Lovely restaurant on the river front serving delicious food served by wonderful staff

Restaurant was half empty but told we could only sit at the little table at the top of the stairs where people were squeezing past. Staff were very unhelpful and to be honest quite rude. We visit other branches quite regularly but won't be coming back here

Superb Sunday lunch for unbelievably good price. Can’t recommend highly enough. Staff were really pleasant and helpful.

We decided to check out Sambuca Whitley Bay for a change. Gotta say, the food was top-notch, solid 10/10, cooked to perfection, and the service was great, this place has a fab atmosphere. We will be coming here again and really recommend!

Thursday 8th August called here ( first visit) for lunch, My Wife had Steak with seasonal Veg,I had Chicken stuffed with Ham and served in a Tomato Sauce with chips,all were served piping hot and delicious,very pleasant staff and we thought great value for money.Really handy parking almost opposite in car park above shopping centre.

First visit today. Not disappointed at all. Good service,Great Food at very reasonable price.

First time in this Sambuca, as always great food and service. It was quiet being Wednesday night, but that was not a problem.

I had alovely meal with two friends presented well and tasted just as good 👍 😋 😌

Used to be brilliant now just another rip off been going here for well over 10years the same order has tripped in price and the food has gone right down hill, chewy bacon,burnt potato skins rock hard. Last time I’m going such a shame.

Was very disappointed by my visit. Staff didn’t seem to care and everything seem like effort for them. Food was over cooked and didn’t have much taste. Really disappointed as in the past it’s been great but this time was awful. Won’t be rushing back. We were a table of 5 and no steaks were order and we did talk to the staff.

Absolutely spot on service staff were great and the manager was friendly will be coming back again.

Ordered a calzone pizza it came and I needed a sledge hammer to get in to it. The worse I have ever had.

Haven’t been here for a few years and I don’t know why not; the food is really really tasty and so cheap for what you get. Good wine at a good price and the best service with a smile. Bradley made our night!!! Thank you for such a memorable evening with lots of laughs.

We have been coming here for 12 years, both for quick meals when we couldn't be bothered to cook, and for family occasions. The service has always been fabulous and the staff are so friendly. Many great memories made here. The food is good -recommend trying the deep fried brie! - and they are accommodating with swapping out toppings on pizzas etc. I think the current upgrades they are making will look fabulous.

Visited on a busy Saturday night unbooked was seated within minuites the restaurant upstairs was busy the staff were attentive but not overbearing we ordered a bottle of wine and ordered off the blackboard the smoked mackerel pate was deliciously and the lamb shank was to die for so soft and juicy the tiramisu was so fluffy and fresh the night was amazing will definitely be back would give 7 stars if possible

Thought this would be good as the Sambuca that we go to on a regular basis near where we live in West Yorkshire, unfortunately it was not a good experience, l appreciate the fact it was Mothering Sunday and we did not book, but seriously the only enjoyable thing on the plate was the Roast Lamb, everything else was terrible, the young girl who was solely responsible for the ground floor was sadly out of her depth with people coming in, waiting for their tables to be ready upstairs, the seating downstairs needed to be replaced, damaged and battered, the seating area was dark and dingy, out of a 3 course Sunday was the Roast Lamb, my partner had the starter, he was told it was Minestrone Soup, tasteless, looked horrendous, as visitors staying in the Area for the Weekend, on a wet Sunday, we thought a Sunday Lunch would finish the day off perfectly, however we left very disappointed

Went to this restaurant last night (23/2/24) and really can’t fault the meal, price or the service. I had potato skins then cannelloni and my husband had garlic mushrooms then chicken risotto - couldn’t manage a sweet. My meal was very tasty and well cooked and of course, piping hot. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal, especially the risotto which he was of the opinion that it was the best he’d ever had. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the meal was well presented. We will have no hesitation in visiting this restaurant again.

Poor pizzas and over cooked pasta, u can actually see through the garlic bread! In Italy this isn't the way to do it! Pasta should be al dente not sloppy.

This was a great find and stop. We were cycling back home and called in for a quick pizza. The pizza was outstanding and arrived quick. Literally were down and dusted in 22 minutes. The venue is great, staff are friendly. I will be coming back again... Take my time the next visit.

Ordered a rare steak and it was perfect! Usually when I order steak it comes medium rare but couldn't fault it. Beautifully decorated and lovely staff but was upstairs so not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Very good value for money, three course meal deal for less than £10 per person and always delicious food too. Great service and lovely friendly staff every time we go. Will be back soon.

So disappointing. Been many times before but this has seriously deteriorated recently. Sunday lunch used to be lovely but sadly this beef was like shoe leather and the knife not sharp enough to cut it. On one of the coldest days of the year there was no heating on and the music was way too loud. We were planning to have our Golden wedding celebration, with 30 people, there next year but I think we will be better off at Cassia Sambuca where we have always had great food. We noted that it was not very busy when it used to be crammed on a Sunday. Maybe a change of management and or chef?

So we had a meal on a Wednesday night, it was a bit quiet as expected but the food and service was 5 Star. The 16.95 meal deal with a glass of wine for 2.50 was excellent. We would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back . The food is really good and no complaints.

I've been before and not been majorly impressed but went for a friend's birthday over Sunday Lunch. Roast dinner was actually pretty good, well cooked vegetables and Yorkshire, meat wasn't too fatty. Was very reasonably priced too.

Id call this place a banker - great value for money, quick service and good food. Destination for all our family birthday celebrations!

Garlic bread to share fabulous, thin crust, we all had filet steak with prawns and chilli off the specials board. Very tasty , good price. Bottle of house red £13.99 unbelievably good ! Cheap and cheerful type of place. We all had our steak cooked differently from rare to well done and they all arrived at the same time cooked to perfection, some high end places struggle with that! Definitely recommend, well done that Chef

Lovely Sunday Roast & lovely staff

Incorrectly ordered from here rather than North Shields but it was blooming gorgeous. Wentfor2 lunch specials, both had potato skins and we got more than if we went to a chip shop, then for main I went for the cannelloni and other main was a carbonara. Have had to put half my cannelloni to one side to have for lunch tomorrow! Portions were huge. Will definitely be back.

May 2023 - We visited on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was fairly busy. Before visiting we had checked about gluten free options and had been informed that pizza and pasta were available. When we came to order we were informed that they had never offered gluten free pizza, only pasta. The food itself was fine, but the service was really slow. We had to ask someone to take our order as we had been waiting a while. We only had 1 drink each as no-one came anywhere near the tables once they had taken the orders, other than to deliver the food.

Sorry guys, the galic bread was great, thin cripy nicely done but my pasta was awful, I ordered linguine and got spaghetti, the sauce was essentially water that had been shown a tomato and the seafood like rubber. Worst of all a small glass of house white, takes a lot for me to give up on the wine (seriously revolting) and the food. Maybe I should have gone for pizza? For the price I actually got a slice of my companions garlic bread and a few forks of pasta. We both tasted the wine as well, it wasn’t just me.

Had the 3 course set lunch. Nice soup, good meatballs, excellent sole with lemon and garlic, decent salad, tasty chicken with pepper sauce, lovely home made big chips, v reasonably priced drinks, v good service. 100%recommend

Terrible service. Me and my partner where having dinner with our newborn baby. We hadn't finished our meal and my partner was just walking around with our baby trying to stop her crying, then all of a sudden they came over and said " you have you leave because yous are intoxicated! " And made us leave! Whitley bay is a lovely place but I'll not return to this restaurant

I phoned up to book a table and check they offer gluten free options. I was told that they offer gluten free pasta and pizza and other things could be adapted. We went along at the time booked and were given menus. The furniture is very tired and the leather off the chairs had come off. We ordered drinks and despite but it was another 20 minutes before someone came over to take food order. Lots of staff were standing around but only one member of staff was taking food orders. When we finally ordered food I was told the only food I could have was gluten free pasta as everything else had gluten in and they do not offer gluten free bases. I have to say I was disappointed with this. I ordered gluten free carbonara which was not fantastic as the bacon was very chewy. Although all of our glasses were empty nobody asked if we wanted anymore drinks. I asked about the deserts menu if any were gluten free. After 10 minutes I was told I could not have anything as they all contained gluten. We paid the bill and then went to somewhere else to have deserts and more drink

Pizzas were lovely, potato skins and dips were also nice, garlic bread however was very dry and overdone. Collection was also confirmed for 12:20, arrived at the restaurant for 12:23, and received a notification saying ready for collection and ‘enjoy your food’ approx 12:30 BUT didn’t get given the food until 12:45, 20 minutes waiting around wasn’t good.

4 of us went here for a Saturday night out. I had heard bad stories about the place but was surprised by how much better it was than I expected. Yes the person who greeted us downstairs has no customer service skills, but once we were allowed up things changed a bit. We had a pleasant enough table. Staff were attentive but not over bearing. For what you pay the food is reasonable. I had a calzone pizza. The pastry was a bit hard but otherwise fine. If you are after a cheapish night out its worth going.

I went to Sambuca whitley bay and had excellent service from two staff called louie and Jenny I would fully recommend this restaurant as it is was exceptional

Ordered a steak and a lot of it was fat …they was no welcome feeling from staff and I had to ask for a steak knife ..I was in the Percy main restraint last night it the staff went over board and the food was to die for standards need to be raised there I will stick to Percy main or west allotment

Lovely food as always, order was bang on time, super friendly staff :) been going here for a decade or more and its always been fantastic.

Came all the way from durham as we had been before at Christmas time and was so impressed thought we'd give it another try, it is a trek, not oh my, it was so worth it, engaging and polite staff, lamb was cooked to perfection, you can get 3 courses for £10.95, but honestly the main course is so filling you really don't need a starter (unless you can manage) profiteroles to finish off, and at £9.95for 2 courses, it is seriously worth the trip.. Safe to say we will be back👍

Booked a table for 7, which included my daughter and her 4 friends. We had all had an afternoon celebrating my daughters birthday and they were all very hungry. We were slightly late (30 mins) after letting staff know. There was no problem and were sat within minutes of arrival. A lovely staff member came over to take drinks orders and then popped back to make sure everything was ok. He couldn't have been more helpful, a well mannered, polite young man called Bradley. The kids had an array of pastas and pizzas, none was left. I had the chilli beef risotto and it was absolutely delicious. My wife had the deep fried camembert. Her only complaint was there wasn't enough of it ! Would benefit from a wider wine selection.

Can just eat please help, I placed an order for collection on just eat to the Hartlepool sambucas. I'm not quite sure what happened but ended up going to the one in Whitley bay. Can i please have a refund for this please.

We were visiting for one night and looking for somewhere to eat on a Wednesday evening that wasn’t fish and chips and came across this restaurant, drawn by the 2 courses offer. We were seated quickly and given drinks. We were surprised how full the place was. We shared a half and half garlic bread. Hubby had the meat feast and I had the sea food risotto, all very tasty and reasonably priced

Garlic bread was absolutely drenched in grease, it wasn’t even edible. The bolognese was tasteless, literally had better from a Heinz tin AND the potato skins were black burnt again couldn’t eat. The restaurant itself stank of sewage. Awful

We came here for a meal when we were spending a few days in our caravan .We were made very welcome and given plenty of time to make our choices. I had a very enjoyable steak and my husband had a chicken dish which was just a little dry but very tasty . We both had a starter of garlic mushrooms which were delicious and a small selection of sweet desserts . Very reasonable prices and lovely to be out and about again .

Had high hopes for the place but unfortunately these were not met... soggy sides dishes and cold garlic breads, really hope this was just a slip up as the other reviews are all really good, however this did not match my experience.

Wine mark up really high but acceptable as a delivery. The calamari hot and tasty, not over cooked but as it was delivered in a plastic container it was ‘soggy’. Can I suggest it be served in a breathable paper, or something so that it doesn’t ‘sweat’ & loose crispness

pizza had a weird circle in the middle that contained no toppings other then sauce. service and timing was good, though.

Pizzas were spot on. Although delivered after the original time, the restaurant called to let me know the craic so I wasn’t hanging about.
