Cracking pub. I was working in the area and decided to call in... great choice.

Friendly staff and good size portions however the roast dinner was very bland and the toilets are disgusting (which is an under statement). It has even put me off going back there just for a drink!

No Strongbow, No Vodka - this is supposed to be a pub!

Have stopped off a few times when walking the Taff trail and always a friendly welcome. Not eaten there yet but food looks great and seeing locals bringing their plates for takeaway roasts is a good sign.

What a shambles of a place I ordered 4 dinners for delivery at 3 o’clock I rang at 3.45 o’clock to the young girl hang phone up then rang back to be told delivery driver broke down then for a man to come on fone to tell me they never took or order & he would ring us back he needed to ask chief is there any food left which nobody called back disappointed in every way don’t recommend them to anyone

Excellent meal, choice of meats, turkey, pork or lamb, and my husband, non meat eater went for just the vegetables but was offered the nut roast. The meals were served piping hot with gravy served separately. Can’t fault it, well done Christine and Jamie. ♥️

It's lucky it has three stars, considering it was a rush event. epite the empty ''house'', the slow service because of their strange mellowdrone mood, since they didn't want to be there. Yet, the service was a rushed out fart, fast music, [eat to the beat], must eat quick since they didnt want anyone there. The three star is probably just for show really like thier oily manner. Watch for this ovepriced rip off, oyur better off eat at home

The appearance as we walked in was not good. No lights behind the bar, the barman looked bored, looking at his phone all the time. There were 4 other customers, and when 2 left, it was back to 4 customers. The kitchen is advertised as open at the time we called. We weren't asked if we wanted to eat. Not offered a menu. If the chef was there, you wouldn't have known. Also, the radio playing out of the television was annoying, too many adverts.

Had a Sunday lunch and a lot of tea at the navigation, and can honestly say that that the Sunday roast is easily one of the best I have ever had. The beef was was melt in your mouth and there was so much veg and the gravy was immense, a real home cooked taste and the atmosphere was amazing and friendly, the owners were friendly and chatty, I can’t recommend the navigation for Sunday roast enough... ❤️

We called at the Navigation pub abercynon for Sunday lunch.june 9th 2019.new management very welcoming.attentive. The Sunday lunch was amazing meat tender and tasty.the veg fresh and hot. Gravy to die for.. a must visit.

Not much of a choice on menu ,food was cold even though it was reheated, we chose jacket potatoe which seemed to have been pre cooked then warmed up in microwave ,wouldn't recommend having food there ,staff didn't even check to find out if everything was ok, very poor customer service

We booked food for mother’s Day. On arrival, outside was looking a little tired, so I hope as the weather brightens up outside will look fresher. Went inside, the wall colours have changed, some bright blue so not as easy on the eye but hoping for some good customer service and great food that the place had lacked for such a long time.. we ordered our drinks and sat at the tall table near the bar, one chair was on its last legs that shouldn’t be there so we avoided this. We waited around an hour to be seated and that was only because I asked when are we going to be able to sit and eat! When we were taken to the table, the waitress had to clean as it wasn’t done prior. Friendly waitresses took our order and then waited another 20 mins for food.. at this point I was getting rather agitated as I had three kids with me and we had booked so waiting shouldn’t have been an hour and 20!! The food arrived and at first I was a little disappointed with the tiny meat portion for a child’s plate and the size on the roasties, they didn’t taste the best, so hopefully next time they will improve roasties, fat and juicy potatoes rather than small dried out ones..but when the rest of the veg as brought out, all I could say was...they are very lucky the food was stunning as I’d have walked straight out if it weren’t! I was so very close to making a complaint. The food was delicious everything was hot and tasty, the gravy I will say was warm so we had to ask for new and by this time half had been poured onto our food so we added hot when new came. Apart from this the navigation do cook the best roast dinners around.. it’s just a shame the customer service and prompt service was not met!! I will be going again I just hop this time we are not waiting like this again! There’s no excuse as I can go to bigger restaurants with more customers and I can still be seated and served straight away! So they really need to get more staff in or maybe they need to reorganise how they seat people and make it work so they are more efficient.. I have given 3⭐️ for overall but for food I’d give a 5⭐️ Will be back x

Popped in after work as I heard it was in new hands . Bar is back looking well stocked and friendly staff. More importantly it was loverly and warm.

Called in for a pint while walking past with the dog, looks very nice and clean friendly staff, now I know where it is can't wait for the summer, would highly recommend as a stop of for taff trail walkers and cycling

Decided we would not go here again as it was always cold in the restaurant and food not good but heard there were new owners. So we called in. Great choice of beers, looked cleaner and was warmer. But this is the good points. I had hunters chicken with homemade BBQ Sauce. Sauce was not home made. Seemed like Heinz with a splash of Soy, not good. And a small piece of chicken under bacon and a good quality cheddar. Average and was not worth the cost. Wife’s local steak was tender but no taste to it, a bit like it had been frozen but I don’t think it had. No option of home made chips which is a must if they want to compete. Would I go again, yes if they made home made chips, but would try something different. Sorry it’s not a top review but sometimes you need some constructive criticism to make you better.

The Navigation is a large welcoming type of pub that offers great food with a friendly atmosphere in a great location.

Eleven of us called into the Navigation for a quick drink at the end of a walk today. We were welcomed by the owner who was very friendly. We didn't try the food, but it all looked very nice. The new owner only took over about 20 days but in that time he has done quite a lot to the pub and also has a Gin and Proseccor bar. The rest of the staff seemed friendly too. I would definitely give this pub a try. Good luck with your new venture.

Went today first time since new owners arrived, had 2 snack boards to share, sure is excellent value for the money, fresh and well presented , great service and friendly staff.

Firstly it’s not a carvery as the sign suggests. Dog friendly bar area.It’s very much a family affair with the children serving the guests, which they did very well, and also brought water for the dog. At 1.30 there was only one chicken dinner left which was a little surprising, but beef and lamb also on the menu, we quite enjoyed our meals, maybe a little bland and veg a little soft if you prefer al dente but overall quite pleasant and not expensive, we tagged it on to a taff trail walk.

Great roasts Good selection of beers ever attentive staff and owner, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Just a stones throw from Our home. With the did we sat in the bar with the inevitable Sunday Footie on the box which didn't throw us. Worth a stop on the way from Cardiff next time

Has changed owners good very good. They are dog friendly, have a nice outside area to sit when weather is good.

We started of as a spur of the moment play for the children ended in both myself, wife with hurting stomachs from too much spice. And one son starving as his tamato pasta was too spicy.

Went here for a meal as they state they serve all day on a Saturday. We ordered our drinks and asked for a menu. About 10min later I went to order our food only to be told the chef was not cooking for another hour. Okay we waited (3.45pm) until 5pm ordered our food. When it came it did not look appertising at all. Chips looked like they had been carved with a blunt knife all different sizes and at first I thought some of them would still be raw. The fish well, what can I say disgusting. It was under cooked, swimming in grease and juice coming from it, when you pay £20 for 2 meals you expect some sort of quality. Dont go there avoid like the plague

This little pub/restaraunt has a lovely friendly atmosphere with helpful & very friendly bar staff and also restaraunt staff, who always have a ready smile, with very prompt service for both pub and resteraunt with reasonable prices & excellent second to none service by the staff....Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

Spotted his place by chance, as we live approximately 70 miles away. Made to feel really welcome, the barman was totally charming. Food was excellent & great value for money. Would recommend it to anyone & will definately be going back.

Called in for a lunch-stop while walking on Bank Holiday Monday and waited a while to be served. Only two other tables occupied but we waited an hour for a cheese sandwich (as they didn’t have tuna) and faggots, chips and peas. If they’d warned of the delay we wouldn’t have ordered food as had to complete walk in darkness. Food OK when it arrived but disappointing first visit.

Disappointed with my meal of Chinese curry half & half. It tasted like powdered mayflower curry powder and the chips tasted like they had been cooked in oil that was in desperate need of a change. My friends fish was frozen oven processed fish, she wasn't a big fan and expected fresh fish in batter. Last week I went to the Hollybush and meals are much better quality for nearly half the price at 2 for £10. My curry was £8.75 and it was curry powder with water!!

Miserable barman, dogs running around everywhere and jumping up on peoples lap and very run down. Food not up to much either would not recommend nor return and when asked could I have veg instead of chips the look I got was disgusting, customer service really lacking and who would want dogs in a restaurant

We dropped in as a large group without advanced booking, we had a friendly welcome, good service, freshly cooked meals from a wide selection, the portions were huge, the ham was particularly good and it was all excellent value. We wish you success, well done team.

Trust me 100% I am a very fussy diner for the simple fact I love my food,but that was one of the best Beef roasts I've had in a long time, bit busy but FairPlay the service was good slight confusion over desert order but they gave me free ice cream while I was waiting for my apple pie, first time there for food but not my last really bloody enjoyed it.

This is the second time we have visited here recently. As the first time the meals were very tasty and plentiful. The staff were fab. We will be going back on a regular basis and highly recommend to anyone.

I had not visited here for probably 5 years And as we were passing we called in on Sunday on the off chance of getting a dinner and boy was it worth it. It's the best Sunday roast that I have had for many years so I cannot recommend it enough

Was visiting family and went to the navigation for Sunday lunch . Oh my !! Roast dinners on the menu ,, beef or chicken , with ALL the trimmings .. It as delicious and the portion sizes are amazing , my husband had a starter hot & spicy chicken wings of course I had to try one .. A definite to try !! Brilliant service and a very friendly and welcoming host ... If you are in the area you must visit this wonderful pub/restaurant.

Haven't been to this pub in many a year cos always changing managers and went downhill. Went cos someone put a comment on Facebook. Absolutely awesome starters and meals. Didn't have desserts. From huge nachos starters and lush garlic mushrooms. Pate and Cauli soup. To tasty chicken curry, faggots etc. If you haven't been go and try. Won't be disappointed. Always rely on your own judgement of venue and food.Staff and owners were amazing. Couldn't do enough. Wish I had taken lots of photos but left phone at home. Very homely pub. Will definitely be going back to Make our way through the menu. Prices are very good too. Big portion sizes.

Just popped in for a quick pint and a breather after reaching my half way point walking along the Taff Trail. A lovely building with a great history connected to the Glamorganshire canal but has seen troubled times in the recent past with various takeovers and rebranding going on trying to attract custom. I didn't eat here on this occasion but have in the past on two previous visits under two different managements and was left with regrets but to be fair to the present team, I was made to feel welcome even though it's not like a pub any more but like a restaurant with menus on all of the tables. I will visit again and try a meal here with my other half and hopefully will be pleasantly surprised.

Had the Sunday lunch at the refurbished navigation house and it was really quite good. I had the roast beef and a friend had the turkey. They are really trying hard to make this a place to visit and deserve as much help as possible.
