The New Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

No food available on a Saturday evening at 18:30 despite the website stating otherwise. Very disappointed since most of the reviews say it is a gem of a place, I totally disagree for the pub is very unkempt, filthy and shabby. I’m glad food wasn’t available to be honest for was even reluctant to stay for a drink.

After a few good beers it's nice to share a pizza. I had the pepperoni one, a good homemade one with a nice tasty pepperoni which was more like the ones you buy I Italy rather than the toned down ones from supermarkets. Good thin base and filling just right. Full marks from us and very reasonably priced.

Very friendly staff behind the bar but food very average indeed. We used to come here years ago but doubt we will return in near future sadly.

Lovely old country pub with a very friendly landlady and the Sunday roast was one of the best, the beef was served medium just the way I like it.

The worst Sunday lunch we have had. The best part was the sachet of mustard gravey was brown water the veg was cold the beef was tuff will not recommend this ore go back

We have been visiting this pub many times a year since 1985. We love it! Stopped en route to our holiday cottage and our family had a delicious lunch- the burgers were legendary and the ‘Taste of the Sea’ special was a highlight! All the staff are so friendly -The New Inn is such a great place for the local community and visitors alike.

We were staying at a National Trust property down the road. We found the New Inn to have a brilliant atmosphere, lovely food and helpful staff in a beautiful area. We'll be back.

Very popular and for good reason. Great landlady and staff. Super Sunday Roast - choice of 3 served roasts, a veggie option and then 7 help yourself vegetables. Booking is necessary. Lovely very old fashioned busy pub.

What a fabulous pub !! Staff and lovely land lady cannot do enough for you and our Sunday carvery was just perfect !! I recommend this pub to any holiday makers as the prices are such good value for money

If I could pick up a pub and take it home for my local, this would be it!! Friendly, happy atmosphere. Excellent beer, food is outstanding, the carvery on Sundays is the best I've had in a pub. Anyone visiting this part of Cornwall should try it. And if you want the carvery on a Sunday you'll need to book, as it gets extremely busy!!!

Great evening out! Walked up from Gillan and quiet when we arrived - 5* review for the sharps special, cider and other ales drinking well, lovely friendly staff and locals and dogs. Moved onto food - best salt n pepper squid we’ve found around the Helford, lush seafood platter, all to the unexpected and crowd drawing - the place is now heaving! - cadgwith singers. Great night out, thanks to all staff and neighbours!

What a super place for dinner. Eaten here several times on the two holidays we’ve had and never disappointed. The fish dishes are so tasty and fresh Mac n Cheese delicious!…. all very reasonably priced too! Kathy makes you feel very welcome and food , wine and ale selection is great too!! Always look forward to heading to the pub when we arrive in Manaccan!

Visiting nearby Gweek and went for lunch. Super friendly landlady, biscuits for our dog and fab lunch. Boys had burgers which were enormous and they said were fantastic. Whole tail scampi and home made veg curry also both great. Highly recommend x

A really friendly and welcoming traditional village pub which became the centre of our week’s holiday on The Lizard. The beer and food are good. Nice and busy. No problem with eighteen of us turning up at any hour.

Our first visit was for Sunday lunch and we were so impressed that we returned twice more during our week’s break! Fabulous food, friendly landlady and nice locals made this a super place to visit. We will definitely return next time we visit the area.

I visited for lunch while on a walk from Helford. I have visited a couple of times previously, before the cjhange of management and have always enjoyed a delicious lunch- once when the bar staff took pity on us and fed us after lunch service had finished. This visit was equally pleasant with a friendly locals chatting to us and great reasonably priced food. We'll be back.

Several re- visits around new year. It is pleasing to report that the new tenants have now settled in, and are making a cracking job of putting this lovely pub back on the map. The beers are well kept, the food is excellent, and the ambience great. The menu is supplemented with specials. We can thoroughly recommend the prawn cocktail, and the fish and chips. So pleased Ian and Kathy are making a go of it. I must also mention Ben behind the bar who is both polite and attentive.. Can’t wait for next visit.

Lovely find. Luckily saw the “open all day” sign after walking in Helford. Even though it was 2.30 on a Monday they cooked for us and were very welcoming. We also met Marco the Labrador. Lovely food, burgers are the biggest I have ever seen with everything on them. Didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day. Deserves to be very popular. We wish you well!!!

Just turned up on Remembrance Sunday, but despite being heavily booked, they fitted us in. Very good pub food, large portions and great value. Wife had a vegetarian wellington, I had gammon and eggs . Both great. Appleshed cider was excellent. Would certainly visit again

Popped into the pub whilst in the area with my partner and 2 children for a couple of beers and a bite to eat. All the Halloween decorations were up which gave the pub a nice feel. Landlady and Landlord very welcoming. Beer superb and we all had a bar snack and burgers and all were excellent and great value for money. Will definitely return.

Visited on 28/10/19 for an evening meal. The fire was making the bar area lovely and warm, with that cosy country pub smell. Nice ciders on offer so tried a few of those. Ordered three meals. The fish and chips was a large portion and very nice fish (£9.50).The skin on chips were really good, too. My daughter had gammon steak (£9.99) - a chunky piece of meat and a huge amount of local new potatoes. They were so tasty. I ate the steak (£15) - a big 15oz locally sourced product that was really, really good. The same great chips and the whole meal was lovely. Maybe a large flat mushroom would have suited the quality of the meat instead of button mushrooms, but it certainly didn’t detract from my meal. I didn’t take any pictures, but the price was fantastic for the quality and quantity. Huge plates fulls. Would go again if I’m the local area - and after finding a local Air B&B in Gillan, we may well do! Thanks for a lovely experience. Just wish I could remember the name of the cider on tap with the white logo. Enjoyed that! Prices are approx.

I went to the New Inn for a 40th party. The buffet was excellent it was like a wedding breakfast. The pub was lovely warm and welcoming. I enjoyed the food so much I am planning to take my husband for Sunday lunch.

On a chilly wet September day, we hoped to enjoy a pub lunch in cosy surroundings, and chose the New Inn in Manaccan. However, after we’d ordered our food the TV got turned on at a deafeningly loud level, so we retreated to the unheated garden room at the back. The food was very good, and generously portioned. But we were disappointed not to enjoy it where we’d hoped.

We ate here one evening when the kitchen was very short-staffed, so there was a bit of a wait for food, but when it came it was well worth it. Some of the plumpest, tastiest, juiciest mussels I've had in years, and the whole Camembert rolled in crushed garlic and roasted was a revelation. Mains were very nice, but those two starters stole the show. Well kept beers and friendly staff rounded off the picture. We'd come here again, without a doubt.

We were staying in the village whilst settling in our daughter at Falmouth university. So went to the prince of wales pub but no tables so came back to the village and walked up here. Very friendly people our daughter had the mussels to start very generous portion , we had the veggie mussels mushrooms very tasty with half a loaf of very nice bread. The mains took a very long time to come , but when they did eventually arrive the man apologized but said that was not the point but 2 members of staff including the chef had walked out. The Eaton mess was very tasty.

Hands up we bought one share in this pub after Punch Taverns shut the place such that five years later Cornwall’s first community pub is thriving

Good food, good atmosphere, very friendly staff members. Mussels were great and so all the starters. I felt my fish was a little on the greasy side but still very good!!

My friend and I had the breaded halumi Caesar salad with a poached egg on top, it was super, much nicer than I was expecting!

A friendly local village pub with an interesting, delicious and well priced menu. A warm welcome and a good selection of beers, cider and wine. Cosy interior and good sized beer garden. Dogs welcome and some excellent walks on the doorstep. Definitely worth making a detour for.

We have all been here numerous times in fact I’ve been coming here probably since the 60’s when my parents brought me here for traditional Cornish Pasties!.

Hugely welcoming staff and landlord..........customers in bar area bit yachty (at least that means good wine choices) but great conservatory and patio out the back. Dogs most welcome. Stuck to the pub fare rather than specials which were better value - hot, huge portions and well presented.

Really easy place to walk to from Helford and Kestle Barton. They take dogs and the owner was really welcoming. We didn’t need to book but we were just outside of season. Had two evening meals and breakfast. Steak and whitebait especially good.

On Monday 1st of July, my wife, our Golden Retriever and I, decided to try the circular walk from the car park in Helford along the Helford river out to Dennis head, back to St Anthony, stopping at The New Inn in Manaccan before we completed the walk back to Helford.

My husband and I visited last Friday for a book signing. The pub is lovely, very cosy and inviting. Everyone was very friendly.

What a lovely Cornish village and church had a nice walk round, which gave me a good thirst and appetite. I then went to the New Inn in Manaccan and what a good local pub. Was greeted by the lovely Tina, who served me a great local beer. The owner Kathy (who as only been there 9 weeks) took my food order which was excellent great service and friendly staff. If you are in this lovely part of the world, you can’t go far wrong with The New Inn.

We arrived on Thursday 6:15pm, the place was almost empty, only two other tables taken.

Stayed in Manaccan for a week pre booked the Friday evening meal. Very pleased to find somewhere that actually understands Gluten free. Food was really good with a fair menu. Prices were mid range staff very friendly and service good. Good range of beers and ciders.

We stumbled across this community run newly refurbished little pub while walking the dogs. It was in Manaccan village, close to the Helford river, where we were staying last week. We booked a table for early evening as we had to walk there and back through the woods. The food was good quality pub food with something for everybody. Nice choice of menu..not too much. It was delivered promptly as were our drinks. Very good value, even the beer was well priced. We decided to return the following Friday to join in the pub quiz which was a fantastic laugh. I would reccomend this place especially if you are staying near by on the Helford river. It's less than a mile walk through pretty woodland and fields. Will definitely visit again next time we are in Cornwall.

There is a new team running this pub and they did a great job with Easter Sunday lunch, hearty Sunday roast and tasty puddings, would recommend.

What no food! on Sunday' or even Mother's Day, can you believe it? missed a major chance. Last year it was hopping, great chef and wonderful food even for vegetarians

The troubled past of this pub continues. Every time they get it right and get praise, they fall off the cliff again. They have lost their chef, and haven’t got another, so there is no food. The opening hours are not published at the pub, and the website is down, so they are anyone’s guess.

Arrived at 12pm just after Christmas and very glad we booked, as we were a larger group of 8 adults and 6 children this time. Adults had fish and chips and kids really enjoyed their salt and pepper squid! I had a chilli lime creamy crayfish pasta dish that was amazing and I’ve tried to recreate it at home, loved it! Vix, Thank you- your food was delicious!

Arrived just after 12pm and sat in the large extension. All food written up on large board- kids wanted to eat all of it! Adults had delicious burgers and fish and chips and kids enjoyed traditional pub basket meals. Left for our walk back very full and very happy. Vix, we loved your food, can’t wait to return for more!

Week ending in Manaccan it was a delight to fall into this wonderful warm and welcoming community pub and restaurant! Wonderful food and beers on offer and even Jeremy our Airedale was made welcome. Enjoyed so much that we immediately booked Sunday lunch. Highly recommended!

We visited the New Inn in May when we drove to the Lizard for a family birthday then it had just been bought by the village and was a modern pub with good lunch food and welcoming staff. A village asset with locals at the bar.

This pub/restaurant has been refurbished and is run by local people. It has a great chef and the food is excellent. Service is very good and the atmosphere wonderful. There is also a good choice of beers, ciders and wine. Large car park with plenty of spaces and food is reasonably priced.

had Sunday lunch and an evening meal at the new inn , on both visits the meals where extremely good , well cooked , presented , the atmosphere in the pub was very relaxing . would recommend the pub to any one for a meal , drink. coffee at the end was a proper percolator , so every one got 2 cups each. really good pub indeed .

Just spent a couple of weeks in the beautiful village of Manaccan where this pub was the focal point for locals and tourists. Friendly staff and a nice local atmosphere make it a place you'll be happy to spend a few hours in. The food was absolutely fantastic (best we had in 2 weeks in Cornwall) and was delivered by a great chef oozing enthusiasm. Top stuff all round. I would certainly visit both the village and The New Inn again.

We have been visiting the Helford river for many years but on our recent visit we took a walk to Manaccan . We were glad we did . We had arrived half an hour before opening time but whilst we were waiting the chef came out and offered to make us some coffee.

I did book for five veggie diners, so they new in advance. The chef came to see us personally, explained what he could do, lots of choice, a rare thing when your veggie. Wonderful veggie dish in mustard sauce and crispy crumb. Great veg to go with it, great texture, color and flavour. Finished with wonderful puds. very soft and chocolaty brownie and fudge cake.. Will definitely go again, and will recommend to everyone
