice. Don’t waste your money peeps try elsewhere or you will be highly disappointed & out of pocket.

This has been my local 'go to' for many years. It's always been a bit more pricey, but always seemed worth it. Ain't been for a couple of months, it seems it may have new owners. Noticed a lot of negative comments on here since that. Well, I got one last night and it's (bar none) THE best Chinese takeaway I've ever had. Absolutely outstanding!! 👍

Just found out they've changed owners 😩 if anyone knows if they've just moved else where let me know 😁 receptionist now is hmmm order and hear for yourself. 🤬 not my cup of tea for sure. Food tho is still ok 3rd July We tried again 😪 ended up with diarrhoea and sickness NEVER WILL I FALL FOR THAT AGAIN.....

Has this place been taken over by new owners? This was our go to takeaway but after last night we will not be returning. The wontons were useless, not the same shape/texture as they were. The curry sauce smelt like chip shop curry from Bisto and the hot wine sauce was quite bland and had changed colour. Now we hunt for a new Chinese takeaway!

Wouldn't even think about going anywhere else! used this place since it first opened and I've not been anywhere else since! Even when they shut during lock down i refused to go anywhere else!! Friendly Service and food always delivered quick and piping hot each time!

Best Chinese ever!! I ordered crispy chilli beef, Char Sui in bbq sauce (it’s like boneless spareribs), House special chow mien everything was very tasty. Delivery was under 30 mins and guy on phone was really nice.

Good food but ruined by the manner of the server. Meal ordered on the phone from one of their old menus using a number, which is now different on the new menu. So we mixed up on one of the meals....our fault ... he read it back...but didn't correct him immediately. We then (within minutes) rang back thinking about what we though he had said. We had indeed ordered incorrectly and he we was able to change, but not without a lecture about and I quote him: "that is why I read it back" and generally having a bit of a go about having the old menu and whinge moan etc. We apologised to him sincerely, said 'our fault' as it was a Saturday and we knew he would be under pressure ....he still banged on about it however! He then unbelievably more or less repeated this face to face whilst collecting the meal in front of another customer, who was embarrassed. The man was very rude, patronising, passive aggressive and should not be dealing with the public. He should be acknowledging that there could be a number of reasons why we got it wrong......hard of hearing, bad phone line etc. In this case it was the wine and middle age ! lol. However no excuse for his behaviour. Will never use New Ocean again. Stick it up your a**e!
