Too expensive for where it is and the quality of food on offer. Steak was poor and didn't come with the accompiments specified in the menu. Given sloppy pudding as compensation. Very disappointed

Had an amazing waitress on a birthday meal with a couple of friends, think she had mentioned her name was kacey. She was an amazing host and not to mention the great conversations she was able to uphold. Gladly go back for another meal with her!

It was busy tonight, took a while to get served - there is a sign that tells you to not form a line and to spread out around the bar but despite there being 3 people behind the bar they all pretty much just served everyone in the line, so if you only serve the people in the line there will always be one... Any way it wasn't really a huge problem it's just one of those things that makes you laugh later. The quiz night was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the night. Didn't eat any food but what I saw looked good and people eating it looked happy. As mentioned by other people in reviews they are not the best at clearing tables but it wasn't that bad.

Went for dinner with my son & daughter. We hadn't booked. I hadn't been here for quite some time but the food & service were as good as I remembered. A good variety of mains, including vegetarian options. Good value for money too.

We used to love this place, but it has definitely gone downhill the last 6 months. We went bank holiday Monday for food and a couple of drinks, the cleanliness of the place leaves something to be desired, we nearly aways have to ask for the table to be cleaned, some of the seating is disgusting to sit on, the new menu’s were all sticky and greasy finger prints all over them, rank! We both had upset stomachs for a couple of days after our visit. For the prices they charge they need to get their act together. We’ll be giving it a wide berth for a while.

Family get together good fish n chips the squid starter was average. The seats are absolutely filthy. Tables were clean but I don't think I'd return due to the fact that the seating was way below a standard you'd expect.

Good lunch here mid-week. Nice spacious bar and restaurant, relaxed, clean and modern. Good range of traditional food served well. Friendly staff. Fair range of beers including hand pulled ales. Some dishes fairly pricey but there is a 2 course fixed price lunch option. Went for lunch again on Saturday with a large group of family members. Food was good and inexpensive but they put us on tables that hadn't been cleaned. Also the local craft ale I had was not good (although I guess that's the brewer's problem not the pub). Update 05/04/24. Food good but prices esp. drinks and desserts seem to have spiked. Once again we had to ask for our table to be cleaned. Pub inside seems to be wearing out and outside was strewn with debris - cigarette butts, dog poo bags and bits of concrete.

Recently went here for Sunday lunch, the service was fantastic. The downside is that the food was not up to standard for the prices being charged. Iv had much better quality food for significantly less money. Nice bar and restaurant, good staff and service though.

Just been for Sunday Lunch and was really disappointed. Admittedly I haven't been for a while and I remember it being a lot better, living up to the SFG reputation but it now feels just like a beefeater. The service was really poor, had to ask numerous times for cutlery and sauces nobody came to see if our food was ok. The Sunday Lunch was mediocre, thin gravy sitting at the bottom of the plate, dry Yorkshire Pudding, boiled potatoes and no mash. My daughter had fish and chips, which looked horrible. I was offered a free dessert when I told the lady who took our plates away but didn't take her up on the offer just wanted to get out of there.

We used to love coming here. Great atmosphere, good service, and the food used to be gorgeous. Yet, every time we come here now, it gets worse. Today, I had the roast lamb Sunday roast special. The lamb was so tough, that I gave up trying to cut it. The veg and gravy were cold too. If you’re going to charge £19 for a roast, please make it enjoyable. My other half had the inferno pizza. I didn’t try it, but he told me that he’s had better from the freezer section in Aldi, and made a complaint to staff, which was then subsequently removed from the bill. I’m so disappointed. Happily come back for a drink, but not for the cold, bland food.

Service was amazing, food was really nice, don't know why people feel the need to complain about stupid little things! There's worse things going on in the world.

Booked a table for 7 people in bar area and paid deposit, when we got to the venue on the day (I knew they’d be busy) we had to wait then I approached a young lady about our reservation which showed us to small table..I then told the girl we can’t fit 7 around this table. She went away to get her manager, the manager then proceeded to be a bit condescending saying well it’s busy (yes she knew that’s why we booked) I told her I understand it’s busy but we booked. She then went away to find us a table. After she found us our table she then proceeded to tell me that we were early for our 4.30 booking, which we weren’t we were there for half past but by time she found our table it was then 4.45, no apologies given!! The meal was lovely but we weren’t impressed that the bunch of young people were vaping on the table infront of us, they surely must of knew. I won’t be returning!!

We’ve been regulars here for many years and have never found fault with anything. Yesterday (26/3/24) however was very different. Table for 6 people pre-booked and we were told to sit anywhere it didn’t matter! Just as well there was a table to seat 6. That was the last time we saw any serving staff until we went to order drinks. Mocktail menu would have been nice for the drivers in the group but didn’t have one and advised just chose anything and we’ll make it up! Ran out of a spirit one of the party wanted after pouring a single shot however a double appeared on the bill. No brown sauce for another in the party, and ‘service’ was appalling. We also hadn’t realised it was now a Sports Bar- or is it? Saving grace was the food was nice. Tracked someone down eventually to ask for the bill which was wrong and plonked on the table with a ‘here’. We won’t be going back any time soon if at all.

Been a couple of times...both times absolutely fantastic service and the food , a roast dinner was outstanding..superb polite attentive staff..and a lovely chilled atmosphere....the best family friendly pub for miles...5 stars

Great food at a good price. Really enjoyed it. Staff were lovely too. However, after going to this pub regularly since it opened, it’s dramatically gone down hill. The toilets are horrendous, so dirty, and most of the chairs are scruffy and very worn. It needs money invested and to raise the quality of the clientele again. They’ve addressed the issue of dogs everywhere and on the furniture but more needs to be done.

Lovely 😍 place, lovely friendly staff, smashing cup of tea. The chunky chips were 10 out of 10.

Only had bar snacks here but they were good. Pub quiz was fun, despite folk using their phones to google answers ... can’t see the point myself in doing that. Drinks were ok, plenty parking too.

My children and grandchildren. took me for mothers day lunch.they had booked a table. The pub was full. We ordered ,and were expecting a long wait.but within 10 min.our meals arrived ,even before our drinks. Whilst the dinners looked lovely.every ones meat was Tough.Lamb and beef.and everything was barely warm.Such a shame.first and last time going there

It's a nice enough bar but could do with being renovated, it's starting to show its age. Always seem to be different staff every time we go as well, food is quite pricey, drinks are priced ok, but would 100% benefit from being renovated.

Wicked staff. Was served by 2 lovely ladies Shannon & Laura. Hats off to them for working late. Always happy and cheerful. Definitely be coming back again.

Worst food I have ever had . I had the so called fillet steak . It was nothing like fillet steak . And the price was too much . I paid £115 for my son and myself for a 3 course meal and the quality was terrible. I eat out all the time and never complain. I would give this place a miss.

Average to below average food at a premium price. Group of 4. Beef burger looked ok. ‘Brisket’ ends the small highlight, ‘patty’ underwhelming. Double patty? (£15) Chicken burger overpowered by charred taste after burned brioche done on the griddle, soggy 1/4 from presumed pickle cabbage juice (£15) Garlic Kiev pizza with a good garlic flavour but not much else, certainly didn’t have any chicken on it. Abysmal chewy frozen pre-made pizza base (£13). In fact I’m going to say pizza was cooked from frozen that looked like a margarita with maybe garlic added afterwards. 0k presentation made to look like it had been in a pizza oven.. Kids burgers. A bun, single frozen burger, melted cheese, chips (£8) Forgotten meal from the check, came at different time. Overall a poor experience that I wouldn’t recommend. Could be improved. Same chain as Shiremoor House Farm that is equally as poor but just as expensive.

Bar staff need some training. especially if they are in front of the service to be polite when serving. Lovely food and great atmosphere, but staff let us down numerous time :( Also, no proper whisky glass when serving 😢 that's why we decided to go Holystone.

Everything was just perfect. The staff are so friendly and helpful, fast service and attentive. The food looked as good as it tasted. I had the chicken katsu curry and the quality was superb, loved the selection of stir fried greens. Will definitely be returning here!

Went in for a nice meal with family, two of the meals were edible but the roast dinners that were ordered were freezing cold like they’d been out for hours, we’d had wine come out warm when asked for it to be cold and then they made a joke about the next one being cold for then it to be warm and needing ice. Some of the younger staff seemed attentive but one guy who was tall and bald wouldn’t look us in the eyes when we wanted to talk about the food and try and give feedback they acted as if it was our fault that they brought out the wrong orders, well done the beef that should’ve been pink, had freezing cold vegetables. It was an overall displeasurable experience especially because we didn’t enjoy having to complain so much about so many basic parts of the meal.

Very disappointing. We were there for a birthday celebration and the service in the restaurant area was poor, long waits for drinks, missed and incorrect orders. The food was a mixed bag the hanging kebabs seemed to be well received but the steaks were poor and chips served cold. My sea bass main at £19 looked attractive on the plate but the fish was poorly cooked and a portion size more like a starter, the fish cut up to disguise how little there was and a tiny amount of gnocchi. I also had an issue at the bar on arrival when served a pint of cask ale which was at the end of the cask and undrinkable. Was told they had to wait for the manager to confirm that it was off, left stood waiting for over ten minutes while the manager looked at the beer, went of and returned to take the beer off sale. All the time not a word was said to me and it took another member of bar staff a few minutes later to offer another drink. At the price point it's poor value for money and combined with poor service we won't be back

I was disappointed they accepted a 7.00pm booking only to be told a week later the kitchen closes at 6.55pm and could we come in earlier. The food was good. The atmosphere was quiet. Also paid a deposit that they forgot to deduct from the bill. Was told I would need to return to get a refund by a very unhelpful manager. I managed to email and get the refund into my account after a couple of days. Bookings and customer service need addressing, not what I have previously been used to from the Pavilion.

Great Food and excellent service

The most disgusting food I have ever been served. Stewed Sunday dinner, veg that has been under hot lights all day & 3 tiny slithers of over cooked meat on the trio served within 7minutes of ordering. Save £19 & get yourself to The Toby down the road. Bland excuse of a restaurant, I wouldn’t feed that filth to my dog.

For a dead bar, charging a % to reserve a table feels a bit stupid. Service was absolutely atrocious. Staff can’t pour a Guinness and having to get up from the dining area to go to the bar for a drink really summed it up. £22 for the worst steak Ive ever had, with soggy burned chips and watery peppercorn sauce. Pizzas are clearly just frozen pizzas but the “chef” did manage to somehow burn the base and leave the top cold? Scampi and chips and fish admittedly were good but overall this is the worst dining out experience i have ever had.

We had an enjoyable visit for lunch. The menus offered a lot of choice from quick bites to larger meals. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent too. Very enjoyable visit.

Great place for food, always drove past it and decided to book up for Sunday lunch and give it a go, so pleased we did as the food was excellent and service what great.

I understand pet friendly eateries are the way ahead these days, which i dont have a problem with. What does concern me is that owners are being allowed to sit their dogs on the seats and in one instance on a table. Surely this cannot be hygenic and clean for other customers.

Absolutely JOKE so sat here rite now the ppl I’m with haall finished there food I’m still waiting on mine coming out because the put mushrooms on my plate when I asked not to put them on and now everyone is finished I’ve sat hear over 25 mins and mine still not come never again will I come here pathetic absolute pathetic

Booked a table in the restaurant for 9 for my dads 85th birthday paid a £35 deposit.When we arrived we had been seated at 3 separate high tables in the bar area.We then had to go & order food at the bar.2 meals arrived the other meals arrived 15mins later after a complaint with no apology

We went here as a family of 4, myself my wife and two children at 6pm on a Friday night. The food was decent although over priced we thought. Drinks were nice, service was standard but the atmosphere was strange. The amount of dogs in there was ridiculous. It was like a dog owners club. For someone who is allergic to dog hair, my experience was cut short and we left. I'm not against dogs in pubs, but there should be sections away from eating areas. I've not been in a pub that has that many dogs all over the place and jumping on seats where people want to sit. The place stunk of wet dog. Won't be going back

It's a decent looking bar with an acceptable drinks selection, but a lot of the clientele don't look like very... pleasant people. I usually sit outside and have a quiet drink, as the other guests look quite miserable and bring down the vibe. I apologize to the owners for giving a lower rating because of your clientele, but the type of people who drink at a bar affect the experience at that bar just as much as the drinks and Feng Shui

Food was not as good as expected for price

Been a regular here for years. Food has gone downhill recently. Came today to find pub half full but the empty tables were all reserved for the football match. We left and came to the Village where there was plenty of tables (none reserved) and a better clientele. Won’t be back here. Couldn’t run a bath never mind a pub

Light and airy bar area that allows week behaved dogs, slightly darker dining area. The staff are polite and welcoming. The tables aren't jammed together. The food was good and fast enough, but not too fast. It all looked and tasted fresh. Proper big yorkies! Good sized portions. Deserts were delicious. Special mention for the Eton Mess Sunday! At £25 a head for two courses it was very reasonable. All good in terms of accessibility too. Step free access and disabled parking. Just ask for a table by the window rather than a booth if access is an issue. I would recommend. Wendy

I used to work here. Loved it until KJ started. She’s not a bad person, just a terrible manager. I came in the other day as I wanted to see my old colleagues. All was well until she walked over to me and my girlfriend and said “due to the reasons you left, please leave the bar staff alone” bearing in mind there was no one at the bar. She has been cutting back everyone’s shifts. And she is just down right rude. She’s changed all the card machines as well to stupid wireless ones that die every two minutes slowing down the management of the line as they’ll all be fight over the only card machine that’s charged! 0/10 vile woman. The list could go on if I had the patience

I came here with friends for a couple of drinks and some food. The food was not planned originally. We ordered some fries for the table at 10 past 9. At 25 past 9 we tried to order a pizza and dessert to be told that last orders had already been called. Considering we were sat next to the bar and we were not informed at any point that the kitchen was closing, I don't find this acceptable. After we had attempted to order food we returned to our table where a server came to collect the food menu. I can only assume that the kitchen had not in fact closed at 25 past 9, as the menus were collected at half past 9. I found this experience extremely disappointing,especially due to the lack of information given to us upon asking for food.

Come here once a month and have always loved the Sunday lunches . Today there were 9 of us and was so disappointed with both the slow service and the food. I always get the chicken and love the stuffing that comes with it. Today there was no stuffing so asked the waitress to get us some as I thought they had forgot to put it on. I was then told that they've stopped putting stuffing on but could order some for £3 !!! I think this is a bit too expensive on top of the £15 price for the lunch. I got one pig in blanket but it didn't have a blanket on and was very pale and undercooked and I really didn't understand why they would put a spoonful of cold pickled red cabbage on a Sunday lunch so that was really disgusting . I was out for my birthday and picked to go here because although it is pricey compared to other places the quality has always been superb but I don't think I will ever go back . Service was very slow and after raving about it to loads of people over the years I feel very let down .

Popped in with my son had a quick bite to eat and drink. Our food was stunning, we will be back

Was great first time here friendly staff great food and fast service one down side highly priced for a dinner £18 a think it was so for 2 people to eat with 1 drink each came to over 40 pound but dnt let the price put you off as the food was realy nice and very filling

Me and my partner went for Sunday dinner on 2nd of July, having previously had a good experience in May. Unfortunately standards have dropped significantly and the prices have increased. We both ordered beef roast, which cost £18 each. This arrived within 5 minutes of order. The beef consisted of two thin slices that was approx 25% fat. The veg consisted of pickled cabbage (not exactly fresh as claimed) 3x roast potatoes, a single green lead of cabbage, a green bean, a small carrot, a couple of mange tout and some swede mash. This was accompanied by a single Yorkshire. Rarely do I finish a Sunday dinner and feel hungry, today was the exception. Overall feel above all was that for 18 quid you expect more in every department. No peas, no brocoli, no mash, no stuffing.....all avalable as paid extras.

Amazing food today as always, service was brilliant. Thank you to all the staff for working so hard on a busy Sunday. Music made a great atmosphere. Lovely little blonde girl smiled throughout and made us welcome. Booked again for next week.

Our first visit having passed it several times. First impressions where of a busy, modern trendy bar. Opted to sit in the restaurant part but had to wait a few minutes before being shown to our seats. Tables were in need of a wipe down which we had to ask for. Food seemed expensive but given the quantity there was no need for a starter or dessert. Desserts were expensive, not far off the price of a main meal and drink prices made you flinch. Food quality good, probably the pick of the restaurants in the area but definitely a place to eat as an occasional treat. .

First time I have been here in a couple of years. It's a nice place for a drink. I am very disappointed to see that it is now a dog friendly pub. Who wants to eat a meal when there are dogs in the place. Wouldn't have food here as there are too many dogs. Feel that this place is overpriced for where it is located.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch for mams 85th birthday, lovely space for wheelchair to move around, we were served by Faye and Chloe who were great very helpful and polite, meal was delicious and hot, had a lovely afternoon

Not the first time to have been to this restaurant and won’t be the last. Friendly service and excellent tasting food, nice how there are vegetarian options for many of the meat dishes. Service was friendly, however I think portion sizes were small for the price paid and pints of beer were served rather than shandy’s which wasn’t the greatest!

Worst food ever served on a plate; had a sunday lunch with family for a bday celebration and i was treated like garbage when sent my pork roast back complaining about the gravy been so watered down, the Yorkshire pudding being so hard and dry, the veg assembled on a plate like they fallen on the floor and grabbed with hands and thrown back on the plate. The blonde spilt rude and ignorant lass who took my plate back came back to me after nearly 15 minutes saying that they didn't have any other complaints that day so dis-regard me like i was trying to sell cannabis....completely ignored my concerns as a consumer and ignored ignored the fact i totally dis-like the taste and flavourless food i was given and not even apologised to me. She did thought tried to buy my silent offering me a drink like i was some sort of alcoholic homeless tramp (which i guess she hangs around with a lot by her total lack of manners) trying to keep my quiet. I was in the middle of telling her that i didn't want any drink as the flavours of the food i as presented with put me off completely and i wanted a refund, and she walked away turning her back to us whilst in the middle of the conversation; the little minded, ignorant and rude spoilt pathetic kid. Worst service and customer care skills we ever experienced in the in the catering in the north east. Only talent she really wanted to show was her skirt lifted so high up that her backside was virtually on show.....very classy place.

Went downhill since I can remember. Attended today for Sunday lunch with family and the rudeness of one waitress particularly was overwhelming. Sent food back as it tasted of nothing, serviced with water washed gravy, the hardest and sadness Yorkshire pudding ever, probably made for New Year’s Eve considering how crunch it was, vegetable arranged on the plate like if they were cough falling off the plate. When reported that and sent the food back as a consumer right I was told that the chef…(funny work to use for “someone” that serve that garbante ) said no other complaint were made inlaying I was obviously wrong….no care or empathy for a customer concern , not even apologised for it, list walked off from our table whilst I was still talking to her….silly little spoilt and rude ignorant blonde child. Charged 15 quid for a plate of vomit…to be fair not sure what I was expecting myself considering ….not exactly Gordon Ramsey ….. Pathetic

A fantastic meal, we went for the trio of meats and it was really well worth it. Meat cooked to perfection accompanied by plenty of roast potatoes and well cooked veg with lashings of rich gravy. The service was exemplary, our waitress ( who I think was called lydia with blonde hair ) was bright, bubbly and so helpful, checking to make sure all was well with our meal and was quick to take our plates away and offer desserts. Really can’t recommend enough and will be back again soon. Thank you!

Called in last week for food and a couple of drinks. Ordered the veggie sausage and mash that came to the table as sausage and thick cut chips, but they were nice. Also had the Shawarma which was very nice and very filling.

We booked a small 50th Party with the manager who was in place in January. When it came to pay our deposit one month prior to the event, the manager had left and there was no record of our booking. The service we then received from the atrociously rude area Manager was abysmal. She casted doubt on the original booking and was extremely unhelpful. We were offered the date but at a cost. We would have paid the £££ but the Area Manager was so rude we decided to book the Holystone instead. It was an inspired choice, professional courteous and great customer service. The night was a great success and I'm sure the Holystone were happy for the full tills. ...

The current vegetarian options are very disappointing as they have gone down the vegan route and have no fresh vegetable based options. (The last menu included roast vegetable kebab or flatbread and halloumi kebab. Neither are currently on offer.) I ordered the "jackfruit" burger which was almost tasteless and had no discernable taste of anything resembling its main ingredient. Jackfruit is a lazy meat alternative and needs a lot of additional flavouring. The burger was basically a stodge of fried breadcrumbs, similar to the cheapest frozen veggie burger. I wonder if anyone in the kitchen has actually tasted this item? There was no coleslaw or side salad- just bun, the breadcrumbed burger with 2 lettuce leaves and chips. My expectations of the veggie options are very low but this was the worst so far. I am the only vegetarian in the group and usually just put up with the poor veggie offerings, rather than cause a fuss. I thought I'd give some feedback this time. Only 2% of the UK is vegan, 8% is vegetarian. Don't assume vegetarians are content with dairy free, over processed, fake meat and cheese - we are not.

Quiet evening but excellent choice of beers

This was my first time here in this beautifully decorated Bar... There is ample places to sit, whether it be a cosy sofa corner, or table, plus half moon seating around a table which my partner and I chose... I chose fish n chips with mushy peas and tarter sauce, the fish was fresh with delicious batter.... My partner chose the beef Yorkshire stottie which had a very ample thick slice of beef with extra gravy and chips. A portion of the huge onion rings also went down well between us. We will definitely be back to try out more of the menu... Plenty parking immediately outside, all on ground floor with easy access for disable chairs etc... On this occasion we didn't have alcohol so I cannot comment, but I could see that there was ample choice, cocktails included. Lots of outside seating for a sunny day. I would recommend a visit to this beautifully designed Bar 😊

What a good night. Came here with work. Lovely staff, good food and reasonable beer.

Decent pub for a drink, but food is pretty abysmal!! Ordered the chicken sizzler and chicken sharma . Not a zizzle to be heard when brought out. Half a breast of dried out chicken cut in 2 pieces with chips £15 which isn't cheap, wouldn't mind if worth it. Chcken sharma, pretty much the same. Dried out chicken and limp salad comlimented with picked red cabbage🤢🤢 why!. My advice is to eat before you arrive and have drinks only. What happened to a chef having pride in what they serve.

Excellent meal and kept my parents happy all day. Double win!

Service is good but it's very noisy. It's not a place to go if you want to have a chat.
