We visited on a busy Friday night with family and were greates warmly and shown to our table. The service was excellent all evening so couldn't fault this. The fish and chips I had was solid, nothing to write home about and the others in the party had a couple of different burgers that we ok. Portions were of a good side, although the chips could have been crispier and the tartar sauce and peas I had did lack seasoning. A very good selection of Welsh ales brewed on site.

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Bunch… five star. The food was delicious, the staff and service really, really good. Ordered a glass of red and it was on the table within a minute! Gareth has done a great job of training the staff & managing front of house… I would highly recommend the Sunday lunch. Fantastic, we will be back.

Visited at lunchtime on a Saturday. The restaurant was understaffed , but the waiters were excellent.. that's the only positive... We may have chosen badly, but our meals were rather disappointing. One of us had the Goan curry.. tasteless and served in an awful shop bought Naan bread. To be fair, my husband ate it, but it totally lacked any flavour. The meal I had was acceptable, as the meat had been well cooked and had flavour, however, it was sandwiched between 2 pieces of bread that were soaked with the sauce.. a really odd combination.. the chips aren't homemade either. The food is definitely not Gastro.. at best , very average pub food.. Had high hopes, but sadly won't be returning. Thankfully the staff were extremely polite and welcoming, hang on to them and improve your menu..

This is now back to the gastronomic delight of Pontypridd that it used to be. We had three courses and each course was first class. A great early evening with excellent food and great beer. It's been a few years since I was last at the Bunch of Grapes, and the food has always been very good. Some colleagues arranged lunch on Friday 8th. The menu was really disappointing, just burgers, wraps and light bites, nothing like the menu I remember from my previous visits. I opted for the chicken Gyros, which I imagined would be kebab style barbecued chicken with salad and tsatziki on a fresh, fluffy flatbread, with chips. When it arrived, it literally looked like someone had opened a chicken wrap from Tesco, warmed it up and put it on a dinner plate. Pale chicken with some leaf and tsatziki in a wrap, no salad, no sense of a genuine Gyros. The chips arrived a few minutes later in a bowl, very pale and undercooked. And all this for £12!! It wasn't inedible, but it was massively underwhelming and very poor for a pub that has had such a good reputation. The beer from its own micro brewery is great and the recent renovation works look good. Shame about the food.

Four friends went for a meal at 5pm. Freezing cold in the bar area of the pub. One of our party had fish & chips. Fish batter was very pale and the fish was sloppy. Chips were anaemia; so undercooked & unappetising. Chilli loaded chips ordered by another friend were also white & undercooked. The chicken katsu burger was tasty but overall very poor. Would definitely not recommend the food served here which is a shame as the pub is actually very homely.

Our first visit to "the bunch of grapes" it makes such a refreshing change to go to an establishment where all the food is cooked fresh, to order. I had the brisket, my wife had the vegetarian option. The food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. A first class selection of beers (including "clear head" a very tasty low alcohol one). The staff and service was superb. The hosts Fay & Nick were delightful. Thank you.

Arrived for mid week lunch with family - the bar was cold & unwelcoming so I asked if they could light the wood burning fire to be told by bar staff they didn’t know how to & anyway didn’t have any logs. I asked if they’d put the central heating on as radiators stone cold - the pub had been opened for 45 minutes by then. Had to keep my coat on & to cap it all the fish & chips were dreadful, batter was thick & the chunky chips hadn’t been properly peeled as they still had ‘eyes’ in them. The restaurant makeover was good but staff need to make dining there a pleasant experience - very disappointing

Dirty fries at the moment (building work being done) is the only gluten free item on the menu. Went with family and for what you got as “Steet food” was not impressive and pricey. Paper plates and wooden cutlery. Hopefully they’ll employ a “chef” who doesn’t use catering mixes and knows how to provide a basic tomato sauce for curries or how to thicken a sauce correctly. No gluten free lager but “can give you a cider”

My local pub I have nothing but praise for them 5* reviews is the norm but they have lost the plot. They brew their own beer and have a really good tradition for brewing good cask beer but have now started to serve the same beer as keg beer and it’s awful. The bunch has always been known for the diversity of the beer that they serve and served good keg beer from breweries such pollys deyer and verdant etc visited tonite and left as beers available were soo poor Met a number of regulars in another local pub who were not drinking in the bunch for the same reason. I hope this review is considered as constructive criticism as the pub is a gem but needs to consider all tastes?

Absolutely World Class lunch. The Bunch is always a great place but sometimes it even exceeds it’s already excellent offerings. I visited with a friend and we sampled 4 dishes off the menu. Three were from the starters menu and one main. Everything was first class. Well thought out and the ingredients all complemented each other to perfection. There are few places to match the bunch on a good day. Excellent and always enjoy the environment is it’s dinner or just calling for an excellent fresh beer.

After coming here for yrars, this is my last visit. Three of the group were unwell after eating fish. We all said how hard the batter was ... it was clearly cold and refried to heat through. The batter was dark, brittle and bitter. AND we waited well over an hour for the order to be served. One guest, the only to order a starter, was served burnt toast which should never have left the kitchen.

We gave the Bunch a second chance for food after a very poor meal last year - sadly it hasn’t improved. In 2022 we had a meal, the meat was tough and the staff couldn’t even open a bottle of wine. The service was muddled and rude. We politely explained why we hadn’t eaten the food and there was no apology only a confrontation and we were told “the other table enjoyed theirs” (which is actually not true as they also sent theirs back). The second chance sadly disappointed. The menu is clearly ambitious and sounds interesting, but poorly executed. The cauliflower wings were undercooked and bland, the pork cheek baguette was stale and the chips were underwhelming. The beer is good and the service behind the bar is friendly, but sadly we’ll give the food a miss in future. It used to have a great reputation but it’s sadly declining. We need places like the Bunch in the area so I hope it improves soon

Friendly staff. The food was quite nice but rather over priced. Service was shockingly slow - took an hour and a half for us to get our food. The restaurant was not at all busy (we were one of 3 tables) and there weren't many people in the bar area either. I ordered a glass of pinot and it was delivered in a filthy glass with lipstick/lip gloss stains all around the rim. Had quite a long wait at the bar to request a replacement as no staff were present or serving for a considerable time. Then, rather than pouring a fresh, new glass of wine, the original contents (none of which had been drunk) were tipped out of the dirty glass into another dirty glass. Its a shame - the only real good points are that the venue is nice, food fairly good, albeit unnecessarily pricey (although we probably would have eaten anything after a 1.5 hour wait) and the staff were welcoming.

A disappointing visit for a belated Mother’s Day meal. After pre-ordering online and over the phone it was clear there was a mix up with the orders, all our online orders were correct but the ones put in over the phone were completely wrong. Either the person who took the orders over the phone wasn’t listening or couldn’t understand what was being said so decided to take a guess at it. They were clearly short-staffed as we only saw 1 girls waiting on all tables. Our first drinks order took around 30 minutes and it took around an hour for any food to arrive. When we got the starters there was one too many than we had ordered but we took it anyway as we were starving. When the mains arrived there were 2 too many which the staff mentioned multiple times to us, making it seem like we had made some kind of error that we needed to fix. They didn’t seem to pick up on the fact that there were 10 guests and 12 orders but assumed we had more people coming that had cancelled and we had failed to tell them, even though the booking stated 10 guests. We put another drinks order in before our mains but had to eat the entire meal without a drink. The food was bland, I’d ordered pasta which cost just over £18 and there was no flavour at all, and more vegetables than pasta so I was still hungry by the time I’d finished. Everyone else said they’re food was ‘okay’. When it came time for the desserts they had to take the Chocolate torte off the menu which they said we had pre-ordered 2 when actually we had pre-ordered 3 and a sticky toffee pudding but they didn’t have those on the preorder. So we had to look at menu again to choose something else. Alas! We finally discovered that the mix up seemed to been with the dessert orders. The chocolate torte ordered over the phone had been mistaken for pork and the sticky toffee pudding had been mistaken for steak. Food we definitely wouldn’t have ordered as the majority of us are vegetarian. As I worked in hospitality myself for many years I am usually very forgiving for any kind of mistakes or slow service but I could not excuse the bad experience we had.

We all had 3 courses which were all lovely, the lamb on the dinner was cooked perfectly! Again, the service was just much slower than you expect. We also had to ask for the bill twice as no one came back over the first time.. so just think this could be improved! Overall, couldn’t fault the food at all!

Visited here yesterday. Mainly Sunday cooked dinner on the menu, very good choice. Reasonable prices,£11 for one course,£15 for two courses and £18:50 for three courses. Booked table in advance following Covid regulations. Had to write each member of family on sheet of paper as you came into pub. Booked two tables in the conservatory. Very cold temperature within this area of the pub and it didn't improve whatsoever. People left the pub via the conservatory doors to keep one flow of visitors going one way because of COVID but every time the door opened it became extremely cold. The radiator was on but didn't heat this area. The table was dirty when we arrived and I had to ask for the table to be cleaned. Very prompt service. The prices of the drinks are high for the Pontypridd area which then bumped up the overall bill, £4:60 for a pint of Guinness!!! My son had fish and chips which he said was very nice. I had the beef brisket, overcooked and my husband had the rump which he enjoyed. Overall the food was very nice indeed but like I said drink prices expensive. The VERY cold room spoilt our afternoon out and in the end my father in law had to put his coat on, I didn't blame him and also my 16 yr old was also complaining of the cold. Not great. Mixed review, food very good, drinks expensive, cold temperature of the room, good service.

We arrived at our allocated time and was met by a very friendly waitress who showed us to the table. The restaurant was prestine and the staff adhered to all of the Covid measures in place. I can only describe the menu as amazing. There is a wide range of starters, mains and desserts including burgers, fish and chips, cajun fish finger sandwiches, beetroot pie and cod loin with mussels and cockles. We ordered beef shortrib which was served with vegetables, chive mash and a lovely ginger and lemon dressing. For dessert we had homemade ice-cream. The food was absolutely stunning and the quality of the ingredients was outstanding. There was an extensive selection of beers and wines. We would highly recommend the Bunch of Grapes and can't wait to come back.

Thank goodness for the Bunch of Grapes. During lockdown we haven't been many places but our local has been our saviour. This evening we booked a table just for a drink and had some of their amazing burnt ends with some really good kegged pale ales. Even though we couldn't do our usual mixing with our friends that go to the pub on a saturday night the staff are so nice and welcoming and the food which is so tasty made up for it. We had booked our table for 2 and a half hours but ended up being there for 4 hours. Had two stunning meals. The short rib with garlic mash my husband really enjoyed and I had the cod loin with saffron mash and mussels and cockles with a fabulous broth. Finished off with some yummy sticky toffee pudding. They have really upped their game during lockdown and we feel really safe while we are there. Well done The Bunch

My title says it all!My rib eye steak was a piece of meat only fit for a dog - tasteless, fatty, just awful and camouflaged with a grease ball pot of garlic sauce. My Wife's Hake was the size of her thumb on a bed of lentils (the noodles are still on their way)! Over £15.00!The waitress was happy to knock £2.50 off the bill, but wasn't going to pay £21 for a lump of clarified meat, so the Manager done the decent thing and knocked it off the bill.Who is the alleged Chef here? All in all a disgusting experience and a most unpleasant visit. The five star reviewers must be eating pig swill on a normal basis!Oh, and to conclude, it should be renamed the Snail & Tortoise - the service is that slow!

I located this hidden away and hard to find pub on a Sunday lunchtime in Sept 2020. I have a dislike for pubs that try to be restaurants when their proud CAMRA real ale record and awards are for their beer. They can't be both. It should be one or the other. When food takes over and everyone who crosses the threshold is expected to eat, then it isn't a pub any longer. I was allowed in and told to sit at table, not being used, but it was with reluctance. All I wanted was a pint. The ale was on a digital display tv screen, very modern, but the ale is expensive for this part of Wales. £4-00 a pint and a bag of ordinary crisps £1-20. The place was spotless, staff were hard working and the food I saw being carried out looked very good. Parking is tricky, the car-park can only hold around 8 cars.

Lovely takeaway meal on Sunday.Sunday dinner x 3 - 2 lamb dinners and 1 beef rump.Lovely...Portions could be a bit bigger (I’m sure the portion sizes for sit in are bigger) but I’m not complaining as it was acceptable size.A bit disappointed that when we ordered 1 beef dinner you get 1 beef gravy and order 2 lamb dinners and only get 1 tub of lamb gravy (same amount as the beef gravy but for 2 dinners?!?)Maybe it’s a mistake but it’s annoying. The dinner is lovely and can’t really complain about it.Shame about the portion size (it’s not small but not big either) and the lamb gravy issue or this would have got 5 stars.... however 4 it is,Don’t let it put you off.For £11 you can’t really complain

Arrived at allotted time only to be told no record of booking, asked waiter to squeeze us in and offered noisy corner of the bar. Most unhappy and waiter unwilling to help so requested manager who agreed to fit us in why the waiter could not use his brain I am not sure. Food was good in general although the cockles starter had shell in it. Service really poor, slow and inattentive. Waitress and waiter more interested in chatting at the pass than serving and the waitress was complaining she had to work too hard as there are fewer staff on! Waitress heard to tell guests she hates eat out scheme as she has to work too hard! Discount was welcome as the full price would have been high given the standard of service places like this don't seem to realize that they need to up their game if they are survive this pandemic crisis poor service and average food will result in closure

Our first post lockdown pub visit was to the Bunch and it was great. Seats are spaced out and service is quick. Staff will come to your table or you can order on your phone. Food and drinks were great. Thanks BoG!!

Visited the restaurant for a friend's birthday but were disappointed with the choice of food on the menu and thought it overpriced. Service was very slow ( we waited nearly an hour for our main course ) !I settled for pan fried lambs liver with mashed potato and caramelized read onion. The liver was seriously undercooked with the potato tinged pink with blood ! I considered sending it back but as we had waited so long couldn't be bothered !When the waiter was clearing our plates he asked whether we had enjoyed our meals and I replied ' no not really. ' He didn't ask what was wrong but headed off to the kitchen ! Desserts again took ages to arrive. I chose white chocolate and raspberry bread and butter pudding. It was ok but bland and I failed to taste white chocolate. When the bill arrived we found that we had been charged for an extra meal which admittedly was taken off with no argument. Would definitely not return to this restaurant again.

Recently visited here with family. We all ordered something different and everything was perfect from the steak to the fish and chips. We have visited here many times and have always received a warm welcome. The food is of good quality which is reflected in the prices. Can't wait to return.

Having spent the day shopping in pontypridd with my friends we decided to pop into the bunch of grapes for a bite to eat. There was lots to choose from and the food was amazing and of ample size. The pub was clean and welcoming.

Nice traditional pub in an unusual location. Plenty of space, very spit & sawdust, original pub with a trendy feel to it. To the left saw locals drinking a fantastic selection of real/craft ales with the right hand side lending itself to the restaurant area.Nice menu, sone interesting choices.Service was ok initially but when drinks ran out we found the waitress chatting away to the chef & not attending to the tables - I had to go to the bar eventually having failed to get her attention.I ordered the flat iron coffee rubbed steak with chimmicurri & dauphinois potatoes. When it arrived there was no dauphinois potatoes only boiled/seasoned/fried new potatoes (i’ve seen this before it must be a trick when they run out). Dauphinois is creamy garlic sauced sliced potatoes in my experience. We then had to request salt & pepper for our table. The steak was delicious but sadly it had a line of gristle running through 3/4’s of it which meant I couldn’t even cut it let alone eat it. Eventually I managed to cut around most of it. I would have sent it back if i could have seen any staff & definitely if i was paying for it myself @£22!Parking & turning is also a bit challenging.Would i go again...yes probably- perhaps because it was a rainy Tuesday in Jan they may have reduced staff??Definitely worth a try though i know people who love the place, i think i was just unlucky.

Booked a table of 6 in the restaurant for a busy Saturday afternoon after the New Year. The food was top notch (do try the lentil curry, it's amazing) and the service was great. Couldn't ask for more, great food, great service and great beer. Cheers!

Can I say that I did a review in August. As always the beer is too notch. All I can at is that the barman last night is simply so rude. Does not give a monkeys. Not a smile or a simple hello welcome simply curt and indifferent. I’m not going back anymore. Your staff training really sucks. You're too complacent. Excellent beer as already. Shame.

We visited for Sunday lunch and had booked before our visit. There was a good atmosphere as the pub was almost full. Our food was very good and good quantities with plenty of vegetables to share. The pub does not impress from outside but the inside and the whole experience made our visit. With the pub being very busy the service we received was ok which gave us time to have a catchup chat. If we are in the area in the future a return visit is a definite. We enjoyed everything as we had no expectations before visiting.

We went for lunch after our visit to the Taf Activity Centre. The service was cheerful and good. We each had a main course and dessert. They have a good variety of beers. I had beef ribs with mash, I enjoyed mine very much but my daughter felt hers could have been more tasty. My desert of peach was really excellent. The cost for the three of us with drinks and tip was £92 for three of us which I felt was very reasonable. The toilet facilities were good too

First time at the potting shed. Excellent service and good food. Everything was prepared freshly. Had the pot of coffee as this was the only coffee on offer. It did not disappoint at all. Will certainly return. The gift shop was an added bonus .

Brilliant Host, Helen was amazing and made us feel very welcome. The food came out quick and tasted amazing. Home cooked traditional pub food. The chocolate desert was delicious and all at a good price. So nice to be greeted by a lovely team.
