The New Inn in Rhondda Cynon Taf

This pub is a great place for good quality pub grub. You can either book the restaurant or eat in the bar. The quality of the food is very good and the service and welcome is excellent. I’d recommend the minted lamb steak !

I visited the New Inn for the first time yesterday following a recommendation from a close friend. We were a party of four. The service was excellent and the food was delicious and really good value. We all enjoyed ourselves. My first visit, but will definitely not be my last.

What a good pub. The food and service was excellent. We just walked in and the staff were so accommodating. The food was lovely.

Visited here for Sunday lunch. Booked on the morning and managed to eat at the time which suited us. When we arrived we waited a while to be directed to our table. The restaurant is not that large and the day we visited a large family took up most of the space with other tables scattered around the large table. Service was average, food was just placed on the table and nobody returned to see if we wanted extras or to see if everything was ok with our meals. The lunch wasn’t the best and the veg was very limited. We’ve visited here many times for food as such were very disappointed with Sunday lunch.

Second visit here for a meal and very disappointed both times. The first visit, half way through our meal a baby shower had been planned in the room we were eating and we were suddenly over run with a room full of women setting up props and moving tables around which left us feeling very rushed and uncomfortable as we were eating a meal in the same room as a private function. Second visit yesterday, booked in advance for a family of 5 for Sunday lunch. When we arrived it was very busy and we were seated on a table for 4 in the resturaunt . We were then asked if our 8 year old child needed a high chair or an extra seat. No extra seats available so we were moved to the bar where we were stuffed in the corner surrounded by drinkers with foul language throughout the meal. Understandable when your in a bar but we booked for a resuraunt family meal. Left us feeling again very uncomfortable and rushing to get out. Asked for sauces and they never came and nobody came to check the meals were ok either. Such a shame as the food was nice enough and would be a good local for us.

Just had a really lovely lunch. We ordered gammon and pineapple, chicken curry and steak and ale pie. Choice of chips or new potatoes plus veg. Good portions, everyone happy with their choice and was able to eat in the bar with the dog. Very friendly.

My husband & I had a lovely meal here this evening. I had the vegetable lasagne & my hubby had the steak & ale pie. We really enjoyed what we had & we were suitably full. The waiter was very personable, polite & was as attentive as we needed. We didn’t sit in the bar, but the barman was welcoming & we would return.

Such a nice meal! The landlord was really friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and he was so personable and chatty. The food was absolutely delicious (highly recommend the Four Falls Burger, the “boozy beef” was incredible!) and the portions were generous. A great little pub that I’d definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

I spent new year's break here. I had the pleasure of dining here, and it was nice. I spent new year's eve here. The drinks were inexpensive and was lovely. The customer service was on point. Being a lone traveller especially over new year's can be daunting, however it was the opposite. The staff, the landlord and the regulars of the pub made me welcome. I had an amazing time celebrating into the new year. I will 100% return in the future. Thank you

Called in for lunch as we were passing, and I am glad that we did. Excellent food and one off the best pints of cider I have ever tasted.. I will definitely be calling in again.

What a lovely find ! Very helpful bar staff. Easy to socially distance. Plenty of outside space and great views. Nice play area for children. Far from the madding crowd. Great !

We always booked our family celebrations here. Owners are wonderful people and the staff are always attentive and pleasant. Food is absolutely delicious, the minted lamb, grilled salmon and chicken curry are the favourites among my family. Would highly recommend to anyone.

all the meals are so full of flavor. their soup is a legend as is their steal and mushroom pies . and their Sunday dinners are always a full house .

My partner and I visited here for Sunday lunch today and I must say that the service and the food was fantastic. Very polite staff, got served quickly and the Yorkshire puddings were delicious. My partner doesn't like Yorkshire pudding but he even enjoyed it (not good news for me as I was hoping for an extra one lol)! Very reasonable price too. Will definitely be returning :)

Excellent lunch at the New Inn in Rhigos.We were a party of 20 and everyone enjoyed themselves.Our main course was served to all of us at the same time and the food was piping hot.The vegetables kept coming and the carrots were very good.Chips and salad were also plentiful.I had salmon in a chilli sauce which was cooked perfectly. The lamb steak was also a big hit.The staff are well organised, helpful and efficient.The atmosphere was good and we all left with a smile on our faces.A friendly,welcoming in a beautiful part of South Wales.Highly recommended.

I had a sirloin steak with salad. The steak was really good cooked just as I asked for accompanied with mushrooms and onion rings. However, the salad was really disappointing comprised of lettuce leaves one slice of cucumber, one slice of tomato and one slice of pepper as a side it would have been adequate but as my main accompaniment really poor. The Irish coffee to finish on did make up for it a bit!! Would visit again but not to have a salad.

As regular visitors to the restaurant we like the fact that the food is consistently of good quality. Service is usually prompt and friendly.

There were 18.5 (baby ) celebrating a family birthday. We booked several weeks ahead. Meal was excellent- we all had different (more or less). Food was cooked fresh and was plentiful. Staff helpful and pleasant. I made a mistake with numbers, but chef wasn’t fazed by that & made an extra meal. We have had a family meal here before, that’s why we were happy to go again. Excellent value for money.

Just had a delicious Sunday lunch with parents,husband and daughter every plate was empty. Really was best Sunday lunch we have had out in a long time.

Very disappointed with our visit. I booked this for lunch on a Sunday as friends have highly recommended it. Place is lovely and clean but as we sat at our table the waiter said just to let you know there is no lamb this was at 1.40pm surely you should have ordered enough in!! we was in the middle and felt like we was swimming in a goldfish bowl! couldn’t have a full conversation as we couldn’t hear each other !! I asked for a children’s menu only to be told sorry we don’t do those on a Sunday you can have sausage but no chips or nothing else! Not all children like a Sunday dinner so my son sat there with no food! We ordered food which was ok not worth the price you have to share a split bowl of veg between 3 people I would prefer veg on a plate or do a carvery!!! I am very disappointed and won’t be returning! Totally ruined a family day out!!! Avoid!!

Passed this local many times but decided to treat the family and have Sunday lunch. Lovely meat and gravy but only half a roast potato given and rest of veg tasted tinned. Shame, was a lovely clean welcoming pub, staff great. Disappointing mediocre meal.

Popped in on the off chance with my partner on a quiet Thursday early evening, staff were very friendly and the food was lovely. I would recommend the 16 oz gammon.

Enjoyed lunch with friends-were allowed to stay way after meal-undisturbed. Scampi-good-choice of salad or vegetables. Nice dining room.

Whilst driving towards Brecon we came across the new inn in rhigos.

Excellent, food, service and welcome at this lovely country pub. The food is always excellent and very well presented. Sunday lunch is also exceptional good value and plentiful. A must for a change on a Sunday, (and no dishes to do).

I haven’t been back home to wales for quite a while and we decided to go back to the New Inn with some family. Very nice lunch, and the staff were lovely - high;y recommended !!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch on New Years eve with friends ,there were sixteen of us which were eight children all were looked after ans they ate all their food too

Great food as usual. We all had different choices but all enjoyed what we had. Great atmosphere and service as well so couldn't fault.

Been to the new inn 3 times in a fortnight does that not speak for itself !! Owners and staff will look after you well, and your dogs, v.dog friendly, an absolute plus for us . All I can say is perfect I never have 3 courses but its a must here because it's all so good - but do not be fooled the portion sizes are big !! Perfect hosts staff and food what more would you want, this pub is excellent and just wait till the fires are burning in winter !! Love it :)

We came along as a family group where we reiceved a very good welcome and excellent service who served us very very tasty food indeed. Quite a few of us as our main meal had the Pork and Apple Saucage which were very tasty with a really tasty mash and covered in a very tasty gravy. Others enjoyed the plaice, but all left clean plates. There is a good choice of starters and deserts which don't dissapoint at all. A truly wonderful night enjoyed by all which would not disappoint you. I would certainly recommend a visit because I will be going back. The service from Luke Taylor was top draw and Shona James behind the bar the same.

Sólo tuvimos el almuerzo de domingo en the new Inn y tengo que decir que es muy bueno y la relación calidad-precio y el personal son buenas para empezar, son muy amables y agradables.

Fuimos allí para el té una noche ya estábamos cerca. El personal era muy amable y la comida era muy sabrosa.

Había que lidiar con 18 personas para el cumpleaños 80 de mi madre th. El personal de cocina, camareros y camareras eran geniales. Muy servicial, nada era demasiado problema, agradable y educado. la comida llegaba al mismo tiempo para todo el mundo y todas las comidas eran calientes y muy agradable, ni una queja.

Variedad riquísima de comida recién preparada. Servicio cordial y eficiente. Ambiente relajado. Siempre es un placer visitar.

No puedo encontrar fallos a este lugar para lo que es. Un simple limpio y agradable pub grub con buen pueblo de calidad.

Cenamos en un sábado por la noche, el ambiente y el personal era bastante agradable y bien pensada para las comidas dietéticas especiales. La comida en sí, sin embargo, era un poco decepcionante aspecto negativo, tuve la oferta especial de cadera, que era una comida muy aburrida y sin sabor.

We have just returned from a week in Rhigos and stayed opposite The New Inn so used in for four evenings. The staff very friendly, good pub grub, the Penderyn tart is amazing, we bought some home with us

Called in with around 17 other people for a lunchtime snack following a walk in the vicinity. The snacks were excellent - plenty of choice, well presented and quickly served even though there were a variety of dishes requested.Staff were friendly and efficient.Been here at various times in the last few years for snacks, lunch and dinner and itnever fails to impress.

Dai the Chef by far the most amazing steak chef ever. Every meal on the menu is absolutely fab. Lovely welcome, and the waiting staff excellent.

We stayed in a cottage very close to the New Inn. We ate out there on 2 evenings. You might find the menu limited, but we didn’t. Despite being busy the service was excellent. The portions are generous and great value for money. The staff and locals are very welcoming. Good beer selection. (closed Mondays as we found the hard way)

Went with my wife for lunch, went through bar into restaurant where after taking a seat we were told we'd have to go and sit in the bar as they had a funeral due in(there were others sat in there which were allowed to stay even though they were nothing to do with the funeral. But we respectfully went into the dingy dark bar to eat, the tables were tiny and low so we went and sat at the top end of the bar which was even darker.The waitress came and took our order 1 chicken curry, rice + chips (described as a tikka massala) and a chicken and bacon in white wine sauce and chips.Took an absolute eternity to arrive, even though there was only 1 other couple eating in the bar and the 3 tables that had already had their food in the restaurant.The curry was nothing like a tikka massage, there was 4 or 5 small chunks of chicken in a sauce that resembled a super markets own brand curry sauce.The chicken and bacon in white wine sauce was lovely in all fairness.However, through most of our meal, the waitress and bar maid seemed yo be doing dodgy dealings with someone that had come into the pub.When we went to pay the bill I noticed that we had been over charged for our food, so I enquired how much each dish was,and we were charged about £10 for the curry, which was marked up as £7 on the bar menu,and nearly £11 for the chicken and bacon dish which was marked up as £7.50 on the bar menu.The reason..... because we had gone into the restaurant and then into the bar, they charged us restaurant prices.Absolutely shocking!!!The food was ok at best.The venue was dark and dingy. (The restaurant part is very nice if they let you in there)The service was very poor.Will not be returning.

Ordered 2 fillet steaks. Paid a fortune for them and asked for medium rare. They were well done. Looked like a nice piece of meat but spoiled by the way it was cooked. Really disappointed. Won't be returning.

Well what a place to visit Jan the proprioter very accommodating. very friendly staff the meals excellent. A variety of meals were ordered and all meals good. Steak cooked to perfection. Minted Lamb Steak very nice the mint sauce to die for. Would recommend this restaurant must visit will definitely be visiting again.

Hadn't visited this restaurant for a few years, but new owners had taken it on, and six of us went there to celebrate a Birthday. Staff very pleasant and we were given a warm greeting as we were shown to our table, and as soon as we settled, our drinks order was taken, served within two minutes.Our food order was taken after about five minutes, there being a fair selection of dishes to chose from. This was served to the table within ten to fifteen minutes. The food looked good but alas, the portions were quite small, and the Plaice fish that one of our party ordered was considered to be "quite tasteless", so overall, a little disappointed with the whole evening.Must add that the chairs are solid , heavy wood and are cushion-less,so you tend to feel a little tender in the nether regions after about an hour! (may be a ploy to get you out after the meal!)

Friendly welcome at the new inn, situated in a quaint little village. I had a perfectly cooked Sirloin Steak and chips at the end of a days walking.

Visited my parents in S Wales and ended up going here for lunch as it is a place they regularly use. The staff are polite and friendly and the food is very tasty, and all cooked fresh. The cost of 4 meals and drinks was under £50 which I thought was a bargain. Would definitely return.

Everything was really outstanding. Food, drinks, service...The place was really busy but they found a table to accommodate the 6 of us, gave fabulous advice and were very friendly. Will be definitely go again

Me and my partner went here for food last night food was lovely restaurant lovely but service was awful there were two young girls working and we were told to sit at table then left for 10 minutes until asked if we would like a drink then I had to ask for menus as the young girl replied yes let me go and grab one and went took one off another table that were in middle of ordering once we had finished our started we weren't asked if everything was OK or if we had finished the girl just came from behind us picked up plates and walked off without a word we were then given our mains and again not asked if everything was OK just left to get on and then cleared again without a word the whole time we were having our meal the two girls were stood in corner of room just giggling so unprofessional in a restaurant such a shame as food was lovely just need to sort out the service

I ordered the ham and cheese roll with mash and the bartender looked at me like I had three heads but that's what it said on their menu of the day...Lovely big fire place to warm up after a walk. Dogs welcome. So are hikers- muddy boots accepted. Food ok- but the LARGE hot chocolate is wonderful! Seemed a wee bit overpriced for the what it was.

This is just good honest home cooked pub food. Not gastro, not so far up itself, just honest fare. However the prices are amazing , 6 of us for less than £50! Just leave room for pud. The staff are delightful, chatty, and know the menu. Been there many time on visits to family and will certainly go again.

The New Inn, Rhigos is a traditional pub in a village with a popular restaurant attached. Jan and Chris the hosts always make you feel welcome along with their staff. On the numerous occasions we haves dined in the restaurant we have always been served with delicious food and at very reasonable prices. I would recommend Sunday Lunch

My wife and I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The food itself was good but the menu very limited.We sat in the restaurant which was fairly quiet, the bar itself was busy.I will return again in the future but would like to see more options on the menu

the restaurant was quite full for Thursday lunch time and was quite lively . Service was good but the waitress got my husbands main meal wrong and he ended up with the same as I had, not the curry he ordered. He was OK about it and enjoyed it starters - nice but small ..deserts - I had apple and raspberry tart - which was nice and had plenty of custard with it. My husband didn't have any.Overall enjoyed.

Have been living nearby for 2 years and Decided to pop in and try out the food, was warmly welcomed by staff at the bar and provided with bar menu and restaurant menu. We then went into the restaurant and were approached by to waitresses straight away, food ordered and received in good time, which was really nice, only criticism is that there are no vegetarian options on the menu itself and we had to ask what the options were, there were only 2 options. Overall really enjoyed the meals and will be returning

Visited just after New Year on a Saturday lunch time. Menu choice was good. I enjoyed a starter of chilli fish cakes followed by a steak and ale pie. The best bit was that they served 'real' chips! The portion size was so generous, I couldn't fit in a dessert.

Lovely atmosphere fair play food is good a tad overpriced for the area. Defo worth a visit in the summer months as location is good.

Had a lovely meal here last night with my partner, both had fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection, even my partner who is very fussy cleared the plate! Staff were very friendly and quick service. Will definitely return for a meal again! Highly recommended. X

only now im getting around to writing this review from june 2015. We booked sunday lunch for a family of 24 people inc children, the service was fab, the food very very good, and the whole atmosphere was just perfect.

i used to fe a regular here many years ago, they were famous for their cow pies back in the 80's and I have many happy memories of meals out here. This was a first visit in ten years and we were a party of seven for lunch. The food was absolutely out of this world; three of us had steaks (fillets) which were beautifully tender and cooked perfectly, the peppercorn sauce had a delicious kick to it too. I don't think I've ever had a better steak. The service was prompt and very friendly. Highly, highly recommended!

21 of us celebrated my father in laws 90th birthday last night. Had a very enjoyable time with both staff and management making us feel welcome. Food was generally good although some of the steaks were a bit chewy. Overall good Value both food and drink

A lovely welcome when we entered through the bar. It was a typical country pub type atmosphere. We were shown to our table and received quick and pleasant service in the restaurant. We had three courses which were all well cooked and nicely presented. A very enjoyable Sunday afternoon.

We stumbled on this pub after doing the waterfalls walk from Penderyn and trying to find somewhere to serve a meal at 2.15pm. Very friendly service, limited choice but tasty food and excellent value for money.

the pub had been recommended by friends,so we called in Friday 3rd Sept . We were the only ones in the restaurant. It was pleasant comfortable and staff were really lovely.Menus was not extensive but covered all needs . Starter was not huge but tasty - I had Thai fish cake ; my partner had spring rolls. Mains - gammon I had chicken curry .Mine was very well spiced with plenty of meat and half and half, chips were served in a little bucket in "newspaper", My husbands gammon was one of the best he had had he said. It came with egg, pineapple, mushrooms, peas chips . desert - white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake for me, apple and rhubarb tart for him Both with ice cream with 3 drinks bill was just over £40.Very enjoyable will go again

4 adults and 2 children. Arrived at 1830 on a wet Thursday eve. place filled up good atmosphere, great staff- not a huge menu but we all had something different. Every choice was great- pork steaks were tender with great sauce. Plaice was cooked to perfection. Chicken breasts were tasty. Kids cleared theirs. No wine but the bill came to under £50!!!!!!!! amazing value and really deserves support. Good simple food, done really well. [ man on table next to us had gammon- mmmmmmmm]

My partner recommended this place to me so we went there for dinner on a rainy night in Rhigos. I was not disappointed. Rustic wooden tables and a nice ambience set the scene for a deep fried Camembert starter followed by what was, in my humble opinion, the greatest steak and ale pie ever baked. My beautiful partner went for prawns in batter with a spicy sauce to start and then supreme of chicken in a white wine sauce. I sampled them too and they were a taste sensation. Good service from a pleasant waitress made for an excellent evening. The New Inn comes highly recommended.

I'm vegetarian. Was unable to have three courses as the leek and potato soup was cooked in chicken stock. Three options of starters none of which were suitable for vegetarians.

The meal was average. Yorkshire puddings were way over cooked and they were mean on gravy and veg. One roast potatoe no stuffing or parsnips. The starters were fine as well as the desserts. Had to ask five times for a jug of water for the table. I would go there again possibly week day but not for a Sunday meal.

Lovely Sunday lunch, everything cooked to perfection. Would have liked more veg and potatoes though. Would have a starter next time as portions not that big. Love this place though and visit regularly.

This is the very best place to eat in the area. Be warned, you really should book a table on a Sunday or risk being killed in the rush . The food is spectacular and the staff absolutely, the best. Nothing is too much trouble and they produce miracles from the kitchen.

I had booked sunday lunch after reading good reviews on trip advisor..Staff were most friendly efficient and service was prompt....Sadly the food was not very good at all....vegetables very overcooked...roast potatoes could not be cut and the yorkshire pudding must have been sat for a very long time...we had booked lunch for 2pm.Meat...pre cooked and sliced...Shame as I had expected more....

I went with my fiancée for her birthday meal. Portions were huge :D, but good quality. My medium rare steak was cooked to perfection tips. The staff we polite and attentive.Very comfortable atmosphere and decor :D

Called in on way home from hospital visit by chance thinking they don't serve food on Monday but being bank holiday it was not the case bar meal we had curry for the mrs roast beef in pepper sauce fresh real chips swift service massive thumbs up highly recommend

I had read bad reviews about this place!Then I found out they reffered to the previous owner so decided to give them a chance and it wasn't a mistake. We were there for a pub lunch to meet and 'online' friend who I hadn't met in person before.The bar meals (we didn't use the restuarant) were excellent and the drinks were fine.................and we paid a lot less than expected !!The lady behind the bar (owner I thik) was extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to help us.Its an excellent place, forget those out of date reviews and like us you won't be disappopinted either.Highly Recommended

Went to this quiet pub in Rhigos for our monthly MCC meeting and it was such a nice place. very clean and the owner is really good and friendly. We will be there every month from now on :)

We booked this pub/restaurant for a family celebration for 50 people. The team at the New Inn could not have been any more accomodating. They provided us with a varied menu to suit the range of people attending, including children, at a very reasonable set menu price.On the day of the function we were given access to the restaurant to decorate and the staff were on hand to help arrange tables etc as we wanted. The food was of a high quality and everything was served piping hot. There were no complaints at all, only compliments.All in all, I would highly recommend the New Inn for both its food and its suitability as a function room.

My wife and I called into this pub/restaurant by chance as we were out for a quiet drive in inclemant weather.We found that the signage left a little bit to be deired and so instead of going into the restaurant we went into the pub. Despite this we were not disappointed.The bar was very clean and well laid out and the welcome was friendly.The menu on the bar was hand written and we only saw it by chance though there was a chalk board opposite the entrance.My wife ordered the chicken wrapped in bacon whilst I order the steak & ale pie. The chicken was well presented and very tasty though the portion was quite small. The pier was very nice and the chips, which were exttemely hot.

Since my last review we have been there a few times in the week and for our second Sunday lunch. We have to say we have not been disappointed in any of the meals we have had. The food last week and today for Sunday lunch was excellent. The service was very efficient in serving the meals and cleaning up the tables after. The staff were quick on their feet and attentive especially as the restaurant was full. They were standing at the back of the restaurant watching all the time to see to the customers needs. It was a set menu and all the veg and meat was cooked perfectly. It was reasonable priced at £6.95. Starters and dessert is extra.

We have been there three times for a meal now and we have definitely not been disappointed. The Steak and Ale Pie is one of the nicest I have eaten as it is not served in a dish but on your plate. The staff are really accommodating and welcoming. It has been quiet each time we have gone there so we can't say what it is like when there is a crowd there to be attended to. I will definitely give it top marks on our experiences so far.

Always a warm welcome as soon as we enter from Chris the landlord and Keith the barman. We always eat in the bar area, and the food without fail is always excellent, and superb value. I would recommend the chicken curry with the home made chips. We do not live local but we feel like this little pub is our local.... I highly recommend to everybody, a little traditional pub with friendly staff and excellent service every time..

I agree totally with the last review, mainly because I was part of the family mentioned. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the food and drink was all served in a friendly and efficient manner. Chris was the perfect genial landlord and did not hold the fact that we are from North Wales against us! I would be extremely happy to visit this attractive pub again and thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is lucky enough to be in the area.

We were staying across the road to the New Inn in Rhigos and so it was very convenient for us to visit our temporary local for a pint!! We happened upon quiz night and were welcomed in with open arms - lots of fun and we ended up winning and earning ourselves a free round of drinks. We returned the following night with family for dinner and were made very welcome by the friendly landlord Chris. We ordered meals and everyone of us enjoyed our hot, tasty food. There is a restaurant in the rear of the pub but we chose to eat in the lounge area. Service was excellent and the quality of the food was great. The home made chips were amongst the best I have had at a restaurant. When we are next in Aberdare/South Wales we will for sure make a return visit!!

A little overhyped the place nevertheless offered befall I required from an eatery. Good food, service adequate and price fair. I'll go again

dreadfull food, no wine in the place, apart from half a bottle of rose ! dirty seats and quite smelly place. big portions of inedible food. the chicken curry was so waterey that, that the chicken sat on top of the rice and the liquid sank underneath, hard rice and uncooked chips, i have to say this is the worst meal out i have ever had !!!

Went to the new inn on tuesday 29th july, with my partner and little girl, we had curry and my little girl had chicken nuggets we enjoyed it all, my partner even had room for a ice cream sunday, will be returning very soon

12 of us went here for my dad's birthday meal had to say the food was delicious, when we first had the menu it weren't to much to chooses from I ended up having the minted lamb and it's the best meal iv ever had out my partner had the tender chicken in tikka sauce and he really enjoyed, then had afters, apple pie and custard and it was stunning, would highly recommend this pub for both a quiet drink and a meal. Has a lovely play area for kids aswell so they won't get board.

This is a pleasant friendly country pub. The menu was very well thought out and the food was well-cooked and presented. The service was good and efficient and prices were excellent.
